Those who enjoy historical fiction with a touch of romance will enjoy this debut novel by Gail B. Zalfa.

Thestoey follows Olga, a Swedish yougn woman who sets off on a memorable journey toward the USA with hope in her heart. On the ship, she befriends a young woman her age who, it turns out, is traveling with her brother, Erik. Right away, the connection between Olga and Erik are clear, and their live blossoms. Only, Erik is not who he appears to be.

Despite the setback, Olga makes the most of her newfound situation. She manages to settle down with a man and raise a family. Yet, the thread between her and Erik never sever.

This fictionalized account of Zalfa’s grandmother is a wonderful story of courage in the face of trials. From the stories heard of her grandmother while growing up, Zalfa weaves an immaginitevly rich narrative that captures a glimpse of early 20th century life of a Swedish immigrant
