Hadley Hunter’s world is about to get bigger…and maybe not in a good way. When bodies wash up on the Moonstone Bay beach, it’s obvious there’s trouble afoot. Where, though? When her future mother-in-law identifies one of the bodies as belonging to Julian Nichols’ bodyguard, Hadley knows they’re in trouble. Julian Nichols is Miami’s biggest and baddest shifter…and he’s out there, somewhere. On top of that, come to find out, there’s some island gossip regarding Julian. It seems that his mother had an affair with Galen Blackwood’s father right around the time Julian was conceived. Does that mean Hadley’s fiancé has a brother? He doesn’t seem to think so. Hadley isn’t so certain, though. Finding Julian is of paramount importance. There’s just one little problem. The entire island is suddenly surrounded by sharks…and they’re of the aggressive variety. Nobody can get on or off Moonstone Bay. Someone is controlling the sharks and there are shifters lost at sea. What can they possibly do? It’s all hands on deck for another zany mystery. This one has teeth, however, and when the truth comes out at the end, nothing will ever be the same again.
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
I love the hints and go retelling of a combined future huge battle. I thoroughly enjoy tales of powerful women. I'm a die hard lesbian and in general don't give 2poops about guys. If a powerful woman choses a man I feel it should be because they contribute on all levels. Our woman are attached to police, fbi, mage, phoenix, shifters yet they no longer help physically in a fight; not even to the extent that Amanda used them before. Since they no longer do that I have trouble in context of the story, in believing they're worth keeping around. Strange also that there is room in the story for gay male supporting characters but not lesbian. Despite all this I will continue to buy and read all Amanda's books.
Wow! This may be my favorite series by Amanda M. Lee. I've been patiently waiting, (sort of), for this book and it was well worth it! Dead bodies are washing up on the beach. Business as usual? No, definitely not. Then there are the sharks that are suddenly making it unsafe to go in the water. All kinds of sharks. Hadley is all about sharks... On t.v. In the water in front of the lighthouse; not so much. What's a witch to do? That's what Galen and their friends need to figure out before they are permanently trapped on the island! BaDum baDum baDum! And why does she keep hearing the theme from "Jaws"?
I loved the Moonstone gang in this book. I feel as though this is one of the better Amanda books in a while and I loved the snark and banter that's always been these characters. I think the new character will be a great addition and I can't wait to see more of him. Booker, Lilac, Hadley, Galen, Aurora and Brody don't disappoint in this new installment.
Taken and Hadley are enjoying some quiet moments on the beach with friends when a scream rings out. There are bodies being washed upon the shore, caught in the surf. Taken and others quickly run forward.to drag the bodies to higher ground only to find they are all dead............all nine of them. Galen is convinced a ship has gone down offshore but it's the middle.of the night so theres nothing to be done.till morning. Obviously come.morning Hadley insists on inviting herself along when Taken ages out to sea with Booker by his side, they quickly reach the site of the shipwreck but get a shock when Booker dives on the wreckage, they are immediately surrounded by sharks........of all.different types (including Great Whites) Booker finds himself trapped beneath the water and Taken can't get to him, so it turns out a good thing Hadley came with them after all. Back on dry landreports are coming in from all over of sharks in great numbers totally encircling the Island. What caused the wreck and what is causing the sharks to congregate..........two questions with no answers, obvious or otherwise but it's a situation that needs answers quickly as until the sharks leave the Island is totally cut off from the mainland.........
I know I'm in the minority here, but the more snarking they do - especially about totally unrelated stuff - the more frustrated I get. I don't care how long you've known someone, to still be talking about how you scored with girls in HIGH SCHOOL is just too, too immature for me. This is the only series of A Lee that I still read since (for me) the main characters have gotten less mature, and the plots (and character characteristics) almost copy themselves from series to series. This one and the Freaky Carnival series were sort of hold-outs. Now I'm not so certain. This book improved a bit as it progressed - thus the 3-star. I'm going to have to take another A Lee sabbatical though.
This series is a good read, and always a fun story. I wish that Hadley was written to take the mayor role, more seriously so that she was setting the precedents for the next mayor. That was the premise in the story when she became mayor & yet she doesn’t seem to be doing that, even though at some point in the series, she felt she had no direction. In this story, there were moments she could have been “the mayor “well, questioning the people, but she was sitting quietly in a corner instead. I think that was an opportunity missed for character development.
Well, Hadley's greatest curiosity and fear are alive and well in this one. Sharks! If you've been following this series you know she is obsessed with sharks... and Star Trek, although the latter was only mentioned once.
There's a new resident in Moonstone Bay. I think we will really enjoy the person in future books. Booker may be butt hurt and feel in competition, but it'll all work out because it always does on the island with the friends in charge.
It was cool because mention of characters from some of Lee's other series were included, like Zoe the mage.
First this is one of my favorite series. Thanks to Ms. Amanda M. Lee I haven't I have a list of favorite series as I love her writing style. Back to this series and book. Moonshine Bay and the 6 main characters are always fun to read about as they each have a different look, characteristics and paranormal species. This mystery was kind of 3 intertwined ones. It was run to read with a lot snark, sarcasm and laughing-out-loud moments. A must read but start at the beginning of the series to see how the 6 main characters come to be a group.
Oh my, I ended up staying up into the early morning finishing this book. It was so good. This authors intertwining series is my go to at night. They’re good but usually not on the end enough to keep me up. This one not so much. There was no way for me not to finish the last 100 pages. Do yourself a solid and start her paranormal books by publishing date. The Wicked Witches of the Midwest start the paranormal books but all the series connect so read by published date instead of reading the complete single series. Skip the Avery Shaw Mysteries. They don’t connect.
This was a unique and interesting cozy mystery. I enjoy the characters and the way they interact to solve the problems that arise. This story had some interesting twists and one character seems to have had a complete personality change. There were a few major loose ends that didn’t get explained which is always annoying. We’ll see if the island gets some new residents.
I have loved this series from the very first book. The characters are great, the storyline is always interesting, and I love the humor. If I was asked who my favorite character is in this series, I honestly would not be able to choose just one. I could definitely choose different things I love about each character, but not which one is my favorite. I was very pleased with how this book ended and look forward to seeing where the next book takes things!
This was a joy to read. It blended in everything that has happened so far, coalescing things just the right way, and bring the reader into the next "chapter" of Moonstone Bay. With the carnival coming, I figured there would be some things that would happen to explain how it was going to work. I can picture how this will go, but can't wait for the next book to enjoy the ride. Nicely done!
I really liked this book. It picks up where it should. All the regular cast is back plus a new shifted character is introduced. No spoilers here just be assured it offers a whole bunch of possiblities. Looking forward to the next book. Ms. Lee is an amazing writer.
I love the way her characters develop. The heroines are snarky and smart but not perfect. Perfect is boring and MS Lee's are anything but. The story is fresh, characters are human and humor is wielded like a surgeon. Thank you and please keep the books coming. I am going to reserve the next book right now.
Moonstone Bay is an exceptional place. This island is full of adventures. Actually there's never a dull moment especially when Hadley and her crew are involved. Join in them as they discover and deal with the islands mysteries, solve crimes, and deal with unique problems of the paranormal kind. Great series I highly recommend you start reading!
This was cute, well not all the dead, but it was cute in the end. Secrets have a way of coming out and this one was a huge one. Now they have t wait for the next book to see how the rest of the island and the Miami pack feel about it. Do we get a wedding next? Keeping my fingers crossed. On to the next adventure!!😉💚💙
It’s never a dull moment for the gang at Moonstone Bay and this book is no different. With the addition to the island who may or may not have ties to our gang. Hadley does her thing once again to do away with the invader wanting to cause chaos. Laughs and snark a plenty, this is a must read.
Another mystery to solve in Moonstone Bay. An enchanting tale of shipwrecks, underwater caves and the stress of the upcoming wedding if the date can get set. Just grab a comfy seat and enjoy the banter and chaos that always seems to find Hadley, Galen and the rest of the gang.
I really do look forward to each new book. I love the characters and their personal interactions. The addition of Julian to the story was very fun as it threw a bit of a spanner in the works, but the fallout in the next book should be worth it.
An enjoyable cosy mystery with a magical twist. Lots of humorous sarcastic comments and verbal sparring between the characters. The storyline was fast paced and action packed. A nice easy and entertaining read.
What a wonderful story!!! I love how the characters go after one another just great laughs. I'm not going to spoil it but let's just say I'm happy for Galen. Amanda I love your writing and all your book. Thanks for the laughs!
Fabulous characters, great stories, tropical scenery, and a menace parrot, that refuses to be caught! Amanda M. Lee never fails to bring her A game to every book!
I love the story, which keeps you guessing, but what really makes the book for me is the interaction between the characters. You get to know, care about them, and enjoy the humor that’s so much a part of their interaction. Great read
Book 16 finds the island surrounded by sharks. There is also one very nasty sea witch, a new shifter, and, of course, the usual crew. The heroine is a sassy witch, hot, and full of magic. The hero is a wolf shifter, hot, and the sheriff. Highly entertaining.
So many mysteries, so much effort to discover the answers. So much fun reading to watch it all unfold, twist, turn, then come together. Wish the next book were here already!
Awesome fun and sun adventure for our 4some hero’s
Great action packed adventure with fun, friends and romance from beginning to end. Perfect getaway from reality with our good friends winning and adding a new member towards the end. Can’t wait for the next adventure
Love love love these books I can't wait for the next in the series. Amanda M Lee/ Lily Harper Hart is my fave author her books are really enjoyable and if you enjoy anything paranormal, these are a must read.
Moonstone Bay is really getting interesting and wow what a shocker this book in the series is. I won't spoil it cor you so if you want to know what's going on your going to have to read it yourself. Can't wait to see what is next in store for our Moonstone Bay family.
I can't wait to see how Hadley handles her wedding. If it can happen on the island, it will. I believe. There is going to be a epic battle with Gaylen's mom for sure. I am all here for it.
Amanda this series is fantastic and I hope it never ends. Your character’s are fantastic and well thought out. I can’t wait for the Wedding it’s going to be fantastical, what mayhem will you put them through.
