G. Bailey is a USA Today bestselling author of books that are filled with everything from dragons to pirates. Plus, fantasy worlds and breath-taking adventures. Oh, and some swoon-worthy men that no girl could forget. G. Bailey is from the very rainy U.K. where she lives with her husband, two children and three cheeky dogs.
I was so happy to be picking this up and diving back into Vina’s world for this thrilling sequel to Year 1. This picked up where book 1 ends. Corvina’s story is full of this roller coaster of shock and suspense being thrown at you. There are some steamy sexy moments that will have you feeling hot in all the right ways. The character and story growth is top notch. I couldn’t put it down and devoured this read in one sitting. This does end on a cliffhanger but still definitely worth the read. The suspense to find out how everything ends/wraps up in book 3 is killing me! You will laugh, squeal, and sometimes wanna strangle a character. Try this series out! <3
Sizzle! Shadowborn Academy is back baby and it kicks off with quite the surprise! It picks up right where book one left us, and you're immediately plunged back into the extraordinary world this author dream team has created! I will never not be captivated by way these two authors bring their words to life. It's really amazing to fall into this series and your imagination just explodes into this magical world of the fae. The detail and back story is intriguing and holds you captive. This is book two in Shadowborn Academy, the Dark Fae Academy series. It's full of surprises, thrilling suspense, white-hot passion and loaded with trouble! Get ready for the surprises because they are thrown at us! Like whattttt!!! And poor Vina, she is truly so kicka>>, she is also a beacon for trouble! She just takes everything in stride, she's got her plate chocked full this year and that suspicion that something isn't quite right. Her guys have really banded together to keep her safe and they are so swoony this book! We have sooo many Sexy moments, my heart swelled and I probably drooled! I don't have a favorite guy, they're all my favorites! I really, really love them all, each one completes Vina! I swallowed this book way to fast and my mind is just spinning! This book started with a bang and it ended with one too! That cliffy was brutal! Oh my heart! I'm ready for some revenge and a war! I love these characters so much and I can't wait to see what book three will have, I know it's going to be amazing! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I didn't enjoy this much as the first as the story felt a lot more mismatched. I am not sure if it is lining up the rest of the series or it is just too many ideas coming together at once but it didn't flow as wel. The ending was predictable albeit I wasn't expecting it for a few more books and I do wonder what corvina will do to restore the balance
I loved this book probably more than the first one of the series. There was just so much that happened and so much information (not info dumping)was revealed about Corvina and the world these 2 authors have created. I was glued to my kindle as soon as I started this book.
I am still in awe about how creative these 2 authors are when it comes to crafting fantastical books. They manage to create a unique world that is so detailed that I am easily lost within the pages.
I am curious to see what happens next after that ending with Eva, Queen Nerah, and King Ulric. The identity of Ambrose was a pleasant surprise and I’m excited to see him be brought into Corvina’s life and harem.
I cannot wait to read the next book in this series and the next book in Izy’s spinoff series of Shadowborn Prison.
The second installment in this series has Corvina meeting her biological parents. She also finds she has a sister. How will this all play into her life? Pitch, Gage, Zander and Jonah will all be there to get her through, as well as a new addition.
I am so annoyed right now... The last half of this book had me so frustrated, that I started airing my grievances out load to my cat!!
There were so many inconsistencies. The first book had a few, but the story was good enough that it didn't bother me too much. This second book had so many mistakes, that I found myself highlighting passages just so I could make notes...
Near the end, it was like the author just wanted to get from point D all the way to point Z, without putting much thought or effort in. I mean, Corvina let Ronan drag her by the throat without any fight at all... I mean this girl is suppose to be a badass.. WTF??
Then she has to go see her father to warn him about her Sisters betrayal by herself... Even though she KNOWS, 2 of her guys can cross through the portal... AND then, right before she's about to cross, she tells Sage that she will stay so they can talk and eat vegetarian pizza if she wants.. oh and BTW, since when is Sage Vegetarian?? She ate that Ham sandwich thing Ronan gave them at the beginning of book 1...
I am mostly frustrated because this story has a lot of potential and I was invested in it...It's so disappointing when Authors change characters so completely just to get the outcome they want...

I’ve read G. Bailey books off and on and have always found them perfectly adequate if overly simplified in plot, character development, etc. this book is nothing like the others. I wish this book would have been perfectly adequate or even mediocre adequate.
The plot is choppy, the trial challenge barely took a chapter and in it one of the MC men is a fire dragon, yet a few chapters later he is a water dragon.
Toward the end, she gets an obvious and I mean obvious letter that is a trap. In fact another person tells her it is and offers to go get an army for her. But no, she’s so badass she races off into yup the cliche trap. She doesn’t even seem slow down to plan anything or seem surprised. The entire time she’s inner monologuing about how the enemies should be scared of her as they totally take her down. I mean they take her out embarrassing fast. It was like defeating a baby who hasn’t even discovered she has hands. And the evil plan is a success. It took probably 3 minutes.
This book was horrible. It didn’t even have decent sex scenes. It had nothing but disappointment and wtf.

"Where there is light, there is darkness and power".
I like G. Bailey and I like Scarlett Snow but I don't think I like them together. Of course, I can't be sure of this as this is the only collaboration that I have read of theirs. I know it may seem small, but what is a book without correct details. For example, in Year One, Corvina loves to dance, and in Year Two all of a sudden she's "not a big dancer". Details matter, no matter how small. Also, Zander shooting fireballs when he's fighting with another dragon, and then later in the book he's all of a sudden a water dragon. Um, what. There is more that I could get into but I don't want to have any more spoilers in this review, I'm a glutton for punishment though as I now have to read Year Three. So let's see what that brings us.
This book is another wild ride as Vina's life is turned upside down. Picking up right where Year One left off, Corina wakes up to a new life. Everything she thought she knew about herself was wrong and now she's left trying to navigate the worlds she is now a part of.
As heir to both the light and dark fae kingdoms, and a shadowborn, Vina is struggling to balance her powers, school, and the family she has just found. On top of all of this, she is also learning some of the guys' secrets as they start to grow closer.
There is a lot of action happening in this book and tons of new information added in. It is very fast paced and exciting, but I would like a little more world building and relationship building added in so it doesn't seem quite as rushed. I feel like everything is moving very fast and I'm lacking some information, but I'm sure some of my questions will be answered in book 3. Overall Year Two is a fun and exciting read and I can't wait to see what happens to Vina next!
I was so happy to be picking this up and diving back into Vina’s world for this thrilling sequel to Year 1. This picked up where book 1 ends. Lots and I mean LOTS of inconsistencies. Some things changed from book 1 to book 2 and then things gets changing in this book. Zander being a gold fire dragon changes into a water dragon in the end, like what?!
Corvina is really not the sharpest tool in the shed. Like that letter, come on girl, if your dad wants to contact you he can do it without a letter. And how easily Ronan was able to take the upper hand in the fight when she obviously is stronger than him and Eva together...
Corvina searches for sage and will stop at nothing. As she continues her journey a list of guys keeps getting bigger. She suspects something is wrong with her sister and she does not trust her. That's for good reason to cuz it turns out her sister is betraying everyone and she is raising chaos. Will corvina be able to stop her?
What a thrilling sequel in this otherworldly series!!!
So much drama, action, suspense and anticipation! Our heroine has so much going on for her in this books. I absolutely enjoyed this!!!
Such lovable characters, and characters you wish you could shake and more! Such amazing character development and growth with all of them and their relationship, it’s such a treat to witness.
Such detailed and vivid imagery when it comes to the world building it truly feels like you are in the book. Such a captivating world these great authors bring us. I cannot wait for the third book.
Warning ⚠️ ends on a cliffhanger, so if that’s not your cup of tea, well, you were warned!!
She meet mommy and daddy while looking for her friends that wants missing, as you read on emotions soar and I had to re-read just to make sure I'm reading it right and not imagining it. Truly need book 3 my heart is torn
Book flew by almost too quick to have an opinion. Corvina is overloaded with an information dump early on and it changes the trajectory of her whole school journey. She may be a foster child but turns out she’s also the daughter of the two warring kingdoms and the heir to both thrones. Her bff/sister is missing for much of the book and it’s almost too clear who has her and why. Of course no one sees through this until the end when of course the proverbial shit hits the fan. On the good side Corvina now has some awesome wings and finally has all her guys/harem around her. Ready for the final showdown!
I enjoyed this. I really liked the setting and the characters, especially Corvina. I was a bit disappointed that the relationships other than with Pitch weren't really discussed. It was strange. Their interest in each other obvious and a few kisses then they were "her guys". No discussion of feelings or intentions. Since that is something I crave, it felt like something was missing. The ending has a terrible cliffhanger but it won't be long before book 3 comes out.
Gah! This book was...in this awesome 2nd installment we find out more about Corvina's background and the secrets kept from her. We learn about the guys and Corvina openly claims them all. We also learn about Corvina's biological parents and they are not whom they seem at all. The twists in this story are so good and man do they keep you on the edge of your seat! That ending though - that ending broke my heart cause of some of the truths revealed, made my heart soar cause we finally meet the owl and wow! And made me wonder is it the truth or are there unexpected twists?? So, so, so worth reading!!!
This was just the perfect middle story to get you hooked. I loved how Vina and Pitch mated, that was beautiful. I was in shock when her father died. Oh and love the fact that Izora come into the story at the end!!!.
The execution of the second book was much more worse than the first. The amount of plot holes/gaps/jumps was too much for me to manage through. Her harem MMCs were also starting to grate my nerves and we still weren't getting any relationship building with them.
I have the same complaints for this book as I had of the first. The story is good and has so much potential, but everything is so rushed, jumbled, and lacking in substance that the book feels more like an outline than an actual full story. There is no depth of character, no development of relationships, very little description, reading it just got frustrating because it could have been something really special
Holy cow Vina and her men can't get a freaking break. This plot just got 1000 times more thick and I'm loving it. All the feels for sure that ending blew my mind.
Started amazingly great, but we hit a wall at some point. Not sure if it was due to me taking a day off reading but when I got back to the story on chapter 13, it was not going as smoothly as it once was.
The story was flowing smoothly and all the characters fit like a puzzle piece in the story. Come chapter 13 and the pieces were not fitting in as seamless as they once were. The story started to feel very rushed. It seemed as if the author was trying to get Vina and her harem acquainted before the book reached it's end. Some relationships were not fully matured or developed and out of left field 'love' was being thrown around. Now I know this is now the second book and there was some buildup before with the relationships, but it was too soon for some...'confessions?' It just did not feel right and missed the mark. It started to become hard to get back into the story. I had to stop and reread just to make sure it was not my reading, but the story itself. Honestly, I have read plenty of instant-love stories and the buildup in those short stories were much better than whatever ended up happening in this book. Then comes a new player into the game and, although she had some kind of connection to them in the past, she suddenly feels there is more than friendship. Um...she had never seen their face before. And after learning the truth it's suddenly, 'my guys can't get along.' Now everyone wants to act like adding this new person is normal and don't bat another eye at it.
Hm, I just don't know. I am conflicted right now. The cliffhanger is probably what helped me not lose complete interest. Don't get me wrong, the story was so good from the start. It hooks you and reels you in. So much action and mystery. But when the story stops blending well together, it's not always a good thing. Thankfully, since a 5 star review was what I had in mind before chapter 13, I only lowered it down one star. It was just those issues that I could not overcome that cost this book a higher rating from me.
Now, aside from the cons, this book was good. The story was just as intriguing. And the whole not knowing who is the good guy or who is the bad guy made it so much better. It's amazing when an author can throw off their readers. Surprises are sometimes very welcome! And for that...I am moving on to the next book! ...Plus there is the fact that the ending of this second book was harsh. I did not see that play out in that way...
Eh, I didn’t rate this because I didn’t finish it, stopped at 40%.
At 40% in this 2nd book, I feel like I’m just reading a fantasy novel about the MC, Corvina. And while her life story and journey are interesting, I wanted to read a romance story that’s also a RH. There’s almost no, 0, romance or hardly any building of “romantic” relationships between her the men you think will be in her RH. At 40% in this 2nd book, 3 of the men, she’s only kissed once, and that was in the last book.
The 4th guy, her soul mate, Pitch, he’s the only male character that’s had a main part so far in this 2nd book, and none of it has anything to do with building a romance with Corvina. He’s just there for her while she meets her parents basically. I feel no love growing between the characters, no sexual tension, no “sexual or romantic” between her and the men, and no relationship growing or much interaction between the male characters themselves and so on. The main story and plot are solely based on Corvina and going to school, learning who she really is, and her best friend Sage has a more of a story line than any romance or RH story. I don’t see how this story line will bring her and 4 men together still at 40% in.
So this wasn’t for me or what I was looking for. However if you want to read a fantasy story, rated G up to 40% of the 2nd book, that might somehow at some point turn into a RH, then you might like this.
Fae may rule The Enchanted Forest, but the Shadowborn do not remain in the dark.
We pick up book two of this series with a dark origin prologue, then we are on to chapter one and where we left off.
Our FMC Corvina awakens in the kingdom of her father, the Light Fae King of Helios. She has been healed by her father’s powerful light magic. King Ulric’s court is beautiful but not all that glitters is golden.
We meet more characters within this kingdom including Corvina’s half sister, Eva, who will play an integral part in the story.
We get a more detailed look into the harem and the connections that each of the males has with Corvina. Their character development is moved along nicely so we get a better idea of who these men in her life are!
We also meet Corvina’s birthmother, the ruler the Dark Fae who sits on the Throne of Luna, Queen Narah.
The world building is again excellent and the story moves along at a leisurely pace. We discover some surprising connections between Pitch and Corvina along the way.
There are a few steamy scenes in this book making it an 18+ read.
