Kind of a neat concept, but not really fleshed out very fully. The idea is the compare specific photos of "then" (any time more than 50 or 60 years ago) with similar recreated photos of "now." There are some wonderful ones: women railroad workers from 1918 facing their counterparts from 1990, a northern TN juke joint from 1920 and a current club, Tupperware parties from the '50s and the '90s.

I just wanted a lot more, I guess. Less industry, frankly, more people stuff. All the industry pages were boring. To me.

A glorious pictorial view of "Then and Now" Americana. Susan Wels does a superb job associating quotes and text to the pages that come alive today regardless of the era in which the photographs were taken. What a splendid way to live in the past for the few moments it takes to gaze at these old photos that capture the significant along with the seemingly insignificant moments in time.

A great look at how much things have changed and in some cases, have stayed very much the same. Great photographs and ample information describing the event.
