Charlie Monroe loves everything about Baxter Tree Farm. From the smell of the pine trees to the shimmer of Christmas lights, Charlie is at home on the farm. Having managed the farm since graduating high school, Charlie considers herself an expert on all things Christmas trees. Her dream is to continue to grow the place she loves so much and make it a must visit place in Maine.
But when the owner dies just before Christmas and leaves half the farm to Charlie, the last thing she expects is the other new owner to be her high school rival. And for her to still look so damn beautiful.
Delaney Baxter doesn’t know the first thing about owning a Christmas tree farm. After living in Florida since college, it has been years since Delaney has seen snow or even bothered to put up a tree for the holidays. She’s reluctant to go back to her hometown to settle her aunt’s affairs. And when she finds out Charlie also inherited half of the farm, Delaney is ready to leave town as soon as possible.
After calling a truce for the holidays, Delaney slowly begins to realize that Charlie isn’t the villain she’d remembered her to be. As for Charlie, she’s wondering why Delaney looks so perfectly at home sitting in the kitchen. Can these two former rivals learn to work together in life and love? Or will their Christmas inheritance tear them further apart?
Delaney and Charlie are extremely happy but there was a time that it wasn’t all roses. Reflecting back Delaney recalls a time when they were young, they met and fell for each other. But Delaney got scared and ended it which did not go well with Charlie. When Charlie gets picked for a team that Delaney worked hard for, Delaney loses it. All the anger she felt for Charlie came out and has stayed with her for years. But they are brought back for a Will reading and when each see the other, both are not happy. This is a telling of Christmas magic that brings Charlie and Delaney plus her 15 year old daughter together. It is upsetting what happens when they are young but it is a sweet retelling of one person who puts them together setting them up for the life they now have. You get a couple of bonus chapters that leaves us wanting more. Great job Addison….
Once again we are taken on a trip to Moonflower Cove were we are introduced to new friends and catch up with old friends. I love how each book is it's own unique story but dovetails into the other books seamlessly. The love story of Charlie and Delaney is a sweet enemies to lovers tale with low angst and a HEA. The characters in the books as well as the town of Moonflower Cove are so well developed that you truly feel like you know them and have been there. I really enjoy this series.
This is perhaps my favorite read of the Christmas season!
Addison Clarke has written a lovely sensitive story filled with memories of hurt and love. It is compassionate and spans many years to learn of how actions of our past can be overcome, how love lost can be found again and new love can be even stronger than before! It is eloquently written, and despite a few typos, just about perfect for the season.
I love this series and cast of characters! I hope there are many more coming in the future!! Addison is such a great story teller!! Please keep Moonflower Cove alive!!
