I have to admit, I’m a bit biased writing this review—I’ve been following Carl Hedin for a few years now and am a big fan of his. Naturally, I was excited to read his book (German edition), and it did not disappoint.
I truly enjoyed his story and appreciated his honesty in a variety of situations. On social media, everything often looks so effortless and perfect, but in this book, Carl shares his thoughts and emotions behind those moments. It was fascinating to read not just about what happened but also about how he felt in those situations.
I loved learning about his journey from childhood onward, and more than once, I found myself thinking, “I did that too!” Even though I’m not a Pferdejunge, the Pferdemädchen in me deeply related to many of his experiences.
I only would have loved a bit more details, a little more insight, and perhaps a few extra pictures. At times, I felt like we were just getting into a moment, and then suddenly, we had already moved on to another stage of his life. But in a way, that’s a sign of a good book—it left me wanting more!
All in all, it was a wonderful read. Thank you, Carl, for allowing us to be part of your journey and for being an excellent example of good horsemanship. Since this book was originally written a few years ago and has only now been published in German, I hope an English edition will follow soon—maybe even one that brings us up to the present.
