I fell in love with him when we were kids. He promised me forever when we were teenagers. Months later he leaves me without a care in the world.
One week during senior year was all it took for Colt Street to decide I was no longer what he wanted. Then, just like his brother, Colt took off for the military, leaving the life we longed for, behind.
Ten years later he’s back, changed, and ready to protect me with his life. When I asked for help from the local MC, a favor that was owed, I never thought the Rebels would send my ex-boyfriend as a bodyguard. The second his dark eyes find me, scared and hiding in my closet, those old sparks ignite. Except I’m not the girl he left behind. We’re both not who we once were... and I don’t know if we ever will be.
Colt
Running into Lyric Taylor again was a stroke of luck, a second chance at fate. It also brought back the reality of the situation I put us in all those years ago when we were kids.
I left when my world came crashing down. Instead of letting her know what was going on, I chose to run, and leave her behind, breaking both of our hearts in the worst way possible.
This time I won’t make the same mistake. When my club president asks for help protecting Lyric, I volunteer. When I find her, hiding and scared, I vow to fix everything from our past and earn her trust again. Only she’s different. Lyric isn’t the same girl I left behind. Too bad for her, the woman she is now is everything I crave.
She’s guarded.
I’m broken.
Danger is waiting to tear us apart, and I’m ready to put my life on the line. Whether she accepts it or not, I will always be her warrior.
*This novel was previously released as part of Corinne Michael's, The Salvation Society, and has since undergone major edits and changes to set it apart from the original world it took place in. Lyric and Colt’s love story has been changed and expanded on while also remaining true to the original story.
3.5 stars. Long review coming. This was ok. A little immature at some parts. With some unrealistic situations. Everything was just too perfect for being a MC book. Colt and Lyric start out as friends when she moves to the neighborhood at 10. Colt's brother is KIA after 9/11 happens. Lyric is there always supporting him not acting her age at all which had me rolling my eyes. Anyways, Colt's parents can't function and 2 years after his brother's death his mother commits suicide. His father becomes a shell of his former self and becomes an alcoholic. His parents basically abandon him in their own way. His father is horrible to him. Fast forward and Colt and Lyric begin dating at 16. They are hot and heavy losing their virginity to each other a year later. Which I didn't enjoy reading about. They knew way too much and it was too perfect. And let's be honest no grown woman wants to read about teens doing it. Anyways, Colt is a big football star in his hometown and convinces Lyric to follow him to Alabama to go to college. He's initially going for football, but once he's invited to check it out and practice with the team before he graduates HS, he decides he's not good enough. Colt has a big problem with his self esteem brought on by neglect. This is were it get's immature. He swears his bf not to tell Lyric he's decided not to attend college while he secretly enlists in the army. Keep in mind she still thinks they're going together and has been accepted. He starts to distance himself from Lyric. Their other friend Zane as well. On graduation day he drops the bomb he enlisted and everyone is shocked. Rightfully so. He's supposed to leave for boot camp in two days and dumps Lyric like yesterday's garbage. With the let's take a break. Fast forward a couple of months and he's back from basic training without telling Lyric. In-between the time he's gone they're writing letters to each other, but not much effort from Colt's part. He refuses to tell her where he'll be stationed and even didn't tell her he was back in town. She learns that from their friend Zane. She sees him at a party later that night and he has a girl hanging all over him. She rushes away. He chases her and he again tells her they'll never be together again. She leaves distraught, but next day shows up back at the friend's house because she's not giving up. 🥴 She sees him coming out of a bedroom with just boxers on. Then a girl wearing his t-shirt follows next. She can't believe it, and finally she's done. They go their seperate ways. 10 year's separation...
10 year's later Colt joins a MC that his friend was a part of before he was KIA. The friend's father is VP for this club. Him and Zane are living their best lives, but Colt is still in love with Lyric. Come to find out everyone in the MC knows Lyric as she was the psychologist for the MC president's daughter. I have no idea what happened to her as no details were given. 🤷 Lyric ends up having a stalker. because of course she does 🙄. Colt and her reunite, but she takes some time to warm up to him. About a week 😂. Ends up being her stalker is the ex husband of her friend from college she helped escape from the psycho's clutches. The only way she was able to get away was that conveniently Lyric's rich boyfriend Jordan dies from cancer leaving all his inheritance to Lyric. 🙄 Yeah, I know. But hey! At least she wasn't celibate and was actually in love with this guy. Colt kills the stalker, but get's stabbed himself. Don't worry. He only coded once and lives so he can sweep Lyric off her goody two shoes feet and live HEA in the end.
Safety: No cheating. Only perceived. Colt purposely doesn't correct Lyric's assumption finally pushing her away forever. Which he regrets when he stops feeling sorry for himself and grows a pair. Neither are celibate. He's with a fair few women, but no real details are given. He doesn't sound like a manwhore though. Lyric meets Jordan in college and falls in love until he breaks up with her after his cancer diagnosis.

This is the first book in the Rebels of the Undead MC and its off to a really good start. This book touches of the events of 9/11 and how so many lives were changed because of it.
Colt, Zane and Lyric were friends first and in time Colt and Lyric shared something more. Lyric had every belief that Colt was going to be her forever…until he wasn’t. When Colt and Zane return from the military, they join the Rebels of the Undead MC. Colt had no idea that he would be protecting Lyric since she was a part of the club and had a stalker.
This is the first book in this all new series Rebels Of The Undead MC by Ashton Brook and I loved it! Colt and Lyrics story was so emotionally heartbreakingly good I cried so hard through the first couple chapters I am usually not a crier but jeezus I felt Lyrics pain her heart ache and even Colts with his big brother man alls I’m going to say was I did not expect this story to touch me so deeply. The authors writing is poignant , and thought provoking with richly fleshed out characters its edgy and gripping plot grabbed ahold of me and wouldn’t let go till the end ! Ok no more from me just read this book trust me! Warrior is easily going down as my favorite read of 2025 and I can’t wait to see what comes next I hope we get more from this MC world it’s absolutely fascinating thrilling and I’m hooked!
I wanted to chuck this book at the wall for the first 35%. It was deeply saddening and then deeply enraging.
And then thank god these two had a second chance encounter and a HEA. Because phew.
Colt x Lyric 💕 Love a military man MC romance Second chance Childhood friends High school sweethearts Heartache & trauma & grief Romantic suspense Forced proximity Groveling
This was a page turner. I was genuinely invested. I just wanted more 🤣
"We have a history. And if I have anything to say about it, a future too. So if we're friends at all please stop disrespecting her like you did yesterday and today. You have issues with Lyric talk to her like a fucking adult."
"You know, the Lakota have a saying that a warrior isn't someone who fights. A warrior is someone who sacrifices himself for the good of others. I didn't know your brother, but I heard he died protecting innocent people. He was a warrior and a good person. Don't forget that,"
"I know the feeling. It's good to have awareness, although it's mostly just your brain reacting to the fight or flight sensors going off in your brain while the other part is trying to release cortisol to battle that response and reassure you that you are okay."
"No, he didn't. You're safe with me. I won't let anything happen to you. This, your house, it can all be fixed, Lync. You are more important."
I was thrilled to read the first book in the Rebels of the Undead MC series by new to me author, Ashton Brooks, and it did not disappoint. As this MC romance features a tortured hero, a strong heroine, and an intriguing cast of bikers, all woven into a story that entertains, provokes emotion, and captures the reader from start to finish. I devoured it in just a day I loved it and the story line
The relationship between Colt and Lyric started when they were kids, and I really appreciated how the story gave them time to grow and find themselves, even if their reunion wasn't the typical meet-cute. Lyric and Colt's journey is filled with emotion and complexity. Their reunion brings back memories, but they both carry scars from their past. Colt is determined to protect Lyric, but she's not the same girl he left behind, and the stakes are higher than ever.
And with heartbreaking moments, spice, relatable characters, and the exploration of difficult subjects, this was a beautiful read-even if some parts were tough to handle. I couldn't put it down and would happily recommend it, but please be aware that the story addresses the events of 9/11 and the deaths of family and service members, which may be upsetting for some.
The angst and slow burn was absolute perfection! Colt & Lyric's love told a story of redemption, forgiveness and devotion. If you like second chance, suspense or MC romances, you'll love Warrior!

Thank you to the author, Ashton Brooks, and The Author Agency team for this ARC opportunity.
In the very beginning of the book, Ashton has trigger warning that reads, “the ups and downs of their relationship is depicted throughout and may cause tears, heartbreak, and kindles being thrown, I hope you enjoy the ride” SHE WASN’T FREAKING JOKING!
I very rarely give books a 5 star reading, but this one deserves it plus more. The first half of the book walked you through a brief part of Colt’s childhood where there was heartbreak right away from the replay of the events that took place on 9/11 to his older brother’s death during the war that followed. Then Lyric came into the picture and we got to watch as Colt and Lyric fell in love during their high school years. And when I say their love was everything… it really was. And then Ashton shattered my heart by their breakup and Colt enlisting in the military. The raw pain that Lyric went through during that breakup was devastating.
Then 10 years later, Colt and Lyric were thrown back into each other lives when Lyric’s life was in danger. Watching them rekindle their love for one another while also hashing out the heartbreak they went through was both devastating and beautiful.
BUT THEN ASHTON HAS TO RIP MY HEART OUT AGAIN by Colt getting stabbed and almost dying. I mean, WTF!? Thank God he pulled through and got his happily ever after with Lyric, but my goodness. The rollercoaster of emotions was real throughout this entire book.

This story had me crying so much at the beginning. Who am I kidding I cried a lot during this book. But I also cheered them on, yelled at Colt a lot and called him not so nice words But he deserved it.But then I cried again and then did happy dances. I absolutely love Zane and the things he says. He is just asking for trouble lol.
I'm a military sibling and spouse, so I think that's why I cried a lot because I know some of these feelings lyric and colt deal with.
This was definitely one of my top favorite books. Ashton did a beautiful job with the characters, emotions, plot, and suspense. It never got to the point I skimmed or bored. I was invested in this story. So much that my sleep was non existence.
Warrior is a second chance romance between Colt and Lyric. They had it all figured out before starting college, but one moment that made Colt feel like a failure changed everything. Now, ten years later, Lyric needs protection, and Colt and his mc club will do that. This book has it all, I have fallen hard for both Colt and Lyric. They have this unique bond, and even being out of each other’s loves for all those years, that bond is still there, the love is still there.
This was a beautifully written second chance story. Colt went through such heartbreak within his family and his mind.. He hurt Lyric in an awful way. In a way, it forced her to become the independent strong woman she did become but what a heartbreaking start to a book. Them coming back together in an unexpected way was so beautiful. This was such a enjoyable read.
This is the first novel in the Rebels of the Undead MC series, and it came out the gate packed with emotions blazing.
The novel starts in a moment of heaviness as it opens on 9/11, and the heaviness continues as the story progresses.
Lyric, Colt, and Zane have been best friends since they were 8. Lryic and Colt fell in love when they were 16 and when they turned 18 and have mapped out their futures. Colt up and undoes everything without a single word to Lyric until they day the graduate.
Now 10 years later, Lyric finds herself in need of protection, offered by the MC that she helped, and as fate would have it, Colt shows up.
10 years later, and these 2 are now forced to confront their past demons in order to keep Lyric safe.
The development of these 2 was great. I kind of wish Lyric held out longer though. It felt like she forgave to quickly, but that is just me, namely because I wanted to read more of them. Colt redeemed himself for his past transgressions and then showed up every day to prove to Lyric that he was not the boy that walked away; rather, he was a man who realized what he gave up when he did walk away.
When the Spice hits, it is very clear Colt has gone from boy to man! Because WOW!
Really the only reason I gave this a 4 was because I felt like the storyline was rushed a bit. I absolutely would have read 100 more pages of this story. I would have loved to see the rekindling of Zane and Lyric's friendship; they have known each other since they were 8, and I feel like this did not get the story it needed.
I cannot wait for the rest of the series, though!
Thank you, A.M. Brooks and The Author Agency for the ARC in return for an honest review
As a huge fan of MC romances, I was thrilled to read the first book in the Rebels of the Undead MC series by new to me author, Ashton Brooks, and it did not disappoint. As this MC romance features a tortured hero, a strong heroine, and an intriguing cast of bikers, all woven into a story that entertains, provokes emotion, and captures the reader from start to finish. I devoured it in just a few hours; it was that good.
As the story follows Colt Street, who, at eight years old, witnesses the horror of 9/11. When he returns home from school, he learns that his eighteen-year-old brother and best friend, Alex, has joined the Marines—only to come back home in a casket. This moment leaves a profound and lasting impact on his family and on Colt himself, who also falls in love with his next-door neighbor, Lyric.
But tragedy strikes the family again, and by the time Colt reaches eighteen, he has endured unimaginable hardships. However, he has two constants in his life: Lyric and his best friend Zane. And Lyric dreams of attending college in Alabama with Colt and building a life together. But when Colt breaks her heart for reasons revealed throughout the story, he and Zane enlist in the military. Where they witness horrors and lose friends, returning home as changed men.
Which leads them to join the Rebels of the Undead, where Colt and Zane are reunited ten years later with Lyric, who finds herself turning to the motorcycle club when her life is threatened. And as secrets are uncovered painful truths come to light. But the question remains: Is it enough to bring Colt and Lyric back together, or has too much happened in the past for them to have a future?
And with heartbreaking moments, spice, relatable characters, and the exploration of difficult subjects, this was a beautiful read—even if some parts were tough to handle. I couldn’t put it down and would happily recommend it, but please be aware that the story addresses the events of 9/11 and the deaths of family and service members, which may be upsetting for some.
My thanks to The Author Agency for my copy of Warrior. ☺️
Love, Love, Love, Love LOVED. Not gonna lie I was a little grumpy at the beginning, but Colt (and Zane) definitely earned my forgiveness. I loved how this started off with their childhood friendship and Colt going thru the heartbreak of his brother and mother. The events of 9/11. High school. Him trying to figure out where he fits and is called to be doing with his future. Watching him have a chance meeting with the Rebels because of a fallen soldier and his final wishes. His (and Zane's) standoffishness to the club and the lifestyle at first but then completely fitting right in and finding a family and sense of belonging neither of them had felt before was written perfectly. He was definitely a kick ass, take names and ask questions later type of man. And the way you could see the final piece of his heart, and life, click back into place the minute Lyric is back within his grasp Lyric...man, this girl. Not only did she have her world shattered by Colt just up and leaving right after graduation, she also lost another best friend in Zane. I didn't blame her at all for the demolition of everything that represented her relationship with Colt. I probably would have involved fire after the axe But, watching her grow from that pissed off 18 year old, going thru her freshman year of college and finding a way to rebuild herself, fall in love again and make a name in her profession...she definitely had the character growth. The second chance was spot on. The redemption arc and character growth were fantastic. They both grew a part from each other and carved a path out for themselves. And the universe definitely believed they should be back together. Maturing on their own made their relationship work better together later on. Colt definitely earned my forgiveness by being the overbearing, alpha protective mc. I'm excited to add this club to my motorcycle list. Interested in reading the rest of their stories and I really want to know how Lyric came into the president's life with one of his twins and the relationship with Ari. I have a feeling this is going to be another fantastic ride with the found family and suspense aspect.
Right from the start, Colt and Lyric captured my attention, found a place in my heart and drew me into their story. My heart melted for the grieving young boy, the seemingly self-assured teenager who confessed his love for Lyric, and then the confused and hurting eighteen year old who thought he wasn’t good enough for the love of his life. I’ll admit that I cried for both Lyric and Colt as he pushed her away and out of his life. Thankfully, the Fates smiled upon them and brought them back together after a decade apart. A decade in which they failed to forget each other, held onto the pain of their parting and moved forward as best they could with a broken heart and shattered dreams. Though both have found a calling and a place to belong, seeing each other again started the healing process. Oh, Lyric still kept the guards up around her heart, and rightfully so after the devastation he caused. Still the connection was still there, in need of repairs and some TLC, but still there nevertheless. Forced proximity gives them plenty of time to give voice to their pain, regrets and guilt. It also gives them time to see each other as they are now, to form a new and stronger bond, and to allow their super hot chemistry to take control, leading to some very steamy sessions in each other’s arms. With danger lurking, Colt is determined to use the skills he gained in the military to protect the only woman to claim his heart. With the members of the Rebels Of The Undead MC supporting them both, they plan to find Lyric’s stalker and put a stop to his rein of terror.
This epic love story is one that will be impossible to forget. Both Lyric and Colt are fascinating and so lovable, flaws, quirks and all. Sometimes love is easy and sweet. Sometimes love is hard and painful. Lyric and Colt have experienced it all and finally get their happily ever after. I wholeheartedly, one thousand percent, recommend this extra special and memorable book.
These two characters and their broken teenage love leading to a second chance was a brisk and highly enjoyable read. We have the "past" when we see how the sweet Colt ended up leaving Lyric and then the present, which is 10 years later.
Colt is a golden boy of football but has a tough father, he feels he doesn't measure up to expectations and decides for a reset and enlists with his buddy. The break in his and Lyric's relationship and slight "miscommunication " in how he just doesnt tell her his decision for 2 months and why, was a bit of a hurdle for me to accept but i liked the "present" storyline a lot so i gave it grace.
When he comes back, he finds a found family with an MC. And he finds himself in close proximity as a protector of his old flame since she has a sta1ker (and she's the doctor for the MC so she gets protection as such).
I really liked how there was time taken with how they actually talk through how they are different people now. By living with Colt, Lyric comes to see this new man he's become; mature, even hotter lol, and wiser. He recognizes that he made a horrible decision and will fight for her tooth and nail to win her love and trust back. He was extremely genuine and a sweetheart.
I would've liked to have seen this book longer though to help build more moments of angst and revelations about little ways they've grown but also little ways maybe that they still see their old selves together. There's 2 weeks mentioned that we skipped and that seemed like the perfect place to have more one on one moments for them of discovery.
But overall this is more focused on the romance and is a quick read with two lovely people that learn to reconnect after the mistakes of youth. Forgiveness and finding that timing was just right the second time around!
I loved this! It wasn’t your typical romance book IMO.
Basically about 3 kids that grow up together. Colt and Lyric are the MC’s. They were friends for years before they started anything more at 16. Colt did not have a great home life. He lost a brother overseas. His mother shortly after. His dad became a drunk and was terrible to him. But Colt always stayed on track. His goal was to go play football for Bama after graduating HS and Lyric committed to following him and going to school there also so they could be together.
His Bama visit wasn’t what he expected and he handled the outcome terribly. He enlisted hours after running out of his visit out of fear. Things went very bad and fast for him and Lyric. Which left her heartbroken and alone.
Fast forward 8 years later he’s back in town for one of his best friend’s funeral that he was serving with. Colt becomes pretty close with the family of his best friend that he just lost and became a member of their motorcycle club after requesting for discharged from the military.
2 years later, after being inducted into the club he gets put on a job to help rescue “The Doc” from a stalker she cannot get rid of, but little did he know when walking into this job that he would be rescuing Lyric the love of his life! The girl he broke and completely destroyed! 💔
Their story was heartbreaking and beautiful. The growth from young kids to well into their adult lives. Colt grovels and grovels hard for another chance with Lyric. He is devoted to earn her trust and forgiveness!
I loved them and their story! I wish we could have seen more of their life after everything was said and done. Hopefully the author will give us more of them down the road. I’d love to see them married and with kids ❤️🥹
Colt and Lyric have known each other since they were young and had feeling for each other. Only a couple of years later Colt leaves for the military and completely breaks her heart.? Colt returns years later and finds his family within the rebels of the unread mc and this is where he finds Lyric again, only this time he needs to protect her and he will do everything he can to make sure she's safe.
The difference is this time Colt and Lyric are now different people who have changed so much after everything they've been through.
These characters go through so much and it's so raw but you won't be able to take your eyes off the page. They have such a strong bond that's only got stronger over time. They have great chemistry and the love between them both has always been there. Reading about these characters the author brought them to life so good and the story is so powerful I was totally captivated until the very end. This is a story of real loss, second chances and healing.
This storyline flows throughout and has suspense, angst, drama and twists you won't see coming. The story will have your emotions all over the place and you'll feel all these guys go through. This book broke my heart and pieced it back together gently. I absolutely love how this author writes and her style is absolutely awesome.
🚫Please check trigger as this story touches on some real heavy subjects🚫
I am becoming a huge fan of this author and her writing style. I absolutely loved Rivals and this book was just as fantastic. The emotional pull I felt between these characters drew me. I loved the chemistry and connection between Lyric and Colt. It was so evident that the two them of them held a soul deep connection. I loved watching their love unfold while they were in high school. It was sweet and innocent as their friendship grew from friends into something so much more.
And when Colt breaks her heart, he broke my heart. I knew what was coming but I still wasn't prepared for how everything would unfold. My heart shattered for him when he had his moment shattered in Alabama. He had thought he knew what life would bring his way but that one moment of failure would break so many hearts. That moment was such an emotional rollercoaster that I couldn't help but feel the loss and heartbreak that Lyric is feeling.
And once they're finally united, I loved how he showed his love and earned his forgiveness. Despite years apart, it was clear from those around that they were meant to be together. The danger that Lyric is in was intimidating but I loved that it gave Colt the reason to be back in her life. I just loved this story and the emotions that Ashton brings out with her writing.
✨ Ashton did not disappoint with this book! 📖💙 I fell in love with the characters from the very beginning, just like I did with Rivals—but this story is completely different, and it hit deep. I laughed, I cried, and I felt every ounce of pain, love, and celebration right alongside them. 😭❤️
📍This book opens heavy—with the tragic events of September 11th. For many, that day changed everything. Some clung to their loved ones, while others chose to serve and protect our country. That’s exactly what happens here. The MMC’s brother and friends enlist in the military after the attacks, and while he builds a strong bond with his brother, tragedy strikes—his brother doesn’t make it home. 💔 The loss is devastating, and Colt’s family is shattered, especially his mother, who loses her own battle with grief. Over the years, Colt is blamed by his father, told he’s not enough, that the wrong son was taken. 😢
💫 But through it all, two constants remain—his best friend Zane and the “girl next door,” Lyric. Colt and Lyric dream of Alabama after high school… until his football dreams are crushed. In a heartbreaking decision, Colt follows in his brother’s footsteps and enlists—without telling Lyric.
⏳ Years later, fate brings them back together. Unknowingly, they both join the same MC, and it’s clear—the love never faded. 💕 Despite the broken trust, the pain of losing him, and the heartbreak, Lyric never stopped loving Colt. Their journey is raw, emotional, and beautifully written.
🔥 This book will wreck you in the best way! A story of love, loss, second chances, and healing. Don’t sleep on this one!
I loved that the story went in depth at the beginning when Colt and Lyric are in high school. My heart broke for Lyric when Colt broke her heart by becoming distant and then just leaving after getting her to agree to follow him to Alabama. I just don't understand why Colt would change his mind so drastically and I wanted to give him a swift kick! But I was glad that Colt got the chance to redeem himself even though it was ten years later. This book had my emotions all over the place ... I was sad, happy, mad and don't even get me started on the steamy parts! This is a great start to a new series and I sure hope that Zane's book is next.
Colt and Lyric were high school sweethearts and they planned on going to college in Alabama together. But Colt had a change of heart and joined the Army instead leaving Lyric heartbroken. Ten years pass until they meet again ... but they are both very different people than they were before. Colt is in a motorcycle club, Lyric is a doctor on the run and Colt is assigned to protect her when she feels she's being stalked.
Wow. Colt & Lyric’s story was so sweet but sad. So very sad.
It starts with flashbacks to when Colt was very young g, idolizing his big brother. But when 9/11 happens, his big brother enlists & it changes the trajectory of his life m, despite him not knowing it yet. Everything seemed to be okay but 2 years later tragedy strikes his family & they are left reeling.
The loss of his brother devastated his family & changed his life. But that day he found hope in a new friend, Lyric.
Flash forward to when they’re 16 & these two take their friendship to a whole new level. For 2 years after that it seemed like they were going to be a forever deal. But when he goes off to a college to scout for football & he realizes he may not be cut out for it, he makes a sudden choice to enlist with their best friend Zane.
Shortly after Colt comes back from basic training, he breaks up with her. She is absolutely devastated & that act changes her life.
Jump to the present & Colt has found his family within the Rebels of the Undead MC but a new task puts him back in the path of Lyric. Now having to protect her, it becomes unbearable avoiding the past. He makes it his mission to apologize to her & prove that he wants that future with her.
They have their ups & downs & they both had to do some deep soul searching to find the problems to fix from their past relationship whether it be fixing the trust he broke or healing his own demons so he can realize he is good enough for her, they had some work to do.
Overall, this was a heartbreaking story of young love put through so many obstacles. Having to fight past demons & atone for the wrongs they did. I found myself in the verge of tears witnessing Lyric deal with the aftermath of the breakup.
It was sweet but sad but that happy ending really nailed it for me. I would love to see more of them & their future.
Colt & Lyric: triggers- military, stalking, domestic abuse, cancer, assault, drugs child abandonment, alcohol abuse. really good story. high school football star had plans of going pro after college but when he chokes his chances during a school visit, he makes a choice that will not only effect his life but the life he planned with his girlfriend. now adults 10 years later, she's in trouble and needs help. requesting assistance from the local MC causes her to run into her ex boyfriend from high school but she's not the same girl who loved him. this book had me in all of my feelings. I really felt for the first half of the book because I went through that before so the tears were readily available. the story is smartly written. it's steamy with a little bit of action. I only wished there was more MC presence within the story. it seemed as though the author focused more on the character's backstory when they were apart more than when they were together. but still a good book.
Grab your tissues because this one will really hit you in your feels! Such great story telling of a second chance romance!
Warrior is a second chance, motorcycle club, childhood friends to lovers that is so amazing! I read this story before when it was in the Salvation Society and loved it, but to me the changes and expanding parts that were made, it made the story that much better! I am blown away how Ashton Brooks wrote such a beautiful story for Lyric and Colt. There was drama, there was emotion, and it had a bit of spice to it. I love Colt and Lyric and the personalities they portray. I love the motorcycle club aspect of this story too. It really brought depth and there are a lot of fun/interesting characters. I can’t wait for more in this world.
There are definitely characters I’m hoping get a book! I definitely recommend this book for all to read!
This is the first in a new series and this is Lyric and Colt’s journey. These two have loved each other since childhood, until Colt leaves to join the military breaking both their hearts. Now 10-years later Colt is back, and when lyric calls in a favor and asks the MC for help, Colt volunteers to become her bodyguard. Neither Colt of Lyric are like the people they used to be, but can they heal each other? This is a well written action packed, emotional roller coaster, with family, friendships, heartbreak, danger, suspense, intrigue, drama, engaging and relatable characters, childhood friends / lovers, romance, second chances, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and unpredictable addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Colt and Lyric made me cry— (and I NEVER cry in books)! Their heartbreak became my mine. It’s exactly what I want to read in a second chance romance. The angst and slow burn was absolute perfection! Thank you SO much for the ARC! It was a joy to read!
Wow what a heart pounding story this was. I was engrossed in this book from page one till the last page. If you like a heart wrenching love story then Colt and Lyric's story is for you. In this book you have high school sweethearts, a heart wrenching breakup, heartbreak, suspense, loyalty and found love. This author is good at tearing your heart out but then piecing it back together again better then before. I loved Colt and Lyrics story even if I wanted to wring Colt's neck for the first part of the book. In my mind he didn't grovel enough. But he definitely made up for it. I highly recommend this book and absolutely looking forward to the future stories.
Decent quick read! Would read more from this author and/or series.
3.4/5 - good storyline. I liked the 2 main character, Lyric and Colt.
No major issues with this book. The reason I didn’t give it a higher marking is it was maybe missing some ‘umph’..? But not in the normal way.
I liked that Colt realized he messed up and decided from the jump he was going to get Lyric back. She didn’t make him grovel and was understanding. I felt like their feelings were very valid and not over dramatized.
I love mc books. They are a weakness of mine. This was a good one. It moved pretty fast, but I felt a decent connection with the characters. I liked the storyline. It was a solid 3 star read. You have betrayal by MMC and you have a fmc that doesn’t sit around alone waiting for him. I love when the fmc actually moves on to a point. This had that. It was very relationship focused and the other plot points were kind of background filler.
This was such an emotional story. It was filled with so much grief & heartbreak. Colt was such a sweet boy, who went through so much loss. This story of his struggles with loss, grief, pain & loneliness was beautifully devastating. I love the connection between Colt & Lyric, they have such a special connection. This book will have you all in your feels. There is love, spice, loss, danger, darkness, hope & forgiveness.
Warrior was an excellent book. I couldn’t seem to put it down. I have been having a hard time finding books that interest me lately and keep my attention and this book did just that. Colt and Lyric’s dynamic was palpable. I was tearing up at parts while laughing at others. I cannot wait to read the next book in the Rebels of the Undead MC series.
Book one in the Rebels of the Undead MC series. Colt and lyric are high school sweethearts. Just before graduation he turns their world around and says lake away. Heartbroken and left behind she tries to move on with her life. Years past and she needs help and she goes to a MC for help. Colt hates what he did to her but he moves on. When a buddy dies he goes home to pay his respects. He falls for the Club life. Family, loyalty and brotherhood. When they meet again he knows this is his second cave with lyric. This time around he won’t walk away from her. This time he will I’ll fight till death for her.
