The complete Thrill of the Hunt series is now in one Tattered Huntress, Fiendish Delights, Skullduggery, and The Salted Sceptre.
Daisy Carter is a minor elf with major problems. She's not complaining but she's no doormat either. When a rich high elf with a silver spoon in his mouth treats her like dirt, Daisy vows to get revenge by stealing his thunder - and the ancient treasure he's searching for. What she doesn't realise is how far-reaching the consequences of her actions will be. Her entire life is about to change forever.
Dangerous treasure hunts, heart-thumping romance, old family secrets and new magical powers ... a whole new world awaits Daisy. But will she grab it with both hands or will her personal problems and addiction to the magical drug known as spider's silk overcome her first?
This boxset contains four full length novels. Expect thrilling urban fantasy with a heroine who's no Mary Sue.
This series is so well written, filled to the brim with snarky humour, crazy and amazing characters. The writing and pace kept me hooked, I’m just sad the adventures are over because I will miss Daisy, Hester, Hugh and Otis.
(FYI I tend to only review one book per series, unless I want to change my scoring by 0.50 or more of a star. -- I tend not to read reviews until after I read a book, so I go in with an open mind.)
3.25*
I read the books back to back.
Book 1, 2 and 3 = 3.75
Book 4, was 3.75 until the last chapter, which was an 'after the big plot resolve additional chapter.' -- That dropped the book by 0.5 of a star for me, so since it was the final book I'm going to rate the entire boxset at 3.25 Reason (I'm still trying to keep some of my spoiler vague.)
Wow! What a wild ride this was. The story itself was really great. It is full of adventure, mystery, funny moments and unexpected situations. The array of colorful secondary characters also added that much more to the story. I have to say though, that when it came to the MC’s I had conflicting emotions. I love that the FMC Daisy was sassy, sarcastic, smart and adventurous. I also really liked the MC Hugo, who was just as adventurous, as well as, smart, caring and protective. I guess you could say that I would have loved to have seen more growth from Daisy regarding her skills. It’s like no matter how much trining she did, she would always end up struggling to handle her dagger ”Gladys” or her magic, resulting in her making the same mistakes over and over. Also, some of Daisy’s and Hugo’s interactions were (should I say) not my cup of tea. Overall, this is was fun and entertaining read with interesting surprises. Enjoy!
Love Daisy and her crew of magical mayhem, and there’s plenty of fun and mystery for any fantasy fan. Very enjoyable series plenty of drama and action for most ages 15+.
This author gives the reader an involved but not over complicated story with well rounded characters for a very enjoyable read. Another good series, give it a try.
