Me For You

Rate this book
All of Halle Cooper and Cade Walsh’s friends know they belong together. Truthfully, they’ve always believed it too, but won’t admit it to each other.

It was finally going to happen back in high school. Halle finally came to terms with the fact that her best friend Mel and her older brother Abbott hid their relationship from her. Cade’s not-so-secret desire to date Halle finally attracted the help of the golden couple, sparking the ultimate string-pulling Get-Halle-To-Fall-In-Love-With-Cade. No matter how many strings they’ve pulled, it’s never been more than a bunch of “almosts”.

Now—three years later—their lives look different from anything they ever imagined. While Mel and Abbott are living a typical college life, Cade and Halle are trying to find success in Seattle’s independent music scene. Halle’s love for design and creating helped land her the gig of merch designer for Cade’s band, Tryhard.

They each have different ways of keeping their feelings hidden from the Cade bites his tongue and doesn’t say what he wholly feels and Halle runs away to pretend the feelings don’t exist at all. It’s almost cyclical—a push and pull of mixed signals—effortlessly flirty banter, dating other people as a distraction, and too many stolen glances to count. His charm has a hold on her like no other, but insecurities and past hurts keep getting in Halle’s way, stopping her from going all-in on a relationship with Cade.

When the old flame is sparked what will it take to keep it burning instead of being blown out over and over again?

꒰ 🎸꒱ 𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐭 - this book follows halle and cade, cade is a musician and halle creates the merch for his band. they've been friends for years and dated a few years ago in highschool but it didn't work out. cade has been in love with halle forever, he's been wanting to be with her but was always to scared/nervous to try again. he doesn't think she feels the same way, they've always had a flirty mood around them. cade's dated so many girls in the past few years and halle doesn't think cade would be into her- all the girl's that he dates are nothing like her. not going to say too much since it'll probably spoil it but i love love love this book and i'll probably buy a physical copy soon!!!

guys omg I devoured this book in like a day. I started it thinking it'll be a fun-ish read at most but I didn't think I was going to LOVE it and get obsessed with her characters?!!! likeee ugh I'm not going to ever get enough of this,if there's ever more books with these characters or their friends I will be first in line waiting for it. and can we take a moment to appreciate how clean this book was?? like it's so perfect for christians and those looking for a clean read. I don't think they even swore once like no f-bomb (i'll double check tho) and no inneduo or dirty jokes, no mentioning sex or the bedroom like this is better than a ya romcom. most ya books have swearing and etc. like guys go read this. like 1000% recommend this, I can't stop thinking about it

────୨ৎ────

꒰ 💌 ꒱ 𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞 - guys i love her and she was really sweet, she wasn't sure about her future but wanted to help the band and stay with them. she has avoidment issues and her song would definitely be the bolter. anyways I just loved how sweet and caring she was, she was super insecure at times but I would actually do the same thing soo...

I loved her nickname "valentine" it was kinda silly but made sense for the story <333

the time she saw beau's sister on the couch in the garage and immediately freaked out and thought it was cade's new girlfriend made me so annoyed tho. like wdym your just leaving and not even asking the guy you're hanging out with WHO it was and just like being pissed. I felt bad for cade since she literally left him while he was supposed to go on tour like that's actually so sad. when they finally made up she decides they should JUST be FRIENDS?!!! like HUHHHHH who does that. it's giving avoidant issues (#mecore) I liked her character growth overall but she got mad over small things and her feeling betrayed was dumb - like girl did the SAME thing but with her bsf soo wvtrrr

I did love her a lot so excuse the complaining I did - it was important to the plot and etc... like learning to let people in and trust them ykyk

꒰ 🎤 ꒱ 𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞 - guys I love him so so much. he was such a relatable character and had anxiety. he never cheated and did anything crazy/dumb. he was obsessed with her from day 1 and dated other girls to get over the pain of not being with her. I loved her and abott's relationship (idk how to spell that) and that like he approved of him & his sister like (the brother approving of them) and literally setting them up SO SO CUTE. like matchmaking when it's not forced or like their both into one another is adorable. like the post cards he sent when she went on the spring break - when she was supposed to go on tour with him :(( anyways his confessions were EVERYTHING and he has such a beautiful way with words. like his songs that he dedicated for her ughhhhh like distract me? and all of them were so pure and innocent- he didn't think about her in that way and it was so refreshing to read about that.

1000% recommend and like I might have to change the rating to 5, bc I can't stop thinking about it. if you're looking for a cute ya romance with 1D/boy band refs this is perfect and also those looking for a clean read and want something that's different and new. it's definitely perfect for valentine's day. it's not like usual cheesy romcoms but valentine's day is a major part of this. please go read thisss

Arc Review - Thank you to LoveNote PR and the authors for the free copy.

3.5 rounded up to 4

"He’s like Leonardo DiCaprio, but instead of an age limit, there’s a duration limit."

I was really craving a rockstar romance, and this book came at just the right time for me. It was a fun and easy read!

I did feel a little disappointed that we start the book with the characters (kind of) getting together, only to have a three-year time skip where they’re suddenly apart and hiding their feelings from each other. This shift made it harder for me to fully connect with their relationship, which influenced my 3–3.5 star rating.

That said, I really enjoyed the characters' love and passion for music was so well done! The author's writing style was engaging, and I have to say, the playlist was great too

The romance itself was fun, but I struggled with the heavy reliance on the miscommunication/misunderstanding trope. It didn’t always feel natural, and I kept wondering, Why aren’t you two just together? That being said, the overall vibe of the book—the rockstar lifestyle, the supporting characters, and the chemistry between the leads—kept me entertained. I liked Cade's POV the most and didn't really care much about Halle's. He's really crazy about her and I feel like the author did a better job at writing the pining from his POV. He's very sweet and I liked to read about his love for music and for Halle.

Even though I didn’t love how some plot points were handled, I still enjoyed reading about their journey. With a few tweaks, I think their reasons for staying apart could have felt more convincing, but in the end, it was an engaging read that I had fun with!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was the perfect, happy-go-lucky yet still emotionally vulnerable read that I needed to cleanse my romantasy palate. Truly, as a music lover and current boy band hyperfixator (if that’s even a word), this book was lovely. Easy going, fun, atmospheric. It felt like I was a part of their friend group. So much love, so many laughs. I used to be stingy with my 5 star ratings, but these days, if a book manages to distract me from the world in shambles to where I’m still riding the high after the book is over, it rightfully earns the highest rating.

Thank you to Love Notes PR and Same Way Books for letting me have an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book was a blast and I’ll be recommending it to everyone that even vaguely enjoys friend group stories, pining, and rockstar/band romances! 🥰

Huge thank you to Love Notes PR & Same Way Books for an opportunity to read & review an advanced copy of this book!

I loved the simplicity of this book. I liked that there were no huge plot twists or big scary reveals that distracted from the romance. I loved that it was so innocent — absolutely packed with flirty banter that never crossed the line into overly lustful. It can be so difficult to find romance novels that have this innocent and sweet love. The ending of the book was a very perfect bow on a very neat and adorable box. I truly did enjoy it.

I enjoyed the One Direction (and other lovely band!) references. The band being named Tryhard made my 5sos loving heart so happy. It also made it much easier to connect with the characters as people, because they shared interests with me. Cade & Halle's interests and personalities complimented each other really well and I could feel that in the writing. As friends, their relationship felt and read strong. I fell in love with them as best friends. Mel and Abbott (fantastic name choices) also brought so much to the table — is there anything better than a best friend who will help your crush fall in love with you? I could go on and on about this, but moral of the story: the group of four friends was fantastic and I loved that it felt real.

The one critique I have: I just didn't really feel the actual romantic chemistry between the two characters. We don't get much backstory before the party on Valentine's day (at the start of the book) so you're almost thrown right into a pre-established intimate relationship. I could tell from the dialogue and actions that there were some deep feelings between them, but it was hard to feel like it was real because I felt like we were missing so much of the backstory. I really think it would have enhanced the story so much to have a glimpse into their relationship pre-Seven Minutes in Heaven as opposed to hearing about it via small mentions later in the book. Like a charcuterie board before Thanksgiving dinner — enhances the experience without taking away from the delicious meal.

All in all, a very enjoyable read. I feel like we lost out on an opportunity for some really good backstory, but the story didn't suffer because of it.

Other 1/2 of the author duo here hehehe this book was SO fun to write! Sharing a brain (and a google doc) with your best friend is a treat unlike any other. This story truly would be nowhere without her (and me, I guess hehehe) never in a million years did I think I’d be writing a fiction novel, but here we are! This is a big labor of love but truly could not be more happy with it and our small 2.14 universe. So, here’s to the fangirls and everyone reading about y/n!! Hopefully you don’t get too tired of the One Direction references hehehe 💿🪩🖤

*ARC read. Thank you to Love Notes PR and to the authors*

Me For You by Sam Louise and Isabela Mar was one of my most anticipated reads of 2025 and it turned out even better than I knew it would.

Halle and Cade are the main characters in this book and I now want a man with curly hair, a nose ring, and who sings me Harry Styles songs. The MCs have a constant pull to each other but in true slow burn fashion, it seems to never quite work out in the long run (but this book has an HEA, don’t worry!)

Me For You is very music heavy and if you are a big One Direction fan, you’ll chuckle at multiple points in this book. I even looked up how to highlight things on my Kindle because I loved some of the 1D quotes so much. It was also a well written book where the story flowed and nothing felt clunky, which showed that these debut co authors were meant to be writers.

As for the plot, I liked the aspect that at some points, Halle was aware that she was being dramatic and childish (what a mood) but it definitely made her more realistic. The journey through Cade’s and Halle’s relationship was fun and a good time was had reading it.

The dedication of this book is for all girls who read y/n stories and well that is exactly the type of story this is. Falling in love with a boy who is in a band and you’re so close to the band that it’s like you’re part of the band. A lot of One Direction mentions and takes you back to 2014.

So this is a clean romance. I do read clean romances but if anything this was one was too clean. Basically I felt like the main characters, Halle and Cade, were lacking chemistry. They felt more like best friends than people who were dating. I’m not asking for overly the top stuff, but it truly felt like they were just great friends. I think “butterflies” were mentioned like once, I don’t know, I had a a hard time believing they liked each other as more than friends.

This story had its moments but the fmc Halle, started to bug me as I read on. In true fashion to those stories of 2014, the dramatic was turned up high. As I read on, the more her dramatics started to bother me. I mean she walks into the garage and sees a girl sitting on the couch and her boyfriend not even interacting with her and she assumes she’s getting played. Then doesn’t talk to him for 2 weeks and cries the whole time and more. Like if they were hugging then like maybe but like she was overly dramatic. Oh, did I mention that’s she known this dude since she was 7. Like shouldn’t she know what kind of person he is.

I felt like I was missing something. This is a second chance romance but it was unclear on why or how they didn’t work the first time. There were other moments like this.

If you’re looking for a book version of the 2014 fan fiction we all read, then this is the book for you. it was just missing something for me.

This book was dedicated to lovers of y/n fanfic and it definitely lived up to that! The romance of Cade & Halle is what all of us boy band fans could want. It truly felt like I was back in my room looking at gif sets and imagines on tumblr! It’s clear a lot of love went into this!

That being said, I did find the timeline shifting a bit jarring. There’s a lot of telling instead of showing that did a bit of disservice to the story. I wish we got to see more tension before the two instead of them both being (secretly) madly in love from the start. The idea of the Pitch and the baseball team dynamics was very interesting to me and I almost wish we got more of that! Overall very cute and I’m curious to see what comes next!

4.25⭐️⭐️⭐️ I absolutely loved this, it was such a cute story and you could really connect with Halle and Cade and their romance. It was friends to lovers which is one of my favourite tropes and I think it was done incredibly, with the romance not being rushed. As it was a romance with the lead as a rockstar, it was so fun seeing different song titles as the names of chapters, and I loved all of the music references throughout (especially the one direction references). For a debut novel I was completely obsessed and can't wait to read more of the authors work. After seeing sneak peaks of Beau and Ruby, I hope they get a book!!! Thank you lovenotespr for the arc.

So tender! One of the authors is a close friend of mine so I’m biased in this cuteness.

This is a very quick and light hearted YA romance, (as they say) for fan girls by fan girls. I was always entertained by the music and band references as well as the song titles for the chapter headers.

I like that Halle is committed to supporting the band’s growth no matter what is going on and that Cade wasn’t a mega-douche, big headed, rocker boy. The story is overall quite wholesome.

Good job Isa and Sam!

First off thank you to the authors for giving me the opportunity to read the arc of this book! I enjoyed this book a lot. I loved the characters and how they were friends first then fell in love with each other over time. I also loved that each chapter name was a song. This book was a slow burn for me but I loved that aspect of it. I actually recommend this book to one of my best friends and she put it on her tbr. I’ll be thinking about this book for some time!

First I want to thank both Sam and Isabela for choosing me to read an advanced copy of their book Me For You! I am forever grateful to have been chosen 🫶🏽 I truly have not been disappointed at all with this book! It’s full of love, laughter, banter, 5SOS and 1D mention of songs that I freaking love and adore! (That’s exactly the way to my heart ❤️)

We get to go on this journey of a friendship since high school between Halle and Cade. Two people who have grown up with each other and little by little realized that they have deep feelings for one another. However, life has a funny way of intercepting their journey. It’s a roller coaster ride that both Cade and Halle are on and don’t know how to get off!!

100000/5 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️ this book truly had me on the edge of my seat!!!! Every page I turned, I held in my breath to know what was going to happen next. I was constantly groaning, clapping, losing it when I was reading the book. This book truly had me on a roller coaster of emotions and it was a never ending ride!

I absolutely loved Halle and Cade’s story 🫶🏽🫶🏽 it truly made my heart remember how true slow burn love stories can be! The way both of these authors took the time to write their love story truly astonishes me. And the way they use songs from some of my favorite artists as chapter names, my heart is swooning 😍😍 I can’t wait to buy the physical copy of this book and annotate till my heart desires. I already have a great idea in how to annotate it !!

I truly liked this book. It was so sweet to witness Halle and Cade going through many lovely moments together and navigating life with their best friends almost always just a couple steps behind them.

It was an amazing idea, to put them all in one huge house and show us how real friendship can sometimes look like. Everything was sweet and cute, holding hands, I must admit that maybe I even enjoyed it much more than some spicy books.

What I didn't like was that the story felt somehow too long, there were constant ups and downs and by the half of the book, I felt like I had enough and just wanted them to have their happy endings.
Halle was a nice girl but her reactions sometimes made me shake my head in disbelief, she is not a teen to act like this and I think she was definitely overreacting A LOT. Also the communication, oh my god, I understand that sometimes the book is about this issue, but if these two just talked to each other honestly, the book would have 50 pages and a happy ending. Towards the end, I was just more and more frustrated.

But still, I liked it, it was written very well and despite these couple of minuses that I mentioned I really enjoyed this romance and even had goosebumps during some scenes. I will definitely read another part of this series.

I loved the environment that was created. It was fun to read and the side characters were pretty cool.

Halle had a way of being. She was shy and a but insecure? I know there would be times where it had me questioning what she was thinking or why certain things had to be this way. She did get upset a few times and in all honesty, it shouldn’t have been that bad, but hey each girl to their own.

Cade has always been in love with Halle and in order to keep it together and not try to remember his feeling towards Her, he goes out. Both are for each other and they just needed that little push to start that flame again.

Oh i loved it all. Both authors did an amazing book.

I’m so excited and thankful to Love Notes PR, Sam Louise, and Isabela Mars for giving me the chance to read an ARC of their new release! Just a heads-up, my review is all my own personal opinion.

If you are looking for a cute, angsty, YA romcom then look no further!
As a girlie that is pretty immersed in the indie music scene in Seattle this was incredibly fun to read.
My second love after books is music especially local Seattle musicians. I was constantly thinking of local bands to add to a playlist for this book-which proves to me how much I loved it!
I feel like I could’ve read a 600 page book about Cade and Halle and still felt like I wanted more. Their story of childhood friends to lovers was so adorable. The reality of growing up and the dynamic of friendships and crushes was portrayed beautifully by these characters.

Thank you to SameWay Books and Love Notes PR for the opportunity to read this arc!!

*ARC REVIEW

This is hard for me to say but I'm going to give it a 3.5 because I CAN'T with Halle.

She's insufferable, childish, and I really dislike her character.
Without her the books is easily a 4.5 but....God, I was this close )( to put it down every time she appears (and being the MFC those are A LOT of times)

I liked the story, is cute and easy to read (Like is really really cute. My dude writes songs about her 🥹 come on 😭), the characters are okay, the plot itself is good....but if I can't get past one of the main characters....

But still I'm asking you to give it a chance because, as I said, is a completely personal opinion about one character.

If you like closed door romance books with roadtrips and cute moments, this one is a good choice 🩶

I received this ARC for my honest opinion. Me For You by Sam Lousie and Isabela Mar is a fun read. I enjoyed the story of Halle and Cade. Halle is the little sister of Abbot whose best friend is Cade. Cade has been in love with Halle for the last 10 years and she never knew it. They did make out and try to be in a relationship when she was in her senior year of high school, and it didn’t pan out. Halle equated it to her not being Cade’s type. Cade was determined to show her that it was the wrong time. He needed to show her he needed her and wanted her. So, the Operation make Halle fall in love with Cade was born. Halle’s best friend Mel, who is Abbott’s girlfriend is helping. In the end Halle and Cade confess they are madly in love with each other and end up getting together. It was a young adult novel and such a cute story. I would recommend reading if you want a tame on passion scenes and are more focused on plot.

ARC Review

This book was pretty cute. I loved the merch designer/band member relationship between the characters. It was such an easy read with some super cute scenes.

There was some banter that had me giggling, but there were also some scenes that didn’t make much sense. In the end I thought the characters seemed perfect for each other just because their communication style fit each other (which was basically not communicating).

Cade was such a sweetie and really down bad for Halle so it just didn’t make sense that they hadn’t made their relationship work before. Halle was super skittish about things moving forward which definitely didn’t help them get together in a normal way. The best part was definitely all the scheming from their friends to get them together.

Thank you Love Notes pr for the ARC!

I was really disappointed with this because I was so excited to read it as someone who loved rockstar romance fan fiction in their youth. It just didn’t really do anything for me. I thought the romance felt forced and Halle and Cade lacked chemistry. Because of the lack in their chemistry the will they / won’t they of the story didn’t serve the plot very well and it felt like there wasn’t much more of an overall plot. Don’t get me wrong, I think they were cute but I feel like I needed more depth to their story overall to make it seem like they’re more than friends. I think with a more thorough history between the two this would have been a better book, rather than something that felt like it was lacking depth and connection.

It was cute. No spice at all. It took forever for the two MCs to get over themselves and communicate. Cade and Halle both love each other and always have but they like to not communicate at all and misinterpret everything the other person says and does. Totally cool for I feel like half a book but it goes for literally 80% of this book. All we ever get is some hand holding, nicknames, kisses, and a few “I love you”s. Was waiting for the big something but it just felt kinda lackluster. If they were in high school I feel like it would’ve worked but these were end of college aged folks who were becoming rockstars so it felt too young/immature of a development. Cute but just meh for me.

I loved getting the opportunity to ARC read this book, it was a wonderful read for me. This was my first time reading a celebrity/rockstar romance so it was definitely new for me but I loved it! The attention to character detail. I've never read a fangirl x rockstar romance before but the chemistry was written very well! This book for me will be a book that I would love to get a physical copy of for my shelves! I thought the roadtrip aspect to the story was also very interesting. Definitely a 5/5 star for me 💓

What happens when two people are meant to be but the universe (or their stubbornness) keeps them apart?

Cade and Halle have been battling their feelings for each other for years. One night and one kiss was supposed to change all that. Only as time went on distance grew. Now three years later they’re back to where they were that fateful night where everything was supposed to change.

Cade our MMC is a rockstar in the making. He’s hardworking, driven and a bit of a serial dater. Dating became a way for Cade to avoid his feelings for Halle. He’s been secretly using her as his muse since his music journey began. His band isn’t fully aware of his history or feelings for Halle. However, her brother and her best friend have been trying to help Cade win her over for years.

Halle our FMC is caring, hardworking and trying to figure out her life. She has been crushing on Cade for as long as she can remember. She and Cade reconnected when she started designing merch for his bad as she started to try to figure out her future. Her best friend and brother have also been trying to help her get with Cade for years. However, something always seems to get in the way.

Cade and Halle’s story is one of yearning, pinning and secret feelings. Some meddling friends and a whole lot of missed chances. They let their love of music speak to each other. It’s cute and is a true coming of age and first love story.

ARC review first thank you Love Notes PR for the arc. The tropes for this book are friends to lovers, rockstar romance, being a Fangirl, mutual pining, found family and brother’s best friend. I didn’t know this book was YA before I got the arc so I was surprised. The mmc and the fmc do act very young and that got on my nerves a bit. The inspiration was very 2010s and I couldn’t really relate to what the characters were going through and I really didn’t feel the romantic connection between them

I enjoyed it! Though some of the book made me mad because of the miscommunication and ups and downs of the book, I love the ending they got finally.

The characters were easy to love and somehow easy to be exasperated with at the same time. Amd some of the lines had me giggling.

If you're looking for a musically inspired contemporary romance read, I'd give it a try. (You might be mad at the characters like I was for a bit 😉)

✨ARC Review✨

I absolutely loved this story. It gave me such Eddie and Chrissy vibes from Stranger Things. The way they both struggled to come to terms with the fact that they were meant to be together, no matter what was going on around them. Loved. It. Also, can we talk about all the One Direction references everywhere? Simply unbeatable. 2013 me would simply be swooning. I ate this up so much. Thank you for such a fun read!!

Cade and Halle have been crushing on each other for years. Three years ago they had their first kiss but then Cade went to college things never progressed. They’ve been dancing around each other ever since. They work closely together- Cade in his band and Halle designing and selling their merch, they live in the same building and they spend all their free time together but will they ever get it together and be more? Can they make the leap from friends to more or are they destined to be stuck in the friend zone forever?

The amount of frustration this book gave me!! They’d get so close then so far again. I think that’s why I loved it so much! It was so realistic with the hesitation and missed opportunities. I can’t wait for more from this series. With such a big friendship group I’m excited for what’s to come!
