Oof. This book made me feel all the feels. Clarissa was one of those FMCs that made me want to wrap her in a big warm hug. As an RN who used to work medsurg, then neuro step down, I saw a lot of caregiver burn out, and I felt that this book portrayed it very well. It's hard on both the caregiver, and the one receiving care. I loved Tom, and the way he stepped in and helped support not only Clarissa, but also Rachele, was very significant. Tom is ALL THE GREEN FLAGS. The magic system in this book was unique, and very interesting. I loved every moment.

This is an ARC read for me, received for an honest review.

Diners, Damsels & Wolves is equal parts sweet and spicy.

The hesitancy, the push and pull within Clarissa’s mind as she becomes more involved with the new man in her life brought a touch of relatability to this supernatural story. All that she had been through, and the massive responsibilities she continued to carry weighed heavy on her as she navigated the possibilities that strolled into her life via a handsome man named Tom. I admired her inner struggle. She valued the importance of her role as her aunt’s caretaker while desiring to find just an ounce of happiness. The guilt that consumed her felt all-too-familiar, so I was greatly invested in her journey.

The supernatural aspects of this story were a lot of fun. I enjoyed the shifter dynamics, as they offered a sense of community, and within enemy territory, an offering of dread and curiosity.

This story played out beautifully, handing this reader a bounty of intrigue, depth, compassion, and amusement.

Margot Primrose never lets me down. 🖤

Supernatural, feuds, learning to trust, and hot spice with lots of heart.

I believe this is the first book from this author and it was really good. The story pulled me in and I really felt for the characters. I loved that we got to know them before the spice. It made it that much better. I hope we get more books like this.

The reason I gave it 4 stars could be because of what I like personally, but it might be what a lot of others think so I thought it was worth writing about it. The story was great, it really pulled me in. I just devoured the book. I just had 2 things that are not my normal jam, but it could be yours! The first was that for almsot the first half of the book she shys away from him and has hard time trusting. Flinches when he touches her due to her past, not him. But the first time she doesn't flinch they go from first kiss to in bed in like 2 pages the other issue I had was at the very end. He is a shifter, she is not. Even though he is a wolf shifter it is supposedly humanoid. Maybe I am just picturing in my head wrong. But they do it when he is shifted. Just not my thing.

This book is the first in the series (hopefully we get more!) and can be read as a complete stand alone.

This was an ARC review for me! Our FMC Clarissa works herself to the bone while having to care for her sick aunt. Our MMC Thomas is the reluctant Alpha to his wolf shifter pack. I was pulled in to the supernatural underground world, just as Clarissa unknowingly was, when a mysterious good Samaritan saves her from a bad situation one night. When their paths cross again, she may have to rethink everything she has ever known to be true. Clarissa was relatable for me in my earlier years, and Thomas was just amazing for her and helped her see that she deserves love too . I loved their story and if you love a good wolf shifter romance, you will too!

Rating: 3/5
Spice: 2/5
POV: Dual 3rd

DDW has a good blend of romance and plot drama, what with the shifters feud and Clarissa having to overcome her insecurities in order to accept Tom in her life. Some things did not work for me personally, but for a reader new to the paranormal genre, it was a light enough book to be a good starting point. I love that the MCs are in their 30s.

3.5 rounded up to 4. Pretty typical pararomcom. I liked it well enough. Clarissa is the damaged human FMC and Tom the "forced to be " alpha of the local werewolf pack. It's a bit instalove, but i like fluff so i was fine with that, I liked the progression of their relationship. I like the book enough to go on to the next in the series.

I’m so glad I was asked to ARC read this. A good shifter book is a great palette cleanser for me. This was sweet and spicy. You get fun times in his wolf form and I’m all here for that!

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book! It's not my usual read, but that's what drew me in when I had the chance to be an ARC reader/reviewer.

This story is a delightful mix of sweet, spicy, and a touch of darkness (especially in the last third of the book).

Clarissa is an overworked, lonely waitress trying to make ends meet and care for her aunt, who has been diagnosed with dementia. She's guarded and untrusting due to past trauma, but she's kind-hearted and stronger than she realizes.

Thomas is the mysterious stranger who comes to her rescue after she's attacked in a parking lot one night. Thrust into the role of Alpha of his pack after his father is injured, Thomas knows what it's like to have the weight of the world on his shoulders and can relate to Clarissa on a deeper level.

Drawn together by the attack, the two slowly start to break down Clarissa's walls and her fear of getting close. Her past trauma has left her scarred, both physically and emotionally, and this story is one of loss and healing. I enjoyed the supernatural element of this sweet love story.

Thomas is a protective alpha male, but not an alpha-hole like so many MMC’s. I appreciate that he's a genuinely good, caring guy who truly wants to know Clarissa and treat her with kindness and love.

The story does have some dark elements, starting with her attack and becoming more twisted in the latter half of the book, so be aware of your triggers. The supernatural underground lore is a bit different from what you might be used to if you read other shifter books. I'm not entirely sure if I liked the lore surrounding the shifters, but it was an interesting take.

The only thing I didn't like about this book is the title. I think it missed the mark and could have been better than a weird play on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. That being said, I enjoyed the side characters in the diner, both staff and customers. They are supportive and protective of Clarissa, as is Sheriff Greg, who is a great character despite his small role.

Overall, I highly recommend this if you like love stories with a good MMC, a strong and resilient FMC, supernatural elements, and some spice!

Diners, Damsels & Wolves by Margot Primrose is a must-read for anyone who loves shifter romances, small-town charm, struggling caretakers, and broody MMCs determined to break generational curses.

At its heart, this is an emotionally touching slow-burn romance between Clarissa Roberts and Thomas Sinclaire, set in a quintessential Midwestern town. As a small-town Midwesterner myself, I felt right at home in Primrose’s world. Her vivid descriptions bring that cozy, everyone-knows-your-business atmosphere to life—even city dwellers will feel like they've spent a lifetime in a place with one diner, one bar, and just enough drama to keep things interesting.

Clarissa is the kind of FMC that hits you in the feels. She’s exhausted, overworked, and barely keeping it together while caring for her sick aunt. Romance? Not on her to-do list. But fate has other plans when she’s attacked after a late shift at the local bar—only to be rescued by a good Samaritan who turns out to be a whole lot more than just a helpful stranger.

Enter Thomas Sinclaire: reluctant Alpha, reluctant hero, reluctant believer in his own worth. Forced into leadership after his father’s injury, Thomas wants nothing to do with the toxic traditions of his pack. His goal? Lead differently, fight the curse of their past, and not become the arrogant, domineering Alpha stereotype. When he hears a woman’s screams in the night, his protective instincts kick in—but he doesn’t expect the consequences of saving Clarissa. Because her attacker? He’s not just some random creep—he’s part of the supernatural underworld, and now Clarissa is tangled in a pack war she didn’t even know existed.

Will Clarissa learn to trust Thomas before she and her aunt become casualties in the feud? And will Thomas prove he’s the kind of Alpha who can protect the people he loves—without becoming the monster he fears?

With a perfect blend of heart, heat, and high stakes, Diners, Damsels & Wolves delivers an addictive mix of romance and supernatural tension. If you love slow-burns with strong emotional depth, reluctant heroes, and small-town shifter drama, this one belongs on your TBR.

Please see this book was given to me so kindly by the author in exchange for my honest review 🩷

This book was SUCH a gem. The perfect mix of tension, heartache and spice.
The book revolves around Clarissa, a woman in her 30s working tirelessly to make money to live and take care of her sick aunt who has always been HER caretaker. One night in a parking lot after work she is saved by a man named Thomas who just so happens to also be the Alpha of a wolf shifter pack who lives in the area. Little does she know meeting Thomas is going to unravel not only chaos happening within the town, but also her heart.

I really loved this book. There was tension that kept me at the edge of my seat and wondering what was going to happen next. For all the heavy weight on his shoulders, Thomas was such a good guy, caring and thoughtful, and always stuck his neck out for everyone around him.
Clarissa my heart ached for. Although I've never been in her position as a caretaker to that degree, I know what it feels like to feel stuck in your life. Just spinning your wheels trying to keep your head above the water. Even when it seemed hopeless she never gave up and I LOVE a strong female lead who picks herself up and dusts herself off and keeps pushing. Although as do I, she also struggled with being able to ask those around her for help when she needed it, so she was strong and not without fault. Both characters felt so real that you just want to jump in the book and help somehow. Give Clarissa a hug. Cook her and Rachel dinner.

It was also really refreshing to have main characters of a book my age. Although it doesn't bother me or anything reading about characters in their 20s most of the time, it's a rare and beautiful treasure to be right there with them age wise because you can relate that much more.

Overall I'd absolutely 100% recommend this book if you're into shifter romance or even if you aren't, I think you'd really enjoy it. It's got that small town love and feel with just enough questions and tension to keep you glued to the story.

For me reading this book was like reading Twilight again, but instead of teenager I was reading about adults as both main characters are in their 30´s and instead of vampires I was reading about wolves shifters.

In this book we follow Clarissa as she is trying to survive. She is working like crazy trying to make ends meet and to care for her sick aunt. When all of the sudden she mets a good samaritan, Tom, in the most weird way possible. And from there something between them starts to grow. She will have to deal with her day to day life, her sick aunt and a bunch of supernatural stuff.

This was overall a fun book, perfect for when you are having the nostalgia for the first time you read Twilight. It has its differences of course but it also had a ton of similarities. And that is what made it fun for me.

Other good thing was that the characters were in their 30´s and I can relate a bit more to them than I do with other characters that are a bit younger. However they feel a bit plain for my taste. And the whole romance plot felt forced and rushed in my opinion. Though it was fun enough to keep me invested.

Plot-wise the book was entertaining but the first 60% was slower than I would have liked and the lat 40% were all the action happened was to rushed. I think the whole thing with the action could have a bit longer rather than dragging the whole getting to know each other for 1 week that felt like a month.

I liked the pack dynamics and I think that if the story continues, as a note at the end of the book hints at, it could be very cool to see how they go about it. I would like to know more about a few of the characters in the pack. And the dynamics and politics with the rest of the shifters and paranormal creatures feels like it could be really fun to learn about .

Overall it was a fun read. And I think you would enjoy it if you are into the paranormal romance genre.

I'm a fan of small town romances, so one with shifters as well? Automatically sold. This is a good story - it really picks up around the 70% mark as the drama intensifies, but all round it's a very sweet romance between an FMC who's trying her hardest in very difficult circumstances and an MMC who is just desperate to get it right.

There are some dark moments in this story - actually, the whole book hangs on them, but they don't necessarily get the weight and emotional consequence they deserve. I don't mind dark subject matter, but if it's going to happen I want to feel how the emotional impact bleeds out into the rest of story. I don't want to give specifics as this is an advance review, but terrible things have happened in this community (and are happening again) and I would have liked to have a sense of how the community and our MCs are processing it, rather than just be told that it makes our MMC angry or uncomfortable. More dread, more behaviour patterns that reflect the community's trauma, please. I also felt that I needed more of an understanding of why bears act the way that they do - they're evil, but calculating, and I struggled a bit with that there was no real interrogation of what causes them to act the way that they do. Had they goals beyond causing trouble? What where they?

Now, to be clear, I enjoyed this book. I liked the world we were living in, and I enjoyed both the MCs characters and how they worked together. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series and seeing how Margot Primrose will grow in confidence as a writer. A lovely addition to my collection of shifter books!

I read an advance copy of this book. My thoughts are very much my own.

This was a very good book, especially since it appears to be a first book for this author. Clarissa was a relatable character for me, having been in the caretaker role myself, and Primrose really captured the exhaustion, anxiety, and determination that role requires. Tom was a strong, protective Alpha who saved Clarissa's life when she was attacked in a parking lot late at night. There were a few key elements missing for me, however. Tom seemed head over heels for Clarissa from the beginning with no explanation of where that came from. The background for Clarissa's reluctance to be in a relationship wasn't given in depth, just some vague reference to high school bullies until close to the end of the book. The story had a lot of spice and heat which was nice until the last scenario (ick). I would have liked a lot more character development for Clarissa and Tom, but also for some of the other important characters, like Rachel, Maria, Sam, and Sara (although I hope her character will show more depth in the next book that centers on her). I also felt the ending was a bit rushed, as if the author wasn't quite sure how to show how and why Clarissa was so quickly accepted into the pack after pushing the storyline that Alphas shouldn't marry humans. There could have been a bit more to the story of Rachel and Greg's reignited love story instead of all of a sudden they're getting married.
All in all, not at all a bad book for a first effort. Choosing shifters as the paranormals rather than werewolves was a fresher approach and the action near the end was tense and well written. I will read the next book in this series because I'm interested in seeing if this author lives up to her potential.

I really enjoyed this book. It is a sweet story that had some intrigue and drama and spice. The writing style and tempo were a bit different and my brain liked that.

Clarissa is a 31 year old human living (barely) paycheque to paycheque with her aunt who was diagnosed with early onset dementia. Tom/Thomas is a 35 year old wolf shifter who is the new(ish) pack Alpha trying to do better than and right the wrongs of those who came before him.

Clarissa and Tom meet when he saves her from a creepy dude/bear. He starts coming to the diner where she works every day. She starts to like his visits. He works on building her trust. She tries to stay safe. Things progress and cool off and progress and cool off and ... you get the picture. It is a good picture. (and a believable picture given Clarissa's history)

Clarissa has been through some unbelievably horrific things in her life, so it is very understandable that she is hesitant to trust and believe people. She broke my heart when she shared her past and her struggles and the challenges of being her aunt's caregiver. She was so precious and deserved to be safe and taken care of. And she deserved to find happiness.

If you are a fan of shifter stories, you cannot go wrong with this one. It is an interesting take on the shifter world and I liked the characters.

I received this as ARC and am so happy for the opportunity and my review is based on my thoughts & feelings and is not influenced by the free book. I love finding new to me authors and am looking forward to reading more of Margot's stories.

OH. MY. GOD. This book was absolutely PHENOMINAL! Clarissa is just trying to get by in the way that so many of us are. She's working herself to the bone at a diner in rural Kentucky, living in a double wide that's falling apart, and caring for her Aunt with a Dementia-like ailment. She lost the remainder of her family in her youth, and is guarded and suspicious of others in a way that felt so authentic and genuine. She also processes her trauma in a way that made perfect sense to me and there were so many small moments that made her feel like such a whole, real person. I genuinely love stories of FMC'S who are struggling and finally catch a break. Clarissa is strong and independent and resilient.

I've put some distance between myself and a lot of wolf shifter books, because the misogyny and bullying just feels too human and real. This book kept all the best parts of shifter dynamics without the hopelessness that often accompanies pack life. Tom is a reluctant alpha, taking in strays, and working hard to create a better future for the pack. He's surrounded by loving friends and family and was a patient and attentive partner to Clarissa, who desperately needed someone to actually stop and see her.

I was so sad when this book was over (because I wanted more!) and I can't wait for the next installment in the series!

I’m always a sucker for small town and shifters together. There’s something about it that gives twilight but also classic movie vibes. I really enjoyed the story, I loved Thomas right from the start. I love besotted man ready to woo his girl and win her affections through grand gestures. That’s definitely the key to my heart. I connected with Clarissa having to take on so much responsibility and not having anyone take care of her like she takes care of others. I loved seeing her start to relax and have hope again. The scenes with Rachel were so heart wrenching, I feel like those were done especially well and realistic.

The spice was amazing, not too much of it so it definitely wasn’t the main focus. Clarissa has scars, both physical and emotional, so seeing Tom care for them was especially sweet. On the other hand, I am not a fan of third act breakups and angst in the back end of books. I personally like when things are worked out in the beginning and then the last 60 pages is sweetness and spice. The last third wasn’t my favorite, the ending was cute but I would’ve liked to see more healing and such after Clarissa accepts him. I had such a good time with the first 2 thirds I can overlook that though, so a solid 4 stars for me!

This is an ARC Review!

I am such a sucker for a good werewolf shifter story.
I liked that this book didn't focus on the pack dynamics, though. And focused more on the outlying plot.

Which was so good! And it had me trying to put the pieces together the whole time. So when everything finally clicked, I was so happy!

There's a good amount of tension and high stakes in this one that keep hold of you the whole book, too.
There were definitely a few moments when I had to hold my breath in anticipation!

Clarissa deserved Tom.
She deserved to be taken care of and deserved attention and love and time to heal.
And Tom WAS PERFECT 😭😭😭
I loved him so much.

I loved that Tom was patient and gentle, and even with miscommunication and the tension, he was just so good for her. I could tell Clarissa needed someone like him to help boost her up. To be her rock. And even if Tom didn't think he could be a good Alpha, he really stepped up and I think he proved to himself that he could do it. I think he needed Clarissa, who saw him as just Tom, to remind him that he was still himself even with the new title.

Overall this one is definitely worth the read if you like werewolf shifters, with a good bit of tension and emotion!

The story, the characters, the beautiful writing, the world-building, and the spice—all of it intertwined perfectly to create this book. Primrose, with this being her debut novel, delivered an incredible first release as an author.

We begin with Clarissa, who takes care of her aunt with dementia while working extra shifts at a café to keep their home afloat. One night, after leaving work late, she is attacked by a man—only to be rescued by Thomas. From that moment, Thomas falls for her and begins courting her. Unbeknownst to her, Clarissa is pulled into the supernatural world, where secrets start unraveling, and conflicts between shifters and bears begin to rise.

Everything the FMC has carried on her shoulders for years is truly remarkable. She’s a well-developed character who, despite being new to relationships, tries her best to do the right thing. Thomas, on the other hand, is a true gentleman in every sense—attentive, kind, and practically made to be the perfect man.

The story delves into themes of depression, trauma, mental illness, and supernatural underground keeping the reader fully immersed with its intrigue and depth.

Diners, Damsels, and Wolves is a paranormal fantasy book that follows a FMC called Clarissa. Clarissa lives with her aunt and is her aunt's caretaker. She has a very traumatic past and is incredibly resilient, she doesn't really let anything bring her down. Throughout the story, we see her in a few situations where her resilience really shines through. Honestly, she is very relatable and likable. I loved that through everything she was always powering through and never seemed to give up.

The MMC is Thomas, he is the Alpha of the small town's wolf shifter pack, though he never wanted that role, and he is determined to break generational curses. Talk about swoony!

WOW! I haven't stopped thinking about this book since I finished it! I absolutely loved the author's writing style, character development, and the supernatural underground! The supernatural aspects were very interesting. I loved that the characters were in their 30's!

10/10 recommend to people who like paranormal romances.

Tom is the head of the family. He is also the oldest in his family so it made sense to take over after his father’s accident. He didn’t think going to a dinner after hours would change his life for the better.
Clarissa is a waitress at the local diner by day and takes care of her only family her aunt alone. Her aunt Rachel was diagnosed with early onset dementia but Clarissa isn’t so sure that’s really it. She is clear headed but not at times. She is also set on junior high school years for either herself or Clarissa. So life can be interesting. Add in Clarissa’s burn insecurities you have a full plate.
Now with rouge bear shifters in the area that are nothing but trouble. One attacks Clarissa on the same night Tom goes to check out a shifters presence in town. A knight in shining armor turns into the one male for her. It takes a lot of courage and timing to get these two together but this stories is so good.

This book was fine, and there were some funny moments, but I’m mostly disappointed with how underdeveloped the supernatural world was (no one seemed to know anything, including the wolves, until they needed to, which was mostly at the end) and how Clarissa’s interactions with the pack members are just listed in the epilogue.

Donna’s two brief appearances at the beginning were funny as was the reason for the misunderstanding between Clarissa and Tom .

I didn’t like how Maria obviously discovers important information which Tom doesn’t want to listen to and instead of just saying what she found, she just keeps telling him to listen to her. Also, bears are supposed to be stronger and have other abilities, but .

Holy emotion.

Clarissa, baby, you’re so strong.

I can’t imagine what it’s like to have to take care of your sick family member. Your only family.

She works her ass off to provide for them, often going with less to make sure Rachel is taken care of.

One night she is saved from a creep by a good samaritan, Thomas. A hot wolf shifter who is the reluctant alpha of his pack. He is immediately enamored by her and comes by Donnas Diner often so he can get to know her.

This story, was beautiful. I can’t believe this is Margo’s debut! I was so happy for both of them. I feel like they reminded each other that they both needed more, they needed to remember to live their lives.

This story was equally beautiful and emotional. The build up was amazing and I’m so excited to get to read more from her in the future!

The Main things I liked; Ginger MMC love (Tom was such a sweet gentleman), MMC + FMC in their 30s, Adorable Queer side couple, the diner/small town setting, Tom's mixed feelings about being Alpha, Greg and Rachel's Ending (s0 cute!)

Overall Diners, Damels & Wolves was the kind of read that feels like a warm blanket and a nice coffee and on a winter's morning, it was lengthy but it allowed you to get such a good feel for the setting and characters that even with the length, more wouldn't have felt too much. I liked the third person it was a nice switch up from 1st and I like that even though Clarissa was the 'damsel' she was still her own person, she worked hard and took no shit. D, D & W is a good solid wolf shifter read with a good small-town vibe and an FMC that reminded me of True Blood's Sookie Stackhouse.

This was a great debut novel with a good amount of tension, realistic characters, and heat!

I really enjoyed the mystery storyline which added a lot of suspense to the novel. And Clarissa was a really relatable character in the way she was dong her best despite the bumps life has thrown in her path. Thomas was a such a swoon-worthy wolf shifter who is torn between his duty to his pack and his growing attraction to the beautiful woman in danger from a world she knows nothing about.

The mystery, the world building and the romance were absolute highlights of the book for me. I really enjoyed the back and forth of the relationship and the tension of both their attraction and the storyline. And the slower burn to the romance was worth wait for the spicy payoff!

very cute

Very cute story. I liked the pacing through the majority of the book. I appreciate how past situations were handled when they needed to be repeated. My biggest pet peeve is explaining it over and over unnecessarily. I love that the author trusted her audience to have a memory better than a goldfish. I wish there was more to the climax and a bit more to Rachel and Clarissa’s lives after the climax of the story. So much was put into the lead up and their lives i just wanted more a little more at the end. I do get it was more a romance and less an action so that’s probably why it was don’t that way, but it feels a bit unfinished without a bit more. Again it’s still a good story, very cute.

I was gifted an ARC copy of Diners, Damsels & Wolves and it did not disappoint! Clarissa is a strong FMC who has a lot of responsibility on her shoulders due to the fact that she is taking care of her sick aunt and that’s been her life for the last decade. She picks up extra shifts at the diner she works at and puts her life on the back burner and it’s all she knows up until the night she meets our lumberjack MMC Thomas, aka her night in shining armor. If you love a shifter romance, a man who yearns, touch her and die, spice, and a strong female lead.. then you will LOVE DD&W! 💖🐺

Honest Review for an Early Copy

What a lovely book! I really liked this story of Clarissa, Thomas, and the family of 'not mobsters' (iykyk).

This third person POV story blends contemporary, supernatural, and a smidgen of darkness. Without sharing spoilers, the reader spends a majority of the time following Clarissa, a waitress in a small town diner, struggle in a small town life while taking care of her aunt. She meets a lot of new people along the way, one being Thomas, and tries to find out what Thomas is hiding.

DDW has a happy ending, with an open door relationship, with.... 4? spicy scenes, I think.

End of book spoilers-ish:
I LOVE the ending with the magic and the saving and the touch her and die. I think the ending is the most perfect ending.

It was well-written but I found it to be very boring. It was very slow as well. I had to keep putting it down and read snippets of other books, play games on my phone, or look for something else more interesting to do - even scrub our toilets - to be fair, it was a new scrub brush and I was curious to know how well it cleaned - but, still, a toilet scrub brush cleaner held more interest for me than this book did.

I absolutely devoured this book! Perfect for those that love paranormal romance with lots of plot and a little bit of spice.
The main character Clarissa is 31 and is a caretaker for her ill aunt in a small town, and works at a local diner.

Can’t wait for the other books that are coming in the same universe! 🐺🔮💘

This was a great book!

My only complaint was it was a touch slow at the beginning but once it picked up, it sucked me in! Tom was adorable and Clarissa was a great female main character. I loved the spicy scenes and the action scenes were great. I do wish there was a touch more backstory about Clarissa’s parents and more in depth exploration of them! Great read!
