Hibernation
In short, "Listening to the Silence" is about several episodes in the life of mountain climber Stéphanie Bodet in Le Carol (April 2021), Buoux (April 2018), Vaugines (March 2021 and January 2023), most of which deal with a fundamental need for profound peace.
During these stays in natural retreats, Stéphanie reacquaints herself with a rhythm more in keeping with the passing of seasons, the solar cycle, preserved from the drone of humdrum life. On the way, she meets Father Christian, chaplain of the Carthusian monastery of Le Reposoir, a widow renting a shoddy room to her in Finistère, the female leader of a collective in a TAZ (Temporary Autonomous Zone) on the Mourre Nègre, in Vaucluse...
In sum, this work deals with mountain climbing, how to pay attention to little things during your walks, gardening, inventing your own rhythms - what I call the creation of personal rites and heresies - the drawbacks and virtues of changing places be it geographically or personally...
