Needless to say, a book about the history of physical training practices from warrior cultures from all over the world catches my attention. And I'm very glad that my friend James Pieratt is the one to write it. Not only is James a physical specimen who truly walks the walk when it comes to functional training, but he is also an avid researcher with a never-ending passion for history.

interesting but superficial

What there is in this book is interesting although it is short on citations. It does not go deeply into any of the topics and is really a light outline more than a detailed book.

Great idea, but very poorly executed.

One star for some practical utility.

The book was well researched and interesting. It left me wanting more information, pictures, or even application for personal fitness.
