Only Silence by Rylie Dark is the eighth book in the Sadie Price FBI series. This one drops you right into the cold, isolated backroads of Alaska, with a serial killer picking off people who use the ferry. The setting works — it feels remote and adds a lot to the tension. You can almost feel the cold and the sense that help is nowhere nearby. What I liked is that it moves fast. There are plenty of twists, and you don’t get much time to breathe before something else happens. It’s built for people who want a page-turner, not a slow burn. Sadie herself is dealing with a lot — her own trauma, her sister’s unsolved murder, all of it bubbling under the surface. It gives her a little more depth than your average thriller detective, even if you’re here for the action. That said, this is book eight. If you haven’t read the earlier ones, you might feel like you’re playing catch-up with Sadie’s backstory and relationships. The twists are there. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel — so if you read a ton of thrillers, you might see some of it coming. If you’re looking for something super literary or deep this isn’t it. But if you want a tense, quick read with a good setting and a main character you can root for, this gets the job done. I’d say it’s solid — around 3.5 to 4 stars. If you like a fast-moving thriller and don’t mind jumping into a series midstream, this one’s worth picking up. If you prefer to start at the beginning, maybe grab the first in the series and see how you feel.
