Can she balance surviving Callan on one hand and falling for Jaden on the other, or will her dangerous coping mechanisms destroy the fragile web of lies she's built to protect everyone who loves her?
Naima's character development throughout this book after everything she experienced is such a captivating read. It was so beautifully written and will leave you feeling so unbelievably raw.
This book will have you SCREAMING at the 3 main characters through the whole damn time. I love the growth Naima did by the end that woman deserves the entire universe. Hiro and Hakim are absolute KINGS I adore those two with my entire being🥹 this had me feeling ALL the feels the entire way through from being seething to giggling to sobbing, I cannot wait for book 2. You follow Naima through her journey of escaping an abusive relationship, it shows you the struggles and effects on your mental health that being in a situation like this can do. This is the perfect way to highlight awareness of the subject🩶
Wow what a book. Trapped has a lot of triggers. Definitely watch out for them. I loved this book. Could not put it down. Domestic violence, mental health concerns, eating disorders are some of the focus in this book. The author did really well with portraying it all. Could not put it down. I just need book 2 asap. I’m going through withdrawal after reading Trapped. Absolutely loved it!!!
This was really hard, but really good in so many ways. Maybe my rating will change depending on the second book but there were things that happened at the end that ruined the MMC for me.

This depth gives the book a special intensity, making it a valuable literary work.
Another highlight of the book is the smut scenes, which Stevens crafts with remarkable artistry. They are not only erotic but also artfully described, drawing the reader in completely. You find yourself grinning and kicking your feet as you eagerly devour the pages. These scenes are a testament to the fact that erotica and literary quality can indeed go hand in hand.

Wow, wow, WOW. I absolutely loved this book. As someone who has been through her own traumas and having briefly spoken with the author as well it really amazes me how people can go through things and come out the other side stronger. This story is complex and beautifully written. This book had me feeling all of the emotions, in The best way possible. And this is such an amazing way to bring awareness to such topics. Things I feel that aren’t spoken enough about. I can’t say enough good things about this. If you want an emotional and raw read. This is the one. And I absolutely cannot wait for the second book. I have to say this author is going to be an auto-buy author for me in the future. 💜 This book exceeded my expectations by MILES. I knew it would be good. But not this good. I absolutely lovvvvvved it.
I did receive this as an ARC but the review is all my own.
Gonna be perfectly blunt. This was a rough read. Like really rough, but it was so freaking powerful. This author did a masterful job of putting me in her heroine’s shoes, and I felt all the emotions with her. Fear, anger, anxiety, hatred, elation and finally relief and freedom.
As refreshing as Nai and Jade’s love affair was from all the heaviness going on, their relationship was like the eye in a hurricane. There was a beautiful calm when they were together, but it was just a lull for the violent windstorm that was sure to follow. In the end, the love story I was most invested in was Naima falling in love with HERSELF.
This was a hard book to get through, not just due to the content but because it was so expertly written that the emotions were magnified. This ain’t no beach reach for sure. It’s unlikely that I will ever go back and reread parts of this book because some of it was just too freaking painful. (I also needed to see Callen suffer the nine circles of Hell, but that is a different rant.) But while I might not go back and reread parts of this book (maybe I’ll revisit the sweet parts with Nai and Jade with some distance), I won’t ever forget this experience.
I’m invested in Naima’s journey now, and I want to see where the next chapter takes her.
Being a survivor of coercive behaviour and violence this book really hit home, it’s not for the faint of heart, it follows Naima who is being controlled by Callen he gets violent with her and sometimes takes it further, she is friends with his brother Jaden where she forms a relationship with him where she was in love with him but only to find it started out as payback for Callen sleeping with Jadens girlfriend, I broke down a few times through this book and I hope there is a book 2 with a happy ending for Naima and Jaden this book was well written the author being a survivor
I feel so baddd for only now reading this arc :( And I feel bad that this was not for me :( I don't think this author is for me 😭😭
I dnf at 12% I don't remember the trigger warnings but I don't think I would sign for the arc if I knew this had "domestic violence" in present time (I know is not the mmc, that may be way I sign, but is was in the present time not like a memory/past) I couldn't read past chapter 7. And I don't like how the author writes her fmc's, they are just not for me personally :(
i’m gonna be honest… this book hit me hard. every abusive word, scenario, and the end result spoke to me. i’ve been through these events, and i felt so validated that someone could hear my inner most thoughts.
i will say, until the end, i was disappointed in how i thought it would end, but then the twist and i just felt relief.
thank you. for being a voice to those of us who can barely speak about it.

The cover is absolutely stunning, Mariah L. Stevens is extremely talented when it comes to her artwork. Trapped tugs at the heartstrings and has all the feels, but even though it was such a good book, it was also heartbreaking to read, and it makes you appreciate the relationships that you have and to not take them for granted.
This book was a great read. It was both frustrating and hope inspiring! I had to read it in sections because it was a bit emotionally overwhelming for me at times. However I very highly recommend it. Mariah is such an engaging author and this book delivers!
This was so well written and pulled you into the story right away! You deeply feel for her through her struggles with an abusive boyfriend and eating disorders. Five stars and highly recommended.
Warning: Intense and graphic content. Spoilers ahead.
I was engrossed in this book from beginning to end. Some of the scenes are very intense and stressful. It gave a deeper insight to topics not commonly written about in fiction. The abuse isn’t romanticized or sexualized. Naima stays for her safety rather than her being in love. You can feel her raw emotions and pained expressions. This the book is extremely well written. I was on the edge of my seat and enjoyed it immensely. If you want a change of pace and you’re fine with the trigger warnings definitely consider reading Trapped.
