Everyone in this is horny and slightly unhinged and I love that for them. What a wild, funny, absolutely trashy read.

Mei’s heart was broken in high school by her female best friend when the latter procured a boyfriend. Now in college, Mei decides that it’s girlfriend time, but that doesn’t mean much. Except her feminine wiles suddenly conjure up a gaggle of wily females and, yes, this puts her in harem’s way.

As a cis-het male I do not presume to speak for other orientations, and feel free to correct me if I impugn anybody, but this definitely feels like some serious ‘male-gaze’ designed yuri. Or just generally thirsty, perhaps, but it feels like it is aimed at a particular audience.

Which is to say, this isn’t entirely my jam, as I prefer the slower burn romance of a Girlfriends or Bloom Into You. Not that you can’t enjoy a sexy book about sex, but my own opinion should be taken with a grain of salt.

It’s all about Mei getting into shenanigans with a variety of women who are all interested in her. Which, hey, no judgment, but the harem angle is being done better in There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Be Your Lover! Unless… and the sex is way more interesting in the better-than-it-has-a-right-to-be Asumi-chan is Interested in Lesbian Brothels!. Much like Mei, you have options.

The major issue here is that the story wants to reach the steamy stuff so fast that it skips a lot of the chemistry in favour of sublimating right to the physical aspect. The narrative quickly dumps all the cast on Mei and starts on to the physical stuff.

And given the focus here, that’s fine, but a little room for the characters (especially poor Mei) to breathe would have given it a little more emotional weight. Not that it wants any, necessarily, but even a smidgen would have elevated this a bit.

The conceit here is that each of these women is attracted to a different aspect of Mei’s personality. One likes her skin, one likes her voice, none of them think very much of her boundaries, which is its own issue. It’s fine, but, and boy does this say something, even We Never Learn! had slightly more nuance than this.

I’m not going to say it’s terrible - a few sparks definitely fly and I actually like Mei a lot. She’s believably hapless as somebody who thinks that college is her time to shine and then finds herself going up like a Roman candle in a propane tank and struggling to cope.

Ironically, and somewhat irritatingly, the most interesting of Mei’s options ends up being her psychology professor (I think she’s her professor anyway, narrative is not this manga’s strong suit). This younger, but older, prof is so good at reading Mei that the latter can’t hide anything from her.

Yeah, absolutely no endorsement of this kind of improper power dynamic, but boy these two are the most fun I had with the book. And, in her defence, said professor does recognize that she can’t cross that line. She just skates it constantly.

The others are… fine… and various amounts of pushy. They tend to come on strong, which can be a little annoying (Mei’s roomie in particular is a wee bit too overboard). I do like the promise at the end that the other girls are about to start bouncing off one another over Mei, which might lend a satisfying Tenchi-Muyo! aspect to it.

3 stars - it’s not awful, but lord knows it is being done better elsewhere. Still, if you are after another one of these thirsty yuri books, it’s not the worst choice you could make and a decent (after a fashion) time, with lots of caveats.

In their note at the end, the author describes this as an experiment in Yuri harem manga. While this certainly qualifies, the execution had mixed results. The art was very cute and the lead's enthusiasm for her circumstances provided several amusing moments. However, the love interests suffered the most from this "experiment." They felt less like characters, and more like personifications of a trope. There's potential in a few of the connections, while others felt a bit uncomfortable. Mei's eagerness goes a long way towards lessening that discomfort, however. There's definitely room to grow, so I'll have to see where this goes.

It was an interesting story so far, but how Mei meets some of the love interests has some red flags to it.

This has its fun aspects, but it’s very, very male gaze-y. If you’ve read any 90s/00s lowbrow harem comedy, you’ve already pretty much read this; the only major difference is that the protagonist is female. The love interests are almost all unhinged and instantly in love for no clear reason, and the main character is, again in a way that’s typical for harem comedy, very into it, very unable to distinguish healthy interactions from extremely dubious or predatory ones, and very indecisive.

Something that really hurts the storytelling is how little time it gives any of the newly introduced characters or relationships to breathe before it’s hurling the readers into new characters and new over the top situations. Because of the pacing, really the only love interest whose interest in the main character makes sense is Karin, a known player who the other characters warn Mei about and whose interest in Mei is very explicitly that she wants to mess around with the cute new student in the club. She’s also pretty straightforward about it and with their mutual attraction, she and Mei have pretty good, believable chemistry. Aside from Karin, the other love interest setups range from dubious power dynamics (was that her advisor hitting on her?) to “comedic” assault from her unbearable roommate to dynamics that aren’t given the time or space to develop into something believable or interesting and fall very flat as a result. The professor/advisor is the one other character who has some genuinely interesting interactions with Mei, but the power dynamic gives it a level of ick I can’t get past. It’s not the worst thing I’ve read, but I can’t say it’s good, either. I’d read the next volume if it fell into my lap and I was bored, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to find it or purchase it.

If retro harem comedy is something you enjoy and you can deal with the genre-typical over the top storytelling, this might be for you; otherwise, give it a pass.

More like a 3.5.
This was cute and pretty unhinged. Usually when it comes to romance manga, the romance is between one main couple or there may be a second love interest introduced to provide tension, but typically the romance I’m used to picking up is slow burn. Like a kdrama. They’re not holding hands or going on a date until half way through the series. But on that journey, your heart hurts because you want this couple to be together, but they just never communicate their feelings to each other. So you’re left tuning in, waiting for the big confession, to make your heart swell. 💗
This wasn’t that. Far from it.
This manga is about Mei, who is starting college and wants to get a girlfriend. The start of this series would be the opposite of slow burn. As Mei interacts with all these different women on campus, we see they’re all attracted to her, and so she asks the question “Is this love?” There are 5 love interests atm. I fear for more to be introduced, because that would definitely make this more ridiculous. Lmaooo.
This first volume felt a bit rushed. I don’t think I got to know each character enough, but they were quick to mention what about Mei they find attractive, and one being even more straightforward with their intentions with Mei. But usually in romances I like to pick up there is more yearning, which I eat up every time!!
This introduction didn’t really do it for me.
Everyone is pretty much just horny. Lmaooo. This manga is different to what I’m used to, but I’m along for the ride.
I think it might be trashy, but also fun! I’m curious if there will be any drama. Or if it’s just gonna continue to be pure chaos. Will there be true romance? Or just an ongoing situationship?
Who will win Mei’s heart, and who’s will be left broken?
Only time will tell. On to the next volume.

this definitely reads very male gaze-y, with strong yuri paradise vibes and absolutely no concept of normal human behaviors regarding courting/boundaries/etc lol. kaoru, mei's roommate, is especially bad...who takes off their roommates clothes while they're sleeping and hops into bed with them?? the professor relationship is also off-putting. that being said, I am enjoying some of the relationships a lot, especially mei and riri <3 mei herself is also quite endearing! the art is great too. I will probably pick up the next volume and see where this goes.

”My college goal is to get a girlfriend.”

3⭐️This was a super cute GL manga but it eas also very random. There’s like some odd sensory experiences happening rn and I’m not too sure about it.

One of them is obsessed with scenting her, one with her voice, the other with her touch, one wants to eat her in ALL the ways and the other is trying to mess with her mind. Like it’s all a bit much for the poor thing haha.

It was cute and I read it for Sapphic September. But sweet for me but enjoyable all the same.

A Yuri harem?!! I'm seated.

Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher for the DRC. This was a cute and quick read that quickly establishes that our MC is a horny freshman who wants to find love. But, she's so irresistible that every woman she encounters starts secretly fighting over her. Her interactions and reactions were so hilarious that I enjoyed this read even though there wasn't much depth. Solid 3 and I'd for sure read the next volume.

2.5 stars rounded down, because it’s definitely not a rounding up situation. Pervy yuri harem slop that’s giving male gaze. How was each love interest creepier than the last?? I bought it for a couple bucks so I’m not mad, but a little confused about how it ended up on the Christian thrift store shelves 💀 Love this for the people that love this, but do not love this for me.

10/10 pervy energy, 2/10 believable lesbians

This is a cute romance; love her confusion as she's pulled between all the different love interests. I enjoy how each girl is themed after a different sense; I do kind of hope future volumes we get to spend a bit of more time with each one rather than her getting pulled away any time she gets too close to making a stronger connection.

3 stars. Ridiculous, funny, and highly entertaining. Mei is down bad and is desperate to find a girlfriend. She literally spends a day falling in love with every woman she meets and it’s hilarious. This looks like it’s going to end up being a why choose which could be a lot of fun. I will definitely be picking up volume two when it comes out.

Definitely a Yuri harem manga with some pretty creepy love interests. I’m hoping that they delve deeper into each potential love interest and give them some actual personality. The first volume was all over the place. I would like to see an actual clear storyline other than the fan service. The art is very cute and I plan on trying to continue this series.

2.5 rounded up. I like that the protagonist is college aged. I don’t like that we are letting our actions speak instead of our words in a very horny reckless kind of way. Also, it gives me the baby gay cringe 😂😂. The second book is going to decide whether I follow this series or not I think

I love a series that doesn't take itself too seriously, and is silly and fun. The premise is promising, and the characters are wacky in an endearing way. I hope Mei continues to find herself in more ridiculous and spicy situations, lol!

It's about an oversexed girl looking for her next girlfriend and partner and it's all over the top and quite a bit of obnoxious pining and emotional outbursts (and plenty of sexy scenes and elements of nudity).

She was too annoying for me to really love it, but I get it.

This didn't totally work for me, but this will work if you are an equally horny lesbain, like the main character. I gotta give the author credit for recognizing the plot is kinda ridiculous, I can see this working for a lot of people, I'm just not the right audience. ✋️😅✋️

This harem is completely unhinged and I don't know what the hell I've been reading

It's a lot of fun but I also felt pretty much overwhelmed while reading it because there's just so much going on in such a short timespan

I read a review before reading this that said the characters were unhinged. And that is so true. They are absolutely crazy and I love it. I can already tell this is going to be bonkers from start to finish and I'm here for every minute.

Personally not a fan of the teacher x student trope but otherwise very cute and funny, I'm a sucker for a lesbian romance and I love seeing classic hetero romance tropes turned on it's head. Easy, feel-good, read!
