KARA
I crossed dimensions with one kill the monster who will go on to destroy worlds someday. I didn't expect to find my fated mate stopping me. I definitely didn't expect to end up carrying his baby. Dominick Ferraro is ruthless, dangerous, and absolutely irresistible. He's also protecting the very man I need to eliminate. Now something wild is awakening inside me, a secret power I've never felt before. And every time he's near, my control slips further away. The longer I stay in his world, the harder it becomes to leave. He may be a predator to everyone else, but I see how fiercely he protects his family. And now I'm carrying his child—a baby that could either save or destroy both our worlds. This wasn’t supposed to happen. It could ruin everything! And that’s only the start of my problems. I wasn’t supposed to linger in this world after the assassination. The longer I stay, the more I risk losing my way home forever. If I complete my mission, I'll start a supernatural war that could tear apart everything Nick loves. But if I don't, the evil spreading through the dimensions will consume everything—including our unborn child.
NICK I don't need complications, especially not from some mysterious otherworldly warrior with deadly skills and even deadlier secrets. But Kara Blackmoon isn't giving me a choice. She appears in my hotel, naked and armed, about to start a supernatural war. Now my wolf is claiming her as mate, and she's awakening as a shifter herself. Worse, she's hunting the one man whose death would destroy the fragile peace between families. I should stop her before she ruins everything. Before my enemies realize she's my weakness. Instead, I find myself breaking every rule to keep her close. She makes my wolf howl for things I never knew I wanted. Then I learn she's carrying my child—an impossible heir born of two worlds. If the interdimensional evil stalking her discovers the existence of our baby, it will paint a target on my mate and unborn child. And that's something I won't allow to happen. Not even if it means starting an all-out supernatural war.
MARK OF THE ALPHA is a scorching hot romantic fantasy featuring a possessive alpha wolf, secret baby, fated mates, enemies-to-lovers, and enough steam to fog up your kindle. This epic standalone romance delivers intense action, time travel, and an epic love story that defies the laws of space and time. Features morally grey characters making questionable choices, action violence, Kindle melting steam levels, and a guaranteed HEA that will leave you breathless.
This wasn't a terrible book, I liked parts of it for the most part but others were just to out there to really enjoy. I get the "timeline" issue but something about the way it was portrayed for the two main characters up until their last interaction didn't quite work for me. The magical system was innovative and interesting so there was that and a meld of magic and science was also done well.
Mark of the Alpha: Eight Fated Mates by Biki Ash is an entertaining journey into the supernatural world of fated mates, interdimensional drama, and mafia shifters. If you're a fan of paranormal romance and high-stakes, steamy relationships, this book offers a lot to sink your teeth into.
Kara and Nick are complex characters thrown together in a whirlwind of action, passion, and dangerous choices. The premise is strong, blending an interdimensional assassin's mission with the raw power of fated-mate attraction. The dynamic between Kara and Nick is intense, with moments of heartfelt vulnerability shining through their otherwise volatile relationship.
The world-building is ambitious, weaving dimensions, mafia politics, and supernatural elements into a tapestry that's as intriguing as it is chaotic. However, some aspects of the narrative feel rushed. The connections between characters, particularly the relationships among Nick and his mates, lack the depth needed to fully immerse readers in their emotional journeys. Additionally, the book’s “enemies-to-lovers” label is misleading—it’s more of a reluctant allies-to-lovers arc, which may disappoint readers looking for a true enemies dynamic.
Kara’s storyline, while compelling, occasionally stumbles. Certain events and her powers feel underexplained, leaving gaps in an otherwise engaging narrative. Dialogue repetition also detracts from the emotional impact, and some scenes could have used a stronger edit for clarity and pacing.
Despite these drawbacks, Mark of the Alpha has undeniable potential. The chemistry between Kara and Nick is sizzling, the action keeps you on your toes, and the stakes are high enough to keep you turning the pages. While it’s not without its flaws, it’s a solid start to what could be a thrilling series.
I’m excited to see how Biki Ash evolves this world and its characters in future installments. If you’re looking for a fast-paced, steamy escape into a paranormal mafia romance, this is definitely worth a read!
Biki Ash’s Mark of the Alpha presents an intriguing concept of fated mates bound to an alpha, setting the stage for an epic romance and intense dynamics. The premise is bold and certainly grabs attention, promising a tale filled with passion, power struggles, and complex relationships.
What Worked: The author’s world-building stands out as a highlight. The alpha, with his dominant yet vulnerable persona, is an engaging character, and the mates have distinct traits that add variety to the ensemble cast. The pacing is brisk, keeping the plot moving and holding the reader's interest.
What Could Be Improved: While the premise is strong, the execution occasionally falls short. The relationships between the characters, particularly the alpha and his mates, sometimes feel rushed, making it hard to fully invest in their connections. Additionally, the dialogue can feel repetitive at times, detracting from the emotional depth of the story. It's sold as an Ennemy-to-Lover but it's really not. Also, I thought some of the events that happen to Kara are not well explain or you don't know why they happen.
Final Thoughts: Mark of the Alpha is an entertaining read for fans of paranormal romance, especially those who enjoy unconventional and ambitious relationship dynamics. While it has its flaws, the story’s potential and creative world-building make it worth a try. I look forward to seeing how the series evolves in the next installments.
