Matt is aware of what could happen if he decides to jump a freight--he knows it's dangerous; he also knows he can't stay at home anymore, not with so many mouths to feed, and watching the trains every morning isn't helping matters. It's not until Matt encounters Danny, an injured freight jumper, that he has to make a to stay, or to run.
