When you discover the world you think you know is built on a lie, there's only one thing to do—uncover the truth.
The mission to free Seth Miles and Jake Carson from the power-hungry Gerans took an unexpected turn when the Fridan team captured an enemy VIP, and Horvan Kojik and his shifter and human comrades found themselves plunged into a world of secrets that upended everything they thought they knew about their own history.
Now they have a new mission, one that will take them into the enemy's stronghold, a place where many ancient secrets are kept, and the path they must follow is filled with betrayal, deception, and long-buried truths.
What binds them is loyalty, passion… and love, the strongest weapon they possess.
But will it be enough against the darkest of secrets?
K.C. Wells lives on an island off the south coast of the UK, surrounded by natural beauty. She writes about men who love men, and can’t even contemplate a life that doesn’t include writing. The rainbow rose tattoo on her back with the words 'Love is Love' and 'Love Wins' is her way of hoisting a flag. She plans to be writing about men in love - be it sweet and slow, hot or kinky - for a long while to come.

Reviewed for Love Bytes – 4.5 hearts A kidnapping takes Dellan and his group of elite shifters to England, where the head of the Geran atrocities rules over a dungeon filled with exceptional individuals whom he uses to control the shifter narrative. Storming the castle could reveal secrets that could ruin the world they know and alter the course of Geran and Fridan's relations. Mysteries, Menace & Mates is the fourth and, I believe (at least it read this way), last instalment of the Lions, Tigers, and Bears series. It is full of finding mates, story conclusions, triad partners (MMM and MMF), sex, and what happens next. Never fear, though, as it is left in a way that suggests spin-off tales could follow if the author chooses to do so. The tale is narrated in the third person from multiple perspectives, creating a fully immersive world experience. The worldbuilding has developed throughout the series, and this book resolves all the major loose ends. I’m not normally into multiple viewpoints, as I find them confusing, but I get why they were done here, and it works. The book has a substantial character base, and I still struggled to remember who was mated with whom. Nevertheless, the overarching tale was a pleasure to read. Every person has their quirks and individuality. For me, the standout character was Aric, the sassy kitty, and his love of food. Cast members are further developed within their triads. Amidst the action, levity, and serious conversations, the only extracurricular activity is sex. It serves as the answer to stress, comfort, the culmination of the narrative, and the go-to activity in persuasion. I love the inclusion of sex in a story, and given the threesomes, it was entertaining. However, there was so much sex that, while important to the individuals, it lost its effectiveness in the story. Towards the end, I found myself skimming through it, regarding it as ‘just another sex scene’ so that I could move on with the tale. There are very few scenes that don’t end up in intimate relations, or a page goes by without a dick being mooned over. Mysteries, Menace, and Mates is a masterfully written tale containing fun bits, a marathon of sexy bits, drama, loss, and something akin to the discovery of the plans for the Death Star. This book was provided free in exchange for a fair and honest review for Love Bytes.
What a fantastic ending to the series! The previous three books have all been working their way towards this final conclusion, with gruesome battles, lovers lost and found, huge missions to close down Geran camps and shifter breeding programmes and to finally find the truth and bring peace to the shifter world. Throughout the series series we've been taken on a roller coaster ride to find mates, rescue friends and family members and all with some twists and turns along the way.
In this last book the author finally brings everything together and we find out the secret and lies that the Gerans have been hiding and telling the world. We still follow many of our triads from across the series including one throuple that move to a country mansion in England, with each following on from where we left them in previous books. Now it's up to them, the Fridans, especially three of them, to convince and pass on the truth to the rest of the shifter world and perhaps the humans.
This series has been thoroughly engrossing, wonderfully written and entertaining from beginning to end and is well worth reading. It is quite long and it's essential to read the books in the order they were written. It would be wonderful to read them one after the other now the series is complete. Some of the scenes are quite graphic, so the series isn't for the faint hearted. Definitely a five star read.
You need to read the books in order, otherwise you have absolutely no idea what is going on, it's not only the overall story arch, it's also the couples' relationship which evolves and deepens.
The previous book ended with some cliffhanger about the history of the two shifter fractions and that not all is how it seems. This book picks up directly from here.
I love how all characters come together, how they embrace their individualities (I love Spy Kitty) and their vision to shape the future. We also see how the years in captivity and lies have left their marks and I griefed with Dellan and his loss and loved how Jake learnt to love again.
The story is kind of split in two, the final battle and discovery about reasons behind the betrayal and lies and the trigger of the events in the first book. Then you find the comfort, the dreams and hopes for the future despite mourning the losses. I love that the book is not showing that all is well and that there is still lots of issues to overcome.
As with book 3, this book does not focus on any one triad/throuple. While they do find proof of the Geran lies, they must now convince the world of the truth and many still disbelieve. Even more mates are found as well as some of the shifter kids produced from the breeding program.
This was a fabulous ending to the series!
***** POV… third person
Standalone or series… book 4 in series SHOULD be read in order
OH.... Wow..... Absolutely Brilliant ending to the Lions & Tigers & Bears series by K.C Wells was hooked from the start could not put it down love all of the couples relationships how they met their fated mates and even more turning up its simply amazing and the rescue mission to find Vic and the mystery of the archives finding proof of the Gerans lies can I say simply love spy kitty he's so adorable amazing series recommend so much.
Since the previous book ended on a major cliffhanger a was eagerly awaiting for this one. Fortunately it wasn't a long wait and as usual author didn't disappoint. Quite the opposite. She wrote a great conclusion to one of my favourite PNR series, although I wouldn't mind to read more, because every single character has grown on me. If you haven't started the series yet I highly recommend it. It's imaginative, original, with perfect balance between action, mystery, heat and humour.
I am enjoying this series and the continuing world building. It is full of great characters and lots of emotions but everything does not last forever and this book is a wonderful conclusion to the series. There are mates to be found and the truth to discover. I was pulled in right from the start and enjoyed my last adventure in this world. It was nice to see the updates on everyone as well, making it feel as though they have not only survived but flourished.
At first when I started this series I was confused & A little lost but after a bit I was enthralled with characters and the story in each book the characters are great I love them all but gotta love Brick Hashtag & Roadkill!!!! They are funny loveable & sarcastic all.wrapped in individual pieces!!! Thank you loved the series - Lori
Lions, Tigers &Bears has been such a fun series to read. I have enjoyed all the twists and turns the series have taken. I don't know if the series stops here but I would enjoy reading more.
I don’t know if the author plans to add more books to this series but I, for one, am content with where the story ended. All the characters we’ve known from the start got their triad, apart from Duke, who we never met 🧐
Mysteries & Menace & Mates by K.C. Wells is the last installment of the Lions & Tigers & Bears series. We are back to the adventures of mates finding each other in the midst of a manufactured war between the Geran and the Fridans that no one wants to be embroiled in. While freeing the Fridans they find the leader Theron has archives that could explain if the fight between the original brothers was real or fake and also to find Vic and Vlamer who were taken by Theron. This was a fantastic book that held me captivated from beginning to end. The updates on all the mates and the mystery of why the idea mates were lost to time was everything I didn’t know I needed. KC always delivers excellent stories to take you away from the chaos and just enjoy the love that flows through her stories.
