*Edited to add* I finished the book and completed my review.
“How old are you?” “Je suis douze ans.”

I don't think I have it in me to pick this one again.
"Mon moitié! Mon moitié"

It has been over a week and I'm still chuckling whenever I think about Diot, Lenoir and Geneviève desperatly crying out her love for her brother in this approximate French Google translation the author deemed "okay" to illustrate the historic part of her romance, turning their tragic and horrific story into something RIDICULE.
“Arretez-vous.” Stop!” he commands.
“Sortez-vous.” Leave! “Maintenant.”Now!
“Pourquoi?” Why? I ask, tears beginning to stream down my face. What has happened? Where is mon moitié?

Pains me to say but, as interesting the author's approach of a fateful love may be, the amount of errors and bad French in the book pulled me out of the story.
If used to give the characters authenticity and anchor furthermore the story in France during tragic events like it's the case here, it's regrettable but it defeats the purpose entirely to have your characters speak like toddlers.
“Monsieur Winslow, comment-allez vous?” the elder man greeted.
“Ça va, merci. Et vous?”
“Trés bien, merci. Madamoiselle Claudine est en la caravane.” He pointed to a trailer on the right. Thanking him again, Jesse took off in the direction of Claudine’s trailer.

If you think it doesn't matter in the scheme of the whole story, good for you, I'm glad some of you could enjoy the book for what it is. If you don't have notions of French it shouldn't bother you the least.

As for me, I'm merely reviewing what I was given to review. The author built a supposedly epic love story with the notion that love trumps it all, even time and based her tale on tragic historical facts.
I'm really sorry to say that given the unrealistic start I've read, it failed to keep me interested and most definitely hindered my ability to care for these characters and to consider the story seriously.
“Je suis à Paris.” Her diction was perfect and authentic, no trace of a New Jersey accent in her now sweet, child-like voice.

Was it, really? Perfect and authentic?
How hard is it to find a couple proof readers for a few lines of French in a book? Pretty hard it seems judging by the translations in this book.
Better suggestion yet, authors : If you don't speak that language but can't be bothered to have it proof-checked, maybe you should refrain to use it altogether, especially if all it offers is disservice instead of that je-ne-sais-quoi you were looking for.

Very disappointing.
Bien à vous, une lectrice Française.

*Edited to add*
Curiosity got to me and I ended skimming over the rest of the story—yes, skimming, since very little was holding my interest at this stage— a couple days ago.
Verdict? I'm glad I was repelled by the bad translations early in the book.
Would I've enjoyed the book more without the French translation incident? I doubt it and honestly it's entirely possible it colored my judgment regarding the rest of the story.

My impression about what made me grab this book, the romance and the original idea that love trumps it all, remains the same. I really love the idea of the premise, alas the execution and character's development of our present time heroes left me unmoved.
The heroine, Kylie, sounded too juvenile for me to be able to connect with her. The hero was your typical bad boy rockstar... A jerk with everyone but Kylie. But a jerk nonetheless. At least in my eyes.

I was left unfazed by the romance and their supposedly "connection" and completely turned off by their attempt at phone sex. Which happens out of the blue, nor Kylie or Jesse have declared any intentions toward each other yet, they haven't even kissed, yet the hero asks her to send him a pic of her pussy because he misses her. REALLY?
“Okay spread your legs, and with your phone, take a picture of your pussy for me.”

Of course she agrees and readily sends her best shot :
“Okay here it comes. I hope it's photogenic. It would be really embarrassing to have non-photogenic pussy.”

It sounded so out of character for them, I'm all for attraction, love, lust, making you act out of your comfort zone, but it did read like a parody of phone sex.
“I'm really, really wet. Here, I'm going to put the phone DOWN THERE so you can hear it” She puts the phone between her legs for a few moments, knowing it would kill him.“Can you hear how wet I am?”

The hero ended streaming words after words for the sake of appearing naughty and in charge, all I could picture was a bad porn flick...
“Keep stroking your pussy. Oh God, I can't wait to be buried in you. I want to pull you down on my cock and you ride me. Ram you down onto me so that I'm deep inside you. It's going to be my pussy Kylie. And you're going to give me my pussy. Give me my pussy.”

Also I almost bailed again after the "photogenic pussy" line but this attempt at dirty talk just made me a quitter. Don't hold it against me!

Regarding the ending... I was expecting it, if you look at the story and keep in mind that those two lovers keep finding each other through time it makes sense that their story would repeat itself present time.
“Have I done something wrong, mon moitié?”

Okay, so I have very mixed emotions about this book. I absolutely love this author and everything she has written so my faith in her writing is right up there. I got completely drawn into this really uniquely crafted story and was emotionally invested in the characters. This is why I was completely blown away with the ending of this story.

For the first 98% of this book I would give it four stars but the last 2% 1 star. I know that not everything I read will pan out the way I want to be and not every story will have a happy ever after but I felt like I was led to believe the outcome and then it was snatched away from me. Cruelly snatched away, in fact it left me with a very bitter taste in my mouth and a feeling of what the actual fuck? I still cannot fathom why it ended this way ☹

More about the story now….. Kylie is a ex-pageant queen who now has a career as a plus model. In an effort to work out what personal issues have led her to where she is in her life now, she is working with a psychiatrist on some really interesting regressive therapy practices.

Jesse Winslow has hit rock bottom. He is a very well known rock star with the supermodel girlfriend but his addictions have taken control of his life and he needs to do something about it if he still wants to have a career doing what he loves. His first step is therapy.

Is a fate or a strange coincidence that both Kylie and Jesse are seeing the same psychiatrist, Claire Stoddart? Whatever the reason, the universe is at play with them all. Kylie and Jesse may have never met before but the regressive therapy sessions led by Claire suggest otherwise. The link between the stories and places these sessions take them point to Kylie and Jesse having known each other in another life.

I absolutely loved all the journey’s back in time to historical places and people, I love that Julie put so much attention to detail on these parts of this story.

Outside of therapy, Jesse and Kylie become friends who eventually fall in love. In fact this is the most real relationship that Jesse has ever experienced, just being sober adds an intensity he hasn’t experienced before but Kylie is just the woman he needs, she is perfect for him and together they are incredibly right for each other.

‘He was truly the missing piece to the completion of her soul.’

The third person influencing Kylie and Jesse’s relationship is the psychiatrist, Claire who is a bit of nut job. She is the only blight on what is a very happy relationship between Kylie and Jesse. However, I could never have guessed just how much her interference would change this entire story. As I said at the beginning, I was gutted with the ending of this story and I felt like Jesse and Kylie were short changed but there was a lot I loved so I am still left with very mixed emotions.

1 "I guess history repeats itself." Star. 😢

What can I say... I was completely vested in Kylie and Jessie. Completely in love with them and rooting hard. Then what does the author do... She completely ripped my heart out. Was there a point to this stoy? I guess so, but I don't like it. Not one bit. Had I known, I would have skipped this one.

Happy reading. 😞

Love on the Edge of Time is clearly Julie Richman's most ambitious work to date. She meticulously does her homework (as usual) and we are the beneficiaries of a love story that truly transcends time in the most spectacular of ways.

Kylie Martin is the feisty former beauty queen who is drawn almost immediately to the bad boy of rock n roll, one Jesse Winslow. Their 'accidental' first meeting becomes the catalyst to a burgeoning friendship borne out of the necessity to share their feelings after they've met with their mutual therapist, Dr. Stoddard. Neither planned on this new relationship and it was pure joy watching as they realize this could be so much more.

At the crux of this story are the incredible regressions that Dr. S performs on both Jesse and Kylie. They are taken back in time through a hypnosis of sorts and it is soon realized that perhaps their lives have intersected multiple times over the last few thousand years! Something neither is privy to, due to doctor/patient privilege. I was transfixed by this method of therapy and what comes out of these sessions had both my mind and heart rattled, right along with Kylie and Jesse. The author beautifully describes what they are going through, both past and present, and it's as if you are right there in the doctor's office, taking notes with Dr. S. Such a unique way to add incredible depth to this story, I craved more of these sessions with each new chapter.

As both Kylie and Jesse live out their present lives, they gain a strength from each other that they didn't have before. I loved that Kylie wanted to be her own woman, bucking the beauty queen stigma and working out to be healthy and happy. She didn't need to be a size 0 and Jesse loved every curve. I adored that about him. He accepts his girl just the way she is and Kylie in turn, loves the real Jesse, not the rock n roll persona the public sees. She gives him the drive to want to be better and wow...the lyrics written with Kylie as his muse is nothing short of amazing. I truly adored them both.

As the story unfolds, we are constantly reminded of the concept of fate. Were Kylie and Jesse destined to find each other? Was their journey already written? Or can they set their own course of chance? I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed finding out all the answers, even if some were harder to accept than others. Each character is expertly placed and there are plenty of twists and turns to keep this adventure captivating. In addition, there are scads of light-hearted moments with Kylie and her NJ atttitude at the forefront. She keeps everyone on their toes and I couldn't help but laugh out loud with them. She tells it like it is on more than once occasion and I was cheering her on every step of the way. There are also a few familiar secondary characters that were great to see again, along with some newer ones who add the right touch when needed. Being surrounded by the right people is something these two never take for granted.

This is not your usual kind of romance. It is one to be savored for its richness in detail and the ease of attraction between Kylie and Jesse. My goodness, they are so comfortable with each other right from the start and you can feel that relaxed state almost immediately. It sets the pace and helps when things don't always go according to plan.

Hold on tight. Love on the Edge of Time will leave you stunned. It is in a league of its own and has left me practically breathless.

5 solid stars!

I am reeling. I seriously am. I knew this was going to be a unique and complicated love story. But I had no idea though the places this book was going to take me.

In the present we meet Jesse Winslow, a rock star who has it all, but is throwing it away with substance abuse and lack of emotional relationships. He is charming, intriguing, handsome, but a tortured soul headed for self destruction. He has the illusion that he can keep things in control, but his life is spinning far out of it.

Kylie Martin is a former beauty queen turned plus-size model. She is snarky, fiery, smart, honest, but has some self esteem and food issues. She doesn't fit quite right into her world at this point.

Both are chasing their demons in regression therapy with psychiatrist, Claire Stoddard. She definitely has an interest in research and therapy, but also seems to have an unhealthy interest in Jesse as well.
So they are three people in the present, each of them broken in some way and chasing visions of distance pasts.

The connections, the feelings, the twists, the turns, and the tragedies. How do all the pieces fit? How do their past lives shape their present?

It is a convoluted story of missing halves, healing hearts, acceptance, and true connections. They both have self work to do. And as they become more vulnerable and open, strong feelings emerge. Is it destiny, fate, divine intervention? Can the mistakes of the pasts be rectified in the present? Can two lost souls find their happy ever after or are they destined to lose their chance again?

This book. Damn. It got to me. It really did. It started out a bit slow as there was a lot to establish. And then it just kind of sucked me in to all of the rich character portrayals, settings, and tragic situations. And I loved both Jesse and Kylie. They were both growing and finding ways to improve themselves and how to give love a chance. They seemed real, and their hearts and souls truly seemed joined. I was getting really tense the closer I got to the end, and I could not wait to find out where the story was going to end up.

This is a story of true love that knows no bounds and a connection that could not be broken. But it is not an easy, fluffy, or predictable story. This is different from anything this author has written, and it is definitely unique and has pieces of various genres, while not following traditional romance formulas. It smacks you in the face at times with things that hurt your heart. But at other times makes you smile and feel how meant to be they were. It is intriguing, funny, romantic, emotional, and heartbreaking. It is told in multiple points of view and flashbacks clearly marked that flow well and transport you to the situations. It takes you on several poignant journeys and makes you become invested in the characters. There are also some fun cameos that made me smile.

It has good messages about empowerment, self worth, sacrifice, and true love. It is a book that makes you ponder things once you are done. I am going to have to take a minute to recover from this. And I would love to see the author continue with stories in this vain that make you uncover hidden treasures, and think as well as feel.

I have held this review for a few days and I am still thinking about this book and having an emotional response to it.

I was gifted a copy by the author.

Truthfully, I don’t quite know quite how to write this review, only that I picked up this book because it felt as though there was an interesting and fairly unusual premise to it. Julie A. Richman’s writing reminded me of the early days delving into historical/paranormal romances with stories like Jude Deveraux’s Remembrance by Jude Deveraux coming to mind (damn, has it been that long?!) and the background definitely intrigued me.

The idea that 2 lives are entwined throughout history typically lends a sense of the inevitability of a star-crossed pairing of 2 people destined to find each other but always pulled apart for some reason. It’s a deeply romantic notion, heightened probably by bittersweet tragedy that comes each time the separation occurs, though objectively, you can probably extrapolate that the story happening in the present is simply a cog in the larger turning wheel of time, yet another version of the pairing at this point in time and bound to repeat some time in the future. The nebulous addition of a third person makes it less so, however.

What I hadn’t expected was a growing fascination with the idea of past lives emerging through a psychiatrist, who in part played a role in this growing love triangle, or that I couldn’t quite shake my dislike of or have any sympathy for the overindulged, narcissistically entitled and hypocritical rocker (who dared call out his girlfriend on cheating when he’d done it himself too many times) who did things without any thought about the consequences. I’m guessing that my inability to like the modern-day iterations of the protagonists—it was difficult to get past Jesse’s flakiness and Kylie’s unexpected vicious streak along—diminished the magnitude of the ‘fated-across-time’ romance along with the head-hopping that happened throughout, which got disorienting at times.

The historical parts however, kept me engrossed, so I do find myself torn between the loving the grand idea of having star-crossed lovers fated throughout (along with the strong message sent out about body image and identity) and not really liking the contemporary version of this pairing, along with the ’triangle’ and the other woman scenario. That alone, quite clearly places me in the minority here. If anything, ‘Love on the edge of time’ is an unconventional one and even if I’m on the fence about it, it’s not to say other wouldn’t (because they do, judging from the other glowing reviews) love this read.

This book was intriguing from page one and I couldn’t put it down. A beautifully written story which is a brilliant work of literature, with heart felt prose; that will have you enthralled from beginning to the very last sentence of its prose.

I loved the characters, well except those I didn’t, but I felt strongly for about them all; a true sign of a good story. Kylie Martin is a woman with weight issues, a former pageant queen, she is now having psychiatric help with her problems. I really liked Kylie; while she was in need of help, she was also a strong woman who wanted to get things right. Then there is Jesse, he really has problems to be solved; the bad boy rocker, with all the addictions, that go with the job. Jesse is wonderful, despite all his hang ups and I loved him, loved his kind heart and determination. After fate steps in, or is it destiny, and they meet, the two help each other in so many ways. Both are well written characters, who you will definitely feel for during this story.

This story has twists and turns you will not see coming, a gripping narrative like no other book I have read and emotion that will have you holding your breath. I do like Julie Richman’s stories, loved them all, but this one is far and above her best; she has surpassed herself with this wonderful tale of love, intrigue and jealousy.

Love on the Edge of Time was exceptional. A book unlike any other, it has completely blown me away. The concept was just mind boggling, I feel like I have actually read four stories interweaved in to one.

Bad boy rock star who has hit rock bottom and an ex Miss New Jersey who on paper are total opposites but my god, these two and their journey will hold a special place in my heart forever.

Julie has written something so special, I never knew where their journey was going to take me, but never at any point did I feel lost. I was always right there with them no matter where they were, who they were or when. Spectacular!!

I felt so many emotions throughout this book, I laughed, I sobbed, I smiled, I felt anger and hatred for things that cannot be changed. I was memorised beyond belief. It was like I was stocked still and I couldn't put this book down.

If I could give this book a millions stars I would.

I also need to mention the cover. It completely captures the book, it's perfect and stunning.

This is a must read and cannot be recommend enough.

I love stories where opposites attract. It's emotional, I'd say a 1 out of five boxes of tissues book alert. You'll at least get a lump in your throat.

4.5 Stars ~ Reviewed on behalf of KFF

I finished this book in the early hours of the morning and I don’t have enough words to describe how I felt. At one point did I feel like messaging the author, get down on my knees and beg her to “Please, please, please for the love of mercy, give Kylie and Jesse a break!”

This is probably one of the most difficult reviews I have to write only because there are not a lot of details I can share as I don’t want to give away any spoilers. This book is a standalone contemporary romance (with an unusual twist) about two people who both needed help and found each other. Written in alternating “past” and present scenarios Kylie is a former beauty queen who became a plus size princess and Jesse is a rock star on a downward slope to hell. They are both patients of Dr. Claire Stoddard, who plays a big part in their healing and is the catalyst to the couple’s future happiness. What I like about the author is that she also created Kylie as a strong, beautiful and independent woman who tackles weight issues that a lot of us can relate to. And Jesse, oh how I would love to have my own Jesse!

“I have let you into a place so deep, that it is dangerous. It is dangerous to feel what I feel. And I know that you know that. No one else is getting to that place besides you. And there’s only room for you as long as you choose to remain there.”

Serendipity, fate, destiny or whatever you call it Kylie and Jesse were always meant to be together. This book is not only about meeting your soulmate and finding “the one”. When you read their story, you not only get romance but also a feeling of empowerment. Jesse and Kylie’s story elicits a myriad of emotions: everlasting love, despair, heartbreak and hope. Will they finally get their happily ever after? I would have given the book five stars but there is one question which I think should have been addressed regarding Claire’s actions. Highly recommended but I would suggest a box of tissues by your side.

'But right now, all I’ve got are memories trapped in time
Of that moment when you were still mine
I’ll keep reaching and reaching and reaching
To grab hold of our love on the edge of time.'

Jesse Winslow, bad boy rocker, and Kylie Martin, former beauty queen, should never crossed paths except for a mistaken appointment time at their mutual therapist's office. Though their paths did cross, and they are drawn to one another, the thing keeping them apart may actually be their therapist herself, because she has committed a professional no-no and fallen for her client.

I loved the pull between these two quite opposite characters, and as they participate in regression therapy (individually) it becomes clear that these two have been looking for each other for centuries, if not millennia. They have a lot to learn from each other as well as their pasts, and I loved watching them make new discoveries and find new confidence at every turn.

It took me a little bit to get my feet under me with the premise of the book, but once I sorted things in my head and got on board with the regression therapy, I was hooked. I don’t think it was the idea of repeated histories so much as the regression therapy as a tool for unearthing memories that I struggled with, as it isn’t something I am very familiar with. But I also loved the idea of learning from past mistakes to be better in this life, and that theme definitely struck a chord in this book.

I loved the little glimpses of Schooner and Zac that show up through the proximity of L9 to the characters. Though that little Easter egg is there for fans of Julie’s previous books, this absolutely stands on it’s own with all new characters and faces to drive the story.

This was such a different book that I couldn’t help but love it! Love is such a timeless emotion that watching it through different time periods (and different forms of love) gave this whole story a unique feel. I love that the author didn’t just show romantic love, but really got down to the heart of love -- an all encompassing love that wasn’t always based on physical attraction or even sexual love at all.

Everyone has a mental list in their head of what they like or dislike in a book. Most of the time after reading a blurb I can tell whether I will like a book or not. Sometimes I’m disappointed, but usually I’m not. I also have a mental list of authors whom I know will never disappoint me. Julie A. Richman is one of those authors.

I’ve read every book that Julie has written and loved them all, but Love on the Edge of Time blew me away. Not only did it tick all the boxes for me, it ticked boxes I didn’t even have on my list. Now, where do I begin to explain how much I loved this book?

The characters were real people. Sure, one is a rock star, but Jesse is flawed. Kylie is an ex-beauty pageant winner, but she has problems. They lived in different worlds … or did they? How can two different people meet in New York? What are the odds in a city with more than 8 million people? Who is Claire?

Love on the Edge of Time takes the reader on a journey, a journey that transcends time and space. This book took me on a journey that not only touched my heart, it touched my soul. It wasn’t predictable, and I had quite a few “Aha!”moments as I began to connect the threads that Julie A. Richman had woven into this magical book. I didn’t want it to end, and when it did, I sat stunned. I was sad simply because the journey had finished.

I gave Love on the Edge of Time 5 stars, but I wanted to give it so much more.

So, I slept on it and I am still not sure what I want to say about this book.

It was so good, and it felt different than other books I have read, if that makes any sense.

Jesse and Kylie exist in a romance genre novel, so there are certain expectations of what will happen, and how it will happen, and how it will end. And, this book, well, it took those expectations and it shook them up a little.

Don't get me wrong, this is absolutely still a romance, and it is one that you will read and enjoy...but it feels different. In all romance, I think, there is a certain willing suspension of disbelief. It allows you to engage with the characters even if you don't 100% believe that the things happening would happen in real life. Because, romance is, well, romantic. And, the fights on the way to the grocery store about what you are going to have for dinner, well, that is reality but not romance.

In this book, you get some of the reality and some of the romance. As it is in the blurb, it is not a spoiler to say that you also get the romance through more than one lifetime, you see them in years past and in a bunch of other scenarios. This is, I think, one of the parts of the book that makes it feel so different.

The writing is strong and the characters are interesting. Is this a totally conventional romance? No, it isn't...but it works and I enjoyed it.

I recommend this title.

Julie, Julie, Julie. You never cease to amaze me with your story-telling abilities. And this book is just another example of your amazing mind and how you are so easily able to sweep readers off their feet and pull them into a story like no other.

I really have no idea how to start this review. Julie has truly outdone herself with this one. Can you two lives truly be destined to be together so much that their lives are entwined throughout history?? They are fated to find one another each time only to be separated for one reason or another?

And then when they have both hit rock bottom in their lives, one purposely sabotaging their life and the other just continues going on benders because it's what he does. But now they both want to get a hold of their lives and fix their problems. Is it fate that leads them to the psychiatrist? And when their sessions have them reliving historical moments, it's just crazy. That's all I can say.

How Julie intertwined both Kylie and Jesse's lives and then adding in Claire's influence on them, I am in awe of her writing talent. There are so many twists and turns in this book, that you find yourself not wanting to put this book down. Learning the answers to everything, while some we may not like as much as others, it was just captivating to watch everything come together.

Please know that going into this book, it is not your typical romance story. It was one that transcends times in so many ways, that if will leave your reflecting on things.

I Highly, HIGHLY recommend Love on the Edge of Time and wish I could give 6 Stars!!!

Love on the Edge of Time by the outstanding author Julie A. Richman is a full-length, standalone, romance novel.
Love on the Edge of Time is a book that stays with you. And you´ll need tissues, consider you warned.
This is Jesse and Kylie´s story. Jesse Winslow is a bad boy rock star and Kylie Martin is a former pageant queen. Both have issues and baggage and fight their demons.
They are patients of Dr. Claire Stoddard, a successful psychiatrist. And there they meet. Both have this crazy insta-chemistry. You can practically feel their emotions in the words.
Everything could be sunshine and roses, but no, now their story begins. Let me tell you, this book gutted me, I had more than one ugly cry, hence the tissues. This book was nothing like expected and everything I could have asked for at the same time.

Favorite Quote: " I will love you forever. I´ve already loved you for thousands of years. "

This story has it all—tension, angst, suspense and heartbreak. I've smiled, laughed, cried and was angry at some point. It is not often I feel so connected to the characters, but Julie A. Richman has accomplished just that.
I love the story, the writing and the words. I love the characters, I could feel their emotions in the words.
I Highly recommend Love on the Edge of Time and wish I could give more than 5 stars. Thank you so much, Julie Richman !!

This is the best book I've read in a long time. It's a contemporary romance with a historical twist, definitely not like any other book out there. It's equal parts romantic and steamy with real, flawed characters you can't help but love. The writing is seamless and smooth and you'll be drawn in and hooked from the beginning.

After reading this book I really felt like I had been on the long journey along with Kylie and Jesse, I don't usually enjoy stories with a historical story line however this book left me speechless and a little heartbroken. The Author has done an amazing job of transporting you to the past and back to the present making the story truly believable.

They say opposites attract and Kylie and Jesse were definitely that, although they have a lot more in common than they first thought. They have never met before their "accidental" meeting but why have they got this instant connection like they have known each other for years, its not long until they both start sharing their secrets that telling anyone else is not an option, they wouldn't understand and think they were mad. Is it coincidence that they met or  were their paths mapped out for them all along ? Can they change their future in time ?

The depths of this story is immense and difficult to put into words, My emotions were all over the place and the way the story comes together is pure genius and had me believing in something that  I have never really thought I would of before.

Get reading !!  You wont be disappointed.

Fate or Destiny.... you decide!

Let me start by saying, this book is unlike anything you will have read before. The romance revealed literally does span the expanse of time.

I am, weirdly, the type of person who rarely reads book blurb in detail. I pick out the odd words which capture my interest. For this book it was: bad boy rocker and former pageant queen and the whole opposites attract idea. Now, having finished the book, and re-read the blurb, properly, I can see that I clearly missed so much when preparing to start this story.

Having not read anything by the author before, I was delighted to have been accepted to receive an ARC of this book. Drawn initially by the book’s cover, and my pathetic attempt at reading the blurb, I couldn’t wait to dive in. Right from the very beginning, I knew this story was going to be something special. I was quickly drawn to the characters and the unusual way in which they met. Jesse Winslow has a cool, easy going, devilishly attractive personality and image and Kylie Martin is quirky, intriguing and mysterious. When the pair meets, little do they know that they unwittingly set about a chain reaction which will see them face pain, suffering, love, happiness and a whole host of other unforeseen emotions and situations, and this is not for the first time in their lives.

Attending the same psychiatrist, one for drug and drink related problems, Jesse, and the other for an eating disorder, Kylie, they both decide to go down the regression hypnotherapy route to see what, if anything, could be forgotten from their early lives which could be affecting who they are today. For some reason, their psychiatrist, Dr Claire Stoddard, takes them both, independently, down the past life regression road and soon, and totally unexpectedly, she reawakens long-lost life events for both Jesse and Kylie. I was initially fascinated by Kylie’s regression back to 18th century France and the pain and suffering she experienced there, but when Jesse travelled back to ancient Greece, I started to wonder just what I’d let myself in for with this story.

With more sessions comes more revelations for both Kylie and Jesse and whilst, to me, their past lives seemed to clash with my expectations for this story, again, having not read the blurb properly, I struggled to see where the author was taking their tale. Have no fear though, as the story progresses, all of the mystery is revealed, by the bucket load. From what initially started as a hesitant but sweet romance story, this book suddenly morphs into a spellbinding tale of long lost love.

Through the many regression episodes, you can see a pattern appearing which has affected Jessa and Kylie overtime and you can’t help but be fearful of their future. Their love is physically and emotionally on another plane, and you eventually realise just why this is. Their lives suddenly and unexpectedly become intertwined and with a third party ever present in their unusual love triangle, their future looks to be in as much jeopardy as their past. But can Jesse and Kylie find a way to stop history from repeating itself before it is too late?

Whilst having ups and downs reading this story, I did really enjoy it. I seemed to have question after question popping up in my mind throughout the book and these questions were all answered by the end of the story. I loved Jesse and Kylie and their breathtaking bond and even cried a tear or two for them. I would recommend anyone starting this story to read the blurb - yes, I’m hopeless, I know - and to read the story with an open mind and to accept that every page and every word is written for a reason. Embrace the story and the ending will be all the more rewarding.

Love on the Edge of Time by Julie Richman
4 stars!!!

“Was this possibly their karmic retribution, their day in the sun?”

Julie Richman delivers one unique story that will capture your heart implicitly. This was a trope I hadn’t read before and as the words unfolded my attention was captured from the very beginning. This was a book I went into totally blind, I didn’t even read the blurb and I am glad, because the unexpected was utterly breath taking. Julie Richman never fails to deliver exceptionally heart felt stories and Love on the Edge of Time was no different, the emotion and the character connection was all on point and it is these attributes that really suck you in, taking you along for one hell of a ride.

“Which part of the loss cut the deepest, was difficult to discern, but I had the distinct feeling that it was the death of a dream that would have the most lasting and devastating impact.”

Fate and destiny, something that we want to believe in and yet somehow you always remain a sceptic. But when the evidence is before you that it does exist, do you go with the flow or fight? This was an inspiring read and really leaves your brain running a mile a minute. I am being deliberately vague because I don’t want to give anything away, but this is definitely a book that you need to go into without any preconceived notions. Let the words transport you, envelope you, and take you on one emotional roller coaster.

“…Even if I didn’t know the truth about us, did you ever think I’d let you go?”

This is a longer book than most and while I appreciated everything I read I did feel the beginning was a little slow. However, once the essence of the book became clear I was all in and couldn’t put it down, so if you do pick this book up and struggle in the beginning, like I did, give it the benefit of the doubt. You won’t be disappointed.

With flashbacks to the past I was totally engrossed as Julie Richman showed her true talent. At times I did feel the flashbacks were a little too long and took me out of the present, but sometimes it was like reading a story within a story that brought a whole new dimension to this overall.

“You’re a gift, Kylie. Like an angel who came into my life. I’d be a fool not to see that. And I’m not sure I deserve you, but I’ll be damned if I let go.”

I really cannot say anymore without giving away this plot, so I am just going to say, this is no cookie cutter book, neither is this a typical Julie Richman read, however, it was stunning. Julie Richman’s trademark signature writing is prevalent throughout as she transports you into the lives her characters have led and will leave you gagging for more. The ending I never saw coming and I admire the author for delivering the story the characters demanded. Fantastic read.

Oh my heck!
Julie Richman has outdone herself. She put herself out there and wrote a story completely off the grid from conventional. And what she created was a beautiful and heartbreaking story of "love conquers all." The concept of this storyline spans many lifetimes. Each of these lifetimes more heartbreaking and more revealing than the one before. But in that heartbreak, Richman builds a love that knows no boundaries, that gets stronger each time and transcends time. A love that is eternal.
I absolutely loved how Richman tied in a couple of characters from her previous books without taking away from these new characters-- almost where you didn't realize it was known characters until a few pages later.
Julie Richman also has a way of making dirty sex so sensual and something beyond the physical and more about the emotional and cerebral connection between the two characters. Her characters always have an incredible chemistry that make the sex scenes a bonus rather than gratuitous filler.
Love on the Edge of Time is such a full story not unlike all of Richman's stories. From the very first page, the reader is swept away into the story. I didn't want to put it down. Both Kylie and Jesse's journeys took me in so many directions. It engulfed me without suffocating me. Love on the Edge of Time was passion, love, healing, strength, life, death, purpose. Love on the Edge of Time is nothing you've read before and everything you should read.
Well done Julie Richman and bravo for taking the risk on something different, on something that makes the reader reflect and think.

4.5 STARS

First off new author to me!!! Second so glad that she is....OUTSTANDING!!!

I can't begin to tell you the kind of emotional ride this book took me on. I had tears, I cried I sobbed. This one was a ride that basically transcended me to an alternate state of emotions.

Jess is the bad boy rocker and Kylie is the ex pageant girl. Their lives, their stories and their love is so intertwined together that it just takes your breath away!! I don't want to give spoilers away all I can suggest is to grab this book as soon as you can and dive in with lots and lots of tissues.

The story is phenomenal, the characters are strong well developed but most importantly this author's writing is on spot!!! Truly one of the best books and stories I have read.

I volunteered to review an Advance Reader Copy of this book for Rockstar Book Muse

The characters are so real and it was a rollercoaster of emotions. I am ready to read it again and savour each moment. It is obvious that the author puts a lot of work investigating facts and makes sure your emotions and mind are challenged. A must read!

Hold onto your hats, and your e-readers and paperback books, because just by opening this incredible book, LOVE ON THE EDGE OF TIME, you are going to be swept away on a romantic journey so epic, so grand, so descriptive that you will feel like you are right where Jesse and Kylie are...no matter when!

Jesse and Kylie both have busy lives, but also have demons to face. After meeting by chance, Jesse and Kylie begin to recognize that their connection to each other and their pasts just may put them on a similar path toward happiness, love and a hopeful, fulfilling life. Have their lives always been paralell?

I fell in love with these characters, the location backdrops, the history and even the sinister instigators in this story. It is evident as you fly through the pages, that Julie A. Richman poured her heart and soul into this story! The originality is poignant and LOVE ON THE EDGE OF TIME has become an all time favorite to me! Congratulations, Julie!
