Like all true romantics, Tiffany had always been fascinated by the great love stories of the past. The only child of two historians, she had always felt a pull towards British History and the epics that it spawned. But, instead of following in her parent’s footsteps, Tiffany chose to express her love of history in her own way: by writing about her favorite era. After obtaining a degree in English Literature, Tiffany decided to write her first book and never looked back. When she isn’t writing, she enjoys spending time with her own Prince Charming, and their two beautiful children, enjoying Massachusetts’ natural wonders. Hop on for a unique journey in Regency England, filled with intensity and heartwarming romance. Let Tiffany’s words bring the enchanting heroes of an era long gone back to life and charm their way into your heart!
Let me be clear, I loved this story. The story is 5-star material. Some overlooked edits moved me to give it 4 stars. The back story of Duke Theodore takes one down a very dark and lonely childhood path. Margaret may be desperately seeking a husband to help relieve her families coffers, little could she know what unexpected path she would be traveling down. Duke Theodore, has developed a dark reputation, but is it as bad as the ton proposes? Probably not. There is nothing like a ‘Duke of Dark’ having to deal with someone close, that is not as intimidated as expected. This someone, Margaret, is ever so irritating, annoying, opinionated, and so alluring. Too much for Theodore. Parental love stoops to a new low in this one, no excuses for such poor parenting skills. It was heartwarming to see Margaret in action, not really wavering in her support of her husband, seeing him in a vastly different light. I loved the healing, their two paths intersecting to forge a new strong path together. It really was a great read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
A marriage of convenience occurs between Margaret and Theodore. Known as the ice-hearted duke among the ton, as he holds secrets from his childhood that still haunts him today, causing his need to avoid any emotions of any kind. Margaret realizes besides Theodore’s rules, he also prefers to be alone. Her strong-willed nature gives her the strength to break down his barriers. Dramatic surprises add to the heartwarming plot, which was very well written it caused empathy and sadness. Ms Baton once again brilliantly creates a captivating story that entices readers to become emotionally involved. I wait patiently until the next book comes out in the series. Due to several editing errors, I had to give it a 4 star review. I received a complimentary ARC, but I am voluntarily offering my personal opinion.
Ms. Baton has written an interesting story of how the ways we are raised can rule the adult life. Margaret, second daughter of Viscount, is trying to make the best at a ball, but she has repaired her dress too many times, now she find it falling apart, so flees to the library, her sisters home. But Duke Theodore is there and thinks she is trying to trap him, but when he finally realizes she is telling the truth, he tries to help her, only for people to come in. Alas a marriage of convenience, but many twists and turns! Enjoy!
Theodore was raised by a very cruel and mother. It was no wonder that he would have difficulty expressing any form of emotion. Then when he was forced to marry Margaret he thought that he could continue bin an unemotional way. Margaret, though had other ideas and wanted a living relationship with her husband. Slowly those loving emotions became a reality for them once they realised how Theodore's mother had treated him as a child. Their happily ever after was exactly as they wanted it to be all about establishing a loving secure relationship.
Definitely cold-hearted & sometimes that was hard to read, although it wasn't constant & did eventually end, & I really appreciate how honorable Theodore was.
I appreciate that Margaret did stand up for herself, telling Theodore she wasn't afraid of him & refused to let him ignore her.
I appreciate how Theodore started taking care of Margaret & wanting her to eat & making sure she had nice dresses & wanted to spend time with her, it was great to see them getting closer.
A beautiful story with a mesmerizing cover. It is really pathetic to consider your own child as cause for ones dismal failure in life even in this modern 21 st century. The authoress has skillfully weaved a beautiful family based story with cruelty to children and it's after effects in their adulthood.
Margaret heads to the library to repair an old dress and there is Theodore minding his business reading. There is an accident and they are seen. Marriage follows. Theodore does not know how to love because of his past. Its up to Margaret to show him who he is. Great story
My heart went out to Theo , just imagine the cruelty of a mother, abusive, and crazy, just as his father was. And then there's Maggie, her father was not very nice. At her sister's ball, Maggie's dress came undone, it was Theo who was so obsessed with neatness, that brought them together. Thank you ♥️

This is a book filled with emotion. The characters are wonderfully engaging. You can't help falling in love with them. I could not put this book down. Definitely a must read!
This was one of the sweetest, loveliest romances with twists in the story. Of course it's not straightforward , there are twists enough to keep you on your toes, but also hoping that true love be given the chance. I just simply loved it. It was in a way gentle.
Love the characters of Theo and Margaret. Both have bad parents that affect their lives in negative ways but in spite of it their love develops and grows into a happy ever after. Child abuse, alcoholism, gambling are a few triggers to be aware of in this book.
A very well written book which delves into the impact of severe child abuse has on the life of an adult Theo had a difficult time learning to trust Maggie after they married.
This may be my favorite Tiffany Baton book. This book will cause you to go through a range of emotions from surprise, shock, sadness, laughter and happy. I just wish this story had went on a little longer in the extended epilogue to reveal more information on the new addition or additions.
