Chelsea never expected that she would have to move at nearly nine months pregnant. Then again, she never imagined she’d lose her daughter’s father while she was busy baking their baby, either. Heartbroken and distraught over being harassed by a disgruntled family member, she packs up and moves across Virginia with no assistance.
Arden, Lincoln, and Kase run the Blacksburg office of Shadow Security. Their instincts won’t allow them to ignore their heavily pregnant new neighbor. After all, protecting people is how they’ve made their living. Well, that and the off-the-books contracts no one will ever know about, but this mission calls for a different kind of finesse.
With her due date only weeks away and still reeling from the loss of her daughter’s father, will Chelsea be able to let her walls down long enough to let anyone in? Or will danger catch up before her neighbors can convince her they won’t let her down?
When She Needs Them Most is a complete standalone with no cliffhanger. Extra info can be found in the Author's Note.
• Omegaverse/AAAO • Bulldozing group of alphas • Light romantic stalking • Hilarious Banter • Sweet pregnant omega on the run • Jillian's incredible hurt/comfort • Neurodivergent rep • Unhinged, but loving acts of kindness • "I will burn the world down for you" • Neighbors to lovers
OH MY GOSH! I will always be praising Jillian West's omegaverse books. And every time I read one, I love her writing even more. She's also my favorite author when it comes to pregnancy and single parent books. She just nails that trope every time, and this one is such a great example of those tropes combined. SCORE. Right? YES. I flew through this book so fast, and it was such an easy and heartwarming read.
This book follows Chelsea, a pregnant omega who was abandoned by her alpha, then later finds out that he passed away (not really a spoiler) and is being tormented by his brother. So she decides she’s in need of a fresh start for her daughter and herself. She ends up neighbors with three super possessive and swoony alphas, who prove to her that she's not only wanted but her sweet baby is too.
These three alphas will swoon the pants right off of you. Jillian created such a perfect group of alphas for this headstrong but gentle omega. I just loved getting to see the four of them together and the balance that each of them brought to each other's lives. Whether it was asked for or just possessively shown, these three would have burned the world down for her. Everything we love in a group of alphas trying to gain an omega.
I also loved the unhinged banter between the three of them. It had me chuckling so much and only added to my love for them. Not to mention the moments of "light stalking romantic" from Kase's characters. Who was unapologetic about it! 🤣
You will absolutely fall in love with this pack, and if you don't in the first half of the book, you definitely will when you read about the ways these men care for her and their sweet daughter.
I can't wait for Briar, Easton, Keir, and Calder's book next.
🎧Audiobook Review🎧 Duet Narration Narrated by Jameson Adams and Brooke Daniels
These two brought this book to life perfectly. I absolutely loved hearing it performed in duet narration. Brooke had the perfect blend of warmth and strength in her voice that fit Chelsea so well. I loved the tender, vulnerable side of Chelsea that came out in Brooke's performance.
Jameson’s performance for each of these alphas was perfectly brought to life. From Kase’s unapologetically unhinged romantic stalking to Arden’s closed-off and protective alpha vibe, to the sweet way Lincoln navigates being in a relationship as a neurodivergent alpha, he nailed them all.
Getting to put voices to the characters I loved so much the first time I read it only made me love this book even more. Between Jillian's writing and their performances, this book deserves more than five stars.
Woo! This was a solid pick for my first book of 2025! I always forget how much I love Jillian West’s OV books until I start a new one. No joke, every single time I think to myself, “Oh, I always forget how cute these are.” In general, I’m not a huge fan of insta love and Jillian does such a good job of making it feel realistic and like way more time has passed than you think. The characters always develop strong relationships that don’t just feel surface level. This book made me both laugh and cry but was a lighthearted read in general. The heroes were great and just the perfect amount of crazy. Chelsea was strong but with a realistic amount of self consciousness considering her situation. The depictions of pregnancy were so spot on that there were multiple times where I was like, “Oh, yeah, I forgot that happens!!” Anyway, totally loved this one and am super excited for Easton’s book!
I did not expect the ending to be a sobbing mess but it did 🥲🥲🥲 This is unhingely romantic 🥲🥲 Psychoticly fluffy romance .. NEW GENRE ALERT!? That's just how i'll describe it 🤣🤣 Unhinged man doing unhinged things over love and devotion 😘🤌 A very cuddly sweet introduction for this new series
AND HEAR ME OUT .. KASE, EASTON, RANGER AND GRADY CROSSOVER? ... 🤣🤣🤣 UNHINGED 🤣🤣
ANYWAAY LOVE LOVE THIS ONE SOOO MUCH Jillian West just never sugar coats pregnancy and parenting and that's what i love most about this book!! ❤️❤️
Book Contains: - Death of a parent and partner (of paper) - Grieving - Pregnant Single mom - Omegaverse - Mercenary MMC - Why Choose - On Page Delivery
This book was fantastic. I laughed while reading this that at some point, my husband paused the show he was watching to ask me if I was good 😂.
The boys are 🤌🤌🤌. Kase and Arden were taking turns being my favorite. Kase has major golden retriever vibes with a healthy dose of romantic stalking and Arden exudes nothing but touch her and die. They are wonderfully unhinged.
Chelsea learning to let them love her was really nice. Every time she was worried about having to be a single mom soon I thought in my head oh no you won't be you just don't know it yet 😌.
And don't even get me started on the spice. It was DEF spicing. 👀👀👀
Only Jillian West can write about men drowning in red flags and make them sound all sweet and cute… Honestly, it’s impossible not to fall head over heels for these amazing men. And still, they fall first and they fall hard. Their courting might be a little unconventional, but somehow, it’s exactly what our fmc Chelsea needs.
I absolutely adore romance stories with characters getting a new chance at love. Add into the fact Chelsea is eight months pregnant when she meets her three second chances and it only becomes lovelier to watch her get her happily ever after. There are some similarities between this story and the other pregnant omegas this author has written about so far, but Kase is definitely a unique guy. Not sure if this world would survive too many of him anyway…
So yeah, I really enjoyed this standalone. I’m excited to see more of some of these side characters in the future.
"Would it be inappropriate to inform her she lives here now?" This is exactly the brand of unhinged instalove / obsession that I love from the OV but even more so from Jillian West.
This was a low stress read with some fairly emotional parts (obviously when dealing with grief of losing a partner). I definitely sobbed. But overall it was a pretty stress free and easy read with no super drawn out conflict, but just enough to keep things interesting!
As always, I loved each of the Alpha love interests. Especially how their stubbornness matched Chelsea's and how they worked so hard to gain her trust. Kase cracked me up with his obsession and his affection was so sweet. I loved each one though for the different ways they were there to support and love Chelsea and baby Luna. Chelsea's story really broke my heart and she deserved everything good that she got in the end.
I definitely recommend! If you're looking for something mostly light and fun with a side of tears, this is the one.
This is such a cute and sweet read. I’m a big fan of omegaverses as well as the pregnancy trope, so this was exactly what I was looking for. I loved all three guys right off the bat, but there was something so sweet and special about Kase so he came in as my favorite guy. When it comes to Jillian West I know I’m going to get a good story and this one was really good.
Chelsea is nearly nine months pregnant, alone, and moving. It's not a situation she ever expected to find herself in but her Alpha baby-daddy broke up with her and then died, leaving her alone. Then his brother started hounding her to give her what he believed she took from him. Scared, Chelsea feels no choice and moves across the state. She rents a house next door to Arden, Lincoln, and Kase. They run the local branch of Shadow Security, part security firm/part clean-up crew. Immediately the Alphas realize they are scent matches and want to claim the little Omega as their own. Possessive psychopaths, they do their best to not scare her off as they work their way into her life and heart.
The Queen of Omegaverse, Jillian West has delivered another terrific Omegaverse story. This is a fluffy, low-angst story despite the description with plenty of spoiling pampering. It's the perfect distraction for a cold, snowy afternoon. The FMC is likable, the men go from slightly unhinged to your socially awkward neighborhood psychopath. They are more humorous than frightening with their internal arguments for arson, murder, and mayhem, and I found them adorably deranged.
I like Jillian West's sweet omegaverse books - they're generally a good source of warm fuzzies, very low angst, and with Los Angeles in chaos this week, that's what I needed. These books are pure escapism.
The guys seem like they could be scary (not to her, but in their work) but we never see any of that on page - it's a sweet little brain-candy story.
Hands down one of my favorite reads in awhile. I really love the relaxed, normal conversational style of writing Jillian has. It really makes jumping into the book feel that much more realistic. The characters in this book are some of my favorites. Their personalities were chefs kiss. Kase and his internal struggles on trying to act calm and collected but wanting to whisk her away without caring how he’d do it, her house be damned! The pack itself really balanced themselves out. You have one alpha with psychotic tendencies, one alpha who’s obsessive, and another who’s analytical. Meanwhile our FMC is heavily pregnant and grieving. Plus I really loved every trope thrown into the book. And Jillian always ends the books how I wish all authors would. With more detail into the future. The only thing I wish was more thorough was her heat. Otherwise, I highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Do I ever plan on having children? No. Do I still absolutely eat up all Jillian West's pregnancy romances? Yes.
So much fluff with men who are quite unhinged and desperate for her. It was funny to see them trying to fight their instincts to just steal her away, but still learn everything about her and start reading baby books within 24 hours. What a vibe.
Another spectacular OV from the great Jillian West!! I loved Chelsea, her strength and determination was incredible. Arden, Kase, and Lincoln were perfect for her and accepted their roles in her life so naturally. I couldn’t put it down and I can’t wait for the next one!
Chelsea is a pregnant omega who leaves her home behind when the brother of her dead ex acts shady. Thinking he's after the money his brother left her she flees to provide safety for her unborn child. She moves next door to 3 Alphas who turn out to be exactly what she needs.
**** I read this author's books as palete cleansers, they're always low angst with some really cute moments. This one had all of that but one thing irritated me. This is an entirely ME issue however but I did not like the ex being mentioned so much. They were together for a short time, not in love and he broke up with her. Turns out he had a good reason but nevertheless it wasn't this great big emotional connection that she couldn't move pass. Again it's a ME thing but when my h has amazing mcs around, who've proven they're dedicated to her I don't want an ex mentioned. He was the baby's father but her naming her daughter Clark after him irritated me too 😂. Those are all ME issues however so I won't rate this book.
No cheating One of the mmcs was a virgin It'd been a while for the others h was pregnant for someone she'd been with for some months, he died
2.5 stars. I'm honestly so sad to give this rating. I think there are maybe 3 of this author's books that I haven't read yet, and I've never found a book of hers that I felt deserved less than 3 stars, and most have been 4 stars. I usually really love all of them. I hate for this to be the one that finally breaks that streak. I wanted to still give it 3 stars, but in going over my thoughts about the book, I just couldn't.
‼️Minor Spoilers‼️
There was nothing hugely wrong with this one, I was just so incredibly bored. Too much happens off page and is just told to us after the fact. The beginning set it all up really well with the things the FMC was going through, and with the completely unhinged neighbors she found herself living next to that turned out to be her fated mates...and then it was chapters and chapters of an uncomfortable and lonely pregnancy where everyone around her either takes advantage of her or doesn't have her best interests in mind except the MMCs.
- The movers who move her things take advantage of her situation but are dealt with off page.
- Everyone she loves has left the FMC in her life (by everyone she means two people), and she's sure to tell us over and over and to great extent how their untimely deaths have impacted her to the point of lowkey resenting them for dying on her.
- She's endlessly uncomfortable in her pregnancy, and it's never really solved or even addressed aside from maybe a foot rub here and there. (I usually love pregnancies in a romance, even theore gritty ones, but not this one for some reason.)
- Her new OB/GYN is just sort of thoughtless and indifferent towards her every time she sees her, including during the birth, and it's just also never addressed.
In between all of this is pages of her guys being absolutely unhinged in only the sweetest ways that they try not to let her see and her just accepting all of it when she does with minimal questions, even when she finds out they're contract killers. On top of this, they all just sort of fall into being bonded over the course of the book. Normally I love that shit but combined with the rest of the book, I was bored with it all.
The stuff with her late boyfriend's brother is also handled off page, so it was very anticlimactic by the time the book got around to remembering he existed.
There are other characters introduced that will be the MCs in the next book. I've read almost every book in this universe and can't for the life of me remember who those four are, which is sad, because I love how all of these books interconnect even though they're not all in the same series. That's on me though. I'll for sure be reading that book.
And side note: I'm a little sad that this one didn't have the MCs finding out what the lightning scent meant, since it's so special. From what I remember, in every other one of this author's books in this universe, the MCs found out what that scent meant. I wanted them to know here too.
With all of that said, the epilogue was really cute. I love, love, LOVE extended epilogues that give us glimpses years into the future. This one was adorable and funny and to be expected with who the MMCs are.
I also really enjoyed the attentive MMCs. They are typical Jillian West MMCs who are devoted, caring, and way OTT in the lengths they'll go to for those they love. They alone had me wanting to bump this rating up, but then I remembered how much of the story happened off the page, or had me so bored I had to take breaks from reading.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ “I was not creepy stalking,” I snap indignantly. “I was respectfully watching to make sure she’s okay.”
Jillian writes the best pregnant omega stories! In a world of so much negativity, her books are a breath of fresh air. I love the easy, no anxiety, no third-act breakup way Jillian gives us a HEA.
When She Needs Them Most was such an easy read. Yes, there were some harder moments - the FMC, Chelsea, is dealing with significant grief and guilt after finding out the father of her child died from an aneurysm. She doesn't feel like she is worthy of love, but Kase, Lincoln, and Arden make it their mission to give her and her baby ALL the love. They knew from the moment they saw her that she and Luna were theirs. Instant connection trumps DNA.
What's better than one alpha willing to go to any length to protect you? Three! I am obsessed with Kase. I think I ended up highlighting all of his lines and inner crazy thoughts. If I had to pick one in a MF coupling, he would be it for me. Seriously, a man who likes being the little spoon and breaks into your room for some cuddles just makes my heart flutter. I licked him; he's mine.
This isn't to discredit Lincoln and Arden's awesomeness. They are perfect in their own right. What instantly won me over was how they embraced the "ugly" parts of late pregnancy. They binged pregnancy books and podcasts to prepare for little Luna, buying out complete stores to ensure they had anything she might need.
When She Needs Them Most is a medium-burn and spicy MFMM why choose omegaverse romance. There are tons of omegaverse goodness - scenting, nesting, bonding, and knotting, with a bit of cockwarming. Yummy.
This is a complete standalone and perfect for readers who love easy reads.
4.4 stars. I really do love when at least Some of the main characters in the books I read have psychopathic tendencies. It’s just sooooo much more fun that way!😂 This was cute. I do think some areas could have been fleshed out some more to make it even better. But, overall, it was fun and really sweet. That ending line was fucking precious.
Finding out she is pregnant, Chelsea tries to reach her ex boyfriend only to find he has passed away. As if the guilt of their abrupt ending is not enough, his brother has been hounding her and it has left Chelsea to move across Virginia by herself. Nine months pregnant and alone, she is feeling lost what she doesn't plan on is her handsome neighbors taking an interest in her.
Kase, Arden and Lincoln are part of Shadow Security. Kase meets Chelsea first and he is fixated on the stunning Omega. He can't figure out how she could possibly be alone and she quickly catches the eye of Arden and Lincoln. Chelsea can't quite understand their interest in her considering she is ready to have a baby, but they are smitten none the less. As they delve into the threat with her ex's brother they delicately try to woo Chelsea wanting to ensure their feelings for her are unwavering. Could Chelsea have found her happily ever after?
This was fun. Kase was my favorite, he is a bit stalker, twisted and a bit over the top as he researches pregnancy, newborns, etc. At times it brought a huge smile to my face. Another wonderful read by this author.
3.12 Cute. Kason was obsessed from the beginning. He literally had thoughts of burning her house down just so she’d have to live with him. All three alphas were supportive of her pregnancy, and won her over with their charm. Short fluffy omega verse ☺️
I think these are my favorite psychopath /sociopath guys lol good lord they’re not right in the head but I absolutely love them. Poor Chelsea was going through so much when she meet the guys and they were exactly what she needed.
I think we can all agree by now that Jillian West has perfected the pregnant Omega troupe. If she keeps writing them, I will keep reading them.
This OV was all sweet alphas helping a grieving omega as she navigates her pregnancy. There were unhinged alphas, 🍆 warming, hurt and comfort, it checks all the boxes.
Just a warning though, this one does tug at your heart strings in a way that I did not see coming.
It was a pretty good fast, quick read. I'd rate it a 4 star. I just wish there had been a group scene in full detail. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an omegaverse read.
3.5 Stars Okay, did this have much plot? Not really, but I liked this book and the character's, I liked how she moved in next to them and they immediately started taking care of her, I liked the bond that all the boys had with each other and the bond she had with all of them individually and this was just a simple fun spicy palette cleanser read and I had a good time with everything

Some of my favorite quotes / moments
"I’m not proud of the fact I’ve spent the last several hours peeping out our kitchen window, like a total fucking creeper, but here we are."
"It’s not my fault that I was born with psychopathic traits. This is how the universe made me."
"It’s also not stalking if she knows I’m here, right? No, that’s just a little romantic observation. Totally different from creepy stalking."
"Both hands meet my hips, and he helps lift me until my feet hit the step bar. He moves a huge palm to cradle my head and guides me to take a seat."
Aww I feel really bad to have to rate this low because I freaking love Jillian Wests omegaverse but unfortunately for me this book was just insanely boring. It won’t stop me from continuing to read every single OV she’ll release but I just wasn’t a fan of this one and won’t reread it in the future.
Multi pov Omegaverse with no mm 1 omega 3 alphas Heavily pregnant omega- not from the H’s No owd/omd HEA Epilogues- a lot of them which I liked- 2 months later Another month later Another 4 months later 2 more years later- Luna becomes a big sis, they have a baby boy called Chauncey, like wtf is that name?! 15 years after that- they’re all still living HEA and it says they had twins Harper and Reagan 3 years after Chauncy. Poor Chauncy getting saddled with that name while his siblings have lovely names

Love love love this book!! I am a sucker for a pregnant single mom getting swooped up and spoiled trope, and with a reverse harem, it’s three times as good!
The alphas in this book are absolutely delightful and absolute psychopaths, especially Kase. Watching him try to figure out how to human while he’s falling in love is so much fun. Not too much happens action-wise in this book (there’s a seeming threat that turns out not to be a threat, womp womp), but the dynamic between the leads is fun enough that it still earns 5 stars in my book!
