When Tilly’s mum goes out to work, Mrs Hardcastle from up the street pops in to look after her. There are two special things about Mrs Hardcastle. The first thing is that she’s always dropping off to sleep (she snores too, sometimes.) The second thing is that whenever she goes to sleep, something magic always seems to happen to Tilly Mint!Carnegie Medal winner Berlie Doherty’s enchanting Tilly Mint Tales are at last available in one complete collection with brand-new illustrations from Tony Ross.

This is definitely a feel good book which takes me back to when I was younger, just starting out getting into reading. There is a wee inscribing that I found in my copy of my name and the date 2013 which goes to show it’s been 8 years since I’ve last picked up this book.
It felt so good to read something lighthearted for a change, a nice feel good book, a book that continues to get me reading each day. I read this book after a massive reading slump and the adventures Tilly Mint goes on in her tales bring a smile to your face as you know the character is enjoying life around her, as she lives her life to the fullest.
