I am a huge fan of Laura Marquez Diamond's writing, I think she has a wonderful ability to capture your interest with unusual, but believable scenarios, and to bring characters vividly to life. I really enjoyed Overtime, it included a story arc that I hadn't read before with the focus on amnesia, but still included LMD's trademark smart characterisation, an interest in social conscience and equality, and of course some deliciously spicy scenes.
When Beatrice wakes from an accident, she doesn't recognise her husband, Logan, at all. Her amnesia means they are starting their relationship from scratch despite living together and being married for years. This is an unusual second-chance romance. It's quite emotional watching them build/rebuild a relationship, making it stronger and better than the first time around. Logan is very sweetly obsessed with his wife, but has some anger management issues that come out when he's on the ice or through other parts of his work. This was hard to read, and I was impressed with how Beatrice calmly dealt with him and removed herself from these situations, while still finding ways to support him.
In a reading first for me, Beatrice has Haitian heritage, and I really enjoyed the part of the book when she visits relatives in Haiti, as it added a dimension and interest that is sorely lacking from a lot of romance novels.
With thanks to Laura Marquez Diamond for the ARC, this is my honest opinion.
This book is filled with big, tumultuous emotions, so please be aware of the author’s content note before diving headfirst into this story. Bea and Logan’s is an unconventional second chance, particularly since neither of them realized they were going to need one. It’s at once heartbreaking and uplifting to see all the obstacles they have to face and then witnessing them overcome them. I kind of feel like I’ve run out of the right words to describe everything I went through while reading this book, because it truly was an emotional rollercoaster. I was so grateful to see this pair achieve the ending they got, but there’s a part of me that wishes the book weren’t over already. I'm craving more of the author’s hockey heroes, so while I wait for the next story to be produced, I think I may have to go back and re-read everything. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.
“Kissing Beatrice is like abundant rain after a drought, seeping nutrients into my very depths and stirring new life. It’s going to be impossible to stop.”
This was different to my usual reads, different in a good way though! Most of my reads are a relationship developed overtime whereas this their is already a relationship however our FMC has lost her memory due to a car accident, she remembers her parents when she wakes but not her husband. But the author did it so well as it did a past and present so we got to see how their relationship blossomed in the first place and how it is now, things have changed so has Beatrice, the only thing that hasn’t is Logan’s feelings for her. There are some pretty intense and emotional times throughout this book, I won’t say much as I don’t want to spoil it. They do eventually learn to love again and it does have a happy ending.
It is not a traditional second chance love story as Beatrice has amnesia, and Logan is trying to remind his his wife why she fell in love with him.
I loved the way the book was set out, showing us how they fell in love the first time, alongside her trying to learn about their new relationship.
Both characters have a lot to learn about themselves and their relationship. Logan is so in love with Beatrice. In his eye, she can do no wrong, but she's not that person anymore. She doesn't know who she is and goes on a very emotional journey, finding out about who she became after college.
I really enjoyed watching them falling in love again, but with everything they go through, it's a much stronger love this time around.
This was such a great book looking at what happens when you have to rebuild a relationship and all the possibly unhealthy patterns people can get into whilst doing their best to make a relationship work. Is total devotion enough to sustain a relationship? How much is it really possible to give up of yourself to make sure it works out with the person you love? Logan and Beatrice had the perfect relationship, and they worked hard for it. But when Bea forgets about it all, will they be able to get their relationship back? Will they be able to make a new one? Or is the past too much to handle?
Such an imaginative concept (the relationship building) and such a great book! Loved it!
I'm never disappointed with anything this author throws out and an emotional roller coaster and heavy subject matter, this book really got me good. It's so real and emotional and heartbreaking filled with a second chance for Beatrice to fall in love with Logan all over again after an accident leaves her suffering with memory loss. Logan is such a strong, wonderful mmc who just doesn't give up on his true love and Beatrice deserves it all even as she has to come to terms with starting over. Grab the tissues, it's heavy but oh so wonderfully executed. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Beatrice and Logan are the "perfect" couple from the outside, but their foundation is rocked when an accident takes Beatrice's memories. This was an emotional rollercoaster of finding yourself while in the middle of a long-term partnership. Logan has a lifetime of love and memories, and Beatrice thinks of herself as pre - and post-Beatrice. She needs to figure out how she got to where she is in life because it's not where her lack of memories would have led her. The story was raw and heart-wrenching but true to life.
This book was an emotional rollercoaster of sadness. I know it’s hard when a person finds they have amnesia & we should feel bad for them but for some reason I felt more bad for Logan in this story. He seemed too obsessively protective of Bea but just wanted to rewrite their future without some of the traumatic pain they already went thru & create new memories. He had me cackling with his praise for Costco though. Funny line I liked:
“Maybe. But it costs a dollar fifty, comes with a drink, and tastes like joy. They’re practically paying me to eat this.”
Loved it! The couple was so well written. Overcoming trauma and difficulties to be fully dedicated to each other's happiness. A beautiful thing❤️ So many different issues brought up in this book that I beleive many people will be able to connect with. Everything was very well represented. As a woman who also suffered miscarriages, Beatrice is a very inspiring and comforting character.
First time reading this author and oh my-did she draw me into this emotional and thought-provoking story. Beatrice wakes from an accident to find that she has lost most of her past. Logan finds the woman he loves and worships has no memory of them. I felt every deep thought, feelings of inadequacy and realizations that Beatrice as she experienced the “amnesiac's worst nightmare: I don't know anyone, yet everyone knows me.” Their reawakening as a couple is a difficult but beautiful journey. Amidst this challenge each of them must deal with their emotions and the hidden secrets behind being the ‘perfect couple’ in other’s eyes. This unique second chance was so well-written with heartbreak, deep loss, character growth, discoveries, deep passion, revelations, bits of humor, and a love that stands strong amidst devastation. I will definitely look into this author more!
“We can build a hundred new lives, Beatrice Cole Ackerman. And I promise you this, I will love you in all of them.”
Wow, this was such an amazing read, exploring what love looks like when one of the couple forgets the other. Bea and Logan have just celebrated their 6 year wedding anniversary but, when Bea has a car accident and looses her memory everything changes. She has no recollection of Logan at all, so the big, intense hockey player hovering around her is a little off-putting. But as they spend time together flashes of memory's come back, not all of them good though, so can she trust him or not? Logan come across as a teddy bear but he has some deeper issues and as Bea is trying to connect to her life she discovers things that she left by the wayside long ago. I loved seeing them reconnect and it was interesting to see Bea become a different version of herself, but I think we all, sometimes. give things up for practical reasons and then just never have a chance to re-pursue them
I really enjoyed this book though the ending fell flat for me. It was super rushed and I feel like something is missing to their story. Good read and great character. I just wish for a better HEA
If you want. no need an emotional, angsty, swoon worthy, second chance, protective mmc, fiesty mmc, trauma bonding book. then this one is just what you need. it also shows no matter what you go through, true relationships (be it friends or love) will withstand any trouble and challenges. please do yourself a favour and read this book!!
It's been a while since I've read anything by this author. I think this may be the best one yet. It is very emotional about a relationship of a husband and wife, where the wife has amnesia and doesn't remember her husband. The husband is still madly in love with her, and they have to start all over. Logan needs ro make Beatrice fall in love with him, all over again. So heartbreaking at times, I found myself getting wound up in the characters. I will definitely now read the whole serious. I love hockey romances, but this is more about the love between them than the sport. Logan's love is perfect.
This book was so gritty and realistic with the progression of events and the relationship between the fmc and mmc!
“We can build a hundred new lives, Beatrice Cole Ackerman. And I promise you this, I will love you in all of them.”
Bea can’t remember when she fell in love with Logan the first time but she was able to fall in love with him all over again. They get a second chance to live their lives for themselves and it was amazing!
Another winning shot. This one follows Logan and Beatrice. What would you do if your long time love was tested in the hardest of ways…the loss of memories? Well Logan is every woman’s dream. He is supportive, loving, dedicated, possessive and willing to do whatever he needs to do to take care of Bea. Bea is lost. She has no memory of their lives together. While trying to rebuild herself she starts the trek of self discovery. I really enjoyed this one. The trials that they went through. To watch and feel what they felt while growing together stronger than before was amazing.
wow!!! wow!!! there are so many emotions in this book!! this book is gonna stick with me for a long time. the love Logan and Beatrice have for each other is so beautiful. Logan is so in love with Beatrice. that is forever love. The pain and suffering these two have been through is so much. not only is this book about Beatrice finding her memories, but it's about growth as a couple, too. I really recommend this book!!!
This was such a good book. It's a second chance romance with an amnesia twist. I loved that the couple had to get their lives back together after tragedy strikes. Logan has been doing his thing in hus hockey career while loving his wife. Beatrice is married to the love of her life, Logan. At least, that's the feeling she's getting from everyone. This book gave all the feels.
Logan and Bea are amazing. It’s refreshing to see someone like Logan who supports Bea through everything she’s going through. Another awesome and well written book! Bravo!
Overtime is a standalone in the author’s Columbus Mavericks series. I hadn’t read the others, but went back to do so before reading this one because I was worried I would miss something integral to this story, but I can honestly say that if you haven’t read the prior books, you don’t need to in order to fully enjoy this one. There are references to Logan and Beatrice, but nothing that will cause you to feel like something is missing without having read them. THAT SAID, they are all awesome stories and well worth your time to read!
Logan is a devoted husband, and loves Bea wholeheartedly and completely. They’re college sweethearts, and considered to be the perfect couple & soulmates. Logan would do absolutely anything for his wife, and lives to see her happy and make her smile. They’re a team, and their love for each other shines. Unfortunately, Bea gets into an accident, and the resulting brain trauma causes her to suffer amnesia. Bea no longer remembers Logan, or any part of their life together.
Logan is now a stranger to her, and she can’t reconcile who she knows herself to be after the accident against who everyone tells her she was before it. Logan’s desperately trying to help the love of his life remember what they shared, and struggling to accept that despite their years together, they might not get back to what they had. Does Bea even want to try reconnecting with a virtual stranger, or will she decide to take her life in a different direction?
The story raises a lot of interesting questions about how love can survive when only one person remembers it having existed. Does the one left with memories hold on too tightly to the past, or can they learn to love the person for who they are now and start over? Who do they really love - the person themselves or the memory of who they were? It’s kind of painful to even think about something like this happening, and I could feel the struggles and confusion and pain that both of them experienced.
Although both Bea and Logan make some mistakes along their new journey to each other, the love is still there and new bonds and memories can be forged.
🎨 “I might not know everything, but I know I love you.”

This must be my month for new authors ~ and Laura is FANTASTIC! I was completely invested in Beatrice and Logan’s story. There were so many heartwarming parts of their journey. But what I loved most was that even at their lowest point, they refused to give up on each other.
Incredibly, through it all, Logan is a consistent presence in Bea’s life. He falls first. And, they both make sacrifices to become successful ~ Logan becoming a pro-hockey player and Bea starting her own interior design business. But what really made the biggest impact for me was how Bea takes control of her recovery, taking her time to discover who she is and what she wants out of this new life she finds herself experiencing.
There were some very emotional moments in their story. It left me brokenhearted at one point as I could completely sympathize with the trauma Bea and Logan went through with all the doctors, the tests, and waiting every month, only to be utterly disappointed.
📚 Favorite Moments:
💋 Painting has been my refuge and my escape. The studio is the one place where I exist in the moment instead of digging up my past or worrying about my future. I peek from behind the canvas to find his tall form in a Mavericks hoodie and jeans.
💋 “It’s only superstition if it doesn’t work.”
💋 “We can build a hundred new lives, Beatrice Cole Ackerman. And I promise you this, I will love you in all of them.”
Over Time by Laura Marquez Diamond was an emotional rollercoaster in the best way possible. From start to finish, this book kept me on the edge of my seat, completely invested in the deeply moving romance between Beatrice and Logan. Their journey is full of heart, healing, and second chances, and it’s one you won’t soon forget.
Beatrice’s amnesia leaves her with no memory of her past, including the love she once shared with Logan. Logan, ever the devoted partner, is determined to remind her of their love story and rekindle the bond they once had. What I loved most about Over Time was that their relationship had already been established before the story begins. Instead of watching them fall in love, we get to witness them navigating a second chance at the love they thought they'd lost, adding a rich layer of depth and emotion to the narrative.
And Logan—wow. He’s every woman’s dream. Supportive, loving, and dedicated to Bea in every way, he’s willing to do whatever it takes to help her remember the life they built together. His possessiveness is rooted in his unwavering devotion, and it made me fall for him even more. Their bond was both tender and fiery, and watching them reclaim what was lost was nothing short of beautiful.
Over Time explores the power of love and the healing that comes with second chances, and it’s guaranteed to tug at your heartstrings. This emotional journey with Beatrice and Logan, showing us the complexities of rebuilding a life together after tragedy.
As always, my reviews are my own opinions and completely voluntary—no monetary compensation was received.
I loved this story for several reasons. Number one: Logan is husband goals. Watching his patience and selfless love for Bea while she figures out how to navigate her new/old world is a thing of beauty. Number two: holy moly the spice is next level. I think I drooled a little with the, "Begging looks good on you, wife" line. Number three: I really liked the way they addressed the main point of conflict. I loved that it didn't follow the typical romance novel system where the couple ends their relationship and they have to win the other back. I thought the way this book addressed these things demonstrated a love that endures and doesn't just quit when things get rough. Number four: I thought the way we looked at amnesia in this book was really insightful. I liked how we got to see how Bea viewed her new/old world through a second chance lens. It was a new chance to build an even better life than the one she had before. It was a very positive spin on a very tragic situation. We all felt the guilt and frustration right along with her: not remembering her husband, friends, job, life! Learning who she had grown into and how she wanted to rediscover her roots.
What would you do if the one person in your life that you knew you loved more than anything, just didn't recognize you? That's what this book does, it gives you insight into the love that surrounds you while you're really trying to figure out who you are again.
It hurt, this one definitely hurt. I felt for Logan as he struggled to be the best husband he could be to someone he knew so well but who saw him as a stranger. It was like they were almost right there. Bea's accident turned him down a path of discovery. Not just of who he was but of who they were together. And honestly that's the best kind of romance, discovering the difference between your memories of the person you loved and the times you had together and the reality of who they are now.
I loved this one, had some real struggles getting through it. Not due to the writing but due to the feelings this book brought up in me. And this was a lovely way to dual view point something and have the readers not only connect with the woman falling in love, but fall along right with her to the man who is truly just trying to do his best.
A captivating and well written romance read. This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster with our main characters Beatrice and Logan. Beatrice has amnesia, and Logan is trying to remind her of why they fell in love. I love that the relationship had already been established and how Diamond allows us to walk alongside them as they traverse a new bond. This book hit especially hard for me as I currently have someone near and dear struggling with the confusion that dementia brings so the loss of memories is so potent as I'm experiencing it with them on a regular basis and while that situation is completely different than that of our main characters here I feel the pain in a real way which made this all the more real for me as a reader. I loved how these two found a new, deeper-rooted love. Just a beautiful journey that hopefully helps us not to take the people and things in life for granted. Thank you for this read!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I voluntarily provided this review.
How do you make it back to what you once had when a car accident causes Beatrice to have amnesia? Why is Beatrice feeling like she is not herself outside of the fact she cannot remember anything including that Logan is her husband. Why does she keep having recurring nightmares about the hospital? What is Logan keeping from her? Logan feels he has to protect Beatrice, but Beatrice wants to find her way back, what happens when she finds that Logan has kept something she feels is vital to her. Can Beatrice adjust to the lose of her memory and can Logan let go of trying to protect her every step. Can Logan let Beatrice work it out on her own and get his mind back in to what is important to him, getting grounded with what is familiar and important to him, hockey and help the Mavericks win the Stanley Cup. This story shows how we continue. How our resilience helps us get through the day to day of life, with family, friends, a community, and love.
"We belong together. I know it like I know the sun is coming up tomorrow."
Beatrice wakes up in the hospital after an accident with a strange man by her bedside. This man is her husband but she can't remember him.
I really love the amnesia trope but I wasn't quite prepared for how much I would love this story. I did like Bea and really felt for her, the way she couldn't understand who she had seemed to become calling her pre amnesia self "The Bea" but for me it was Logan I lost my heart to. This man was dying inside that his wife couldn't remember him and there are so many lines inside this book that made me swoon. It was an amazing story giving us their past story from Logans point of view intertwined with the present day and the struggles they had to try to reclaim a future together. Do read the triggers before reading as there is a sensitive issue that some readers may find distressing, but for me it was an excellent read and I loved every last swoony minute.
This isn’t a book you should pick up when you need an easy, light read. This covers some incredibly heavy topics, albeit as gently as possible. Bea begins the book with amnesia, and with a husband who loves her beyond reason. Is a love one one remembers enough to keep them together? Will the person Beatrice is now even want to try again? It’s well written and incredibly emotional. I feel like it was a little unfair to Logan—but I understand to some extent what the author was trying to say. Please be sure you read the trigger warnings before getting too absorbed in this one! It’s very well written—and will absolutely tear your heart out before giving you a pretty decent HEA. I’ve enjoyed this entire series, and am honestly impressed at how completely different each book has been. All unique and wonderful in their own ways. Four stars for sure!
We see Logan and Bea face a traumatic event in their lives. After a car accident Bea awakes with amnesia not knowing who Logan is and that they are married. You see Bea struggle through the TBI and dealing with all the emotions that go with it.
Logan has to deal with losing his wife, not physically but emotionally. Trying to be there for her. Overprotective is his middle name and making mistakes that could have cost him everything. Their love weathered the storm and became something better and stronger. She recovered some of her memories but not all.
I love that this author based this series in Columbus. I don’t see that very often. Also liked that she brought some good vibes to the Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio. This community brought an economic boost to a city in a downward spiral.
This is not my usual read, but it was definitely a good one. Heart wrenching, rollercoaster, rip your heart out and put it back together kind of book- but amazing.
This was not your traditional second chance love story. Beatrice has amnesia and Logan is trying to remind his wife why she fell in love with him.
Logan is so in love with Beatrice. In his eye, she can do no wrong, but she's not that person anymore. She doesn't know who she is and goes on a very emotional journey to find that out. But Logan sticks with her through it all and they fall back in love all over again. True love knows no bounds, as they have proven. The road wasn’t easy, but they made it. This story was beautifully written.
