Welcome back to the United Kingdom, now swarmed with blue zombies (smurfs anyone?) with yellow eyes and a big appetite for anything living and moving. The only safe place is on sea/water, as these critters don't like water, and also can't swim.
The book hits off where we left the previous book, Alex and Lucy on a boat, Alex planning to go off to the mainland to find his dear brother and parents. Of course this is a zombie apocalypse, but not only the zombies are the deadly ones. The survivors also do crazy stuff that is pretty scary.
We pretty quickly go into the action with Alex being separated from his girlfriend Lucy. He has to find her, and also find his brother. On his way he meets with new people, people I didn't always like (mostly for their over-the-top stuff), but generally they were a good bunch of characters and I really kept hoping throughout the book that they would survive, because knowing the previous book, I knew the author just loved killing off characters. :) I won't spoil anything of course, so if you want to find out who lives and who dies, well you will have to read the book!
At times I didn't like the book, it was just a bit too much at times. Conspiracy stuff, military actions, and I felt that what we had in the previous book (Normal guy and his friends getting screwed over by zombies and just trying to survive) was just way more close to home than this book was.
We also find out more about the zombie apocalypse, the zombies themselves and the military, and I must say that it was very effective as a twist. I did have my suspicions, but with an event happening in the previous book, I wasn't sure about it all.
We also have a new kind of zombie, and dear Lord, did that one creep me out. *shivers* The author really has a way with words and the descriptions of our new "friends" just made me want to close the book and bundle up under a bunch of warm blankets. Especially that one part in the village. Man, that was just creepfest galore.
All in all the book was pretty great, and that ending was just stunning and fantastic, I didn't see that one coming.
Would I recommend this book? Yes, even with the over-the-top stuff this was still a great and very creepy read.

Wow, I loved 'Storm' and now I can't wait to read the next one. 'Storm' is book two and follows on nicely from where book one 'Rain' finished. A zombie plague has swept across Britain and now survivors are clinging on to life and the army seems to be collecting them together and putting them into armed camps. Alex and Lucy have escaped the mainland and are aboard their boat "The Big Easy" and Alex is desperately trying to locate his brother and parents by obtaining information from the survivors board - a list of survivors now holed up in survivors camps.
A dangerous trip into Swansea marina ends up with Alex being separated from Lucy and their boat. Alex runs from one dangerous situation into the next and meets a small group of people and together they embark on a mission and discover that a plan to vaccinate the remaining army has accidentally resulted in a zombie hybrid virus and an even more dangerous lethal killer......
A really addictive zombie novel which captures your interest and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Highly recommended!

I enjoyed this book, it was well written and exciting, but... I just feel that there is something missing. As with book 1, the author seems to have held back from going really big on the storyline. There was so much more potential, with epic scenes just crying out to be written. The storyline is very tight and I think that is the problem. Just when you think something huge and large-scale is waiting around the corner, it kind of fizzles out. Each chapter ends with a cliff-hanger, only for our heroes to escape, yet again, with a hop, skip and a jump to safety. Therefore, there is little sense of jeopardy, as they seem to escape all manner of situations against overwhelming odds. Having said that, I still enjoyed it. The book is quick and breezy. I will continue with the series to see where the story goes from here.

Another beauty by Mr Harbinger!!
I was so excited to get my teeth into this book but instead it got its teeth into me!
As with the prequel it was like watching a high paced episode of a well known zombie show... It was go go go. Every chapter was short and sweet with something each time to keep the pace.
What I liked most about this book was that it wasn't just a copy of the first book. It evolved. Characters grew, dangers changed, plans were made and the virus twisted into new and exciting enemies as well as the growing army threat!
The only issues I had with this book was
a) I didn't have enough time to read it and with such a fast paced novel, taking such break from reading broke the momentum and at times I found it difficult to jump back into the roller coaster.
B) although it's just me being picky, I felt the "educated guesses" were a little TOO educated and I felt that the characters knew too much about what was going on and although I'd love to think my obsession with zombie movies/tv shows/games/books etc would make me invincible if I ever faced an apocalypse I doubt I'd be that quick on the ball.
But overall, well done Shaun!!!

2nd instalment of 3. A zombie apocalypse in England, with a very unlikely over weight protagonist. These two books just maybe the best Z reads I have ever read. Moves at a fast pace, and gives a sense of urgency when the shit hits the fan. It gets even better when there are hybrids that become "runners". Book number three coming up, can't wait!

Good continuation
My only problem was the overuse of the boat name and the boat shop. That drove me crazy (personal thing)
Cleanly written. I read it in one night. Can't wait to find out what happens next.

Fantastic
Book one was great and book two did not disappoint. Fantastically written and flowing storyline. Great characters. Very much enjoyed. On to book 3!!

Another great read.
Book 2, and enjoying the story/journey of the hero. Great twist with the hybrid version of zombies. I like the references to films which makes it realistic.

Good read
This book moved along at a faster pace than the first book. The New hybrid zombie thrown in makes survival a bit trickier for our survivors . Bring on the next book!

All in all, a good book. I like this genre, and this book was fast paced, good characters, and a good overarching storyline. All in all, worth while!

Exciting!
I enjoyed book one but book two?? So good and so interesting. There was a lot happening.. The first book when the outbreak began, was four friends trying to survive, but book two was so much more. Being separated from Lucy, I feared for Alex trying to make it on his own but then he met new survivors. I liked how he very quickly became part of the group but never forgot Lucy, he hesitantly agreed to help his new friends, so he could get a message to Lucy.. I didn't think he'd make it.. Many times.. But the ending? Nooooo... Looking forward to book Three

We sailed from Plymouth and land in Plymouth.
The Bad: There is a lot of the same places visited in this book. That's not really that bad in the grand scheme of things but that with again secondary characters that are hard to feel for. I like longer books and a chance to get to know the characters and feel for them. Jax is about the only one you get a small feeling for. Lucy I would have liked to read about a little more in this book as well.
The Good: As a 'gamer' Alex is kinda stupid. However it's still a fun journey to see if he stays that way or becomes a somewhat timid badass. Jax I liked. (Sam was kinda like Mike to me and Tanya just not enough info or scenes that connect with you.) Now the zombies, that's the part of the reason the book is good. They are different. Sure they kinda have the same colorings as Avatars, buts its a neat visual in the mind. Also the different types of Zombies is a nice twist again. The hybrids are definitely up there with Zombies you wouldn't want if you wanted to live in a Zombie apocalypse.
Would I read Lightning (Book 3)? Yes and just to be safe I'll read it when it's raining.

Alex just heard his brother on Survivor Radio and the only thing on his mind is to rescue them. him and Lucy try to get as close to land as possible he jumps done to check things out and gets scared by a survivor and ax. By the time he gets back to the boat it is gone and so is Lucy. Now he has to get back to boat but how...

I really enjoy this series. Alex is a very likable leading character and I picture him fitting in with the Big Bang Theory group. This book sort of took the story in a different direction that I'm not sure I'm liking but I can't stop now. I gotta see how it ends.

Loved this book!! Storm is part 2 which developed into one fantastic story line!!! Who would of thought zombies mutated?? All I can say is..... AWESOME!!!

Pretty enjoyable, 3.5* to be fair. More interesting plot than the first book and it was nice to see the main character management up a little and take control!
