'His Lost Mate' is the twelfth book in Delta James' "Alaskan Tales" series, and this installment was quite an adventure. Phoebe, a top pilot who retired from the Air Force, receives a call from her lieutenant commander asking her to conduct a test flight on a classified aircraft. This flight has no backup or second pilot.
After takeoff, while flying in the remote wilderness of Alaska, the plane begins to malfunction. With no way to contact anyone for assistance and thoughts of sabotage racing through her mind, Phoebe’s plane eventually crash-lands. Realizing she needs to get the flight computer to someone she trusts before she is discovered, Phoebe finds herself in a dangerous situation, now both prey and witness to what has taken place.
Meanwhile, Jonah, a snow leopard shifter, is dealing with his secrets in the Alaskan wilderness. As he follows a familiar path up the mountains, he hears the crash and picks up the distinct odors of oil and fire. He could have easily walked away, but something compels him to check on what happened. Upon arrival, he is not only hit by the smells of the wrecked aircraft but also the alluring scent of his fated mate. Despite his feelings, Jonah knows he has many questions to answer before he can confront this unexpected bond.
The storyline is exhilarating, with each book in the series enhancing the backdrop of the Alaskan wilderness and its shifter community. The passion and intense chemistry between fated mates, along with a love and loyalty that are truly heartwarming, make this a wonderful and exciting read.

Phoebe was asked if she wanted to take an experimental stealth plane out to see what it could do but then it was malfunctioning and she crashed after being bombed at. She took the plane’s flight control computer before she left the plane, she was sent on the flight and wasn’t to return. Jonah was trying to find the truth about his father’s death and saw the plane go down but his snow leopard wouldn’t let him leave Phoebe there. He knew that he had to get her away before the hunters show up to kill her for the computer, she had activated the emergency beacon so the ones that wanted her dead kept coming after them. Jonah told her about fated mates after he took care of some the men after her, he found out how his father died and she found out who set her up.

THE EYE OF THEIR OWN PERSONAL STORM

The Alaskan Tails series is a spin-off from the Mystic River Shifters Series. It will showcase people that were mentioned, but never had their own story. The stories in this series are shorter novellas, unlike the longer tales, which are about twice as long. Once again, it was fun seeing characters that we met in previous stories have their own tale.

The story will involve former Air Force Pilot, Phoebe Lawrence, being asked to test flight a new, top-secret aircraft called Ghosthawk, over the Alaskan tundra. She will be on her own, without any backup. When her craft starts to experience failure, it is a complete failure including any means of communication. She will crash land, but survive, but this was more than equipment failure because she had missiles fired at her. Now, she needs to gather a few things and leave before she is found. When Jonah Locke sees the downed aircraft and a woman, he can’t just leave her.

The story is a tale of life and death danger, being hunted, and trying to stay ahead of those pursuing you. It is Phoebe and Jonah working together, escaping from the danger trailing them while trying to survive in the bitter-cold wilderness. Phoebe was injured, but she has determination and grit that impresses Jonah—but they must keep on moving.

He knows early on, she is his fated mate, and that gives him a great need to protect her at all costs. One night of passion between them is with secrets because she isn’t aware of his snow leopard. But the truth will come out soon. How will she react to the truth?

Jonah: Phoebe.
Phoebe: Don’t overthink it. Just come here. You need to get out of those wet clothes.
Jonah: This isn’t the time.
Phoebe: We don’t know what’s coming next. Can’t we just—can’t we just stop fighting everything for a moment?
Jonah: You don’t know what you’re asking for.
Phoebe: Maybe not. But I know I’m tired of being alone.
Jonah: You have no idea what you’re doing to me.
Phoebe: Then show me.

“His father’s lessons rang in his head—stay unpredictable, use the environment, and never leave your back exposed.”

Jonah: We’ve got a little time to eat and rest.
Phoebe: Thank you.
Jonah: For what?
Phoebe: For not walking away. For staying.
Jonah: I couldn’t have walked away if I tried. You’re mine, Phoebe. Whether you like it or not.
Phoebe: And if I’m not ready to be?
Jonah: We’ll cross that bridge when we have to, but in the spirit of transparency, I’m not letting you go.

The story has the good, the bad, and the evil. It is a fast-paced, action-packed, fated-mates story with adrenaline scenes as Phoebe and Jonah work to stay ahead of their pursuers. They will be tested and must put their full faith in one another to defeat the enemy and protect Ghosthawk’s secrets and their future. Evil will get their comeuppance and the fated mates will find their happiness together.

3.75stars-HIS LOST MATE is the twelfth instalment and stand alone in Delta James’ contemporary, adult ALASKAN TAILS erotic, paranormal, romance series. This is snow leopard Jonah Locke, and former fighter pilot turned Air Force test pilot Phoebe Lawrence’s story line.

Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Jonah and Phoebe) HIS LOST MATE focuses on the building relationship between snow leopard Jonah Locke, and Air Force test pilot Phoebe Lawrence in the wake of the crash of Phoebe’s jet. Phoebe Lawrence’s latest assignment is to test the military’s new Ghosthawk stealth fighter but Phoebe suspects the jet has been sabotaged and the inevitable spiral comes in the wake of a missile aimed at the government’s latest weapon. Alone in the Alaskan wilderness, Phoebe is rescued by Jonah Locke, a man who is not human, a man with whom Phoebe will quickly fall in love but all is not well as Jonah and Phoebe have a target on their backs, someone is determined to steal the information that went down in the crash.

The world building is fast and furious. Phoebe and Jonah are on the run, one-step ahead of the people determined to destroy them both but Jonah has a secret, one that Phoebe is about to witness first hand.

The relationship between Phoebe and Jonah is one of fated mates. A crash landing, and an injured woman pull Jonah towards his inevitable future. Jonah’s inner snow leopard believes they have found their mate, and Jonah refuses to give up on the woman who has a target on her back. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.

The secondary and supporting characters are few. We are introduced to Lt. Colonel Jessica Mitchell, and executive officer Major Simpson.

HIS LOST MATE is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is intriguing and interesting; the romance is fated and impassioned; the characters are determined and supernatural.

Being in the Airforce, Phoebe Lawrence ends up being asked to be in the cockpit of a new technology- the Ghosthawk, an experimental stealth aircraft. However, on its maiden flight, everything goes wrong and she crashes in Alaska. Her father, Col. Richard Lawrence is very disappointed in her because she didn’t re-enlist. She had a full systems malfunction and after she crashed, injured, she grabs the small black box and staggers from the wreck, knowing that the only reason that it happened is because someone sabotaged it, and they would want the black box. Jonah is a snow leopard shifter and after his father’s death, he has been searching for the why of it. Then he smells something- his mate, and so much find and protect her- Phoebe. Their interactions are crazy, hilarious and in some ways soooo hawt. lol. I so needed my AC on. At first, Phoebe doesn’t want to tell him anything, but since both their lives are on the line, she relents a bit, once they realize they are being hunted. Jonah protects her and shows her how to survive, even with her injuries. Honestly, I was shocked at what she could still do, but then again, it was a survival situation. Finally, they have a long talk after a sitch where he reveals the truth of himself to her. Boy, are the fight scenes awesome. I loved them. I loved this book. It was fun, funny, steamy, romantic, thrilling, suspenseful and total mischief and mayhem. Finding out who was behind it all was a shock and I loved the comeuppance.

Phoebe Lawrence is a former Air Force pilot who was asked to test flight a secret project, the Ghosthawk jet, over the Alaskan wilderness. As she’s flying, she experienced a total failure, and the plane crashed. She saw that a missile was locked on her and she did a rapid dive to avoid it, leading to the crash. She sustained injuries and was able to crawl out of the plane and believed it was sabotage. She took the emergency beacon and the flight control computer with her that held all the flight information. She wondered who would want her to crash the jet and possibly die.

Jonah is a snow leopard shifter and was traveling through the woods in his leopard form. He wanted to see what happened because he smelled oil, metal and fire. As he moved closer, he realized that Phoebe was his fated mate. Jonah shifted back to a human and approached her to help. She refused until he finally convinced her that she would die if left alone in the wilderness.

Jonah heard people who were coming after her and saw that they were armed. He and Phoebe traveled through the area to avoid detection, but they were getting closer. The danger was all around them. It was very suspenseful until the “bad guys” were captured. Phoebe was shocked to discover who was behind the plot! The ending was lovely because they eventually found their happily ever after. Jonah, a white leopard shifter, happened upon Phoebe, his fated mate, injured in the wilds of Alaska after a classified jet she was testing was shot down. His human side was unwilling to get involved but his shifter side demanded he protect her with his life.

Alone and injured, no idea who she could trust after the jet she was flying had been sabotaged and shot down, Phoebe was a bit distrustful when Jonah appeared out of nowhere. When they heard other voices, men carrying weapons, and Jonah demanding she hurry, she realized she had no choice but to trust him… at least up to a point.

The danger and suspense was unreal in this one! Our two MCs were being hunted and seemed to only be able to stay a few steps ahead of those tracking them throughout the entire book. Was one of the men a shifter themselves or had someone somehow planted a tracking device on Phoebe?

Jonah was extremely talented at evading capture but, honestly, for him to know she was his fated mate, I kinda thought he was a jerk; Phoebe had all my sympathy. It wasn’t until near the end that he started acting like he cared for her at all and by then, I was already kinda put out with him.

The book was pretty good from a dramatic standpoint and I enjoyed that part with the suspense and all but the romance, for me, left something to be desired. 4 stars.

A simply wonderful read, great characters and scenario that holds you riveted
This was a simply wonderful read that I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of and I guarantee that you will also enjoy this as the final book in this series it was simply captivating.
Phoebe had unfortunately crashed her plane and also had injured herself and had relied on the assistance she had received from Jonah Locke a guide that is not a man with the sweetest disposition however he knows his way in the wilderness and is able to help Phoebe.
As they travel together, they have their ups and downs and also, they have the occasional cross word as well but as they spend more time together their bond begins to grow and Phoebe is introduced into a world, she has no knowledge whatso ever of.
As they get to know each other well they spend as much time together and their feelings for each other grow and am sure that you will love this book thoroughly and will be completely blown away by this wonderful story.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

Phoebe was a former Air Force test pilot and was requested to fly a new experimental stealth plane by her previous Commanding Officer. Everything going well, until small things cropped up like a radar flutter, altimeter going bonkers and destabilized horizon… looks like fears of sabotage correct, as crash landed plane… and whoever did this knew she wouldn't just walk away from crash site… she grabbed flight controller and emergency beacon and left plan… Jonah, a snow leopard shifter, was in the area looking for clues of what happened to his father when heard plane hitting trees and fire from jet fuel… got to scene and saw Phoebe… and his dizziness and weird feeling made him know was in presence of his fated mate… but there were already men looking for Phoebe, and wouldn't be Air Force yet, so he had to get her patched up enough to escape… but could they trust each other??? You will need to read this story to see what happens… I own a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

When an author starts out by thanking diet coke in the dedication, you know you're in for a good time.

His Lost Mate delivered everything I was hoping for from a shifter romance in a perfectly sized package. The author leads with vivid description to paint the setting: a dark, endless, unforgiving wilderness that humanity dares to trespass. Action draws you in within the first few pages, while skilled use of the English word provides a flowing narrative. The fated mate realization is exactly the gut punch you want if you're the kind of person who gobbles that up like I do.

Even from this distance, he could feel her presence like a storm pressing against his skin.

She was his. And nothing—not fear, not logic, not the walls he’d built around himself—would keep him from her now.

I found this book to be a perfect length, too--easy to digest and no extraneous details, yet everything that needed to be there was. I look forward to checking out some of the other books in this series.

A fabulous plotline, detailed and deep characters, and the aire of mystery continues to be the benchmark for Alaskan Tales series. Jonah and Pheobe, the main characters, both came to the story with haunted pasts, only to find themselves thrust into a life-or-death struggle which required them to examine their personal strengths as well as weaknesses. My heart hurt for them, Jonah in particular, as this struggle challenged them in ways they never could have expected.

Delta, as always, gives readers alarmingly detailed descriptions throughout. Not limited to of the wondrous and wild nature of Alaska, the detailed view of the emotional workings of her main characters has Delta squarely at the top of my list of favorite authors. It was a joy to read an advanced copy of this book and to provide this voluntary review. If you haven't started this series yet, you are missing out (and seriously, why haven't you started yet?!).

Shifter romance? Yes please.
Military romance? Yes please.
Military Shifter Romance? Ummm. Heck yes!

I’ve become a huge fan of Delta James’s shifter series. This is book 12 in the series. I was so excited to read this book because of the military aspect of it. Add in the espionage, shifter, and mates, and I’m already drooling. Even though it’s part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone book.

This was a 4 star read for me. Delta has improved her writing style so much since I began reading her work. This one does drag out a bit, BUT because of the nature of the events in the story, I TOTALLY get it. Parts just seemed a little repetitive? Having said that, I still can’t wait to read the next one!

Phoebe and Jonah were both locked into loneliness, stout walls to keep others out. Despite realizing Phoebe is his fated mate, Jonah tries to keep her at arm’s length but finds he can’t help but admire her grit and strength to keep up with him in spite of her injuries and unfamiliarity with the wilderness. Phoebe accepts Jonah’s help because she has no other option but at every turn, he’s protecting her and saving her life. Adversity brought them together and perhaps it needed to be that intense to get through their barriers. I really enjoyed these two. They were both so self-sufficient but became a team. Both had hurts in their past that made their walls feel necessary but their trust for each other was forged stronger. Good story, lots of action and danger.

When test pilot Phoebe Lawrence takes off in an experimental jet over Alaska, she has no idea her flight has been sabotaged. A crash landing puts her at the mercy of the elements… and the dangerous men in pursuit who have orders to silence her.

Jonah Locke, a wilderness guide and snow leopard shifter, hears the crash and reaches Phoebe first, discovering her injured but still alive. He also discovers his fated mate.

In the race to reach safety, Phoebe and Jonah must come to terms with the attraction between them, the secrets both feel bound to keep, and the need to discover who the mysterious men tracking them are and why they deliberately brought down Phoebe’s plane.

This short, steamy romance is sheer, page-turning adventure.

I really enjoyed this story! It kept me in suspense the whole time. Even though there wasn’t a lot of heart-pounding action, the fact that the characters were being chased really had me on the edge of my seat.

The male main character (MMC) truly made an impression on me. He has this quiet strength about him, and his arms feel like a safe haven from danger. The female main character (FMC) really recognizes that, which helps her stay determined and strong throughout their journey to safety. As they navigate themselves toward their freedom, truths are revealed, and bonds are forged.

What touched me the most were the FMC's thoughts after the MMC claimed her: she found herself fully living, her heart full, her soul complete. Because with Jonah, she felt free, cherished, and finally whole.

Phoebe is ex military piolet. She's asked to test flight a top secret plane that could change everything. As she's testing, things start to happen and she's being fired upon in the middle of the Alaskan wilderness. Her communications isn't working also, leaving her to believe sabotage. She crashes and survived. Jonah stumbles across the plane wreckage and finds Phoebe injured. Believing he should stay out of what's happening, he instead helps her because he knows she's his fated mate. Now they're on the run from a group of hunters wanting to get the black box from Phoebe and kill any witnesses to cover the sabotage. It'll take all of Jonah's survival skills and his snow leopard instincts to keep them alive.

Intriguing, action and danger packed, betrayal, sabotage, sexy snow leopard shifter, strong stubborn human woman, fated mates, and HEA.

Another 5 star tale. I love that while these are definitely happy endings they do have to work for them. There is always disbelief and then shock and sometimes fear (I mean wouldn’t you get scared if you had a large predator show up in the room) but then the acceptance and wonder starts to show up. Jonah was not ready and wasn’t sure he wanted a mate when he found Phoebe but with her in so much trouble he was left with not many options. Being the honorable man there really was nothing else he could do but of course be her man if the hour. Phoebe on the other hand not knowing who she could trust was uncertain. In the end the bad guys were caught and Jonah and Phoebe could start the next and better portion of their lives

I really enjoyed following Phoebe and Jonah's adventure to stay alive. There was some edge of my seat suspense as they kept one step ahead of the danger they were facing.

The romance wasn't as big a part of the story as the mystery behind the sabotage or Jonah's dad's death. Since those two things were connected, I wish they had been explained in more detail and wrapped up nicely.

I liked how the story ended because I didn't see Jonah and Phoebe's big move coming. I should say that although I anticipated it happening, I was surprised we were presented with the details. It was a fast-paced, romantic shifter short story.

Another interesting Alaskan story.

Former Army test pilot, Phoebe Lawrence is asked to fly an experimental plane. She crash-lands in Alaska’s unforgiving wilderness, suspecting sabotage. Jonah Locke finds her and together they run from the people trying to kill Phoebe.

But Jonah has a secret. He is as shifter. Armed assailants close in, but they manage to stay ahead of them and find a bond growing between them. Jonah realises that Phoebe is his Fated Mate.

With the armed assassins closing in, will they survive long enough to explore what lies between them?

I loved this story. It is fast paced and interesting.

When the classified plane phoebe is testing for the air force has a catastrophic failure she crashes somewhere in the Alaskan wilderness. Injured and afraid she retrieves the test flight equipment before she leaves the crash. People would kill for this equipment and she realizes her flight was sabotaged. Jonah smells the fire and oil and goes to check it out and when he sees her he knows she is his fated mate. He knows people will come after her when she tells him what happened. They must get away. This is the story of their harrowing journey to escape the killers after them. This was agreat premise for the story and I was rooting for them every step of the way. I love this series and find this author to be very entertaining and talented.

Phoebe is a very talented, intelligent and strong woman, called back to duty to run testing on experimental plane in Alaska. Someone fires on plane, engine failure, sabotaged, crash landing. Phoebe is lucky to survive. Jonah Locke is a snow leopard shifter, finds Phoebe injured and heads to safety. Jonah and Phoebe are fascinating together, they have many challenges to solve, enemies to defeat, and betrayals to solve. I was delighted and thrilled with their adventures and fascinated with their chemistry and happy endings. Couldn’t put it down. Wonderful reading

Phoebe is a pilot who was doing a test drive when basically the plane went down. She crashed in the wilderness of Alaska with severe injuries and praying that she makes it to the ones who could help her. Little did she know that Jonah who is her faded mate caught a whiff of her scent and is on the way. These two go through the Alaskan Wilderness and no matter what happens the action was on point. Both holding secrets. But that kind of changes when a dream comes to Phoebe about his shifting ability. Great read. We already know that the intensity of discovery that you have a shifter mate and you're not out of danger is what we live to read!

wonderful exciting fast paced short story about Phoebe and strong willed determined and feisty fighter pilot called in to specially test a classified jet and Jonah a shifter loner who sticks to himself in the alaskan wilderness and doesn't want to be around anyone. He is struggling to accept the death of his father and find answers to many questions he has surrounding his accident.

This story is filled with intrigue, danger, suspense, and more with richly detailed main characters and focuses quick a bit on their individual demons, emotions and trust issues they have within themselves and how to reconcile that with learning to trust each other in a life or death situation being strangers and trying to stay alive.
I received an arc copy and this is my honest voluntary review.

A wonderful read where you are drawn in from the very beginning. An amazing thrilling adventure awaits Phoebe. Though not what she was expecting.

As a military pilot she is entasked with an opportunity of a lifetime. She is the best of the best. Her assignment a straight forward endeavor, or so she thought.

Jonah, a lone recluse who lives for the wilderness senses her. The tingling, the need, the knowledge of the ultimate prize, awaits him.

Their journeys combined , but trust doesn't come easy for either of them. Survival is paramount. The growing need and desires complicating their very existence.

I am undoubtably addicted to Delta's work and Jonah and Phoebe's story is A+ 💜

The story moves pretty quickly since it is a novella. Phoebe crash lands an experimental plane in the Alaskan wilds. Jonah, a snow leopard shifter, is in the area and scents his mate. He gets her away just in time to avoid her being captured or murdered by mercenaries working for whoever sabotaged the plane. The two struggle to stay ahead of their pursuers who want the data recorder Phoebe removed from the plane...and to eliminate the loose ends. Phoebe is not sure who she can trust, those Jonah quickly wins her admiration. In the end they will have to take a big chance if they hope to survive. This is Phoebe and Jonah's story. Its action packed from start to finish. The romance blends into the story beautifully. The issue I had, and it's not an actual issue but I wanted it was interaction of Phoebe with Amelia and Carson and the ending not so rushed. How did Major Simpson know Johah's father? That aside, I realize this is a novella, but I felt a bit cheated on these short stories because part is rushed. This one, the emotional connection was there but could have been better if it was a bit longer. That's just me. I liked the novella. It has everything you would want in a story. Action, mystery (more than one was solved), steam to the eventual romance and of course the HEA they deserved.

I liked Phoebe. She is daring, smart, and determined. Pushing through pain to keep going. Jonah was hesitant to help at first but then he got a whiff of her scent and everything changed. I love that he was overbearing at times, yet he needed to protect her above all things.

Betrayal no one saw. The journey to their HEA was challenging.

The snow leopard finds his fated mate!!

“I know you’ve got your walls,” he said quietly. “I’ve got mine, too. But whatever this is between us, it’s real. And I’m done pretending it’s not.”

Action packed thriller with heat!! Phoebe is flying the Ghosthawk, an experimental aircraft when it is sabotaged. She is found at the crash site by Jonah, a snow leopard shifter who vows to protect his fated mate. But who is after her and why?? My only complaint is that Jonah kept his secrets very close to the chest which made it difficult for me to connect with him until 2/3 into the story. I voluntarily reviewed an author provided copy via BookSirens of this story.
