Kindness is a disease, light is a blasphemous thing and evil is a blessing. Sorel for her whole life, she had no idea what she was. Her life was just normal, before her life turned upside down after a fateful accident. Her identity, her origins which is the missing puzzle piece start showing up after the accident. Everything is normal, it just… Sorel is not. This story had a very nice warm family connection, and it really took it to the next level. Each family member can feel if their family member is alive or injured, even if far away. I really like the character development in Sorel. The story is a kinda dark version of The Little Mermaid. The villain's cruelty and wickedness are shown perfectly in the story. The tension and suspense when the villain does their thing makes me stop thinking and yell “Noo… Nooo please! Don't let this happen!” So much drama-agony, which is surprisingly suitable in this story. The chapters which impress me the most are from when Sorel accepts who she is and her fate, because that’s when the adventure started. From there a new magical creature starts showing up, and I hope there will be an illustration of characters and magical beings in the future hahaha. Mermaids with unexpected magical creatures become sidekicks? That’s pretty awesome! But, there is something that concerns me, that the story is at a slow pace but the romance is too fast for me. I mean like how FMC and MMC met. Also, there are too many expressing emotions scenes. It is actually only a personal preference matter. For me, I like the romance in the fantasy-adventure scene and this book story like the beauty of a poem on the sea. Overall, I’m enjoying this book! I really hope there will be more Sorel stories in the future.
ARC Review Reborn Light - Amalia Tselemegkou YA fantasy. Mermaids. Found family. Curse.
The writing style of Amalia is amazing.
The story was very slow passed but interesting throughout and easy to follow. Only around 70-80% do we get to the plot of the story and the book. I can't wait to read the second book to see what happens! The way the book ended was a very unexpected twist of events.
Sorel was raised as a human girl with very strong bonds with her brother and the parents who raised her. Sometimes some of those bonds make you wonder... Is there something hidden or missing. The bond with her brother Alex is very strong and I still have some unanswered questions.
Demetres was an interesting addition to the story and I have mixed feelings about him. At some point I felt annoyed with him and I thought he's just being unnecessarily hard headed. But again, there's too many unanswered questions here...
Not to mention the ending again. But... Yes. What is that? What happened?! I need to know.
This is definitely not your normal mermaid story and no pirates involved. It's a long book, but I hope everyone else will also enjoy the journey as I have.
Reborn Light by Amalia Tselemegkou is a beautifully written and unique fantasy that stands out in the genre. While it’s a bit softer and more subtle than the darker stories I usually gravitate toward, such as dark romance and dark academia, I truly appreciated the enchanting world Amalia created.
That said, I did find the explanation in the world-building a bit slow, which made it harder for me to engage fully at first. However, the originality of the story and the care put into its creation are undeniable, and I can see this being a favourite for readers who enjoy a more delicate, immersive fantasy experience.
Although I haven’t finished the book yet, I’ll definitely return to it when I’m in the mood for something different. Thank you, Amalia, for the opportunity to read this before its launch. Please keep writing these beautifully unique stories—our book world needs them!
Sorel's journey of self-discovery and the exploration of her dual identity are woven with care and creativity, making her story captivating and heartfelt. Mermaids are truly neglected in the fantasy world. Thank you for the refreshing change

I had a chance to read this amazing book and all I can say is that I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book. Firstly the writing style is unique, which I personally adore. Secondly for me a lot of the times when I think of mermaid stories, I usually tend to read romance books where there is a prince charming or pirated involved but Reborn Light has changed my perspective on so many things. This is definitely one book that has been a game changer for me. It has pulled me to explore different genres and read something that I don’t normally read. Also one last thing, I feel as if Demestres and I have a love and hate relationship. One moment I am calm and the next thing Demestres has me worked up.
I was lucky enough to be picked to be one of the advanced readers for her new book.
All I can say is just wow. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I couldn’t put the book down and was even reading it whilst chopping up vegetables for tea 😂 it’s a young adult book based on a young girl who doesn’t know her true origins and raised away from her people. It’s set in beautiful Greece and the way that Amalia has described the areas made me feel like I was there in the moment. I can’t wait for the other books to come out!
Even though it’s aimed at young adults I’d say it’s also suitable for those of us who are adults (although some days I do wish I wasn’t one!)
This book was lovely for something different 😍 so often I feel these days especially ideas 💡 and characters as well as creatures are all the same or very similar. As a young girl I loved mermaids 🧜♀️ and I enjoyed anything related to mermaids and this is ultimately what drew me to the book 📖 This author has a very unique writing style which I will also say is a breath of fresh air.
Another thing to think about is that so often stories like this have a prince or some male character. This isn't necessarily about that, it's more about the strength of the characters, the relationships they build and bonds formed.
It is a slow story to begin with but it will capture you fully I can promise that. I look forward to book 2 😊.
I found this book intriguing from the very beginning it makes you want to keep reading to find out more! Ugh Demetres so stubborn and yet I love him 🤦🏼♀️😂This book is a little slower paced than I’d normally like but as I said above it definitely keeps you hooked!!
This ending will shatter you I’m utterly lost (not in a bad way) I just need more!! More answers; more story; more everything!!
What an amazing journey into the magical, mythical world of mermaids.
Sorel … Found by humans as a baby and raised by them until she turns 17 and her mystical powers come to light.
The story developed slowly, but it totally captured me and I was fascinated by what would happen as I continued reading.
Strong characters, friendships and bonds being formed were my favorite main parts. Loved how the writer wrote this story and I am looking very much forward to reading the second book.
I love mermaids, so I was drawn to this book and its gorgeous cover. Reborn Light started slow but once it picked up, I was pulled into a really cool take on mermaid lore. I loved how amazing and close Sorel's human family were and I would love to see more of Demetres in the next book. The ending was shocking and left me wanting to get my hands on the next book!
Intriguing story line and although ot was slower paced, it kept me reading because I HAD to know what happens. Can't wait until the second book comes out.
