As a fan of reading military thrillers, I felt that this book was too close to reality.
Kupwara Codes by Maj Manik. M. Jolly is set in Kashmir where ISI is set to destabilize India through ideological war. The story follows two Gorkha regiment officers: Lt. Deepak Lathwal and Maj. Danny Deka was tasked with deciphering cryptic codes from an elusive "Codeman" to prevent a devastating terror attack.
From the beginning, the book keeps you engaged with all the counter-terrorism operations, military strategy, and intelligence. As the author is a veteran, his experience in counterterrorist operations in Kashmir adds authenticity to the narrative. The writing is descriptive and engaging, and it feels too close to reality, with not only war sequences but also strategies. Apart from this, the book contains valuable leadership lessons, that can be applied to life outside of military situations.

The story revolves around a despicable mission targeting India and the journey of two protagonists, Deepak and Danny (from the 4th Gorkha Rifles), highlighting their bond and camaraderie.
