Another great book by this author - really enjoyed it. Plenty of characters, but not too many to get confusing and their stories mix together well. Fabulous settings (definitely made me want to go back to Majorca!) and some great storylines which all met together well in the end. Great holiday read - highly recommended if you want a bit of escapism!

Carol Kirkwood has once again delivered a novel that feels like a true escape from the everyday. Her writing style has a rare quality: it doesn’t just describe a setting, it immerses you in it. With every turn of the page, you’re transported into the landscapes, the glamour, and the emotions of the characters’ world. She has a way of weaving atmosphere so richly that you can almost hear the sounds, feel the textures, and breathe in the air of the places she evokes.

At the heart of the story is Camille, a successful and celebrated fashion designer. Through her, Kirkwood balances two strands of storytelling: the dazzle and elegance of a glamorous career, and the quieter, more complex layers of family and the secrets that can shape relationships. This contrast creates a depth that makes the book so much more than just a tale of success or style—it’s about identity, belonging, and the truths that lie beneath the surface.

What stands out most in Meet Me at Sunset is the emotional resonance. While the settings sparkle with luxury and beauty, the human story grounds everything in reality. The characters feel authentic, with struggles and desires that are easy to connect with, even when their lives seem worlds away from our own. That blend of escapism and relatability is what makes Kirkwood’s work so enjoyable—you can be swept up in the glamour yet still reflect on the themes that touch closer to home.

This is a book that offers both indulgence and thoughtfulness. It’s beautifully written, immersive, and layered in a way that stays with you long after you’ve finished. Fans of atmospheric storytelling and character-driven drama will find much to love here.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC - a truly wonderful read!

This new novel by Carol Kirkwood is the perfect holiday read.
Set in Mallorca, it really immerses the reader in the atmosphere of the island, the scenery and sun, and even some of the food specialities.
At the centre of the story is Camille Fontaine, owner of a very successful couture house she founded with her now deceased husband André. She is in Mallorca for the show of her new collection and new partnership with the fashion house run by Nicolas, her first boyfriend and current lover. There is a lot of glitz, many rich and famous, her son's successful restaurant to be proud of and the excitement of the new collection. But behind all this is a series of secrets that come back from the past to haunt Camille and the glitzy romance becomes a mystery novel with plenty of nasty characters.
I enjoyed the novel and, although the ending did not come as a surprise, it had a nice tempo and kept me turning the pages. Perfect moments of escapism, whether reading on holiday or getting into your bubble on a crowded train.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins for giving me the opportunity to review this book. All opinions are my own.

An entertaining novel about fashion, love and cheating husbands! Camille was at college with Andre and Nicolas, she first fell for Nicolas, but then Andre swept her off her feet with charm and visions of their future together. The threesome ended up working together setting up what was to become a very successful atelier in France, called CamilleAndre. We join the story when Andre has been killed in a car crash, with their son Lucas managing to escape death, but left with a huge scare on his face. Lucas is the chef in a restaurant in Mallorca where Camille's grandmother had looked after Lucas during school holidays when the parents were too busy building their company. There is a reasonably fast paced/page turning intriguing, suspenseful scenario that plays out between Lucas and Paulo his old Mallorcan school holiday friend, Lucas's girlfriend Elle ,Isobel and Stuart, Catherine Zeta Jones (!), Stephanie the budding actress and Camille and Nicolas. Quite a cast of characters but not so many you get confused!
I enjoyed the read, being swept away to sunny climates and a bit of glamour!

I love the way Carol reels you into the glitzy and glamorous life of the rich and famous. As soon as I started this, I found it very hard to put down.
Mostly set on the island of Mallorca, we follow Camille's journey from struggling fashion designer to being at the very top where everyone wants to wear Camille Andre and carry the Camille bag.
The book takes us back to the 1970s, where a young Camille gets her head turned by the unsuitable Andre while she is living with Nicholas. How they formed the fashion brand.
Camille's son Lucas is a chef. He is having flashbacks to the car accident, which killed his father. He also has a high drama of a girlfriend, Elle. He has his head turned by Stephanie, who is an actress taking time out from the film she is starring in.
There is plenty of name dropping, lots of drama, and a good dash of romance that makes this the perfect summer read.
Thanks to Netgalley and HarperCollins UK for the ARC in return for an honest review.

Perfect holiday reading!! Gorgeous escapism from the Spanish island of Mallorca, full of glamour, film stars, fashion industry icons, models and an aspiring Michelin chef. This books wraps you up in a journey all the way to the end!! Drama, blackmail, secrets and affairs this book has it all. Beautifully written with wonderful characters.
Camille has planned a spectacular show and launch on Mallorca where her only son runs a successful restaurant. But it appears her past is catching up with her and without the love of her life by her side she is struggling. Who is trying to bring her down?
The book includes flashbacks to the past as the shared history is uncovered of the remarkable journeys the characters have been on from Paris to New York.
Loved this book! Full of magic, easy to be swept along and had me guessing for quite a while!
Hugely recommended and loved!
Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins for the read, greatly appreciated.

Camille runs a successful fashion house which she, her husband and a close friend started 20 years before. Sadly her husband was killed in a car accident 4 years before. She is now hosting a fashion show of her latest designs in Mallorca. Nicolas, the close friend, has proposed.
Her son, Lucas, runs a successful restaurant on the island. They have it all, what can go wrong?
Isobel arrives on the island with her plastic surgeon husband to have a two week break. Unbeknown to each of them, they both have an agenda for coming to the Island.
Paolo, Lucas's business partner seems to be a bit distant with him and there are some major hiccups with the restaurant that he is supposed to have under control.
Who is sending Camille letters?
Things all come to a head as the run up to the show gets underway.
A nice read which wants you to keep reading.

It started a bit like a Karen Swan novel, lots of name dropping and monied place naming.

It wasn't a bad thriller though a bit obvious and I realised I didn't really like any of the characters, they were all very flawed. Camille was a selfish workaholic, Andre a philander, Nicolas a bit of a door mat dependant on his love for Camile. Isobel had been taken advantage of, fairly obvious that Stuart was a player., Lucas was an ex playboy and layabout, Stephanie damaged by her mother, Elle a gold digger, Paolo chip on his shoulder and riven with jealousy.

I wondered if Catherine Zeta Jones had been asked about her part in it?

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

Ms Kirkwood’s style of writing is going from strength to strength. Here she has produced a strong mystery novel, which combined with romance both past and present, makes for a compelling and engaging novel. There is the occasional mention of an A-lister which adds a bit of class. Set on the idyllic island of Majorca away from the bustling crowds, Camille prepares to launch the new face of the Camille Andre fashion house and the partnership with American Athletics, with celebrities flying in from all points of the globe. Beneath the surface are lies and deceit bubbling away. A most enjoyable and entertaining read.

My thanks to NetGalley and the publishers HarperCollins for this ARC for review.

I so pleased during the long summer holidays that this popped into my in box from the publisher and NetGalley.

A great summer read, I am familiar with Carol's writing having reviewed her novel Under A Greek Moon forNetGalley.

This novel is set in Mallorca and is so glamourous- fashion and film stars, and a chef with his heart set on the covetted Michelin star.

Carol writes a good story with fab characters.

Camille has planned a wonderful show on the island and where her only son is running a sucessful resturant. All sounds perfect but is it ? Camille past is catching her up and is someone trying to rain on her parade?

We learn from the past from the characters journeys from Paris to the Big Apple.

A great holiday read so recommended.

Carol Kirkwood once again transports us to the glamorous world of the rich and famous, this time based in Mallorca, Paris and New York.

Camille is a renowned fashion designer, famous for her companies ‘must have’ luxury bag that she developed with her late husband and business partner Andre.

Four years on from his death Camille is about to launch her latest collection, a collab with an American sports company. But in the run up to the launch a threat to everything she holds close rocks her to the core.

Who from her past would want to destroy her and why?

A most enjoyable read based on the beauty of Mallorca, Paris and New York. This is your escapist summer read. Highly recommended.

What a delightful and enjoyable book finished it in one day set in Majorca.
Loved the character Camille who is a designer trying to move on after the death of her husband and also hiding from her son an affair while trying to organise a fashion show to show her latest collection.

Meanwhile her son who runs a restaurant has problems with his business partner Paulo and his so called girlfriend Elle.

This has passion and jealousy with a gripping story that keeps you wanting to read more.

You know its summer when a Carol Kirkwood book appears and I was starting to worry there wasn't going to be one this year but alas here it is!

This summers read is set in Majorca & France and is everything you want from a summer read - glamour, locations, fashion, great characters and romance.

I really liked the characters in this one and was invested early on. I LOVED the cameo from Catherine Zeta Jones!

There's a great plot line and enough romance, intrigued, and mystery to make you fly through this one, hopefully whilst on a sunlounger!

A wonderful storyline with different characters coming together in Mallorca but as worlds collide who will come out as winners or losers. Camille is a CEO of a designer company but as she is blackmailed can she find out who is responsible. A mixture of romance and intrigue. One of Carols best books. Thanks to Carol and her publisher.
