Rate this book
Can a fallen angel be saved? The last thing Landon Walker remembered was a blinding light.

Now, he's in a field, with no memory of who he is, where he came from, or anything about his past.

All he has are the clothes on his back and a wallet in his pocket.

But when Landon starts healing the sick and performing miracles, he attracts the attention of both the heavenly and the demonic.

Hunted by demons and shadowed by angels, Landon begins to realize that he's much more than just some "John Doe."

He's the Unfallen, and the fate of the world may rest in his hands.

The Unfallen is the first book in this fast-paced, action-packed Christian suspense series. Fans of novels by Frank Peretti, like This Present Darkness, or fans of Lynette Eason or Colleen Coble, will fall in love with Landon Walker. An action-packed redemption story.

This book was such a blast! From the very first chapter, it grabbed my attention and didn’t let go. The pacing is spot-on, full of tension, twists, and just the right touches of humor and heart to keep you fully invested in every moment.

I listened to the audiobook, and Jonathan Lee Taylor was absolutely fantastic. His narration brought each character to life with so much energy and personality that I felt like I was right there in the middle of the action. He kept me engaged from start to finish, I couldn’t stop listening!

What I loved most is how the story balances excitement with emotion. It’s fast-moving but still gives you moments to breathe and connect with the characters. Every chapter left me wanting more.

If you’re looking for a book that’s thrilling, entertaining, and impossible to put down, this one delivers. I was completely hooked, and I already can’t wait to listen to it again!

A suspenseful Christian supernatural thriller that is questionable if its fiction is taken as part of one's theology, but its underlying message is one that is very true, and it touched me. I gave it only 4 stars because the storytelling part of it could be better, while the essential story itself is worth the read. Too much introspection with the same questions and doubts repeated over and over -- that is my biggest criticism. Being a writer myself, I recognize this characteristic in myself. It can get tiring reading it. I hope that the writer in the follow up stories tries to balance it out.

Landon Walker awakes in a corn field, unable to remember anything about himself or what has happened. All he has is his wallet, with his driver’s licence showing he lives in Florida, and his phone, which only has one photo on it, of a little girl in a hospital bed, who he recalls as Emily, and a keycard for an inn in Willowbrook, Kansas. Something dark and dangerous is chasing him and as he runs, a sudden bright light covers the skies. He gets to the small-town of Willowbrook and goes to the motel, to see if anyone can tell him who he is and what he might be doing in the town. Only the clerk there says he actually checked out some two weeks ago! Where he has been for these two weeks is a mystery and none of his possessions are there. He goes to the local diner and his waitress is a young woman called Sarah, who has been disfigured in a local fire, where she was a hero and saved three kids, whilst putting her own at risk. He feels pulled to her, both seemingly lost souls, wandering and unsure who they are. Her life changed forever with the fire and now she is just marking tie, working in a dead-end job, instead of pursuing her dream. As she stumbles and drops her tray, he jumps up and his fingers brush her arm, bringing a warm light from his hand to her. Suddenly, her burns are healed and her skin is unblemished, but in this town, a miracle might not be seen in a positive manner. In fact, it could be quite dangerous! He has no idea how he did it and runs outside in a panic. She catches up with him and she decides to trust her with the lack of knowledge he has about himself and why he is there.

Sarah opens up a bit about the troubles that have plagued the town, ever since a preacher came to town, and she and many others had started to listen to him. The preacher was called Marcus Wormwood and Landon will soon find he has a role to play in her life and keeping her safe. She helps take him to Emily, but he isn’t allowed to speak to her, as her aunt seems to think he is just like Marcus. Marcus was different than any other preacher any of them had seen, saying that if they spoke in faith, they could change reality itself, choosing their own destiny! There is something wrong with that scenario and he started performing miracles, healing people and helping turn people’s lives around. But suddenly, everyone that had been blessed by Marcus started meeting with huge misfortune. Marcus called Sarah to him and told her she was Chosen, and she had to sleep with him, and if she didn’t, then the whole town would be cursed. He disappeared after the fire, but she hadn’t dared to leave town because of the curse, ever since! Sarah tells Landon he can be anything he wants, he can choose his own future and be who he wants to be, he doesn’t have to be evil, like the other clerk said he was. Visiting the hospital, hoping to learn more about what happened, he gets a few shocking surprises. The story continues, with Sarah helping Landon as best as she can to learn about his past and what is happening. Added into the tale are loads of scripture references and discussion, with the local librarian in particular, which adds a lot to the length of the book. Talk of angels, demons, being possessed and even an exorcism, with a few hints at what Landon is really there to do, bring more questions than answers. Landon gets glimpses of memories of his past, but they are fleeting and don’t give him many answers. He feels pulled to Rome, where some of his memories are from and he needs to see the people he hurt there, and find out what happened to them.

Not a story some will like, due to big sections of scripture and deep thought behind lots of what is happening, but there is a wider storyline behind all of it, that is just introducing us to the main character and seeing where this leads him. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

In fantasy books, good and evil battle but this was a battle unlike any, this was a battle of discovery, of lost memories and of righteousness, following a magnificent plot wrapped up in turmoil.
Who is Landon Walker? What was he doing in a tiny town? How did he get there? All this plagues a man with no memory, not even a glimmer. The only reason he knows this name is the ID he found in his pocket. What a great character, the inner workings of his brain laid out extremely realistically, I sank right into his dilemma, fascinated by the events that transpired. And golly were both Landon and I both surprised at the revelations! Nothing in life is cut and dry, and as Landon slowly uncovers more of himself, this quote stood out like a beacon, "Knowlege without wisdom is like carrying the world's sharpest sword with no training at all".

With no clue who he is, what he is, why he is, Landon gets aid from a scarred young waitress, Sarah. The only thing he can remember is a little girl called Emily. His initial findings convince him that that he's not a good person, that he is evil, like the false prophet Marcus. Although, Sarah's conviction is so pure, that Landon is nothing like Marcus, after all, as she states, "Evil doesn't go after what's evil. It attacks what's good". Sarah is pure, trusting, generous of soul, aiding a complete stranger. The nature of her compassion and kindness couldn't stand out more than the selfless act she performed, saving children with no thought to her own safely. Indeed, she was damaged physically by this deed, yet not an iota of regret eminates from her. I love the realism the author captures, the emotional turmoil in both Landon and Sarah, who carry guilt like a yoke, weighing them down. The likes of Zacharias, his wisdom, his entire being almost otherworldly, Emily, who oozes an exuberant love and faith so strong are incredibly convincing characters. Even the evil of Marcus and his agenda is authentic, real. This entire book offers a perspective of realism under layers of fictional characters and events, one the author excelled at ensnaring me in a web of lies, deceipt, goodness, and a heavenly love that has the capacity to conquer all, one only needs to reach out and absorb this love.

My goodness was this book profound! I mean , these words, "The journey ahead may be difficult but you are not alone" rang so true, so much resonated with me, so much spun my mind over, so much was felt in my very core. I was questioning, my choices, my needs, well, everything! One thing is certain, just like Landon after meeting Zacharias, I too felt lighter after reading this book, stronger even. It had such an effect on me, I even sent the author this message, "I just had to stop reading for a moment to let you know something, I feel as though God is sending me strength through this book. I've been through the ringer, on and off but always lurking, especially the last 2 weeks have been extremely stressful. I'm both emotional and lifted up at the same time reading your book". I don't think I've ever read a book that was as uplifting as this one, a book that took my doubts, my fears, my dreadful experiences and washed them all away with hope, a hope, a love so strong and bright that a sense of peace eclipsed me, my cross so much lighter to bear. A book packed with conflictions, love, faith and forgiveness, I strongly recommend it!

In The Unfallen, Lamb embarks on a compelling journey that intertwines mystery, faith, and action, seamlessly merging the sanctity of Christian culture with the exhilarating pace of a meticulously crafted thriller.

From the first line, the narrative captures your attention and refuses to release it. Our protagonist, Landow Walker, plunges into a complex, intense mystery that may compel you to dog-ear pages just to catch your breath.
Lamb’s academic background in theology is evident throughout the text, as he enriches the narrative with Biblical quotes and profound Christian themes. However, readers need not be devout to appreciate the story; it primarily functions as a supernatural thriller, and Lamb’s adept writing ensures that individuals of all beliefs can enjoy the unexpected twists, turns, and well-structured plot.

What resonated with me most about this tale is its ability to seamlessly integrate high-stakes action with profound theological exploration and an unwavering sense of purpose. Lamb writes with a cinematic flair, rendering each chase, revelation, and confrontation between angels and demons as urgent, captivating, and authentic. Landow is not merely a lost soul; he embodies a warrior navigating the delicate balance between redemption and destruction. Witnessing his journey to unravel the mysteries of his past is both thrilling and emotionally resonant.

As a Christian life coach and pastor, as well as a forensic psychologist, I find myself highly intrigued by the works of this author. Having extensively explored the realms of the supernatural and the occult in my past experience as a High Priest, I am consistently fascinated by the various perspectives others offer on this subject.

Oh, Judah Lamb, you clever literary chameleon. Under yet another pen name, one of my favorite authors has spun a supernatural thriller that’s equal parts spine-tingling suspense and theological tapestry. In The Unfallen, Lamb takes us on a gripping journey of mystery, faith, and action that blends the holiness of Christian culture with the raw adrenaline of a well-crafted thriller.

From the first line, the book grabs you by the collar and doesn’t let go. Our hero, Landow Walker, dives headfirst into a mystery so layered and intense you might find yourself dog-earing pages just to breathe (or is that just me?). Questions abound, and answers are drip-fed with tantalizing precision, keeping you glued until the very last word.

Now, let’s talk theology. The author’s academic master’s degree in the subject shines through every page, infusing the narrative with Biblical quotes and rich Christian themes. But don’t let that scare you off if you’re not the devout type. This is first and foremost a supernatural thriller, and Lamb’s skillful writing ensures that anyone—regardless of belief—can savor the twists, turns, and well-grounded plot.

Yes, we’re in the realm of the supernatural, but nothing here feels flimsy or haphazard. The plot is rock-solid, with action sequences that had me on the edge of my seat and characters so vivid I half-expected them to leap off the page and join me for tea.

As a fan of this author’s many pen names and series, I can confidently say that Judah Lamb does not disappoint. If this is the start of a series, I’m already clearing shelf space for Landow Walker’s next adventure. Bring it on, Lamb—you’ve got me hooked. Again.

This is the first book in a new series by a new author, it is a supernatural thriller with strong overtones of christian beliefs thrown in. This book is for those who have faith and believe in God, his angels and demons. It is not a book for atheists like myself, however saying this i still quite enjoyed the suspense and loved the characters of Sarah and Emily, the young woman and the child who decided to look out for Landon, who appeared suffering from total amnesia. Landon woke up in a field, remembering nothing from his past, who he was or where he'd come from. Some labelled him a demon, however both young women believed him to be a good man especially after he cured Sarah's face from her scars, which she had gotten through saving Emily and her brother from a fire. This book is a fight between good and evil and most of it is happening within Landon himself. Is he an angel or a demon and can one person be both? Emily and Sarah had faith, as did Zacharias, the ancient librarian, who knew the scriptures off by heart, but Landon feared he would bring more pain on to those he cared for and the small town which had already suffered so much through Marcus who was not what he seemed to be!! The suspense runs very high in this book but the quoting of the bible makes this series not a good match for me!

From the very first page of The Unfallen, Judah Lamb plunges us into a world where miracles, mystery, and menace collide—and I was hooked. Landon Walker wakes up in a field with no memory, no past, and no idea who he really is. But the moment he starts healing the sick and drawing the attention of supernatural forces, it becomes clear: he isn’t just an ordinary man. He’s something more. Something powerful. Something both heaven and hell are watching.

What I loved most about this story is how it seamlessly blends high-stakes action, deep theological intrigue, and an unshakable sense of purpose. Lamb writes with a cinematic edge, making every chase, every revelation, and every battle between angels and demons feel urgent, gripping, and real. Landon is more than just a lost soul—he’s a warrior caught between redemption and destruction, and watching him unravel the mystery of his past was both thrilling and emotional.

Fans of Frank Peretti’s supernatural thrillers or the sharp wit of Good Omens will find plenty to love here, but Lamb’s storytelling has a unique weight and urgency that makes The Unfallen stand out. If you enjoy high-octane suspense, deep spiritual questions, and a protagonist who must face the darkness within and without, this book will keep you turning pages late into the night.

The Unfallen is the first book in Judah Lamb’s new series. When I started reading it, I didn’t know what to find between its covers, but what I found was way different than what I thought it would be. The Unfallen will pull you into its world, keeping you glued to its pages, wondering what is happening and how it will turn out in the end.

The mystery of the story will keep you hanging on wanting to know more and more the more you read. I liked the part about all of us having good and evil in us. I liked it because I do believe we all have good and evil in us.

We all have to choose which one we let shine more. Sometimes, we have to work at keeping one or the other in control. I think that we have to have a balance of one or the other. Balance does not mean that you have to let one shine more than the other or that it has to be equal to balance.

A man wakes up in a field with no memory of who he is or why he is there. Something evil or what he believes to be evil comes after him and of course, he runs to the small town not far away where he meets Sarah. Sarah takes Landon under her wing and tries to help him find out who he is.

I can’t wait to see what Landon has in store for us in the next book Broken Wings.

This was a really interesting read from the very start, imagine waking up and having no idea who you are, etc. Then you magically? Heal someone and … well, I’m not here to summarize the book. I just found it all so intriguing.

Mysteries everywhere.
Small town.
Christian elements.
Demons.
Good vs evil.
Small town setting.
Cult vibes.

Ultimately:
Very predictable, but very fun. Would read more from this pen name and may be open to venturing on into the series, though I don’t feel a strict ‘need’ to either. I enjoyed my time in this book—4 stars.

🎧 Audio:
It was good. Overall: pretty smooth sound quality. Author-narrated means, obviously, he could depict the emotions as he intended them to come across—who better to narrate a book than its author? In this instance, he could be a bit robotic at times, but most of it was great! 4 stars.

I listened to the audiobook and overall like the narration. There was a few times of repetitive phases and some phasing out on the volume. I am not sure if the duplicate phases were in the written book or just narrator error. But these were minor items.

This story is a Christian fiction thriller, thus lots of scripture quoted. I thought the author did a very good job of interweaving Christian beliefs with the story of people fighting the demons trying to mold the people to sin. I loved his point, all can be redeem if they seek forgiveness for their sins, repent, and ask God for his grace.

Good read. Book draws you in and Hooks you. The characters felt pretty lifelike. Theology wise as author wrote at the end of the book I agree with for the most part (nothing that stands out). I like that the author points out a bit to focus on the important theology. What christ did for us. What that means. Vs things that in my opinion don't further the church and often cause church splits. Plus we ought to listen to what people say and compare it to God's word even if it comes from a preacher or priest. (This book starts with a preacher who had bad designs.) Woven like a good story not a Bible commentary. Good plot.

I’m not particularly a fan of thrillers. Life has enough thrills and, while most good writing has some element of suspense, so I prefer that not to be the focus.
Unfallen was different. From the first page, so many questions, about Landon, Sarah, Emily, and the fate of this one little (cursed) rural town. Great worldbuilding, and the characters (good and bad) are compelling (and almost universally broken – thus human).
The religious angle is very much front-and-center (it is Christian fiction) but woven in well – lessons and values included, but in the plot, not characters stopping to just sermonize.
Excited for this author to keep producing similar, high quality work.

The Unfallen: A Christian Supernatural Thriller and Suspense Novel (The Unfallen Series (Landon Walker Thrillers) Book 1), my seventy-second read from author Theophilus Monroe, the first under his nom-de-plume Judah Lamb. Another well written & enjoyable read, the first in his new Landon Walker Thriller series. I was given a Kindle copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. I look forward to reading the next book in the series, Broken Wings: A Christian Supernatural Thriller and Suspense Novel (The Unfallen Series (Landon Walker Thrillers) Book 2), it's already on my TBR list. Falling INTO Grace

Not only is this a powerful story of trials, temptations, errors, frailty and Faith.

More it's an action packed drama and suspense filled bunch of mysteries.

Ultimately, it is also a testimony to the power of Hod, to use even the most broken and damaged bits of a person, their Fairh, their actions, to be used by Grace.

If you're a fan of action, intruige and drama - there's all that, with even a hint of possible romance.

as a book geek, and a broken healer, I also really enjoyed the clever use of a variety of figures, theologies, and literary devices - and things still blow up and go bang.

freaking awesome!

Received as an ARC, I am leaving my honest review. Incredibly inspirational is what I can tell anyone! Also gripping, adrenaline pumping and thought provoking, with a fast moving plot and a characters that are strong in conviction and faith, determined to conquer the darkness while setting out on a mission of discovering the truth. This is a new side to a favorite author of mine, but it is a welcome change that shows the depth of his character and strength in his devotion to our Lord.

This was hard to stop reading - the premise grabbed my attention; the action kept my attention; the people grew my attention. This is not the first thriller I read with an amnesiac main character trying to discover who he is and causing havoc (good or bad) in doing so, but this one? Very different! Very gripping! I highly recommend this to fans of Declan Finn's Saint Tommy of New York series.

Good story about Landon Waker, a kid who wakes up in a cornfield with no memory. As he works to recover his memory, he meets Sarah, a local waitress, who agrees to help him in his quest. As Landon seeks the truth, he is approached by an angel and a demon who each have an interest in Sarah. Will Landon obey GOD and protect Sarah, or listen to the demon and corrupt her?

This is a thought-provoking book. The Screwtape letters meets This Present Darkness. I’m not sure theologically, that fallen angels can be redeemed, but it's an interesting premise. There are some grammatical and spelling errors, as well as parts that were repetitive, and I had some plot questions, so I dropped it a star.

A very good story.
Landon is in a strange town with no memory as to how he got there and who he is. He does have recollections of bible verses and recalls something happening to him in Rome in the distant past.
As the story unfolds you realize that you are never alone.
