Questions and character development

I wanted to like this book but found it to be a bit of a challenging read.

I felt like there was too much dialogue by each character and their thoughts and not enough between the characters.

Destiny seemed whiny at times and caused so much of the drama by simply not communicating to Adam. I was as frustrated as the Barrett character when she kept saying she couldn’t tell Adam about the baby. She kept saying that and it was like enough already. For someone who is supposed to be a force to be reckoned with by starting her own business, she didn’t live up to the hype. I was frustrated when she gets mad at Adam for thinking she would run off with the baby when she was the one who hid the baby from him for so long. Why wouldn’t he think that. She keeps avoiding talking and running off with the baby. I’d be mad too. Too much of a character flip. She seemed so wimpy in the beginning but then all of a sudden her character shifts to a power woman that can rule the world.

At the same time Adam is annoying because he keeps jumping to conclusions and yelling at everyone. He wanted to ruin both Destiny and Barrett. He assumes Destiny cheated and Avery isn’t his child without talking to Destiny. And then basically threatens to destroy Barrett because he assumes he is the father of Avery. I dislike how none of Adam’s rants are resolved, or how quickly he forgives. We never found out what they did with the information about Barrett. When he shows up at the cottage after not finding Destiny at the hospital, you would expect him to be upset. Mainly because Destiny went MIA with his child again. But instead his gruff, mean demeanor flips to as soft as a bunny. His erratic behavior while he is looking for Destiny and the baby would terrify me and I wouldn’t let him anywhere near my kid. Very aggressive.

I thought I was reading an action novel when Adam was trying to get information about who leaked the story (btw, we never found out who did) and when he was driving to the hospital. I will give the writer credit, my pulse was racing and I felt like I was in the car with Adam. Then suddenly all the excitement died after the hospital attendant said she wasn’t there anymore. That level of excitement never showed up again the rest of the book. A little disappointing.

Maybe there can be a follow up to answer a lot of the open questions. We can hope.

Okay, so I just finished reading Worship Him by Vixa Vaughn, and I have some thoughts. Let me just say upfront that I received a free copy of this book from BookSprout and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

This book is definitely heavy on the drama, like, really heavy. It centers around Adam and Destiny, who are in the middle of a messy divorce. While they both seem to be good at their jobs, their relationship is a complete and utter train wreck. Honestly, I found myself scratching my head at a lot of their actions. They just didn't make sense to me sometimes.

The story is intense, there's no denying that. There are definitely some steamy scenes, so if you're looking for that, you'll find it here. But for me, something was missing. I just couldn't connect with either Adam or Destiny. I think what I really needed was more of that heartfelt trust rebuilding and some genuine happy moments. The story is so focused on the drama and conflict that I didn't get enough of those tender, emotional scenes that would have made me truly invested in their relationship.

It mentions that Destiny is hiding her baby girl from Adam because she feels like she needs to protect her from him. This adds another layer of complexity to their already messy situation. The media is also all over them, which just adds fuel to the fire. When Adam finally finds out about his daughter, he understandably has a strong reaction, and the story explores whether they can overcome their past mistakes and find happiness together.

I'd probably rate this book a 3.5 out of 5. It definitely kept me turning the pages because I wanted to see what would happen next, but I just didn't feel that deep connection to the characters that I usually crave in a romance. I think if there had been more focus on the emotional journey of rebuilding trust and finding forgiveness, I would have enjoyed it a lot more. The intensity and steam are there, but for me, the emotional depth fell a little short.

The Title and Story Don't Match

The title and story did not match. It made me change my expectation as the story unfolded. They honestly had nothing that tied the two together. This continued throughout the story.

I would have given mire stars had there been some type of character development or even a sense of place. I liked the lake, but where were they? This book kept me off kilter for the entire read.

Both main characters were lacking in my opinion. Destiny was weak and honestly, so was Adam. They made mistakes in communication that had them on the threshold of divorce.

This book had so much promise, however it was a "miss" for me. Sorry!

They grew apart

Their businesses had them so preoccupied that they neglected to take time for each other. They forgot about their cottage refuge which was so important to them in the early years. Even though they grew apart, they never stopped loving each other. Their businesses were what kept their minds off of the hurt of their separation and imminent divorce. Destiny's hiding the birth of their daughter was to protect her from being hurt and to keep Adam from feeling obligated to drop their divorce because of the birth of Avery. The Paparazzi actually caused them both to realize what was important and that was their family.

They seem to be very good at getting their jobs done but when it comes to their relationship it's definitely messy. This is heavy on the drama side and the actions of both characters were puzzling to me. It is very intense with some steam, I just couldn't connect with either character and think I needed more heartfelt trust rebuilding and happy emotions. Adam and Destiny are undergoing a divorce, and the paparazzi is having a field day with them. Neither one of them has the guts to tell the other of their true feelings but when an accident occurs that has Destiny, and her baby involved Adam will stop at nothing to get to his family. Will they finally admit their true feelings to each other and will it lead them to a second chance for happiness,.

It was Ok!

The situation that lead to Adam and Destiny’s breakup was a lack of communication. They allowed their feelings, mainly fear, to get in the way of their relationship. Destiny’s fear also caused her to keep their child a secret. Speaking of child, I didn’t know if I was reading about a newborn, a six month or a one year old as the author’s words was so confusing. She finally made it clear almost halfway through the book that the baby was only 3 months old.

The title and the book doesn’t go together

Destiney is the most selfish person you could meet and love. She is always a victim and I find it hard a character like this would own and run a successful business. She couldn’t commit and actually do the right thing unless she was getting something out of it. Her husband should have file for full custody and be done with it and gave her visitation. She mentally wasn’t there and always running.

Hot Freaky Holiday Lift

This was a great story to read right before Christmas. Unlike Destiny & Adam my marriage could not be resolved, there could because it was workable. Mine was just damaged beyond repair, and I feel safer now. But to met someone like Adam would be nice. Great Read I really enjoyed it.

Title

Total disconnect between the plot and the title, why worship him? Unless it is meant to capture how the male lead snaps at the people around him for the whole book like he’s the only one of worth. Storyline is vague, the characters have no depth and there was no resolution the company issues. No personality to be found in this story, no connection between the characters.

The title should be "Misunderstandings All Around"

It was a realistic story about how married couples should talk and not assume what the other is thinking. I loved it and was shocked when I realized a baby was born. She got on my nerve prolonging coming clean to him. She was very selfish and things could have ended badly. Will not give it away read it.

Adam and Destiny are in the middle of a messy divorce. But there are still feelings there for each other, that neither will admit to. Adam is given a second chance to put things right and back together again. Let's hope he takes it with arms wide open.

No details

I understand keeping the maiden name but what I don’t understand is why she was referred to as Mrs. Lewis and not Ms. Lewis.
Why did their marriage fall apart in the first place? Too many details left out. It wasn’t a horrible read just not very detailed.

umm, 🤔

Couple divorcing but the wife is hiding a child. This author can write but using at least a quarter of the book saying I should tell him, then another apologizing for not just got repetitive and annoying. I skipped through. C+,plot just didn’t work for me
