In the heart of winter, a quiet widow, a grieving roofer, and a runaway girl with a troubled past must find a way to heal—or risk losing the love they never expected to find.
Widowed and cautious, Dorothy Fischer has built a life of solitude on her farm, her heart still bound by the memory of her late husband. But when she find a girl who calls herself Lily hiding in her barn, Dorothy is drawn into a life that suddenly feels much too big to face alone. She offers the girl shelter, but with every passing day, the weight of their shared grief becomes harder to ignore.
Caleb Yoder arrives to repair Dorothy's roof, and his quiet strength and kindness begin to break through the walls she’s built around herself. But as sparks fly between them, Dorothy finds herself torn—can she trust Caleb with her heart, or is she too broken to love again?
And as she helps the runaway begin to trust, Dorothy must also confront the fear of losing the family she never thought she could have. Together, they must navigate the shadows of their pasts and find a way to move forward—or risk losing everything they’ve started to build. In this moving and heartfelt romance, three people learn that healing is a journey, and sometimes the love you least expect is the one that saves you. A clean and wholesome Amish story from Mary Lantz
A widow finds a runaway in her barn. She takes her in and takes care of her. The roof on her house is in desperate need of repair. A widower comes to repair the roof and a friendship forms. The friendship includes the runaway. And a bond among the three becomes very important. It's a very good book.
I loved the story line but I just wanted to know what happens to Amanda? Did you and Caleb get to adopt her and if so how long did it take? What about where she came from and the others girls she knew?
