The Naughty List

Rate this book
Welcome to Snowhaven. A charming, snow covered town where Christmas magic hides a chilling curse. Snowhaven was a picture-perfect town, the kind that belonged on holiday postcards. Quaint cottages lined snowy streets, their rooftops adorned with twinkling lights. A towering Christmas tree stood proudly in the square, its ornaments glittering like tiny stars. But beneath the festive charm, Snowhaven harbored a dark secret.

Every December, without fail, a mysterious list appears. A simple sheet of paper pinned to the town bulletin board. Its bold red letters “The Naughty List". At first glance , it seems like a harmless , even whimsical, holiday prank. A playful nod to Santa’s lore. But everyone in Snowhaven knows better. The names on this list are marked for misfortune. Tragedy strikes each one before New Year’s Eve, and no one knows who, or what, is behind it. By New Year’s Eve, every name would be crossed off, one by one, as its bearer met with tragedy, misfortune, or worse. Some called it a prank, others whispered of a curse, but everyone feared it.

When newcomer Emma Reed arrived in Snowhaven, she thought she had found a peaceful escape from her past. But when her name appeared at the top of the Naughty List, she realized she was wrong. She realizes that she has become the latest target of a deadly tradition. Strangers turn cold, shadows stalk her every step, and whispers of a vengeful spirit echo through the frozen streets.

Caught in a web of secrets and shadowed by the town’s haunted history, Emma must unravel the mystery of the list before it’s too late. Each passing day brings her closer to an unspeakable fate, and the clock is ticking. Emma has little time to uncover the dark truth buried beneath Snowhaven’s holiday cheer. As she unravels the town’s sinister history, she discovers that surviving the Naughty List will require more than just bravery. It will demand a sacrifice.

Fans of thrilling mysteries, supernatural suspense, and atmospheric horror will be captivated by The Naughty List. A chilling tale of reckoning, redemption, and the secrets we bury under the snow. Because in Snowhaven, the snow isn’t the only thing that falls.

This is a short fast paced Christmas horror.

On the surface, Snowhaven feels cozy and familiar. It’s one of those everyone knows your name towns wrapped in holiday cheer. But that warm, festive vibe makes the horror hit even harder once things start going wrong.

What I really enjoyed is how the story leans into the dark side of small towns: secrets, gossip, and the unsettling idea that everyone might know more than they’re letting on. The concept of the “naughty list” is creepy in a quiet, psychological way rather than relying on nonstop gore, and the tension builds steadily instead of rushing.

The atmosphere is definitely the star here. Snowy streets, festive decorations, and a growing sense of dread make this feel perfect for winter reading. It’s unsettling, moody, and plays with the fear of being watched or judged by something you can’t escape until you confess.

If you like small-town horror with a chilling premise and a slow burn that pays off, this one is worth picking up as a fast easy read - especially during the holiday season
