I spent my entire adult life raising a child, never taking time for myself. Now that my son has grown up and moved out, I’m ready to enter the world of dating.
Maybe I’ll even get laid for the first time in, oh, twenty years.
If the sweetheart with the dad bod that I just accidentally knocked into the sand is as up for it as I think he is, that twenty year dry streak will be over sooner than expected.
David
I never expected to find a mate. Certainly never expected her to be human.
It was never my plan to become a family man. Work was always my calling. But, as happens eventually with all gentoo penguin shifters, I began to want an egg of my own. A mate of my own.
Only, I didn’t expect to be knocked out on the beach when I saw her—and I never knew love would feel this intense.
Oh God, how the hell am I going to explain the nest?
A Perfect Gentooman is a romance about a shifter and a human woman who meet later in life than they expect. There is a content note for pregnancy in the book. Other information about the content can be found on the author’s site. This books is for ages 18 and older and features situations not appropriate for those under that age. It is a medium-slow burn but the book is a novella so don’t worry, it won’t take too long to get to the juicy bits. Expect laughs, smiles, and feathers.
They are both a little "dorky" and it the cutest thing. We have "dad" jokes and over excitement chats about some of the most random things. David is a penguin and he collects his little pebbles for her 😭 if he gets nervous or anxious he legit turns into a penguin. He is super interested in everything she says. Like the title suggests, he's the perfect gentooman
This book had me giggling at swooning for this silly feathered man. Sylvias mind is brilliant 🥰
This was absolutely the cutest!! A penguin shifter romance has never crossed my mind, but now i need 50 more. Stat.
This is such a fun and hilarious novella that had me laughing out loud. And so sweet and adorable. It could have been 300 pages, and I would have ate every bit of it up. 60 pages just simply was not enough.
Him turning into an actual small penguin when he's stressed or anxious was so cute. He was just so caring and sweet, who knew he'd also have such a filthy mouth?
I enjoyed it but I wanted more, I know I know it’s a novella it’s supposed to be short, but a few extra lines would have helped. Like what did his 🍆 actually look like? And what was the egg delivery like?
The mmc was really cute and I loved his possessive penguin side (never thought I’d write that sentence 🙃) The fmc was a lot of fun as well, she was sweet and a lot of fun with her special aquatic interest.
I loved this story, it's both cute and dorky in the best kind of way. What I always enjoy about Sylvia Morrow's stories is finding characters in their thirties and/or forties, with perfectly imperfect bodies, who make us feel that they are Mr. and Mrs. Everyman (and I mean that in a very positive way), but who can also turn out to be Gentoo penguin shifters. That dichotomy is absolutely delicious.
Sylvia Morrow also had the merit of making me research the mating rituals of anglerfish 😨
I was feeling a bit down and knew that picking up a book by Sylvia would cheer me up!
This was so cute, I think there will be tough competition to find a sweeter book. It was a short novella but I would read a full length book about these MCS!
The older MCs coming together and starting a life was a vibe and the fact that the MMC turned into a Gentoo penguin was ADORABLE.
Penguin (gentoo) shifter MMC. Single mom FMC (37 and 39). Her son is 20 and out of the house. Virgin MMC. 20 year celibate FMC. Cums premature. Breeding. Laying eggs. Twin daughters. Very short. No OMD/OWD. No cheating. No breakup.

3.5/5 I liked this so much more than I thought! The story was so cute and his thing with the rocks was sooooo funny. Could have read 50 or so more pages of their story and been happy!
