the subtle, allusive work Crasnaru published during that period, with a selection of the out-spoken, subversive poems she hid in her cellar until the revolution of Christmas 1989.

The poems in the book seem to be well constructed, but most poems only stand out in the end/ last paragraph(s). The writing at the beginning and the middle is just a bit too timid, too simple.

There is however, a rather pleasing variety of subjects, such as; descriptive scenery, love, as well as the author explores society/politic based topics.

All in all it wasn’t a bad book. Some poems truly stood out, but others really did not. That’s why I’m giving this small collection of poems 3/5 stars.

My god... these poems are very simple, yet you can feel her suffering seep through the page. What an amazing poet.
