Tim Curran lives in Michigan and is the author of the novels Skin Medicine, Hive, Dead Sea, Resurrection, The Devil Next Door, and Biohazard, as well as the novella The Corpse King. His short stories have appeared in such magazines as City Slab, Flesh&Blood, Book of Dark Wisdom, and Inhuman, and anthologies such as Shivers IV, High Seas Cthulhu, and Vile Things.

Another superb horror Western by Tim Curran. This one follows a gunslinger as his past catches up with him in the form of something he shouldn't believe in. His whole psychological welfare is at risk from what follows him, and so are the loved ones in his life. This is a man on his own, battling something that his Peacekeepers will struggle to protect him from.
Tim does a brilliant job of detailing what happens to Sam on his journey, and how it affects those around him. This is a book that is more descriptive heavy than dialogue heavy but Tim's skill makes it not repetitive at all for the reader. You fall into the world of the West thanks to his skill and you'll want to see it through to the end.
I really enjoyed this, it's full of spooky goings on as the main character struggles to determine what is real and what is imaginary. Descriptions of the things he comes up against leave a clear impression in your mind, for better or worse.
This was my first time reading this author, but will not certainly be my last! Let me tell you this book definitely lives up to its name! If you enjoy Western folklore, with elements of the wild west, dark magic, and zombies, give this one a try! But be warned! There is body horror and gore galore throughout the entirety of the book, with detailed descriptions of corpses and death and decay. I strongly suggest that you don't eat while reading this! Nonetheless, I highly recommend this book. It is a work of art brought to life in words by this talented author and deserves to be read!
Curran is really knocking it out of the park these days with Western themed horror stories. I loved "Skull Moon" and "Skin Medicine", but "Black Juju" really pushed it's way to the top of the lost. The story has Curran's trademark nastiness replete with gore, decay, violence, and monstrosities, and he twists them all together with evil voodoo to make a particularly dark tale of a man hunted by unimaginable forces. Great story, easily won five out of five stars.
A great spatterpunk western. Sam has had a hard life and has created a lot of enemies. He is now being chased across the west by a belovolent creature spawned by a witch. Sam must die but he will fight first.
