Alexxxa is written by D. T. Dyllin and features a woman named Alexa James. As the name easily slides off the tongue, it is easy to believe that it is the name of a porn star.
Alexa James is a porn star that has been in the industry for many years and is taking a break as she is starting to feel burnt out from the one thing that she loves and feels most fulfilled by. Finishing her last shot before taking her vacation, she encounters David Jonez, a man who wants to follow her with his crew to do a documentary inside the Porn Industry.

While on vacation, Alexa finds herself questioning everything she knows about herself and her life as she contemplates her future. Alexa's character displays many stereotypical "porn star" attributes, in her self confidence and insecurity, yes she is so much more than that.

David has had a crush on Alexa since high school and has found the perfect opportunity to get close to her by using his film documentary. Half of him hopes to rid her from his system, and the other half still remains completely infatuated with her.

Dyllin did an amazing job portraying many different aspects of the porn industry with realism and by writing a romance novel that was not your average everyday read. Although this book is erotica with some hot and heavy moments, the story had true substance and was able to leave the cheesy porno music behind.

Alexxxa is written in such a way that you will find yourself rooting for and caring for Alexa as she is trying to do what makes her happy in life and learning how to be the best version of herself. There are many sensitive issues within this book, and Dyllin does a superb job of speaking up for the rights of women in the porn industry on multiple occasions.

I love the way that Alexxxa is written from the vastly different perspectives of Alexa and David as the story is told. It gives a wonderful representation of the entirety of what is going on from a wider angle. Dyllin's characters are easy to connect with and described in a way that you can see them come to life before your eyes.

Alexxxa receives a deserving 5/5 stars. It was a fun and entertaining read. It had its hot moments and also took a realistic approach to the feelings of love, even if some of it felt rushed. In a way, the rushing was fitting, given the character of Alexa, who approaches issues in an all-or-nothing fashion. The book left me with one major question regarding Alexa's ex, but otherwise, I felt that it had a suitable closure. This book is great for anyone into romance, feminism, erotica, fiction, women empowerment, porn, etc. If you are shy about adult themes or porn, don't let it shy you away from a story worth the read; that is just one piece of the puzzle.

Alexa James is a top-rated porn star working for Sinfully Yours Films. David Jonez is a filmmaker doing a documentary on the porn business and he wants Alexa to be his star. Since she is taking a two-week vacation back in her home town of Pittsburgh David and his crew follow her. Instead of the fun and relaxing visit home she had planned she finds her whole world turned upside down as she evaluates whether she can have love and a relationship after being a porn star, while a demon from her past tries to control her as he once did. Surviving so far has been easy, but this time she needs to reach out and grab the happiness within her reach. If only she’s brave enough.

Society never really delves beyond the shallow façade of pornography. Who are the people providing the masses with porn, what kinds of lives do they live and can a person who has sex for a living find love? In this look behind the red door, the reader is shown a woman who loves sex, but hasn’t formed any meaningful relationships, and a geeky guy who crushed on her in high school who falls in love with her despite her occupation. Alexa’s crisis of self is a bit choppy, but heartfelt. The insta-love appears a bit rushed and the Devlin situation seems manufactured for dramatic effect, but on the whole this is a wonderful journey as Alexa comes to terms with who she really is and the importance of compromise in any relationship.

Once again Dyllin delivers with a book that grabs your attention and refuses to let you up for air. Once I started reading this I couldn't stay away from it, I read this in just a few short hours.

Alexa has a great mix of sexual confidence and personal insecurity that makes her immediately likeable. And David is everything a girl could want without going all macho bullshit on her all the time, but he is capable of stepping up and being that guy when he needs to be or when she needs him to be. Much sexier in my opinion.

And the chemistry between them is off the page.

When you are a porn star, have a great body, love having sex and your face is known by most men you wouldn't expect one of them saying no. That's what Alexa has to face when she meets David. Suddenly she wants more than sex and love seems an option.

Alexa is a likeable character despite her profession. She is an interesting woman with some strong thoughts and opinions about life. David seems to be a centered man who is drawn to Alexa and what lies beneath. When they get together there is a lot of tension and sparkles. However, as you can imagine things get better once they give in to their desire.

The story has a few interesting twists and there is a bit of action and drama. The secondary characters have small parts in the story but some of their actions change the course of it.

The writing is really good, as usual with Dara's books. The temperature rises in all the right places and the scenes will not disappoint you.

There was only one thing I didn't like and it's how often she tries to justify her choice of career. She states that she simply likes sex but in the story we found what looks like psychological explanations on how she always looks for love and acceptance from men and people in general, so sex and exhibitionism are the way she finds them. Don't get me wrong I like when the character’s personality has some sort of fundament but she sounds like a cliché. “A parentless girl and a screwed up childhood ends up being a porn star”... I would have expected something different.

In general, I liked the story and couldn’t put it down. I read it in only 2 days because somehow the writing catches you and you need to know what comes next. Another good story by the lovely D.T. Dyllin.
