Audrey Rush is one of my favorite horror authors (as well as in dark romance). I immediately grabbed the arc of this book from booksirens. As usual the story was horrifying and disgusting but very readable and I had to read more from it. The way she is able to make me feel so uncomfortable but at the same time wanting to continue the book and give it 5 stars. I do not know for sure how to describe the plot without spoiling it and I hope an blurb will be added soon. But badicly we are following a few men in a company that creates "pure dolls". Each part following one of them before changing to the next. Equally as disturbing and sick. Great horror book but kow I need to read something sweeter and non horror.

"But curiosity is a violent animal. It burrows inside of me, digging its claws into my spine until I can’t take it anymore. I have to know. I have to see them."

⚠️ Check all the triggers ⚠️

Skins is back as an extended version of Skin. This time, we get five interconnected stories with POVs from men who work/ have worked at The Pure Companion Company including Teddy (taxidermist) and the Founder himself.
So depraved, twisted and traumatizing. Each story is meant to be sicker or unhinged than the last but for me, the one with Migss really takes the cake or brings the bacon home (pun intended). I've already expected the Founder's story to be cringe and creepy af as he is the mastermind and all behind the perverted little experiments but the one which I really found revolting and uncomfortable was the one with Migss and his 'pet'. Would you rather be a doll or a worm? 😵‍💫

Big thanks to the publisher, Booksirens for the arc. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

'A case of lusting for love truly running skin deep...and more!'

Oh Lordy, Lordy, Lordy… what the hell have I just read? - Yep, LOVED IT!

A cleverly constructed extreme, in every sense of the word, horror story that concentrates on the objectification and degradation of the female body for the soul purpose of the sexual pleasure and gratification of the male population through the processing and use of real life -sized sex dolls… complete with natural human skin, to finish!

Prepare to be introduced to 5 male monsters that you might be unfortunate enough to meet in your wildest of nightmares. Keep your eyes wide open, the future awaits…

Thank you to Audrey and BookSirens for the ARC, which was gratefully received… and thoroughly enjoyed!

Thank you for the opportunity to ARC “SKINS”
I loved Morsel and the Skin novella; so I have been anticipating this psychotic horror! Audrey you continue to blow my mind in the best ways!🙌🖤

This book is insane! But I was absolutely here for it!! When a book can make you cringe, smell, feel, taste and hear all the descriptions (maybe even cause you to have some nausea and break a sweat 🤢) you have done a phenomenal job! 👏 The brutal characters and story lines come together and deliver an excruciating experience!

The author takes us on a climatic journey of the Pure Companion Company. We meet the maniacal men and learn their roles in producing an unparalleled product!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

HONESTLY, THIS BOOK IS PURE GENIUS.

Before diving in, I highly recommend reading the trigger warnings — this book is DARK. Just when you think it’s reached its limit, it takes things even further. It’s not for the faint of heart, but if you can handle it, you’re in for a wild, unforgettable ride.

The story kicks off with Gene, the company chemist, and I’ll admit the beginning felt a little disjointed and rushed. It was hard to see where things were headed, and it all seemed a bit all over the place. But as soon as we’re introduced to the other staff members of The Pure Companion Company, everything changes. Suddenly, it all starts to click, and the slow build of tension grips you completely. Believe me, it’s worth the wait.

The horror doesn’t hit you all at once — it creeps up, layer by layer, building steadily until it reaches an unrelenting peak with the company butcher, Miggs. His chapters were absolutely wild. I’m not exaggerating when I say I tore through those pages at lightning speed. My heart was racing the entire time. It was everything I love about slow-burn horror, but with an intensity that’s hard to describe.

I’m a big fan of horror books, and this one is easily one of the best I’ve read. It’s unsettling, gory, and brilliantly crafted. If you’re into books that start slow but reward your patience with mind-blowing twists, then this is the book for you. Just be warned — it’s not for the squeamish. This story stays with you long after it’s over, and not just because of the gore. It’s the characters, the slow realization of what’s truly happening, and the way every piece finally clicks into place at the end.

I’ve been thinking about it non-stop since I finished it, and I already know it’s going to haunt me for days. Honestly, if you love horror and don’t mind a bit (okay, a lot) of darkness, this book is a must-read. Just prepare yourself, because it pulls no punches.

Thank to Audrey Rush and to BookSirens for giving the chance to read this ARC. I really enjoyed it ♥️

Utterly repulsive, in the best way!

I cannot recommend Audrey Rush books enough!! I’ve said this a million times, but I’ll say it again, more people need to read Audrey Rush!

As a huge fan of Audrey Rush’s works I could not pass up the opportunity to arc read this book. I even got one of my friends to sign up for the arc as well.

I read the original short story early this year and was absolutely obsessed with Teddy’s depraved story, but this full length re-release is even better! Audrey never misses!

This book is definitely a very tough read and I found myself needing breaks. The women are treated completely as objects and most of the time don’t even have names.

Audrey’s stories always fill me with the most conflicted feelings and this book is no exception. Horror, and disgust are of course the main ones, but also a weird loyalty, especially towards Teddy since he’s the OG. But when reading Chase’s chapters I couldn’t help but feel empathy towards him, although that was crushed rather quickly. The harvest section might be my favorite, probably because I’m a dark romance girly at heart. I ate up the Chase chapters so quick and I might still slightly feel for him in the end lol.

The Farm section terrifies me the most honestly. Also just like with reading Morsel I’m both glad and horrified to be a vegetarian. This entire section made my stomach churn, especially the eyes and baby stuff. I had to take the most breaks with this one.

Little bit of a spoiler here, but I do kinda wish it was shown more about what happened with Pets ears just because I’m curious to know if he made her completely deaf or not (not that this even matters to the story).

I was so excited to see that we got more of the Founder! I couldn’t help but want to know more about his story as soon as he was mentioned in the Skin short story. He is such an interesting character! A true psychotic businessman through and through!

I truly love to hate him.

It’s also interesting how already connected all the characters seem to be outside of the company. “The world is smaller than we realize…” as the Founder has said.

Overall this was a roller coaster of a read and I never knew what to expect next. With each new introduced character came more atrocities that I never would have expected.

P.S the little Kent moments are everything!!

I’m disgusted and now have a slightly irrational fear thanks to the Farm part.

We get perspective for almost every step of the process and wow. There was one character I almost liked for a bit though I’m not surprised that changed.

Why read it? I don’t have an answer to that, just be prepared if you do decide to.

I love Audrey Rush’s writing style and while I’m not an avid horror reader, if she writes it I need it.

Pleasant surprise (might not be the right word) but a character she mentions briefly in this story will be in a future release in a shared world series that I cannot wait to dive into!

I received an early copy and this is my honest review.

If you enjoyed skin but wanted a deeper dive in the world like I did, skins is the book for you. This book answered all my questions. Once again Audrey has me questioning my sanity. This book is both disgusting and unhinged in the best kind of way. The detail Audrey goes into in this book makes it seem like this could be real life events.

I absolutely loved Skin, so I couldn't wait to dive into Skins! The author always knows how to deliver amazing stories.

This time, we’ve got a collection of five dark stories, all about how different characters meet “The Founder” and discover the founder’s unique journey. Each tale weaves together, creating a demented full-circle moment.

Our favorite taxidermist, Teddy, is back in action! Plus, there’s a pet and a new type of farm that will completely change the way you see farms forever.

Skins is a thought-provoking and intense read that really captured my attention. It's definitely different and unique, and I found a lot to appreciate in it! On my dark scale, it’s black and disturbing.

This was everything I needed from a sequel to Skin and then some!
Audrey Rush turned up the heat with this book. If you thought Skin had some gorey and shocking moments then I guarantee you, that was nothing compared to this book.
I needed to know what The Founders story was and all the other important and disgusting cogs in the company machine and this definitely delivered. I never expected The Founder to be a holy man, but the actual seed of his depravity was not what I was expecting. Bravo Audrey.

Wow what a book.
I've never read anything like this and maybe that's a good thing. I don't think I'd have been ready before.

Skins is a collection of stories from different perspectives that are interconnected and paint a picture so dark and depraved it's fascinating in a way that feeds the darkest abyss of the human mind.
I buddy-read it with @Stormbornbookshelf and she said it exactly right in her review: it builds up slowly and continuously crosses new limits.

It's a true, ingenious horror book and what makes it such is the fact that, while a lot of it was shocking, I believe every shocking action in this book could happen in real life. well, apart from the fact that the entire book revolves around the perfection of dolls I don't know would actually work, but I didn't even really question it during the read because of how well it was written.

I have an immense respect for Audrey Rush - I can only guess the amount of research that needs to go into a book like this and I can imagine a lot of it gets unpleasant real quick. Not to mention that the browser history must be the horror of every FBI agent.

Skins definitely took me past my own limits and into a world that is dark, beyond depraved and frighteningly intriguing to read about. I still regularly think about it, that's for sure.

Apart from the content and plot, I also really like Audrey Rush's writing style. She creates an intricate underbelly of our world, not sugar-coating or brushing over anything while also never giving us more than necessary. It won't be my last book of her, that much is for sure.

Before you pick up Skins, regardless of how dark your usual reads, please make sure you read the trigger warnings and are aware of what you're getting into.

First, let me either warn you—or entice you, if you’re into this sort of thing: This is horror at its most unrelenting. As my introduction to this author, it hit like a bolt of lightning, leaving me stunned, shaken, and utterly hooked. This chilling collection of five tales drags you into the twisted minds of five depraved individuals—characters so unnerving they’ll make your darkest nightmares look like cheerful Disney singalongs. Forget about trigger warnings—no amount of preparation could ready you for what lurks within these pages. You’ll want to proceed with caution. Or courage. Or maybe both. Let me be clear: this book doesn’t just make you uncomfortable; it unsettles you on a cellular level. At one point, I felt so nauseated I had to stop and regroup for a while. Forget about getting any restful sleep afterward. And yet, amidst all the chaos, I found myself caught up in a bizarre understanding of the motivation for the dolls—proof that even the road to hell can be paved with warped good intentions. And just when you think you’ve hit your limit, the author pushes you further—forcing you to grapple with horrors you didn’t think were possible. The tension builds insidiously, wrapping itself tighter and tighter until your brain is practically screaming, “Stop!” But there is no stopping. Audrey’s grip is relentless, dragging you deeper into her macabre world. So, if you think you’re brave enough to peer into this author’s pitch-black psyche, I dare you. Just know this: once you enter, you won’t emerge unscathed.

“A case of lusting for love truly running skin deep...and more!”

OMFG! I thought the first book Skin was dark and twisted but with this new extended version I am blown away by how incredibly dark and fucked up it was!

The story was horrifyingly brutal, violent, gory and disgusting - but I loved every bloodthirsty, cruel and depraved moment of it.

There were so many uncomfortable parts that made me question what the actual fuck was I reading, but I persevered and continued further and further into the pitch-black darkness that the Founder took us into in order to get his story told.

The Founder takes us on his quest to make the perfect life-like doll so men like him can fulfill their deepest and darkest desires. Along the way, we meet 5 of the most vile and perverse men that in turn help the Founder create his perfect doll.

My stomach turned with disgust, but the creative and emotional way the author portrays each man had me slightly sympathizing with their individual plights. But only slightly as these are some of the most extremely fucked up individuals. And honestly, the farm part gave me the biggest chills and had me on the verge of gagging.

This story was well written, contained some of the most insane and despicable characters and had a storyline that kept me extremely entertained, on the edge of my seat and trying to hold in the contents of my stomach!

Loved it!

FYI: this is an extreme erotic horror story filled with all kinds of triggers - so be warned!

Holy moly… Audrey babe. I honestly have no words. The entire time I was reading this I was thinking is it possible to be disturbed, disgusted and turned on all at once and the answer to that is yes.

It’s gory, unsettling, but brilliantly crafted. It’s a haunting horror story that has 4 interconnected tales and makes you rethink possibly what is going on behind the scenes at a taxidermist, a skin care brand, a butcher shop, and hell even a doll factory. I’ll never be the same, the characters, the interwoven storyline it will stick in my brain as Audrey’s books tend to do.

It’s hard to do horror in a new and intriguing way and babe you do it each and every time. It’s not just gore it’s an inventive take on something. Your writing transcends jump-scares and boogeymen and gives us a discourse that is magnificent, horrifying and fascinating.

I can’t wait to see what’s next!

Since reading ”Skin” I haven’t stopped wondering about the rest of the story. Now I don’t need to!

This is the wildest story I’ve ever read. Might have been too much even for me, if it wasn’t for Audreys way with words.

Without spoiling the story, I say this: Upplifting to see grown men solve their own problems.

I don’t really know how to review this book without being carted off in a white van giving myself a nice hug.
It was all kinds of sick, twisted and depraved, yet I couldn’t stop reading it. What does that say about me?

Would I read it again? Yes. Will I read more when they’re released? Yes. Do I recommend this? Yes!
Please for the love of everything check your triggers before reading this. It is an erotic horror. Think of the worse things you can read about, then throw them aside and think worse than that.

I would love to see the search history on Audrey’s browser after reading this.

This is definitely not for the faint of heart! This is my first time reading anything by Audrey, not for lack of not wanting to, and let me tell you, reading this just moved Morsel and My Girl so far up on my list. I don't know what it says about me that I found every piece of this book so erotic, but you know what? We don't judge here, and if you do, bye.
I love the face that it's 5 different short stories, all told by 5 different people, but it all ties into the same story line. Audrey did such an amazing job with all of it.

1/1 🧴

Audrey hit it out of the park again. This books is an extension of her book Skin. With four more stories added in that intertwine with the original story. I enjoyed this deep dive into the inter-workings of The Founder’s company and all of the smaller people that helped make the company what it is.

The whole idea of this book is absolutely insane. The end game for of all of the smaller stories is to provide for the founder and his company. Each persons story shows you how they know the founder or how they came to meet him.

Gene makes the special lotion that keeps the dolls “fresh”
Teddy is the taxidermist who puts the skin on the dolls.
Miggs is the man who provides meat.
Chase is the founders nephew who was his prime hunter.
Then The Founder is the last story.

Each story is from that persons point of view. I enjoyed every single story from all of their views. There were plenty of parts that made me cringe or wrinkle my nose but those were the parts that made this book so good. Every single person in this book is unhinged af. They’re also all psychopaths or mentally ill. I was here for it honestly. Those wtf moments made this book for me. Kept me on my toes.

One thing Audrey never fails to do is suck you into a story to where you have to finish it asap. I was excited to read this book. Audrey is one of my favorite erotic horror authors. I can’t wait to devour all of her other books as well.

OVERALL THOUGHTS:

I originally read Skin (Teddy's story) as a standalone. I liked it in a morbid kind of way so when this came out I was unsure if I wanted to read it. I thought it was a sequel, but it's actually a collection of stories about the people involved with The Pure Companion Company. Teddy's story is in here too, but we see a few other tales of the people The Founder has involved in his sick company, as well as a section about him too.

It's a morbid horror story about the gradual descent into darkness for the sake of success with a side of unhealthy lust and hate for women.

It's certainty not a comfortable read, but it's definitely fascinating in a train-wreck sort of way.

You can see my review for each story below:

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------

Raw (Gene) (3 stars)
(Read 6/18/2025 to 6/18/2025)
In this we meet Gene, who is an awkward chemist who cannot have sex with a woman unless she is unconscious. This has led to some bad choices in his life, along with the discovery of a special skin cream he invented that has led The Founder of The Pure Companion Company to approach him for a job.

Pretty good. Along the same lines as Skin. Crazy, out there, and totally messed up. But also morbidly fascinating too.

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------

Skin (Teddy) (3.5 stars)
(Read 6/18/2025 to 6/19/2025)
This is the story I read first before finding this anthology of stories. You can read my review for it there. The second time around it was a different perspective after reading about Gene (who made The Founder's Secret Formula cream).

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------

Harvest (Chase) (3 stars)
(Read 6/21/2025 to 6/21/2025)
The Founder's nephew, Chase, has been running from the role his uncle has wanted him to play in the company. But now he has made one too many mistakes and is in big trouble.

Interesting story that sheds some more details on The Founder and his methods. In some ways I felt bad for Chase. He's bad, but he also seemed like he so badly wanted a normal life. In the end, it's not for him to decide.

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------

Farm (Miggs) (2 stars)
(Read 6/21/2025 to 6/21/2025)
In this one we get a peek into The Pure Companion Company's other side of the business -- catering to cannibalism (literally). We meet Miggs, who is a truly disgusting individual who runs the farm that processes the human mean after the victims have been skinned. And we see what The Founder has in store for the future of the company.

Ugh. I honestly hated everything about this one. I do not in any way shape or form enjoy reading about cannibalism. It's just so vile and gross. And Miggs is gross. The whole farm is gross. And the plans The Founder has are gross.

I realize the previous stories were also vile in a different way, but for some reason this one was more gross to me. I think maybe because at least with Gene, Teddy, and Chase they started off trying to fight their murderous and perverted desires. But in this one, Miggs doesn't have any remorse at all. And he's disgusting.

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------

Pure (The Founder) (3 stars)
(Read 6/21/2025 to 6/21/2025)
In this one we finally get to follow the mysterious Founder from the start-ish of his journey down the dark path of using humans to make his sex dolls more realistic.

Pretty grim and morbid. But mostly what I expected to find from The Founder's story. Nothing very surprising to me. But I appreciated getting the bigger picture of what was going on behind the scenes during some of the other stories in the collection.

This novel is like a roller coaster, divided into bite-sized segments, each seen through the quirky lenses of different characters. Time hops and chapter lengths? Oh, they’re all over the place! Plus, there's a gem called “Skin” that serves up the original short story with some fresh, spicy chapters on the side.

Earlier this year, I devoured the original short tale and was hooked on Teddy’s spine-chilling saga, but this full-length version takes the creepy cake!

The plot thickens around a bunch of gents working for a company that churns out "pure dolls." Each segment zooms in on a different dude before hopping to the next, giving us a peek into their twisted minds. These aren’t your everyday guys; they’re a bunch of delightfully demented psychopaths, delighting in making life miserable for women just for kicks. Buckle up, it’s a wild ride!

Things to know
extreme objectification of women (and others) as products/property with absolutely no freedom and treated as lesser than human/men; date rape drugs; rape; stalking; breaking & entering paired with masturbatory voyeurism; animal cruelty & death; necrophilia; incest; family abuse (after 18+); parental murder; cannibalism; male bum eating; graphic violence including teeth extraction; self-harm (he punishes himself by hitting himself and knocking his head into a wall); virginity; extreme degradation; forced body modification (includes hair dye and body part removal); oral sex with the male member covered in period blood; name calling including “pig/piggy/hog/sow” (relating to meat); extreme jealousy leading to the girlfriend’s murder; cheating (she cheated on him in the past, and he imagines she is still cheating on him); open relationship (his primary girlfriend is dead, so he wants to date a living woman too); discussion of breeding & baby removal as a company resource; actual breeding; cannibalism of pregnant women (summarized, not detailed); mention of past baby eating; police corruption; police alluding to potential domestic violence in the home; absent parents, objectification, dollification, extreme degradation (includes treating women like animals & sex in her vomit), male bum eating, period play, somnophilia, non con (ends in death), primal play, breath play, knives (to murder), forced body modification (hair dye & body part removal), incest (father/daughter), breeding (for meat/dolls)

The organic.......

Skins is a compilation of short stories, where we get to understand how the Pure Companion Company came to be, it's pursuit for improvement and ways to achieve it.
Having been in contact with this peculiar industry since meeting Teddy Wright, in Skins we gather a privileged view of the Founder's ambitions, scouting techniques and prodution line, in a total economist perspective of supply and demand.
Organic in all it's dimensions, being it the constitution of the enterprise, the methods and final product, the narrative is freakingly (pun intended) and ingeniously abhorrent, terryfing and thoroughly provoking. And now we know why the Founder gets it always right when choosing the best, most d€praved and psychotic to work for him. He's the proverbial Puppeteer, calm, collected and assertive, ensnaring with truth, possibility and effectiveness, almost seductively, making his emplyees and clients the lever for develpment, and when not enought, there is always room for improvement.

Although I was always sympathetic toward Kent, with Miggs I had a full blast! In the same line of subversion as Kent, Miggs was open, shameless, almost unafraid of his wants and desires, having never denied his nature and himself. He always knew what his cravings were about and there was no space for internal conflicts, regrets or conscience. Even more dangerous, completely and utterly unhinged, proficient in savoir faire, Miggs was, I might say, the MVP in the Pure Companion Company, with visions and wills aligned with the Founder's and the same volition to go above and beyond.

The end was superbly executed, tying the tales together, joining the pieces and painting the picture perfectly, from its origins to the present day, giving valuable insight on the Founder, his ways of persuasion and elimination of the weak, promoting his employees freedom through the production process with improvement as key, the mastermind, the feakiest, sickiest and most deranged of them all, without even tainting his hands....
And a new player is already in line......

And I'll say this once again, I was reading Skins with a smile of my face for how f¥cked up it is, feeling like a maniac while enjoying and being downright invested in such a colorful take on gore and psychotic mayhem. because it's always a pleasure to have fun with a bersek mind!

This is my first book by Audrey Rush. Let me tell you, this book was MESSED UP but I couldn't put it down.

Skins is a horror novel that centers around men who each play a part in this company which makes dolls using human skin for men to use as they please (if ya know what I mean). All the pleasures highlighted serve a purpose when it comes to the bigger goal of perfecting the "dolls".

I was especially so interested in the founder and his backstory. I do feel bad for the guy. He was raised in a situation that led to him being the guy he is today... which is not exactly great. Imagine Ted Bundy wanting to use his desires to help others relieve their "needs" who are like him without personally killing anybody.

If you're a woman reading this, be prepared for the men to treat the woman like objects. At times you might be angry, sad, and confused but be prepared, it doesn't get much better.

The worst part for me was Gene's story. When he explained in depth the difference between the lotioned side of the body vs. the other, it made me feel a lil queasy. 🤢🤮

This is a book I will never forget. It truly leaves a mark. If you like dark books that are gross and depraved, boy oh boy do I have a great recommendation for you.

With all of that being said, I could not put this book down and kept needing to know more. I loved how each story played into each other and at the end you could see how they intertwine. It is well written and Audrey did a great job creating this world where it exposes some of the most twisted desires some people have.

But I will never see worms the same way again. 🪱🤮

Here are a few emojis to sum up the book:

If you've made it this far and are still interested, go read the book.

First we are introduced to Gene. Now you may get a little confused but trust me it comes together. Gene’s story is essentially the prequel to Skin. He plays a very important role and without Gene things wouldn’t happen the way they need to.
In the end Gene just wants to be loved for who he is without judgement.

Next we have Teddy! If you haven’t read Skin don’t worry his story is Skin with an added bonus. It’s all worth it. Good ol’ Teddy is and will always be my favorite. His depravity and skill is essential to the business. I absolutely love his thought process. He also slightly reminds me of Bundy and Gein combined into one character.

Chase is our next character. I don’t even know how to describe this portion of the story. So many things happen in this part that my brains wiring went haywire. Chase makes some mistakes and in the end finds out that improvement is key to the business.

Part 4 Miggs:
I don’t even know where or how to begin his part of the story. He gives off the creepy guy vibe 1000% and I wouldn’t want to go near him ever. However, he plays a key role in the story. This part of the story may be one of the most important to the aftermath of Skin.
Also, he’s a good businessman and knows when a business deal is too good to pass up.

Last but certainly not least we have the creative genius to the depravity The Founder! Let’s get into the mind of a mad man and literal genius. Think outside the box with this character because he is the worst of the worst. Does he have the best business mindset yes. However, everything is an object and nothing goes to waist!

All in all if you have read Skin this is the one you want to read! This is an exceptional book. The author took the creativity of this book to another level. This book did not disappoint and I was not expecting what I read!
One of the best 5 star reads for me this year.

Absolutely a true ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!

Before I received this book as an arc, I read the book Skin by Audrey Rush, so I know what I was getting into. I also loved that book, and I read it, I wanted to know so much more about The Founder and the company Teddy worked for.

Let me tell you, this did NOT disappoint! In Skins, you learn about The Pure Companion Company, and each part of what makes up a Pure Companion. I couldn't put this book down once I started, because each character was so unique. Were they all completely unhinged and a bit (okay a lot messed up? Yes. But this took the novella Skin, and turned it into a full blown story. It even added more parts to the book Skin, so do not skip that story, even if already read the original novella. Not only were the stories split up between each individual and their job within the company, but also some twists that tied each story together. I definitely saw the connections, but not the twists coming for some of them.

If you like to read erotic horror (and this is an erotic horror), then I suggest you run to pick up this book.

No HEA, no romance, just pure gore, horror, erotica and a messed up vision of someone called The Founder.

***I was given this as an ARC for free and writing a review voluntary. All opinions are my own.***

This is my first TRUE (erotic?) horror. Emphasis on the horror.I have never been so disgusted, yet intrigued by a plot line and its contents. There were times when I wanted to stop, but I just couldn't look away.

Honestly, to me, it reads somewhat satirical... or maybe the feminist in me chooses to believe it's satire based on how narcissistic and controlling these "men" are. They choose to treat women like subservient garbage and can only find any sexual pleasure and release by physically altering or harming them.

Skins is told in 1st person POV from multiple characters, each primary character privy to their own section of chapters and divulging their overall importance in the arc of the story surrounding the Pure Companion Company. A company whose sole purpose is to create a sex doll so realistic (with you guessed it- real human skin) and so programmable, that it makes the need for "real" human women basically obsolete. Where every aspect of the doll can be controlled to fit it's owner's desire.

Here we meet Gene (the chemist) with a penchant for somnophilia and quilting, Teddy (the taxidermist) who enjoys the primal frolick through the woods and watching the light leave a lady's eyes while she's dying, Chase (a harvester) who falls for one of his targets, Miggs (the farmer) who makes me think of Miss Piggy in a whole different light, and the Founder (the depraved brains behind the whole operation) who has an incestual fascination with his perfect, pure daughter.

Although it is well-written and I do like the overlapping connections between the characters, I don't know if I could ever recommend someone read it. That is, of course, unless I want a woman to rage against the patriarchy. I did FEEL things while reading. Hatred. Disgust. Nausea. Near vomiting while eating dinner. Don't make the same mistake I did. DO NOT EAT WHILE READING MIGGS SECTION. I can not emphasize this enough.
I am intrigued enough to read Morsel and her next book about the asylum director.
