Two lives . . . two paths . . . one tragic outcome. The Fix 2 is in and the game is afoot!
The past few months have been a living hell for Persia. Seemingly overnight, she has fallen from grace and found herself scraping rock bottom, all in the name of two lovers—Chucky and cocaine. One was supposed to love her and the other take away the pain, but they've both fallen short on their promises. The last time she saw either one of them was the night she almost lost her life.
It has taken a bout of physical therapy and a stint in a rehabilitation center for Persia to be able to start pulling together the pieces of the life she almost ruined. She’s living at home with her mother and stepfather and is refocused on school. For the first time in what seems like forever, she is finally able to enjoy life as an average teenage girl trying to graduate from high school. That’s when they get the phone call that sends everything to the left.
As Persia struggles with her demons, her childhood friend Li’l Monk is embracing his. Under the tutelage of the vicious crime lord Ramses, Li’l Monk is quickly making his way through the ranks of the Pharaoh’s army and creating a name for himself on the streets as a ruthless killer. Just as his father, Big Monk, had always predicted, he is walking a mile in his daddy’s bloody shoes.
As cold as Li’l Monk’s heart is, however, he still has a soft spot for his old friends. When a childhood pal comes to him for a favor, Li’l Monk finds himself with blood on his hands and dirt on his name. When the double cross knocks him out of favor with Ramses, Li’l Monk is left with two kill or die.
K’wan delivers another instant street classic that is sure to keep him at the top of the charts.
In 2002 K'wan hit the scene with his debut novel Gangsta, under Triple Crown Publications. It was the first novel released by the budding house and would eventually become the building block for what is now a multimillion dollar company. What started as a therapeutic release went on to become a part of urban-lit history and an Essence bestseller, as well as drawing rave reviews overseas. After penning his second novel, Road Dawgz (2003), K'wan drew the attention of St. Martins press. The literary powerhouse quickly signed K'wan to a multi-book deal, the first of which being Street Dreams (2004). In 2008 he received the Black Author of the year award from Black Press Radio for the novella Blow. Since his insertion into the publishing world K'wan has been featured in Vibe, Pages, King, Felon, Big News, The Library Journal, Entertainment Weekly, The New York Press, Clutch and most notably Time Magazine, to name a few. He was also interviewed by MTV News for a feature on Hip-Hop fiction, and a guest on Power 105s morning show as well as NPR (national public radio). In addition to being an accomplished author, K'wan is also a motivational speaker, mentor to at risk children and the C.E.O of Black Dawn, Inc. K'wan currently resides in New Jersey where he is working on his next novel.
Man Chucky Dusty ass make me sick I wish he die already and I'm starting not to like Omega smh. And hopefully Pherda and um Ramsey whatever their names are find out Lil Monk had nothing to do with the killing of Mr. D. And I hope girl what's her Name start with a P dang I forgot her name that fast lol! Anyway that ^ I hope she tells somebody about Chucky Dusty ass ugh I'm getting tired of this junky . I wish her daddy get out of jail and she tell her parents and lil monk . Sheesh .
A good 50% of this book was recapping the previous book. I know there has to be a little refresher in the next book of a series, but a lot of time was spent rehashing and I think that's unnecessary. If you read the book you don't need all that because you know what happened. And if you didn't then you should have because that's how a series usually works. No need to rewrite the first book when it already exists.
So I'm confused. I know Charlie is working secretly with Chucky to get at Lil Monk and Ramses. Chucky has Charlie thinking they are going to be a team and run the streets as partners after they get the seed money and get Ramses and Pharaoh out the way. Chucky is using him because he's marked and can't show his face. Charlie went with Lil Monk on an errand and told Chucky about the man they visited. Chucky killed him (even though they don't know who did it yet). Now the Italians ain't working with Pharaoh. I don't remember why they were in negotiations anyway. But at the same time Omega and Tut went behind Ramses back to kill the Puerto Rican Petey, who was Papitos nephew (I think Papito was in Love and Gun Play was was the person who took over after Animal and his crew got rid of his rival). I don't even remember why Omega and Tut did this. I know they were talking about Tut taking all Petey's territory plus splitting a big piece of Omega's real estate after the job that was also kept from Lil Monk. So Ramses and Pharaoh are about to be at war with the Italians, who if I'm not mistaken have dealings with the Clarks) and the Puerto Ricans unless he can get to the bottom of both crimes. Chucky is in the background being the fucking devil, and Lil Monk is relying on somebody to have his back who is about to dig himself into a nasty hole.
I really like Lil Monk and I love Sophie. I got a bad feeling something is going to happen to Sophie and him and Persia are going to end up together. But I don't want that. I don't care about Persia's part of this story. I care about Lil Monk, Ramses, and what's about to happen with this war that's coming and all this snake shit that's going on.

So as most of you know I'm a huge fan of K'wan's writing style and his books and the opportunity to experience things second hand that I'll never get to experience. I had to double check other reviews to make sure that I wasn't missing pages in my book.HUGE cliffhanger at the end.
I wish someone would put Chucky out of his misery. Just...ugh. And Charlie. And Omega. And Tut. They're just....they're making a lot of stupid ass decisions and going back on people they shouldn't be for stupid ass reasons. And yes, greed is a stupid ass reason. As is using people's kids to get revenge on their parents.
From what I gather from other books (most of them true to life type books) if you want someone in jail to die there's ways to do it. So there's no reason for Chucky to be pulling the shit he's pulling. And Big Monk is still around for him to be able to get him personally so there's no reason to go after the kids (unless I'm seeing things through too white of a lens again which is entirely possible).
This was a very good book though. And again from what I've heard from recovering addicts first hand and read in books, her recovery from her addiction was very well written and fairly accurate. I hope that K'wan writes a third book in this to finish it. Because I REALLY WANT to know what happens in his mind. I know what I want to happen but what I want and what he thinks can (and most likely are) two separate things.
Once again, K'wan has weaved an array of characters into an excellent story, full of drama, murder, sex and drugs. It picks up right where part 1 left off and you will remember why you were so angry at Persia. Meanwhile, Lil' Monk needs to watch his back and the company he keeps.
I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to all avid readers…especially readers of K'wan.
I'm on the fence with the rating....I gave it 4 stars, but it was more like 3.5. It took to long to get to the plot. Just when the plot was exposed, the book was over! So, now I have to endure another book if I want to know what's going to happen to Persia, Lil Monk, Omega, and Chucky.....
I wish Chucky would just die already! He is too evil and sadistic!
Kwan why do you keep your loyal readers hanging? In the fix you left out with a phone call to Persia and you did it again!!! Quit leaving us like that. Everyone listen up and one click this bad boy because the fire department just put the fire out from my kindle. Lol
I'm gonna do something that I usually do NOT do: I'm going to give a character I have no feelings for THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT & A PASS. THAT CHARACTER IN THIS STORY IS PERSIA. While many find themselves not liking PERSIA, I'm going to take into consideration that she's young & grew up probably sheltered so I'm guessing that some of the things that she found herself in she hadn't anticipated how deep she would allow herself to get involved in the use of drugs nor had she factored in just how far the depths of her fall would be before she would hit BOTTOM. At any rate, because the build up in this The Fix 2 was for the anticipation for a The Fix Book 3, it was a obvious that PERSIA would survive everything she had been put through in the first two books will continue in THE FIX 3. Everyone, OR ATLEAST MOST FOLKS CAN BENEFIT FROM A SECOND, OR THIRD, OR FOURTH CHANCE IN THE ONE LIFE WE'RE GIVEN. While some folks don't want LIL MONK to be with the girl who holds his heart: PERSIA, I, on the other hand, wouldn't be too surprised if LIL MONK GOT HIS WISH TO BE WITH PERSIA, sending Sophie/Sophia packing. What put me slightly against Sophie/Sophia was HOW SHE MADE FUN of Lil MONK by mocking how he stared at PERSIA during the funeral event. Since Lil Monk is made fun of even by his dad MONK for having what is described as monkey features, I wouldn't be surprised if Lil Monk dumped his GF, Sophie/Sophia for her ability to mock him from time to time.
I have mixed feelings about the Fix 2. I liked that we were introduced to some new characters and some characters we knew from different series but it felt like a filler book. There wasn’t too much action in this book more like a set up for The Fix 3. The ending frustrated me. First, I’m so proud of Persia for getting clean and getting back on track and Chucky needs to get blown off the map. I’ve never hated a character in any other K’wan series as much as I hate Chucky. Persia should’ve taken that tape to the police considering she was underage when he unknowingly recorded her; she should’ve gotten him locked up. Can’t wait to see how this all ends.

I will be glad when Chucky get his. To see him going after Persia for revenge all because of what her father did. On the other hand Persia seems to be still struggling through her addiction, but too naive to really seek the help she needs. I think Charlie has placed himself in a world of trouble and now it is too late to go back all because of greed. I'm still trying to understand who Pharoah is, but I want to say that it is Face behind the mask. Anything I read by K'wan I know that it is going to be very interesting and keep you wondering what is it that he has next for his readers.
The first book was better. I felt like half this book was retelling what happened in the first one. I understand needing to refresh the readers memory but It was overdone. I can’t believe I shipped Persia & Lil Monk in book one. I do not like her. He needs to stay with Sophia. How stupid could Charlie B?? I hope he dies in part 3 along with Chucky. What Chucky did to Karen was disgusting. I can’t remember if this book had a trigger warning or not but if it definitely needs one.
Yes, I’ll recommend this series and every book by this author. I’m so mad right now because Chucky is like a roach that just want go away. I sure hope Persia keep holding on and don’t give in to Chucky madness. If anything happens to Lil Monk it’s going to break my heart. Happy Reading!
Lil Monk and Omega is coming on up in rank, I’m proud of them boys! But it definitely seems like history is gonna repeat itself with Omega. Greed will destroy everythang. Chucky is always slithering in the shadows seeking revenge and now he out for everybody...I’m waiting on the classical blood shed known to happen in K’wan books maybe I’ll get it in Fix 3
I really love the book, the storyline is everything the details make me feel like Im actually there, I just wish it didn’t recap so much of the first one.. but overall the story is good!!!
There was a lot of re-telling in this installment which threw me off. This is the 1st K'wan series that I really don't feel an attachment to the characters. I am routing for Monk & Lil Monk
I started reading and I almost stopped so I could go back and read the first book again. Then I was like nah K'wan won't leave me hanging. This book answered a lot of lingering questions, but it created a lot of new ones too. But as I'm reading, I'm wondering how the hell is Chucky still alive??? He is like the stray cat that everyone has ran over in the neighborhood, but it just won't die. Chucky will surely outlive all these fools.
It was some stupid people in this book! Everybody street, but they too trusting of people. King Tut going on a mission without any information, just on the word of Omega. Omega lying and making moves, but quick to get scared. Lil Monk taking Charlie with him to do a job after he was told to go alone. Every woman Chucky come in contact with stupid for following behind a dope fiend. The only OG in this book is Big Monk. Cracked out or not, Big Monk is the only one who got some damn sense.
My favorite part...when Big Monk was talking to Omega about the safety of his son, and Omega didn't like the way he was talking to him and he thought he was gone question Monk. Monk showed him what it meant to make threats. Please understand when Monk put that gun to his face, Omega went silent.
You know you're a great writer...when you write a scene that literally makes your reader sick to their stomach. And just when I'm like dude I can't read no more of this...ewwww this is some sick mess...K'wan has the character say "enough." I looked down at the kindle, looked around the room...like K'wan play entirely too much. This dude is a F-ing genius!
What I'm curious about for book 3...is Big Monk gone have to body all these fools in Lil Monk honor? What role will Asia have (she came on the scene for a reason)? Vaughn Tate - friend or foe? Who is the real Richard? I have been dying to know more about this step-daddy and his connections. And the most important question, will Chucky be the last man standing???
Just finished reading the Fix and the Fix 2 by K'wan. There we so much in these books the rang true to life, until it made me go back and think about some of the kids from my childhood who did not make it! Can you truly say your people are really down for you or is there an hidden strain of jealousy and hatred from the friend who is really a foe? Lil Monk was a character that you learned to love from his first introduction in the Fix. Going from a kid who had everything to a kid scavenging just to eat was heart breaking, but he never forgot his circumstances and where he came from! As he got older he made sure he looked out for those unable to properly look out for themselves, so he was loved and respected by many which caused a problem for some who let envy get in the way of seeing the truth! The principals that were instilled in Lil Monk reminds me of a good friend of mine in that integrity, loyalty, respect are the gospel they live by! I don't do spoilers so I won't go deeper into this story other than to say the streets love and respect no one, as it is filled with nothing more than trickery and deceit! The author gave us strong developed characters that could hold their own in their own stories if the leaving many options if the author chose to go that route! I have not read one book by this author that I would not recommend to others! I just discovered his novels in 2013 and it's been on a popping since then! If you have not read The Animal Series, Ghetto Bastard and Black Lotus, let me suggest you do! Dude has like 25 books out so I'm way behind but his pen is the truth! Definitely a 5 star read! Great job K'wan!
It was cool , it was like a recap of everything from the first book . So I was like wtf .? Am I really on book 2 ? Chucky is still a shiesty MFER, don't think that is going to change anytime soon people & he even ended up bringing in two other females in here . When he set up lil monk I was straight stuck like damn is someone going to kill this nigga or what ??!
I don't get how none of the crew gets to meet a man that they work for . Makes no sense does it. ? When is pharaoh going to be revealed ? Peria I am happy for her because she ended up finding a new friend Asia & staying clean for the most part . Which is good . Let's see how long that lasts . She is a dumb broad & her daddy needs to get out ASAP from the ending I got a feeling she is going to end up hitting rock bottom .
lil monk of course is my favorite !! He is so loyal , his girl Sophie is irking bitch is too clingy . Omega is a choosy mf and I don't like that , and on the low low very sneaky .. Especially when he kept the deal that him & tut had On the low ..
I think the person that has me most ulcer right now & who I hope gets a bullet in his temple is CHARLIE ! He betrayed lil monk .. For money . He joined chucky and did some shit that there is no coming back from & I hope and pray that in the next book dude gets all that is coming to him along with chucky
At this point I really don't care about Persia spoiled ass she ain't seem to learn shit.... I'm only reading for Lil Monk and the rest of the crew !!! This book had my teeth chattering this nigga Chucky really lost his mind I'm mad his ass still alive kill this clown off K'wan damn !!!! I hope Lil Monk can save his dad for the wrong nigga kill him ... Sophie is a real loyal chick this dude Omega really made me dislike him.... King Tut should be killed off screw the consequences....I really wanna know who Pharoh is it's killing me !!! I know Monk will kill a nigga for his son and if it comes to that I understand because I'll do the Same for my kids Lil monk deserves his own book like Animal.... I can't wait until I get my hands on part 3
Chucky Is one annoying dude, the name even reminds me of the killer Chucky doll. That's who that fool is. And Omega, I can't tell if I'm going to like him or not. Can't tell where he stands. Ramsey shouldve know that Lil Monk didn't have anything to do with that murder of Mr. D. That psycho Chucky and Monk fake friend was the cause of that situation. AND Persia needs to tell someone about Chucky that dude is a headache. He's like an inch that wouldn't go away lol.
The Fix chronicles the life of Persia and LilMonk. Having lost their fathers to the streets, they grow up having to fend for themselves. Persia is a recovering addict while Lil Monk is a lieutenant to Pharoh and Ramses. Lil Monk's right hand, Omega, gets tied into some mess bringing heat onto Lil Monk. Not too far away, a bitter Chucky is seeking revenge for everybody he believes had a say in his being cut from the team. He still wants to ruin Persia's life, as if turning her into a crackhead wasn't good enough, and he has hooked up with Charlie, one of Lil Monk's childhood friends. Now, Pharoh wants to tie up loose ends...I can't be the only way waiting for book #3.
I knew This book was going to end and make me mad. Omega was wrong for getting Tut involved with killing Petey. & I have a feeling Ramses is gonna catch wind if it & have them both killed. Just like Lil Monk was wrong for taking Charlie with him to see Mr. D. That's gonna get him killed probably. We know not to trust Charlie because he is the reason Karen got killed. And Chucky done messed Persia up by recording a video of them having sex and now using it to blackmail her. And I'm mad because part 2 just came out so there's no telling when part 3 will be coming out. But above all I loved the book and enjoyed reading it.
This book was nothing short of amazing and I can't wait for THE FIX 3. Charlie Cass needs to be dealt with as well as Chucky. The situation with King Tut and Omega will not plan out well it pretty obvious. I have the weird feeling Big Monk is about to lay the Hammer down behind his son. I really wish Face was back in th picture to save his daughter from Chucky's bullying of Persia. Asia seems like a person whom could help Persia so let's see if she reaches out. All of this to say and spoil (sorry) but I can't wait for THE FIX 3
I'm a big K'wan fan. I think I start all my reviews of his books by saying that. It had been a while since I read The Fix. So, at first I was a little fuzzy on who some characters were. But, it all came together quickly. I like the way he doesn't hesitate to incorporate characters from his other books into current ones. Of course he left us hanging at the end. But, if it's anything like his prior series', the next one will be worth the wait.
I think the book was good I just didn't like how every time things get started he brings you back to the first book other than that the book was great. Chucky was a bitch made dude I didn't like him from tbe first book. I loved how K'wan brought Ashanti into this book. You can count on K'wan to bring in his other characters from his other books. Great job K'wan 5 star read you won't be disappointed at all.
