Malakai is a spoken word artist who has everything a man can desire, Money, Power, and a chain of Upscale Nightclubs. He has prospered quite well in his success mostly because of the lovely ladies that work his underground escort business. Malakai and his fierce girlfriend Asperilla have instituted a pleasurable service that provides sexual memories to clients that will last a lifetime. No one in the city is exempt from the oldest profession; they serve athletes, government officials, and even pastors. Between his joy of performing poetry and living a double life as a pleasure purveyor, everything is perfect, until the ever scheming Asperilla goes too far and creates a scandal that unwittingly leads to the death of a prominent leader in the city. His intuition is to set up another escort service in a different city, profit the money, and leave the secret business behind forever. The more he tries to change, the more greed and pleasure is been consumed by the ones he love and his enemies. Retaliation comes in all forms as he witness the murder of his closest friend, Love Divine, and the arrest of the woman he loves. He has no choice but to put the mic down and risk everything he has to save the woman he loves and seek revenge on those that thought he was just a man of words.

Let me begin with the preacher’s wife — really. There’s so much going on here that it’s hard to know where to start. The Poetic Whore dives deep into a world that’s raw, provocative, and layered with contradiction. This isn’t about street corner girls; these are high-end escorts navigating a brutal, glittering world filled with both luxury and danger.

Flenardo doesn’t shy away from the hard truths — there’s violence, and even more sexual violence, but it’s never gratuitous. It serves a purpose, pushing the story forward and forcing the reader to confront uncomfortable realities. The writing is vivid, the characters complex, and the themes unapologetically bold.

It’s gritty, it’s intense, and somehow still poetic. Definitely a very good read — just be prepared for a wild, thought-provoking ride.

Adult!!

This was my first read from this author and I will not say a lot but what I will say is I love the way the author was able to add poetry into his writing of this novel. It was adult, very spicy oh it was spicy and exciting to read. I would love to see this author recite his poetry live. If he still does. A very good read for adults!

The world of poetry will never be the same!! This book was a whirlwind of twists and turns. Asperilla and Malaki are a match made in heaven. The Poetic Whore is not for the faith at heart when it comes to erotic splendor. Met the author a few months ago at an event and his charisma was intriguing. Reading his work took me by surprise, but I look forward to finding out what's next for A & M. I know their adventure will be exciting to say the least.

Loved this!

Could not put it down. Was riveting and the twists and turns in the story made it totally enjoyable! The 300 references had me jumping up! Sparta indeed! Awesome!
