For fans of Liane Moriarty, and gripping psychological thrillers like Gone Girl and Where the Crawdads Sing, this book will keep you on the edge of your seat.
I loved the book! No loose ends or cliffhangers. The story was exciting, there was not a single dull moment. The writing was different than your typical mystery-thriller which was refreshing and I personaly lovde it. For a new author, it was a great first book. As far as depictions goes, there were not long and dull, everything was well described and depicted in not too many words and not too little. I recommend that anyone gives this book a try, even if you are not into thriller and mystery novels.
A woman escapes from Melbourne when her ex partner is released from jail and she has to stay under the radar and not leave any trace so she with withdraws all the cash she has and stays completely off line. Her ex partner, ‘Z’, was very controlling, and had murdered her old boss, and had said he would come for her when he got out of prison. She ends up in a small town near Batemans Bay called Tomakin. She lives is a cabin, takes daily walks, gets to know some of the locals, enjoys the stunning oceans views, and begins writing this book. Hopefully she can escape him and live in peace.
The very last time I get suckered in by Facebook ads. “Such a thriller!” “I couldn’t put it down!” “Read it in one sitting!” No, this book was not thrilling whatsoever. It took me a while to read. The only reason it got two stars was that the last couple of chapters were somewhat engaging.
This is a well written thriller. It’s a chilling tale of the insidious way one person can take over another person’s life so slowly that until it’s too late the other person doesn’t even realize it’s happening
