We are bound by the gods…but they didn’t warn me about her. I know three important facts—
1. My mates will do anything to keep me alive and happy.
2. I’ll do the same for them.
3. She has a connection to my mates, and my Nexus wants her dead.
Normal. I’ve never been normal for a single day of my life, but now I have to pretend to be so I can stay at the academy and train to be a ranger. Even if it costs never seeing Onyx.
The academy is locked down for six months, and I’m not allowed to leave. No one is.
Then she turned up. Georgina, the mystery woman who was locked up by the Vian and somehow escaped. Sweet Georgina, who has a strange connection to my rejected mates, and everyone loves…except me.
My Nexus hates her and every day I’m worried I’m one slip away from becoming the monster everyone fears by killing Georgina.
I’m not normal…but neither are my mates. The more I learn about them, the more I realise I wasn’t the only one born different.
We are connected by the gods, by the very stars in the night sky, and nothing can come between us.
Not even a Vian prince who warns me this world is about to end if I don’t leave Starlight City before it’s too late.
Ethereal Shifters is a dark romantasy with men who growl more than speak. You can expect tropes like— Who did this to you?, touch her and die, rejected mates, forced proximity and whychoose?
G. Bailey is a USA Today bestselling author of books that are filled with everything from dragons to pirates. Plus, fantasy worlds and breath-taking adventures. Oh, and some swoon-worthy men that no girl could forget. G. Bailey is from the very rainy U.K. where she lives with her husband, two children and three cheeky dogs.
the ending!!! I didn't see any of it coming 😭 whyyyyyyy 💔
I enjoyed this more than the second book! there was more action and progress. especially with the relationships! I let out a biggg sigh of relief when I found out the guys were still as dedicated as ever to gwen - though I think a little more jealousy/angst here and there would add a little something.
alekkkkk!!! I loved loved loved that little moment of vulnerability he shared with gwen!!! and hollis, omg that one scene was everything I'd hoped for. but it seems like it's always one step forward and two steps back with this guy 💔
I'm excited to see how everything will play out, it's getting even messier idek what direction this is all going to take, that twist at the end just fucked everything I thought I knew lol 😭
the pacing still felt too fast for me though, felt like some scenes were on 3 times speed still but it was still an improvement from the last. the books in this series are pretty short so we don't get that much details.
can't wait for the next book though!!! SERVERIIIIIIIII I knew you were hot <3

WHAT! I was not expecting that ending. I've been duped!
I enjoyed this book, but I felt like it was lacking compared to the previous ones in the series. With that said, I'm still looking forward to the next one.
I'm interested in seeing how certain characters and relationships develop in the continuation of the series. I want Gwen to fully accept how badass she really is.
I have no words. I enjoyed the first two (They were almost so bad that they were good). However, this was just plain bad. I was confused the whole way through - there was so much additional information shoved throughout to thicken up the book that was just not needed whatsoever. I’m aware this series is a blatant rip off of the Bonds That Tie series but I was able to get past that in the first two books. The part that sent me over the edge was when one of the new characters was called Feyre. I know authors are allowed to use the same names for their characters as others popular series, but when your books are already a rip off of another’s authors work, don’t then rip off another author…
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This book felt very disjointed and often didn’t make a lot of sense. There were way too many plots going on at once and NONE of them were properly fleshed out. It felt like the author tried to smash three separate books together and left out half the chapters of each in the process.
I hated how Gwen suddenly has an out of the blue “revelation” that she actually likes who she is and then almost immediately calls herself a monster again. What was the point?
And how does she not connect the girl who looks like her and her mother to the vision of her parents giving up one of two babies? It was basically spelled out for her. I hate to say it but she and her mates are idiots if they can’t figure that one out.
First of all, I don’t like to be fucked with. And I don’t like to be swindled. And that is what this author is doing by selling us short ass Novelas, pretending that they are actual books and making us pay the price for an actual book. All the while, stretching everything out and milking it to the max so that she can make an extra long series and make a lot more money when in actuality this whole series could’ve probably be fit into two books of a normal length. This fucking Novella was only 199 pages I think. And that is on my Kindle app on my iPhone. Nothing pisses me off more than authors, trying to swindle us out of more money by stretching out a series with tiny ass Novelas, trying to pass them off as full books.
That being said the story was OK again way too short. Not a whole lot going on throughout the book. And it was choppy and distorted and like all over the place with so many holes and grammar issues and just way too much going on. It was confusing beyond words and nothing really made sense and she just kept changing things. New characters were introduced new micro plots Even though other stuff was not explained. It was just very disjointed and confusing. She did one trial that was over literally within one second and made not much sense. This chick has five fated mates and she’s only hooked up with one and kissed one other. That’s another thing. I hate that currently RH authors are doing, they’ll start a series with a female main character and give her a ton of mates. And then they’ll just stretch everything fucking out and not let them hook up until like book 5,6,7. It’s absolute bullshit. I actually feel like the relationships went backwards instead of forwards. And without giving away any spoilers, I feel like a lot of shit happened, especially towards the end that was just so out of character from what the author wrote in previous books for those certain characters that it just made no sense whatsoever and confuse me as a reader, even more than I already was
And then, of course, because she’s knows she’s fucking us over with her tiny little books. She pulls the next Trump card that these weak ass authors are doing, she gives us in the last two chapters an insane and I mean insane cliffhanger that is just outrageous. Like absolutely fucking crazy. And that’s how she tries to hook you to read the next novella that you pay too much money for and that is probably gonna disappoint us only then to have to read the next book. that’s how they swindle us. The author Katie May does the same shit. And I’m not falling for it anymore. I will not pay for any more of her Novella’s.
The sheer amount of grammatical errors is staggering. Tremendous overuse of commas, the majority of which are should not even be used or are used incorrectly. Extra words in sentences that do not belong and make no sense.
The storyline? Ugh. I mean more betrayal by more mates. That does not line up at all with the previous books or their characters.
The dialogue is choppy and just weird. The scenes jump quickly leaving so much out. All of the missing details are why it is so short. Given the outcome of the storyline and all the issues, being so short is the best thing about it. Everything about this is rushed after the first few chapters. Assuming she was trying to meet her release date which lead to a very poor execution.
Why would she not share what she learned about the fake connection and the ability of her twin? That was quite an important piece of info.
She’s not very bright so I suppose it isn’t very shocking. Do not understand the need to make MFCs clueless and lacking intelligence. It’s frustrating as all get out.
Too bad. Book one was pretty good. Went drastically downhill from there.
2,5-3⭐️ World and characters: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Story development and pace:⭐️⭐️ I loved the first book in this saga, very good first book and lays the groundwork very well. But the second and the third have disappointed me a little, nothing happens, and the story moves forward according to the convenience of the plot but with little logic behind it Regarding the relationships, I had a lot of potencial but at the end of the 3rd book the relationship has advanced with only one of MMC, the rest? They are still at the level of the first book, with some insta love because now she loves the MMC but there is no plot behind to support it, a little pum I love you. The plot twist at the end surprised me ? Yes, I didn't expect it, and cool but it seems to me a bit deux ex machina more than a plot twist, in this book there are clues that indicate that ending? But in the other two there are no clues at all. I hope there will be more than 4 books, because I see a bit rushed to solve all the plot and all the relationships in one book.
My heart just shattered. That ending I didn’t see coming at all. This book definitely gave me all the feels. I thought Gwen has been through a lot but I was so wrong. This book had it all, love, lies and betrayal. I was crushed for Gwen and now I’m dying to know what will happen next. Definitely a series you want to read.
I loved the first two but this one was disjointed with too many plot lines left hanging and unfinished. When they were revealed, they didn’t have room to breathe. By book three I would have loved to see Gwen grow into a fierce lead character, but alas….
Well, this was a disappointment. Story didn't really go anywhere, just let out a whole bunch of loose strings that weren't addressed and finished with a twist that makes no sense.
4.5⭐️ ▪️Paranormal romance ▪️Reverse Harem ▪️Shifters with powers ▪️Evil twin ️Academy setting/ war college
Book 3 was just as good as the others. We get some more world building and great plot in Ethereal Shifters. This one is a lot more action packed and of course ends on a great cliff hanger.
Can't wait to continue on with this series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have really enjoyed this series so far. Everytime I think I know what's going on, there's another twist and turn, another truth bomb that leaves you reeling and shocked and then as you want to know more, we now wait for the next book!
I would have loved to have seen more of certain events, to see how the Gods will react to not fulfilling the agreement...
Meh, very quick, a lot happened, but nothing really felt completed. This felt like a filler book, the others were too long and so this one was created for the bits that were important but not important enough to go in the longer books.
2.5 ⭐️ because I really wanted this book to be great but it just wasn’t. I felt like the story line was so forced and half the microtropes didn’t even make sense. The last chapter was the best but I almost didn’t get there.
This series just gets better and better, I'm just gutted each book is so damn short because I just want more more more. I was reluctant to read this with the whole Georgina thing but thank God none of Gwen's mates fell for the "bond" with her!! This was so action packed and filled with so much angst as well as romance, but what the actual fuck was that ending?!?!?! I did NOT see that twist coming AT ALL!!! I am shooketh!! And it is not easy to shock me in a book!!!
Well that was a disappointing sequel. Absolutely went bonkers and over the top dramatic to the point of lunacy. Don’t get me wrong - I love a good plot twist, cliffhanger, reveal etc but come onnnnn every moment is a new thing and it’s just too much
The Nexus series is one of those series that I count down the days until I get my hands on the next book, so you can imagine my excitement for Ethereal Shifters. It was glorious! The story just keeps getting better.
Gwen is still my girl. I just want her to love herself as much as I love her. She's been through a lot, and I'm glad Annie has her back. I love how Gem presents their friendship; it has elevated from a friendship to a sisterhood, and Gwen could use more ride-or-die in her. A few of her guys are like that, but of course, Gem loves to torture me. There was some angst, especially with the sudden appearance of an interloper. Surprisingly, it's Sergei who won my heart in this. He started to change my mind in the previous book, but this book solidified it.
The plot blew my freaking mind. Seeing the war from the Vian's perspective was certainly eye-opening. I knew something hinky was up with the Nexus history, but I couldn't figure out what, and it was driving me crazy. I still don't truly know what to believe. Then there was that ending... multiple plot twists. One after another, so shocking, I think I stopped breathing. Like, WTF?!?!
Ethereal Shifters was amazeballs, but Gem broke me with that ending. I don't know what to do now. I'm praying to Gem that the next book comes sooner rather than later; my poor heart needs to be fixed.
This series without a doubt is one of my new favorite series. The world building is thought out and easy to follow. These characters are all so complex as is the story altogether and just when you think you know what’s going to happen or who you can trust, you’re made to think again. It’s rare that I’m blindsided by a character’s betrayal or a plot twist, but what goes down at the end of this book nearly had me falling out of bed in shock. I have no idea how I’ll cope until the next book comes out in the Fall, but I am ready to make this series my entire personality until then. I’ll be working my way through G. Bailey’s entire backlist for the foreseeable future and counting down the days until book 4 is released.
⭐️: ♾️/5 🌶️: 1.5/5
🩶 why choose 🩶 dark romantasy 🩶 rejected mates 🩶 forced proximity 🩶 who did this to you? 🩶 touch her and die 🩶 slow burn 🩶 possessive MMCs and FMC
There is not much to say about this book without giving too much away. It had the same vibe and complicated characters as the first three books in The Nexus Series. The plot has gone deeper than I expected, with twists that make it better than I thought it would go. I loved seeing the buildup in the relationship aspect even though it’s not resolved yet. I wish it was so much longer because it’s so hard to be patient until the next book comes out. 5 out of 5 stars.
Ugh I’m so frustrated! I LOVE the characters and the story….but the telling of the story is light, largely just glossing over everything giving you the basics and leaving the reader to fill in anything else. It lacks the depth that brings you deeply into the story which leaves me sad as a reader because there’s so many places I want to be drawn in deeper and be part of the story but I’m not so I have to make it up in my head. This series has such potential and is good for a light, quick read but it’s going to leave you a bit empty if you like to be engrossed in your books. I don’t understand why writers, especially ones with a great story and characters and are good writers for what they do write, don’t take the time to really develop the story and take you deep. It’s such a shame. With a bit more care and effort this could have been a 5 star series for me.
OMG! I am loving this series! It’s a gripping and exciting read that is so full of twists and turns and surprises that it has you spinning just trying to keep up. There’s so much going on and the characters development blends in well, there’s action, there’s danger and there’s betrayal and an ending that has you gasping and absolutely ready for the next book!
I didn’t see that plot twists at all and now I’m scared… like are we going to have a happy ending with all Gwen’s mates or no cause how do the two of the mates come back from this. I’m liking Severi so hope nothing bad happens to him and like what is going on with Oynx?????? Can’t wait for the next one!
Not sure I’ve ever complained of a book being too fast paced? But it felt like this plot was on x2 speed. There was a whole lot happening but nothing being fleshed out, I felt like we were jumping from one crazy event to the next.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book, and wow—this series continues to deliver! It was easily in my top 3 reads of 2024, and this latest installment did not disappoint.
I absolutely love this series—the MFC is incredible, and every MMC brings something unique to the story (even if those shocking twists at the end left me reeling!). If you haven’t picked this up yet, you’re seriously missing out.
Highly recommend to anyone who loves a gripping, emotional, and twist-filled read! 🔥📖✨
For the third out of four books in a series it was very short and the plot was all over the place and too much, felt disconnected and too many plot twists being thrown around —would be fine if they had more room to expand. It’s hard to root for any of the relationships because of the plot twists and lack of relationship building, just sudden jumps to I love yous. FMC could also grow a bit and do less wallowing in self hatred.
