This is hardly rocket science! To be honest, if you’ve reached any sort of VSM/senior leadership role in the NHS you should know all of this already. (Maybe some don’t… maybe that’s another problem in the NHS?!) Had to laugh at the section on “Change Fatigue” though… that sums NHS Leadership up in two words! And the paralysis of uncertainty around the 2022 mergers… here we are in 2025 with ICBs forced to drastically cut costs but cutting workforce. Funnily enough you don’t do your best work when you have no idea if you’ll have a job (or a team to work with in my case) by the end of the year.
Might be useful if you’ve been parachuted in having literally never led anyone anywhere before, but otherwise it’s mostly stating the bleeding obvious!
