About the author

Miguel Szymanski was born in Faro in 1966. He studied Economics, Law and Modern Literature. Writer and journalist, he works in Germany and Portugal, is a commentator of RTP and participates in the program Mundo sem Muros of RTP Internacional.
He started working at the Goethe-Institut in the early 1990s. He started in journalism in the economic press. In Portugal, he worked for the Grande Reportagem, O Independente and Expresso. He was editor of GQ magazine and journalist of Diário de Notícias. During the crisis, he returned to Germany, published his chronicles in the Die Tageszeitung in Berlin and was editor of the Öko-Test magazine in Frankfurt.
He is now correspondent for the weekly newspaper Der Freitag and the newspaper Portugal Post and also comments on what is happening in Portugal for several televisions and radios in Germany and Austria.
In Portugal, he published his first book, The Accidental Economist, in 2010. In Germany, he wrote Ende der Fiesta in 2014.
