The enemy believes the battle is nearly over, but he’s just getting started.
Sector 17 has tried to silence the Ghost of Oz, but he doesn’t back down. Back on the hunt, Tyler Reid uncovers chilling truths that challenge everything he knows about his enemy and the woman who works for them. Caught between protecting a Russian heiress and the job she has to do, Tyler starts to question who he can rely on.
Alexandra “Alex” Romanova has been told who she is, but fragmented memories hint at a past she's reluctant to reclaim—a past far darker than what she remembers. When Tyler offers her a chance to escape her cruel boss at Sector 17, the plight of young recruits being turned into killers weighs heavily on her conscience. She’s determined to give them the same freedom she's found, but doesn’t realize that in doing so she has put them all at risk.
As the head of Sector 17 clings to power, Tyler and Alex are caught in the middle of a deadly war for lives, freedom, and revenge. With enemies closing in on all sides, they can't save everyone. The stakes are higher than ever—there is no time to die.
“Everything in life held a risk. Most people didn’t realize that their every action, every choice, every word had the chance to better their lives or destroy them. People feared taking big risks. But the greater the risk, the greater the reward.”
After book one ended with a fantastic cliffhanger, I knew I needed to get back to book two! This up-and-coming young author not only pulls me in with her fantastic plotlines, but also with her ability to get into her characters’ heads - a deep POV. I love that her characters are from a variety of backgrounds, each bringing their own skill sets to the narrative, and that she writes clean, high-stakes, thrilling stories.
I appreciated getting back to the Sector 17 plot with Alex and Reid again. This time, Alex wants to break free of Sector 17 and shut them down. She knows that she needs help, and Reid is a necessary accomplice. Neither the characters nor I were expecting to uncover the side plot, so it was a great surprise. The twists are fantastic.
I highlighted these sections and I’m still thinking about them days later:
✔️“The choice you made showed me who you are.” ✔️"You’re not judge, jury and executioner." ✔️When a character (no spoilers here) comments on a turn of events being the answer to a prayer and then comments that “God had an interesting plan.” ✔️“Don’t let evil people change you.” ✔️“You told me that I had to kill to survive. That everyone was a killer.”
I’m excited about book three and learning more about the narcotic from book one!
Congratulations Taylor S. Newport - you've got a compelling series that I know will attract many readers.
Tayler S Newport writes stories that move fast and derail your day for anything else you might have planned to do.
I enjoyed becoming reacquainted with the Ghost of Oz--Tyler--and his off and on again love interest Alex Romanova. There’s also a secondary romance, almost like getting two books for the price of one, when it comes to Sector 17 operators Ben and Kenna. The train scene toward the end of this story is intense enough to leave you with goosebumps!
If you love international espionage, CIA thrillers, Christian fiction, and gut-your-heart out romance because they rarely get together, this book is for you.
If you enjoy movies like Mission Impossible or Liam Neeson action films then you're going to love the Dauntless Defenders series by Taylor S. Newport. No Time to Die is book two and I'm looking forward to the next one. Filled with action and a subplot of romance this is a great read!
Wow, Taylor really has something special with this series! The suspense and intricate details keep you hooked, with layered storylines and backstories that make it stand out. If you enjoyed book one, you’ll definitely want to continue following Alex and Tyler to see what happens next.
As a romance reader, I was eager to see if Alex and Tyler would finally let each other in, and while the romance isn’t the main focus, there are some sweet moments that I was glad I was able to experience. Both characters have complicated pasts: Alex’s life of privilege turned to tragedy and crime, and Tyler’s troubled childhood, and then survival as a mercenary... it’s no surprise that their relationship takes time and patience to develop.
There’s also a secondary romance woven in that adds depth to the story. And gives some of the sweet moments I was craving in this story. Tyler is determined to get Alex back to her Grandfather safely, but their mission gets delayed by conflicts with S17 and the CIA. Meanwhile, Alex has her own agenda that complicates their survival, and it’s a constant push and pull between their personal goals and staying alive.
This story is a longer read than expected, and while it took a little time to pull me in, once I hit the halfway mark, I couldn’t put it down. Watching Alex and Tyler battle trust issues while facing impossible odds was emotionally intense. The suspense is a page-turner, and even though romance takes a backseat, when those moments do come, they’re spot on. Make sure you read book one first,so you can enjoy the full story.
I received a complimentary copy, this review reflects my honest opinion.
I loved it! This book is a well-thought-out, action-packed story that I thoroughly enjoyed. The fast-paced narrative includes elements of romance, and I appreciate the themes of faith and trust in God woven throughout the characters' struggles.
The story continues from the cliffhanger in "Line of Fire," where the people in Sector 17 are causing problems that cannot persist if Tyler has his way. Tyler is an Australian mercenary. I love the Mission Impossible style story and that it is without foul language. I also enjoyed the development of the supporting characters in this installment. Alex, a Russian heirs must confront the pain she caused Tyler and explore her feelings for him. I appreciated how Tyler consistently showed up to protect her; they truly make a great team together. I was happy there wasn’t a cliffhanger ending. 😉💗
The second book in the Dauntless Defenders series answered a lot of questions that I had about the backstory of Tyler and Alex and created an entire new web of intricate relationships and subterfuge. Alex is determined to save the kids who were forced to work for Sector 17 while Tyler is equally determined to safely return Alex to her grandfather in Russia. Neither goal is easy to accomplish and the book is woven around their efforts as well as the conflict between the CIA and Sector 17 which keeps Tyler and Alex somewhat floundering in the middle between two entities that seem to be willing to self-destruct rather than let the other side win. The foundation of faith is evident, but there are some triggers in the story, including human trafficking and child abuse. Details of both are not such that they are stomach-turning, and they are presented in a way to seamlessly fit into the story without becoming the central focus. I enjoyed getting to know the characters better in this second book. Although the book is lengthy, once I got into the story, I was not even aware of how long I was reading because I lost myself in the lives of the characters and in the challenges that they faced. The plot was moderately paced at first as the author introduced the characters and the conflicts and picked up to a quick pace once I knew all of the players and their goals in the story. Told from various points of view and also including a dual timeline, this was a book that kept me thinking and wondering what could possibly happen next to thwart the main characters from fulfilling their missions. There were some head-spinning surprises that I really didn’t expect and thoroughly enjoyed. Best of all, this book ends in a way that I wanted the series to definitely continue so that I could see more of the romantic relationship develop between some of the characters. All of the conflict within the boundaries of this novel were resolved in a satisfying way that made me happy that I read the book and thrilled that the saga will continue. This book is a military/spy thriller comparable to Tom Clancy but with a strong and clear faith element. Disclaimer: I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review and all opinions expressed are my own.
I enjoyed the second installment in the Dauntless Defenders series. No Time to Die picks up where Line of Fire ended. No Time to Die has flashbacks, where we learn more about Alex's past. Tyler is determined to keep his promise to Alex's mother to protect Alex. As Tyler, Alex, Tyler's team, and a couple of other operatives work together to end an organization, they encounter setbacks. No Time to Die is an action-packed military thriller with awesome characters, an engaging plot with twists and turns, and Christian elements woven in. You don't want to miss out on this thriller as it will capture your attention. I received a complimentary copy of this book.all thoughts and opinions are my own.
No Time to Die is an epic continuation to Line of Fire! Taylor S. Newport is such a talented writer who weaves together wonderful characters, an amazing plot, and thrilling action. Alexis is trying to take down Sector 17, a Russian organization who is focused on revenge, war, and killing. Tyler is caught between protecting Alexis, and helping her take down Sector 17. The stakes are high and there is no room for error!
This book we leave you on the edge of your seat, and you couldn't ask for a better ending in this book! I absolutely loved Tyler and Alex I cannot wait for more adventures in this series!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
The world building of this novel was phenomenal! The nonstop action had my attention captive from the very beginning and the slow burn romance had me begging for more. Plot twists pulled me away from all of my adult responsibilities and I regret nothing lol. I am so excited to read the third book of this series - “Severed Ties”.
WOW!!! No Time to Die had me turning pages as fast as I could, denying sleep, and returning back to where I left off as the previous time. This was a well thought out plotted book filled with action, a variety of emotions, and a deeply rooted belief -- a simple trust in God. With Alex having deeply and physically having hurt mercenary Tyler Reid, he still kept showing up to protect her. Where that faith, or trust in our Creator was planted, it branched out to others through gentle gestures. Strong indications that there was something higher than each of them living within the boundaries of this world were placed throughout the pages of this book. Newport, a new author within the Christian Romantic Suspense/Thriller genre has hit a home run with No Time to Die!! I thoroughly enjoyed this fast-action book, with a dash of romance. All of the characters added their own splash to these pages -- some more than enough to elicit a laugh or two. Others banded together together to complete the endgame. All in all, this book met all of my expectations. Therefore, I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. It's one that I plan on reading again ....
Oh, my goodness! What a ride! I felt like I was right in the middle of the action the whole time. Definitely worth adding to your TBR stack for summer reading. I loved it!
I received an advanced reader’s copy from the author. All opinions are my own.
*I read an early copy from the author. This does not affect my review and the thoughts are my own. This review is voluntary.*
I was excited to pick this one up when I first learned of the series a couple months ago, and am so that that I did! This epic sequel was everything I'd hoped for and was exactly what I needed right now! The action was spot-on, the twists, turns, and mystery were well done, and the characters were easily my favorite part! There's a lot happening in this series, and this follow-up to the first book in the Dauntless Defenders series keeps going where the first left off. I definitely recommend reading these in order, especially as the series goes on.
The surprise twists and secret allegiances were a bit part of the story, and kept things interesting and the story moving forward as a good pace, even for being a somewhat longer story. The questions of morality, loyalty, 'what's next', and who to trust were another fun aspect of this one, as each of the character seemed to reach a point in the story where they really had to consider some of the hard questions that they had been avoiding, and deciding for themselves if the end really does justifies the means, or if it just makes them as bad as the thing (or person) they are fighting against? It was interesting to see the different ways this reoccurring theme played into the story, and how faith affected the answer to the question providing a clearer direction and mission along the way.
I've really enjoyed the books in this series so far, and look forward to reading more adventures with these characters! I gave this one about a 4.5 rating, rounding up to 5. This story kept me reading, the characters were a delight to read about, and the plot and action were well done and kept moving the story along toward the end. A thrilling read!
This is a Lengthy Christian action thriller. This book picks up where the last book left off. This is book 2 in a saga that I’ve heard will continue for many more books, but I feel like this book brought a good conclusion to some things and I didn’t feel like I was leaving off with a cliffhanger.
We follow our Russian heiress assassin and our Aussie mercenary around both the states and the world as things are heating up between the CIA and the CIA rogue sect and the people we are rooting for are caught in the middle. This is a high stakes action thriller that has faith woven into it. It works hard to show the hearts of people and motivations behind actions and delves into the grayness that exists and brings out some redemption. I love how our hero Tyler is always so protective of Alex no matter what is going on. She has a forgotten past that leads her to be even more vulnerable on the inside but hardened on the outside. I adore how he endeavors to keep her safe always, no matter what.
We get multiple points of view in this book and some things we thought we knew are turned on their heads. There are many twists and turns and unexpected leaps that this book takes. I had some difficulty with coming in and out of the story in the first half, but the second half was way more solid for me. It was very strong, high action, and captured my interest such that I was spending long periods of time reading it. I can tell that a lot of thought and research went into this book and that impressed me. Now, the slow burn romance on this is definitely a side aspect that, I assume, will continue throughout the coming books.

"It takes no time to die." This quote from Tyler, sets the tone and the intensity of this amazing story.
No Time to Die is an epic thriller and book 2 in the Dauntless Defender's series. Once again Taylor weaves intriguing mystery into an action-packed, mission impossible style adventure.
The opening pages begin where Line of Fire left off, and if you haven't read it yet, I would highly recommend reading it first, as this is not a standalone series.
I loved No Time To Die as between the the suspenseful adventure, is an intriguing, complex plot. Tyler and Alex are once again awesome and I was surprised by the path Kenna and Ben took.
While the paperback is over 600 pages it felt like there were several stories interwoven together yet none of them took away from the overall storyline and I'm glad it wasn't spilt into two or more separate books.
I really appreciate that there isn't another cliffhanger ending, and while some of the storylines wrapped up, No Time to Die teased the introduction of others and I can't wait to continue reading this series.
Taylor S. Newport is definitely an author to watch out for and I would highly recommend her books and in particular No Time to Die, to anyone who enjoy Christian thrillers, suspense novels, Mission Impossible, and intricate spy novels.
I received an arc from the author but wasn't required to leave a positive review.
This is book two in the series by this particular author. I am so glad I found her bookstagram. I loved this action-packed thriller with lots of danger and mystery. I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through. One thing I’ll say is, I never usually read a bigger book but I didn’t mind that at all with this one because it had everything in it.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
I enjoyed this book a lot! I thought the plot was great. Taylor tied up a lot of the loose ends from book 1, so that was great. I also liked the backstory for Alexandra. Definitely reminded me of Natasha Romanoff and the Red Room. I also appreciated the faith elements that remained from book 1. Nixon also ended up being one of my favorite characters. Would definitely recommend!
This is an action-packed store with numerous twists and turns. It picks up right after the first book in the series. We learn more about our favorite Australian mercenary and Russian assassin. The plot is intricate and complex, and you truly don’t know what’s coming next. This is a great read!
Picking up right after the first book, mercenary Tyler Reid is continuing to dive deeper into the web of lies and secrets hidden behind his enemies who want him dead - in addition to keeping Russian heiress, Alexandra (Alex) Romanova safe.
Alex struggles with vague memories of her traumatic past and begins uncovering it. When Tyler offers her a chance to escape the evil Sector 17, Alex finds herself torn between her freedom or saving the other members who are trapped.
As action piles up, tensions rise, and secrets get revealed, can Tyler keep Alex safe and help her rescue others trapped in S17, or will they end up dead?
This is the second book in the Dauntless Defenders series and What. A. Ride!🤯
I absolutely love Taylor’s writing. She’s a fresh new voice in the clean suspense/action genre and if you haven’t started this series, I highly recommend it!
Tyler is one of my favorite MMC’s. I absolutely love a “wounded hero” and Tyler is one to a T. His loyalty and determination to protect Alex in the face of danger, all while being injured, was admirable and made me like him even more!
Alex is fierce, intelligent, and determined to do what’s right. She has such a sweet disposition, but is also a courageous fighter. I loved how we got more of a glimpse into Alex’s past in this book and get to see where she came from as well as how it’s affecting her currently.
While this definitely isn’t a romance-heavy book at all, there is a FANTASTIC slow burn between Alex and Tyler that has been developing from the first book as more of a subplot. This will be continuing to grow across the other books in the series!
This book was full of non-stop action and there were several plot twists that had me shocked!🤯😱
This was the longest book I’ve read so far😅 The first half of the book did take me a while to get into. A lot was going on and I did find myself confused at parts. However, once it picked up, I couldn’t put it down!
If you’re looking for a book with action, subtle faith themes, and tough characters, you need to read this series!🔥
A special thanks to the author for a complimentary copy of this book!❤️
Oh my goodness, what an epic book! No Time to Die is the 2nd book in the Dauntless Defender series and it picks right up where the first book, Line of Fire ends. From page one, I was hooked and even though it is a long book, I couldn't read it fast enough! One of my favorite things (even though it was sad) was learning about Alex's backstory and how she became a part of Sector17. I also love that while the action is definitely at the forefront, there is also a bit of romance sprinkled within the story.
Overall, this book was phenomenal and I cannot WAIT for the adventure to continue in the next book. The only negative thing is that I wish I could give it more than 5 stars!
I was given an ARC to read - all opinions are my own.
While Taylor Newport may be new to the Christian fiction suspense/thriller genre, she crafted an epic thriller with No Time to Die. This story contains so many moving parts that keep the reader engaged and plenty of plot twists and turns that will keep you guessing. I think my favorite character was Tyler - no matter what, he is willing to sacrifice everything to keep his promise to protect Alex. Even risking his own health and safety. He was relentless in his determination to finish the mission and protect her.
If you enjoy non-stop, fast paced action, you will love this series. I received an early copy for review. The opinions expressed are my own.
No Time To Die is book 2 in the Dauntless Defenders series and starts up where Line of Fire ends. This is a page-turner that is jam packed with action, themes of faith and an amazing Christian mystery thriller!
I really enjoyed the flash backs, the multiple POV, the suspense, and the mystery weaved through the story. All the characters bring such a unique dynamic to the setting and I felt myself anticipating what they were about to embark on.
I do recommend reading Line of Fire prior to reading this book to have a full understanding of the characters, mission, and overall setting of the book.
I received an eARC of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I thought book one in the Dauntless Defenders Series was super suspenseful, but the continued story upped the suspense tenfold. Tyler and Alex continue to fight their way through a maze of physical obstacles and dangers, but the emotions they each deal with are heart-stopping. This one is a total cliffhanger...can't wait for book 3.
Taylor S. Newport plunges readers right back into the action in No Time to D!e, the pulse-pounding second installment of the Dauntless Defenders series. The story opens with a high-stakes moment featuring Alex—setting the tone for a thriller that never lets up.
Alex remains as fierce and focused as ever, driven by an unwavering determination to dismantle Sector 17. As she risks everything to protect the innocent operatives who were coerced into becoming assassins, her heart never fully lets go of Tyler.
Meanwhile, Tyler grapples with the raw betrayal that Alex was the one who shot him—a moment he can’t forget. Now presumed dead alongside his cop friend Ed, Tyler moves through the shadows, haunted by a truth that cuts deeper than any bullet.
Nixon, the formidable head of S17, is in a tailspin. With his funding drying up and a ruined reputation thanks to his poker table antics, he's desperate to hold his crumbling empire together. Newport deftly paints Nixon not just as a villain but a man willing to do anything to maintain control. Nixon knows he’s losing power and he’s willing to do whatever it takes. And beneath that ruthless exterior? A complicated soft spot for Alex.
Ben, Nixon’s right-hand man, begins to question everything. Once a true believer in S17’s mission, his loyalty starts to shift. Ben sees Nixon’s cause as a good thing—but is it really? His internal conflict is one of the novel’s most compelling arcs, especially as he commits to keeping Alex safe—whether she wants his help or not.
One of the standout subplots follows Kenna, now living undercover as a nanny in a world far removed from the brutal reality of S17. Her charge? The orphaned nephew of a congressman hot on the trail of Sector 17. It’s a subtle but clever thread that adds depth and political intrigue to the main plot.
Newport also weaves in sharp, philosophical moments, like this standout quote: “There are three different kinds of people. Those who like you for who you are. Those who pretend to like you for one reason or another. Or those who dislike you for that same reason. You need friends who like you for who you really are.” It's a reminder that even in a world of assassins, secret sectors, and betrayal, truth and trust still matter.
The tension crescendos when a job goes sideways, sending Alex and Tyler on the run together. The stakes are higher than ever, the trust between them fragile, and every step they take draws them deeper into a fight not just for survival—but for redemption.
No Time to D!e delivers a thrilling mix of action, emotional weight, and morally complex characters. With each chapter, Newport tightens the noose on S17—and on readers' nerves. It’s a fast-paced ride that leaves you breathless and begging for book three.
Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of this book, and this is my honest and unbiased review.
Intense world building and almost nonstop action make No Time to Die the perfect continuation of The Dauntless Defenders series. This series is meant to be read in order, and it is clear why. Even though I came into this novel having read Line of Fire, the first book in the series, I still struggled to get my bearings. There is so much that happens in this story that it’s almost overwhelming in its intensity, and the multiple POVs added to my confusion, but once I got my bearings, I was hooked.
Alex and Tyler’s situation is intense, yet while there is an obvious hardness there, it’s clear they both see one another for who they are inside, not what they have been conditioned to be. This was a touching aspect amid a pretty rough storyline, and their narrative was hands down my favorite aspect of this novel. Theirs is a slow-burn romance that I hope to see continue in future installments. I was happy to see other key players from the first novel also continue their story, as well as enjoying the nonstop action and surprising twists and turns.
There are moments that are incredibly sweet amid the suspense, particularly at the end. I appreciated that this conclusion was not only satisfying but also wasn’t the typical cliché ending. It bore weight and substance, particularly when it comes to Alex, especially when you think about all that she’s gone through to get to this moment. It was very powerful.
My one caveat is that I wish this novel could’ve been split into two separate volumes, as this novel was quite a bit longer than I’m accustomed to reading in this genre, and I felt like there were moments that did tend to drag despite the suspenseful nature. Other than that, I am so grateful I had the opportunity to continue this series and wonder what the author has in store for us next!
*I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book which I read through Kindle Unlimited. All views and opinions expressed are completely honest, and my own.
Intense! Fast paced! Action packed! No time to die by Taylor Newport is a banger! Full of thrills, lots of breath stopping moments. A thriller with christian elements interwoven. The journey of Alexandra, Tyler and so many more is fraught with pain, internal and physical struggles, injuries and definitely lots of blood curdling moments. From the first page, the author captured the thrill, the suspense and the different personalities of each character . On the edge of your seat, you keep wondering if the protagonists will make it out alive. The twists didn't stop all the way to the end. The battle between the CIA and Sector 17 cost so many lives and in the midst of it, some had their own personal quest for power and control. Tyler's team were simply amazing! Loyal to the very end, they fought and preserved. I like the bond between them and also between Alexandra and Kenna. I am glad that Kenna finally got her dream fulfilled. Tyler- the Ghost of Oz is one amazing man. Goal oriented, he pushed to the very end. I definitely look forward to the next in the Dauntless Defenders Series. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This next book in the Dauntless Defenders series picks up where the cliffhanger from Line of Fire left off. The bad guys of Sector 17 are still plotting diabolical events, and Tyler and his associates are continuing to fight against them, with new allies. The reader gets to see a new side of Mr. Big and Bad, and his little snake of a manipulator, Mallory, continues to be surprising with how despicably low she will go to get what she wants. I enjoyed the non-stop, thrilling plot and the realistic characters. Enough threads of the plot were wrapped up to keep the bittersweet ending from being another cliffhanger, but there is plenty more of the story to tell. I highly recommend this book and Line of Fire, and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book for the author. A positive review was not required, and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
If you think the first book in this series was action packed, wait until you start this one. You will definitely want to read these in order so you will know what is happening and who the characters are. In this story you have Reid still doing everything in his power to keep Alexandra safe and back to her grandfather. Though she has other ideas and wants to help the ones left in Sector 17. This story will take you on a non-stop adventure all the way until the earth shattering end. The intricacies of this story were amazing. One minute you are pulling for the good guys to win, next you are wondering if there are any good guys at all. Nobody is what they seem to be. I look forward to reading more books from this new author.
