The Revere Trilogy #3

Solace By Fire

Rate this book
All things come to an end.

Adelaide has always dreamed of one thing: freedom. Now, deeper in the West Rim than ever before, her second shadow—the mysterious Stranger—grows more restless, bloodthirsty, and dangerously real.

Tesla’s fight to carve a future for herself and other women like her reaches a turning point. Will her vision of a new world for women succeed, or will it crumble beneath the weight of ruthless progress, just like the Tov Shadow Nation before them?

But the dangers don’t stop there. An evil hunger haunts the storm-ravaged canyons of the West Rim, and the man who almost destroyed them two Seasons ago is still a looming threat. Alongside the deadly pestilence, the Revere women must rely on one another if they want to survive.

Solace by Fire is the heart-pounding, action-packed conclusion to the Revere Trilogy—a feminist fantasy epic filled with bloodshed, betrayal, and unbreakable bonds. If you love fierce heroines, high stakes, and gripping world-building, this is the thrilling finale you’ve been waiting for.

“𝙅𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙬𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣.”

I did it. I returned to The Rim. Previous forays into the Republic of Delilah introduced me to the feral power of the Reveres. They also brought pain and grief and betrayal. But if Tesla (The Widow) can endure, if her girls Navy (The Rook), Leagan (The Raptor), and Adelaide (The Stranger) can endure, then so must I. For J L Delevega has gifted her readers with membership into the Revere Clan and the feelings run deep.

“𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙣 𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙚𝙡, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙘𝙧𝙪𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙮 𝙞𝙩.”

Solace By Fire is everything SAOS and ALV promised it would be. The Reveres, in defiance of their enemies’ ignorance and greed, are somehow even more ruthless. They need to be. They need to survive. Tesla Revere, having lost both mother and daughter, now steers Rook, Raptor, Stranger, and Raleigh through their despair and into a future that they all dared to imagine. Treachery, misogyny, and Pestilence stand in their way.

“𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙄 𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙄 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙙𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝?”

I sipped J L Delavega’s unique and flavourful prose slowly and savoured her vivid layerings. I was immersed with the Revere clan as Adelaide investigated the ghosts of the Rim, as Tesla plotted, Leagan protected, and Navy researched. I felt every sorrow and defeat and indignation. The writing is so unsettling yet compassionate. Sometimes I had to put the book down, because I felt so overwhelmed. I persevered because the Reveres did. This was brilliant, haunting, and righteous.

“𝙄 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 … 𝙡𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙪𝙜𝙡𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙩 𝙞𝙨, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙞𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠, 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙡𝙡 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙗𝙚𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙪𝙡, 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙗𝙗𝙤𝙧𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚, 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨.”

Perfectly alkaline.

Woah!! What an absolutely wild ride!

I can't believe it's over! I definitely go a little misty there at the end.

What an action-packed and explosive end to this trilogy! This was nothing short of everything the Revere women deserved.

I just don’t even know what to say or how to start this. I have loved these characters and this story for so long, and now it's over.

Delavega absolutely brought it with this finale. It had everything I loved about the previous books and so much more. I got that grit. That brutality. That unyielding strength that had me falling head over heels for this world and these women. Then, there was a bit more exploration into the horror and gothic elements as well, and it was perfect. She weaved an incredible story that had me guessing until the last page. I felt like she kept throwing curve balls at me while reading, but nothing took away from the overarching theme of the story. What was actually happening to these women and the world they live in. I don’t want to give too much away, so I will just leave it at that.

This story really put on display all that The Rim is and the toll that it takes on those who live there. If you aren’t prepared, if you aren’t strong enough, it will chew you up and spit you back out. You’ll be lucky to come out of it alive. AND I LOVE IT!

These women will always hold a special place in my heart. Moira, Vesta, Tesla, Adelaide, Navy, and Leaghan; they all mean so much to me in different ways. Evan and Raleigh, too. Navy is just the absolute coolest. So smart! She shined so bright in this story, and I love how her family rallied around her. Tesla really led the charge. Using everything in her arsenal (both literally and figuratively) to keep her family safe and get them everything they deserve. Adelaide did what she does best. Solved problems and scared everyone. Getting to live in her head (and the Strangers) is such a unique experience, and I love it. She is just so different from other characters I’ve read. Leaghan was the real shining star for me. I have always loved this girl, and I feel like every book I have found a new reason to embrace her chaos. She had a particular moment in this book that was one of my absolute favorites, and I love her for it.

This book really brought me back to why I love Westerns and Steampunk. They are such beloved genres to me, and I always seem to leave them by the wayside. I just got that settled feeling while reading that this is exactly where I wanted to be.

I will miss getting to visit The Rim. Riding the rails with the Reveres. Uncovering secrets lost to history. Being no man’s peace and seeking absolute vengeance. It has been an incredible journey!

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow what an ending to the trilogy. I enjoyed this a lot. It was action packed and an utter bloodbath!

I thought the cover for this book was gorgeous. It's quite eye catching and striking. The attention to detail is wonderful.

The book is well written and flows nicely. It's descriptive and provided some very interesting visuals!

The characterisation was excellent. They really helped add to the atmosphere of the book. Adelaide and Tesla were good characters and I enjoyed watching their stories unfold.

The book is written in first person from Adelaide and Tesla's point of view. Which worked well in the story.

I recommend this book and trilogy. It was a good read!

"There is a Season for everything. For storms and for vengeance. One for mended futures, and one of broken hearts. One of mercy, and one that shatters. A time for dawn and another by moons. A Season that rises. And a Season that ends."

I cannot believe I am writing these words. The tale of the Revere women has come to its end. And what a wild ride it was. I don't know that my words can do this story justice, but they'll just have to try. Because I would be remiss if I didn't tell you all just how much I loved this story, all the way down to my bones.

The Revere's are the toughest women on the Rim. Forged in the fires of adversity and quenched in the waters of hardship, life has not seen fit to make their road easy or their troubles light. But "Blessed are those who pass through the fire." Blessed are those who persevere.

This final installment picks up where Ash Like Vengeance left off. Everything the Revere women have worked for is finally at hand, but as usual, some fucking east bloods who think what's between their legs gives them the final say are standing in their way once again. The stakes in this final installment are higher, the rewards sweeter, and the potential for failure even greater than before. It's now or never. Either these women will succeed and finally be free, or they'll die trying.

And what can I say about each of them? These companions that feel so much like my own blood after three installments together? Tesla, tough as nails, nurturing, a mother through and through though her daughter has been taken from her. Navy, brilliant as any man could ever hope to be, kind despite the hardships of the Rim. Leagan, sharp of tongue and even sharper of claw, spunky and protective. And last, but certainly not least, Adelaide - The Stranger - the one who haunts the Rim. You don't want to get on her bad side. But at least you won't have to live long with the knowledge that you've crossed the line.

The way J.L.'s prose has me in a choke hold, the way I was on the edge of my seat the entire time as I, like the Revere women, raced towards the end. The way I gasped, the way I cursed, the way I thirsted...for blood, for vengeance, for retribution, and for justice. You get all of that and more with this book. I guarantee it.

These women will stay with me until the day I breathe my last.

I'll leave you with a few more parting words from Solace by Fire: "There is horror in survival." "We are what survives."

Whew. Solace by Fire left me gutted, breathless, and completely in awe. J.L. Delavega didn’t just end the Revere Trilogy—she ripped it wide open, set it ablaze, and handed me the ashes with a warning: nothing about freedom, survival, or sisterhood comes easy. And honestly? I loved every second of it.
I’ve been with Adelaide and Tesla from the beginning, watching them fight tooth and nail through blood, dust, and betrayal. But this book? This is where the stakes explode. The West Rim feels more dangerous than ever—not just physically, but emotionally, spiritually. That creepy tension from the first two books? It escalates into something primal here, especially with Adelaide’s second shadow growing more violent and real. It’s like watching someone wrestle a monster made of their own trauma and rage, and I couldn’t look away.
And Tesla. My god, Tesla. Her fight for something bigger—a future for women who’ve been crushed by the world—was heartbreaking and empowering all at once. Delavega doesn’t sugarcoat anything. Every moment of hope is balanced on a knife’s edge, and the truth is, not everyone makes it. But that’s what makes it real. You feel every sacrifice. Every choice that tears at their souls.
The horror elements were sharp and eerie—pestilence, hunger, ghosts of the past all crawling through those storm-drenched canyons. It’s got that creeping dread where you know something is about to hit, but you’re powerless to stop it. The pacing is relentless, the writing fierce and lyrical, and I legit had to set the book down more than once just to breathe.
What really stuck with me, though, is how much this story is about connection. Between women. Between pain and power. Between who we were and who we choose to become. The ending? Bittersweet, brutal, and beautifully earned. Not everything is tied up with a pretty bow, and thank god for that. Some stories deserve to leave you a little haunted.
If you’re looking for a dystopian tale that refuses to play nice—one that wraps horror, hope, and heartache into a finale that demands to be felt—Solace by Fire delivers. This wasn’t just a satisfying conclusion. It was a full-on reckoning. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Two truths can exist together, you know—victory and sorrow, flowers and poison." And Solace by Fire delivers both in haunting, heart-racing doses.

This finale didn’t just end the Revere Trilogy—it detonated it.

I mean, damn.
Blood, betrayal, pestilence, sisterhood, and one second shadow who is as terrifying as she is fascinating… this book had me white-knuckling the pages.

Adelaide?
A cold-blooded problem solver who lives rent-free in my head.
The Stranger?
Still one of the most unhinged and brilliant elements of this series.
Tesla? Leading the charge, spitting one-liners like knives, and giving me everything.
And Navy?? BABY GENIUS. I adored how her family wrapped around her, fierce and protective, while still letting her shine.

This is dystopian horror done right.
No sugarcoating, no fake empowerment just raw grit, trauma-worn resilience, and women who are sharp as broken glass and twice as dangerous.

Delavega doesn’t just write action, she builds a battlefield. Gunfights, knife fights, pestilence-soaked lore, and a West Rim so vividly wild and gothic you can feel the dust in your lungs.

Each chapter layered horror with heartache, history with vengeance. I laughed (Tesla’s sass is elite), I cried (yes, I got misty), and I gasped out loud more than once.

The emotional payoff? Absolutely worth every drop of blood spilled in this brutal world.

And don’t even get me started on the side characters. Leaghan? Icon.
Moira and Vesta? Powerhouses.
Evan and Raleigh? Heart.

Delavega gave us an ending that honors the pain and power of the Revere women. The Rim may chew you up and spit you out, but these women? They burn it down and build something stronger.

✨ Brutal. Brilliant. Unforgettable.

🖤 If you love dystopian Westerns, horror-laced action, and fierce women who don’t flinch Solace by Fire is your next obsession.

Some of the toughest, strongest and most dangerous female characters ever, the Rever sisters aim to claim their fair share of the West Rim no matter what. The West Rim is a dangerous place full of life-threatening dangers at every turn; pestilence and violent men who want it all regardless of who, or what is in the way. The book has plenty of action from gun fights and knife fights to other tough justice that you’d expect in such a lawless place. The characters are extremely well developed and thought out. These ladies are tough, but they have to be to survive. I wouldn’t cross them! I love this book and would read it over and over again.

Solace by Fire by J.L. Delavega.
The revere trilogy book 3.
This was a good read. I loved the cover and blurb of this book. That's the reason I signed up for this tour. Although I haven't read the first two books, I was still able to read it. I did like Adelaide, Leagan, Evangeline, Raleigh, and Kane. I really didn't see that coming. Surprises and twists into did see coming. I will definitely be reading the first two books. It's such a shame that this was the last book. Definitely recommend.

Solace of Fire just broke me. What an amazing end to the trilogy.

By now I feel that I have known these Revere ladies for a while and we have been through some things together. Some bad things. Some bloody things. But damn do these women keep on going, no matter what they face.

The story itself takes the family, and many of their foes, further into the West Rim, a dangerous place that holds the secrets to the pestilence, a rotting plague that turns people in grotesque versions of themselves, and the mines full of crystal, which can make a man–or in this case, a gang of very dangerous women–rich enough to live life however they please. But as the Revere sisters move to take their share of the Rim, they are faced with not only the pestilence seeping in, but also the men who aim to take the desert for all it’s worth, with little care for what (or whom) they destroy.

Solace of Fire does an excellent job of building on the trilogy. It is full of the action I have loved from the ladies: vicious gun fights, bloody knife battles, and other types of Rim themed justice. It also delves further into the lore of The Rim and the pestilence itself, all while holding a mirror up to our society.

I loved Adelaide and the Stranger’s smooth strength and abilities to turn a problem into a solution with whatever weapon they happened to have on hand. Tesla’s one liners had me cackling throughout the book. Even side characters were created with care, whether they were good, bad, or already rotted through. I get real annoyed in books that claim the female characters are so strong and independent and then give them whiny attitudes and super human abilities. These ladies were certainly stronger than most, but were written with such care and vulnerabilities, I was really really hoping they would find their happy ending.

And if they do ever get The Rim settled, I would definitely book an Airbnb out there.

I received an advance reader ebook from the author and was thrilled to rejoin the surviving Revere women in their quest for home … and vengeance on their remaining enemies. While the story is often dark and bloody, it is infused with humor, love, and joy. A thrilling and satisfying conclusion.

Aunt Tess (The Widow), the new matriarch of the family, is ready to settle on a West Rim homestead and give up her life of crime, except for a little light robbery as a treat, once she settles one last score. Navy (Rook) is hard at work in her lab on a treatment for the pestilence still endemic on the West Rim. Adelaide (The Stranger) is investigating present and past mysteries while battling her own insatiable curiosity. Leagan (Raptor), possibly my favorite character, is her wisecracking, shin-kicking, sharpshooting self, bringing much of the comic relief while getting many moments to shine.

If you like dark gaslamp fantasy, weird Westerns, or stories of women actively claiming their due, I enthusiastically recommend this series.

A moment for the cover please. We of course don’t judge books by their cover but this one is stunning. We all know I love a strong female protagonist and wow this book has them in spades. Strong doesn’t even begin to cover it. Gritty. Determined. Ballsy. So well written. The detail in this story is amazing. It is descriptive and completely gripping. There is jeopardy and violence throughout and an epic way to wrap up a trilogy. Get yourself the whole set. You won’t regret it.

Solid read! The main character's journey is actually pretty engaging. The writing paints some vivid scenes. It hits you in the feels with its themes of abuse and trauma. Minor slow spots, but overall, definitely worth checking out if you're into dark fantasy. 👍

Danger, adventure, vengeance.. or was it justice?

This entire trilogy was so good! I thought it was excellent to be honest. I wish that one of the FMC’s would have had more of a happy ending but I guess in her own way, she did.
