Blurb Tameron

Losing my hearing has far more consequences than I expected.

The physical part is frustrating and annoying, but the emotional part is so much harder. I don’t belong anywhere anymore, always an outsider.

And now there’s Dayton, the older, sexy firefighter who keeps popping up everywhere I go. At my gym, in my house, in my dreams.

Wait, why am I dreaming about him?

I don’t even like him—though that doesn’t seem to be mutual.

Surprisingly, Dayton understands my struggles better than anyone else, and before I realize what’s happening, he’s decided we’re friends.

Except I’m not sure I’m satisfied with just friendship anymore…

Accepting that I’m bi is easy, but why does the man I fall for have to be Dayton?

Tameron is the third book in the Honorably Discharged Series, which can be read as standalones but are much more fun read in order. It features a veteran trying to find where he belongs, a firefighter chief who knows what he wants, an age gap, one-sided dislike meets crush, found family, and a steamy happily ever after.

Would you like the long or the short version of my bio?

The short? You got it.

I write steamy gay romance books and I love it. I also love reading books. Books are everything.

How was that?

A little more detail? Gotcha.

I started writing my first stories when I was a teen…on a freaking typewriter. I still have these, and they’re adorably romantic. And bad, haha. Fear of failing kept me from following my dream to become a romance author, so you can imagine how proud and ecstatic I am that I finally overcame my fears and self doubt and did it. I adore my genre because I love writing and reading about flawed, strong men who are just a tad broken..but find their happy ever after anyway.

My favorite books to read are pretty much all MM/gay romances as long as it has a happy end. Kink is a plus… Aside from that, I also read a lot of nonfiction and not just books on writing. Popular psychology is a favorite topic of mine and so are self help and sociology.

Hobbies? Ain’t nobody got time for that. Just kidding. I love traveling, spending time near the ocean, and hiking. But I love books more.

5 “we’re perfect for each other” stars

I would have waited for you forever.
Thank you. I’ll spend the rest of my life making it worth the wait.

I rated four books 5 stars this year, two of them are part of this series. Let this be your hint that I am absolutely obsessed with everything this series has to offer.

I was so excited to get my hands on this book, since the second I started the first book in the series, a month ago. I just knew that this book would deliver everything I love in a book, and I was so right. You can ask my friends, they will be able to tell you how many times I annoyed them by stating how excited I was to read this book.

Mini-Blurb:
Tameron was in an accident while on military duty that left him with permanent hearing loss that keeps rapidly declining, and he is trying to adjust. He wants to hate Dayton, the hot firefighter that keeps crossing his path. But Dayton is a patient man, and he is determined to wait it out until Tameron is ready to be his.

“You made me work for you, Tam. Your attention, your affection, your love. I was honored.”

Tameron was so jaded and angry at first. He did not want to let anyone in, and he was prickly to anyone who approached him. But Dayton is a fixer and all he wanted was to get to know Tameron and to be able to support him. Their dynamic was just so good to me. There are so many times while reading that I caught myself smiling or squealing at something that they had said or thought about each other. Dayton is pining after Tameron from page 1 and is ready to be anything just to be in his orbit and that’s exactly how I prefer my bookish men, so I was in heaven. There was just something about the combination of Tameron with the chip on his shoulders that did not want to let anyone in and Dayton, with his infinite amount of patience and his understanding that just wanted to be there for him that absolutely made this book for me. These two fell in low slowly through all of the mountains that they climbed together and it was just so lovely to read about.

I loved the bisexual awakening aspect of this book. Tameron always thought he was straight, but he started thinking he might not be after he kept fantasizing about Dayton. I loved how Tameron was more than ok with being bi, he just didn’t want to be into Dayton. That’s the kind of dynamics I just cannot get enough of, and it was just so well done in this one. Their chemistry was sizzling off the page through every interaction that they had and the more they interacted, the better it got.

“I realized you’re my home. You’re the only one I can truly be myself with. I never have to fear you rejecting me because you won’t. You love me the way I am, with or without hearing, grumpy or not, with all my stubbornness.”

I loved how this book tackled the topic of how scary it is when everything in your life is changing and how hard it is to adjust to change. It’s a topic I can very much relate to, and I just loved reading how this book tackled it. Navigating life is hard and messy and this book showed this part so vividly.

As mentioned, Tameron was in an accident that left him deaf, and his hearing keeps declining. I loved how all the descriptions of this included in the book. I loved how we got to read about Tameron wearing his hearing aids and we got to see the perks and the rougher moments of wearing them. We also got to see his struggles with learning ASL and to learn more about the language and I thought it was absolutely fascinating to read about. I loved how we got to hear about his vertigo and the dizzy spells that were a side effect of his hearing loss. Every member of Dayton’s immediate family, but him, is deaf, so he knowns a lot about accessibility and tricks to help navigate the world and I loved learning about all of them.

Overall, this was the perfect characters, the perfect couple and the perfect book for me and I just adored it.

Thank you so much for the ARC of this book!

I loved this book, it's very close to being my favourite in the series so far, even with Tameron doing his best to make his own life more difficult than it already was because of his stubborn nature!

However, I did also completely understand him as well, and, while I'm not Deaf, I have dealt with a life-changing incident which forced me to re-evaluate everything moving forward, so I had endless empathy for him.

Dayton is the perfect man for him, not just because of his own innate kindness and his service attitude, being a firefighter Battalion Chief, but also because he's grown up signing as he's a child of Deaf parents with twin Deaf siblings.

As ever with these authors, the disability rep is 100% spot on, but it's more than just that - this book demonstrates beautifully how challenges don't have to define someone's path in a single way, that opportunities will still arise that make you take leaps of faith, and that you can ultimately live a rich and fulfilled new life.

The bisexual awakening is also handled with care, again, as I'd expect with this pair of writers, and it was really sweet to see Tameron waking up not only to his sexual attraction to Dayton, but also the dawning realisation that he's his home in every way that counts.

Now there's just Nash to go, and I'm pretty sure we're getting an age gap romance with Creek's younger brother Forrest and I am so here for that!

#ARC kindly received from the authors, I am voluntarily leaving a review

The first installment in the series is the best one so far, then it's this one, then Bean. I'm just here to get to Nash's story, the rest are pretty lukewarm and considering we've had 3 books to really flesh out Nash's character, I'm really hoping he gets a much better book than all the rest (were).

🔵 A chief firefighter/an army vet
🟣 Bisexual / bi-awakening
🟢 Age gap 29/43
🟡 Found family
🟠 Deaf/hearing, a bit of hurt/comfort
🌶️ Sex was pretty good, a few descriptive scenes; rimming, oral, frotting, penetrative; both vers

Dayton is Nash's friend and a Chief at the fire station Nash also works at. He lives with his deaf brother, but Dayton is hearing. He's mature, understanding, compassionate, just an all around great guy, I really liked him. He's damn hot too, so that could've been much more utilized, it's where I thought we were going at first, I thought Tameron's bi-awakening was going to be fireworks considering what Dayton's like, but it was more of a slow, steady, careful - which is fine, I just expected more sex. More passion.

The love story wasn't as developed. Dayton has a crush on Tameron, he's pining and Tameron is just stepping his toe in a little bit in Dayton's direction and then backing out. All the time. Weeks pass and nothing happens, so their connection was somewhat hard to get into. I loved the sex, but that's pretty much all there was between them. Dayton wanted to deepen the connection, but Tameron was too fickle and undecided and suddenly he was having the epiphany of loving Dayton

“I’m in love with Dayton,” I said slowly, my voice filled with wonder. “Jesus, Mary, and Joseph… I’m in love with Dayton.”

wasn't really that believable. It was more of an epiphany of wanting him than anything else.

I also didn't really get a sense of Tameron, just like I didn't with Bean. I don't like both of their stories. They're too predictable and one of the main characters not as fleshed out, every time. Instead of bringing in so many side characters, how about focusing more just on the main couple?

I overall don't like the storytelling.
I don't know these authors that well so I can't say whose style dominates this book, but it's substantially different from the last one, which really sucked.

Here's to hoping Nash's book will be way, way better.

I loved it as much as the first two. Loved the Deaf world and the different stages and places of deaf society and how everyone fit in it, it gave the story another layer of richness that really appealed to me

3.5⭐️ - I like how the author(s) highlights the discrimination (maybe this isn’t really the right word) within the deaf community (i.e. being generationally deaf versus hard of hearing or having cochlear implants). I enjoyed the plot a lot and so much so that I wish there were less smutty scenes.

A lot of Tameron's mental health issues resonated deeply with me, which was both uncomfortable and nice.

The actual story was medium; my favorite part continues to be the found family more than the romance.

Additionally, I find it interesting to learn more about Deaf culture (with the knowledge that this is a fictional book and not educational).

I liked it, but it won't make it to the top of my favorites list.

"You made me work for you, Tam. Your attention, your affection, your love." He looked upset again, so I leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to the corner of his mouth. "I was honoured."

Tameron is a fantastic addition to the Honorably Discharged series. The series deals with different disabilities with compassion and respect. There seems to a common theme of having the characters find their place in the world, with their person by there side. Of course, it's not always the easiest path to each other. Tameron certainly makes Dayton work for it.

Dayton was so patient and understanding. He could see that Tameron needed a friend and was there for him. The chemistry between these two built throughout the book. They had a beautiful connection.

"You're not perfect, Tam, but neither am I. We're perfect for each other."

***
"I would've waited for you forever."
"Thank you. I'll spend the rest of my life making it worth the wait."

What to expect:
*MM Romance
*Disability Rep - (Hearing loss)
*Hurt / Comfort
*Firefighter x Army Veteran
*Vi-Awakening
*Found Family

A Joyfully Jay review.

4 stars

Tameron is the third book in the Honorably Discharged series from Nora Phoenix and E.M. Lindsey. This is a great found family series about a group of four veterans and close friends who are all dealing with the aftermath of an explosion while they were on active duty. The guys all live together and feature in each other’s stories, but you can start here with no problem.

This story has some interesting themes about fitting in and finding a place to belong. Both Tameron and Dayton have experience feeling like an outsider on almost opposite sides of the same situation.

I adore this found family, and I loved seeing Tameron finding his HEA with Dayton!

I was very curious about Tameron, as he'd been a bit more of a background character in the previous books. It made sense though, seeing as he struggled with his hearing loss, nightmares, PTSD and more, and didn't want to be an inconvenience, even when it came to his family. He could be so stubborn and grumpy, which was both frustrating and endearing.

Tameron and Dayton couldn't have been more opposite in their feelings for each other initially, with Dayton having a crush on Tameron while Tameron could barely stand him. Dayton was patient and persistent though, and he kept trying to reach out to Tameron, sensing that he needed a friend. The kitten updates were so cute, and their interactions had me smiling a lot.

Their relationship development was great, and Tameron's moment of sexual discovery was both fun and sweet. Trust and attraction built slowly but steady between them, and I loved the connection they shared. It felt like Dayton was the one who truly saw and understood how much Tameron struggled day to day. There were some beautiful hurt / comfort and found family present throughout the story, and I totally teared up when Dayton brought Tameron to meet his family. The portrayal of his hearing loss and him having to navigate how to exist in both a hearing world and a deaf world was very well written and added a lot of depth to his character.

I'm loving this author collaboration, and the disability rep has been amazing in this series - not that I'd expect anything less from this duo. I honestly can't wait for Nash's story, I have a feeling that there's a lot more to him than what we've seen so far... Highly recommend checking this series out if you haven't!

It’s finally Tameron‘s turn to unexpectedly find his person...and he finds him in someone that he doesn’t even think he likes.

Tameron and his friends suffered a traumatic event in the military, and they all suffer from various issues, and they’ve been there for each other as friends and roommates. Tameron is still dealing with the repercussions of hearing loss, dizziness, and equilibrium issues, and still sometimes feels like an outsider even in their own home.

He likes to be independent and hates to ask for any help, even though he’s the first one to help his friends when they need it. He’s hiding his anger, bitterness, and feelings of being overwhelmed and lost under a façade of "I’m fine". He’s an overthinker and stubborn, and he’s finding it hard to adapt to this new life.

Dayton Adams works with one of Tameron's roommates. He’s a Battalion Chief and an older, sexy firefighter. And Tameron just does not respond positively to him, even though he has a unique ability to understand his situation due to deaf members in his family. He has a bit of a crush on Tameron, but he at least hoped to be able to be friends with him, but Tameron initially didn’t give him much hope that that would happen.

But Dayton is patient, kind, understanding, and determined. He’s generally easy-going, and he’s looking to find joy in life and a partner. And luckily, his patience pays off, and the more time they start to spend together during common pursuits, the more Tameron lets him in to help him deal with his challenges, and the more he realizes that he can trust Dayton. Tie that in with an unexpected bi-awakening. building attraction, exploration together, and this is a slow slide into unexpected feelings and a relationship.

This is a beautiful and inspiring age gap, bi-awakening, hurt-comfort story about trust, opening up, patience, understanding, and finding hope, purpose, family, and a true home. I loved these two guys together. Tameron considered himself a broken, hot mess with all of his issues, fears, challenges, and anger. But Dayton is a man who knows what he wants, and he’s willing to put in the time and the work if there’s even a chance of getting it. He is just such a sweet, kind, and dedicated hero who just wants to support Tameron and build him up.

I loved getting more with the other guys in his friend group and seeing them progress their relationships. I am also excited about Nash‘s book being next, since we were given a little tease of who his hero might be. I also liked Dayton’s younger brother, Dax, and I would be interested in knowing more of his story as well.

I was a bit disappointed in this one.
It was really similar to the first book in terms of the romance, Grumpy man meets seemingly cheerful, optimistic man and dislikes him on sight, cue bisexual awakening. Not bad, necessarily, but a bit unexciting when we had a similar love the-book-before-last. Despite that, I was very into the first part of the book. I like Tam and Dayton and I thought Tam’s journey dealing with his progressive hearing loss and intro to deaf culture was very interesting and I was invested but the book didn’t stick the landing for me.

The thing this series really had going for it, in my opinion, is it’s about a found family of 4 vets supporting each other through their transitions (injury-related and into civilian life) and as they each fall in love. Where that was a strong point through books 1 and 2, I felt sad for Tam with how uninvolved Creek and Bean were in his story. In particular, there’s a scene where Tam is building himself up to ask for support from his “brothers”—something he has a hard time doing—and come out to them but another character jumps in to share news before him (Tam actually gets sort of scolded when he’s about to object to getting his thunder stolen) and then the moment passes. Tam never gets to ask for that help or come out properly to his friends and I hate that for him.
Creek and Bean were not good friends through this book. We hear about things they guys are not doing, which make Tam feel excluded or othered but there aren’t really any good moments from them to counter the negativity we’re set up for. Other than Nash, there aren’t really any scenes of Bean or Creek being there for Tam. They finally have a talk (sort of) but I was more irritated than appeased. This conclusion… felt to me like they writers were saying Tam didn’t really fit with his ‘brothers’ as well as he had thought and he never would again, because they’d never understand his deafness/hearing loss, only Dayton understands him. He can only truly be himself and vulnerable with Dayton. That’s wildly depressing and also very unromantic. Couples can be perfect for each other without having to ignore (Creek and Bean) or downgrade (Tam) their platonic relationships to make the romantic partnership the pinnacle of their lives.

It’s entirely possible it’s just me, because found family is so important to me, but this was not a feel-good happily ever after.

Wonderful Addition to This Brilliant Series

This series has been so enjoyable and I have taken each of these men into my heart.

If you like books on positive disability then you will enjoy this series. Each of the books focuses on one of the four ex-military men who were colleagues and invalided out of the military after an explosion left each of them with with life changing injuries. Nash was their CO and looks after the three others with so much care, kindness and direction I absolutely love him. He opened up his home to them and they became a chosen family all having each other’s backs and supporting each other. The story was both heartbreaking and heartwarming.

Dayton a work colleague and friend of Nash’s was introduced in the last book and from the off Tameron took a dislike to this gorgeous affable older man even though he had no idea why Dayton rubbed him up the wrong way. Tameron was the only straight man in the house and the way Dayton was getting under his skin and making him notice and feel things confused him more.

Tameron was a mess, trying to figure out how to exist in both a hearing world and a deaf world. His hearing is deteriorating, he was coping with severe vertigo, PTSD, insomnia, nightmares, learning ASL, jobless and no direction leading him to feel worthless and very angry. To make matters worse Creek and Bean have found happiness with their forever partners and everything was changing and whilst Tameron was happy for his brothers he was terrified of change and being left behind. I think they all underestimated the fear that stoic Nash was feeling as his ‘children’ were finding their independence. It was exactly what he had built them up for but he was already lonely and feared the future.

The authors writing was superb, describing so well what these wonderful men were experiencing.

Dayton is the only hearing member in his family, he understands Tameron’s anguish and with patience and kindness Tameron finds a good friend, a bi-awakening and eventual peace. They are a perfect couple.

All the characters are wonderful, Dayton’s deaf family, especially his dad and brother Dax, made me smile.

I strongly recommend this book and the series.

I adore all of the veterans living in Nash's house, but I have to admit that Tameron has been the hardest to get to know. I was really excited to dive into this book and see what was going on behind his stoic outer facade, and what an impactful character journey he went on in this book. Tam was terrified of change, of feeling like an outsider and like he didn't belong in the hearing or Deaf community. I didn't realize how heavily his emotions were weighing on him until he started to unpack them in this book, and it wasn't easy to live through that struggle alongside him. Dayton had a deep inner well of patience, and he used it frequently in his interactions with Tam. I'm not sure Tam even registered that his prickliness and defensiveness around Dayton were hinting at his attraction to the man, but he was absolutely reading way too much into every small interaction they shared. The connection between Dayton and Tam built slowly and organically, starting with cute kitten photos between friends and evolving into heart-to-heart conversations and deep emotional intimacy. Tam had other friends, but around Dayton he could express the good, bad, ugly, and undesirable parts of himself without fear of judgment or becoming a burden. I wish Tam had realized earlier that there were other people in his life who wanted to be there for him in the same way, but it took time for him to work past the trauma of his injury and let go of the fear that he'd be left behind. I found it easy to get invested in his and Dayton's journey, and seeing the two of them work on themselves and learn how to be better partners for each other was incredible. Their happy ending was wonderfully sweet and satisfying, and I feel like Tam and Dayton are well-equipped to handle the expected and unexpected changes life is likely to throw at them in the future.

**I voluntarily read an ARC of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.

Cute But Lacking

Tameron and Dayton had their cute and fun moments, but wow did I struggle to connect to either of them. Dayton is presented as this strong, older man who handles responsibility like a champ, is everyone’s advocate and friend, and who can do pretty much no wrong. Tameron is a veteran recovering from an injury that is slowly deteriorating his hearing. He’s justifiably angry and struggling to handle his life changing so dramatically.

In theory it all sounds great. But both characters were so hard to really enjoy. Dayton was a little too perfect, too understanding, too patient. Even when he’s basically ghosted twice he just shrugs and tampers down his disappointment because he knows Tameron needs time and he should be patient. Tameron was constantly putting words into other characters mouths and then punishing them for it. He had more than a handful of moments where he said something either sexist or uncomfortable about women. And let’s not forget how many times in the book he seemingly dropped off the face of the earth for a week or even weeks with almost zero explanation and little more than a “my bad” at the end.

The ASL and rep of deaf characters and deaf culture was the most interesting part of the book. I could appreciate Tameron’s journey and how his experiences with hearing vs non hearing people made him reevaluate his own comfort and future.

The sexual awakening in this book was awkward and often times uncomfortable. The stereotypes and awkward on page comparisons or comments about women vs men made me cringe and it made me want to skim past the smutty scenes.

I really wanted to enjoy this book, I’ve enjoyed the others in the series, but this was a flop for me. There were aspects I definitely enjoyed, but the negatives just way outweighed the positives.

"I had no idea what we were and if we would ever be what I couldn’t even admit to myself yet, but for now, this was enough."

This is book 3 in the Honorably Discharged series by the writing team of Nora Phoenix and EM Lindsey. This is the first book I've read in this series and it's also the first book I've read that was written by these two authors together. I'm happy to say that it was a great story and these two authors didn't let me down in the least. I'm always surprised when two authors can create a cohesive story together, I just don't know how they do it. I guess like in software development you have the waterfall methodology or the agile methodology. I guess having two authors write one book is definitely agile. LOL, sorry I was just working through my epiphany.

This series is about four army buddies that were injured, in the line of duty, that are now living together and supporting each other through the good times and the bad. In this book the injured soldier, Tameron, is dealing with losing his hearing. His ability to hear is worsening and he's trying to adapt but he's having trouble dealing with that and his loss of self worth.

Hurt/comfort, age gap, bi-awakening, working through the stages of grief, found family is the best, learning ASL, being there for each other, movie nights, family dinners

Tameron, you sweet, sweet grumpy man. I want to smother you in hugs and affection. But thankfully, he has Dayton instead. Patient Dayton, who is willing to love him softly from afar until he’s ready.

Gah, it’s one thing to experience a life-altering trauma and the after effects, but also trying to support friends who are also trying to find their way forward from the accident that hurt them all. How do you ask for help when your support system also needs help? And then watching them find a life of their own with love.

Tameron doesn’t know how to let people in and ask for help. What he’s not prepared for is Dayton, who is kind and stubborn.

Dayton is an incredible character. The only hearing member of a Deaf family, they are close, but being different always leaves its mark. And add in a career as a firefighter who sees some of the worst moments in life. He’s got tender spots that help him be the kind of person who can be there for another.

It’s a tender story, with lots of love and sweetness. I adore them both.

What an emotional book. I haven’t read Bean and Creek’s books yet but if they’re as beautiful as this one, I’m gonna need to stock up on Kleenex.

Tameron is a former soldier who is losing his hearing after an accident in the military. He’s resentful, angry and bitter at the hand life has dealt him. He feels like a burden to his friends and doesn’t like asking for help.

Dayton is a fire chief who’s instantly attracted to Tameron. He understands how he feels about losing his hearing given that his family is deaf. He wants to help Tameron navigate his struggles with ASL but Tameron hates him.

Their relationship is a very rocky one but Dayton is determined to be patient with Tameron. He knows that if he is patient with him, eventually Tameron will come around.

I got emotional so many times reading this book. Both Tameron and Dayton had traumas that really touched me. The way they both felt like they didn’t belong was heartbreaking. They both needed each other to heal emotionally.

I’m in absolute awe of how Nora and E. M. navigated each of the characters disabilities. The way they both made these men so relatable and vulnerable yet so powerful and strong, is truly amazing. At no point in time they come off as weak or pathetic.

I will be reading the first two books to be caught up for when book four releases. Just another wholesome series by Nora Phoenix and E. M. Lindsey.

I really can't turn down a recommendation from a friend.

I was kind of hopeful for this one as well can't lie. I do beleive there are women who can write good mlm romance books. This was not one of them. I saw the cute profile and was like this is a author who knows what they are doing.

This book managed to make me feel so uncomfortable in my own sexuality I don't even know what to do. I think whenever my friend recommends me books like this I'm reading them at hers, with a brew, a lot of blankets and just. No. Stop recommending me these kinds of books please. I'm glad she enjoys these books but just...

No thank you. Nope. Nah.

Honestly the description sounds good. The sexualisation of gay men - made me so unbelievably uncomfortable. Unlike the last book I will however say this: It wasn't one of the worst ones. This was clearly a book wrote by a woman, for women. I don't know why women like books about gay men. I feel solidified in my fear of women. I really do.

I managed to read a substantial part of this book. I would be willing to try another book by this author. Just not their gay men books. If they write anything else I don't know the writing itself wasn't to bad. I really struggle with books about gay men wrote by women. This wasn't one of the worst but I also couldn't finish it. I just couldn't.

3.5⭐️ —4.0⭐️
tho I feel it is more 3.5

I was expecting something else of this book because Tameron was the only one who was completely straight. I mean, perhaps it could be the same thing like with Creek, but by this point, he was the only one who was TRULY straight. There was no doubt about it. So when this book idea came with him feeling a little bit of hate for this other guy, I was like, YESS!!! I could feel the tension already, and I hadn't even read the book yet.

BUT SADLY, I didn't feel it like that. I mean, it was like 40%, and they were already having something. Perhaps not feelings but physically, and I really wanted a slow burn. A slow, well-built bi-awakening.

It was still cute, but it wasn't what I was expecting. What I needed. What I wanted. And since this was the last disabled guy in this series, i had high hopes. I love both Mc and i feel that this book had the perfect potential to be the best book with a super straight guy who is in hate with everything because of his state :cccc
Anyway, I hope Nash's book is good. As I see in the other books, perhaps it'll be amazing

SO FUCKING GOOOOOOOOD !!! i adore this series, literally god tier. every book is better than the last one. and i’m so excited for nash’s book, he deserves his hea so bad.

i loved everything. i loved the banter, the crushing on each other without knowing. dayton is exactly what tameron needs, he is so sweet and understanding. i loved all their scenes. i loved when tam finally realized he was in love with day. they’re so good together.

“you’re an ass”
“but you kind of like me, don’t you?”

“how do you always know what i mean?”
“because i do actually pay attention to you. i’ve been paying attention since the day we met”

“i’m glad you came over. i missed you”
“i missed you too”

“want me to come get you?”
“you have to work later”
“i don’t care”

“i’m so tired, day”
“i know, baby. i know”

“you’ve loved me for a while now”
“i have”
“i’m sorry i didn’t see it”
“you weren’t ready”
“i wasn’t…but i am now”

“what do you want?”
“everything…as long as it’s with you”

“i would’ve waited for you forever”

“yes. anything you want”
“that might be a dangerous promise”
“anything, you want”

“i know. day-baby. my love, i know”

LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE TAM & DAY !!!! best couple ever.

Part of a series, which I have not read, a veteran with hearing loss and going progressively more deaf and an older guy he has an unreasonable dislike for. And it is very good, and all the stuff here about the real life issues of deaf people, about american sign language were really interesting and felt natural to the plot (of course it was, it was a central defining part of the MC's life).

The loved up couples of previous books in the series are here a lot, and the future pairing up is strongly hinted, but I will give it a pass, because the setup that these guys were teammates, injured or traumatized in the same event and now are roommates makes that perfectly integrated in the plot.

As a negative, it felt a bit fast food, a bit short maybe and I think I would have spent a long time with these guys slow burning - the setup for the first kiss a bit forced rather than natural. It felt like this could have been a bit more, a bit longer, a bit deeper, but it was pretty good as it was. Like a supermarket pastry, you keep thinking it is not the best cookie and could have been richer, fresher whatever, but it's still very good.

"Tameron" is the third book in this contemporary series but it can be read as a standalone. We follow Tameron, a veteran who is losing his hearing, and Dayton, a firefighter. I absolutely adored it, I thought is was a fantastic addition to the series and I had the best time reading it, I couldn't put it down.
My heart ached for Tameron. He was lost and struggling so much and I just wanted to hug him. The chapters from his pov made me very emotional, I teared up more than once. I really really felt for him. Dayton's chapters were comforting. He had a heart of gold and was always trying to help the people (and kittens) around him. Such a kind and supportive person, the best friend and partner anyone could hope for.
I also really liked reading all the conversations about deaf culture and ASL. The side characters were also very interesting. I want Dax to get his own story!
Tameron's bi awakening was so much fun, I loved it. And I loved his chemistry with Dayton. They were wonderful together.
I can't wait to read Nash's story!!

Tameron & Dayton
Another wonderful story in the Honorably Discharged series! Up til now, we've really only been given the rough and tumble, grumpy side of Tameron, so it was really wonderful to get to experience his other sides. Granted, he still starts out rough with Dayton, but as with any bi-awakening story, we figure out the why of things. 🙃
Dayton was a fantastically patient and sweet match for Tameron, and he was able to recognize that very early on, even if Tameron didn't.

I loved the exploratory build of their relationship. It definitely built on a basis of friends with benefits, but once Tameron started to see his life and his surroundings from a different point of view, he knew that his identifiable feelings for Dayton were love.

All the coverage given to walk through Tameron's struggles with his hearing and his ASL skills were incredible and thorough. Though not through trauma, I am also losing my hearing more rapidly than I'd ever thought could happen, and I've had my own struggles with hearing aids and still being able to follow conversations. ASL may eventually become my go-to someday as well, and this story really helps identify how challenging a task that can be to learn.

Tameron was a really wonderful and beautiful story. Each of the Honorably Discharged men have deserved their HEAs, and they've each found the perfect partner to help them live and love happily. I'm really excited to see how Nash's story turns out. His LI is heavily inferred, and I know that's going to make it a lot of fun.

I received an authorized copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

Tameron is grappling with the overwhelming effects of losing his hearing—physically taxing, yes, but the emotional isolation is far worse. He feels adrift, disconnected from everyone around him. Enter Dayton, an older and unexpectedly understanding firefighter who seems to appear in all corners of Tameron’s life… and increasingly, in his thoughts. What begins as wary tolerance slowly morphs into genuine friendship—until Tameron realizes friendship might no longer be enough. Coming to terms with his bisexuality feels natural; falling for Dayton, of all people, does not. But love isn’t always about logic, and Dayton might just be the one person who truly sees him.

I loved this story which gave a great level of detail of Tameron's conflicted emotions and how that affected his relationships as well as himself. There was a good level of information on the politics around deaf people and their families. There were times when I wasn't sure if I wanted to shake or hug Tameron. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Phoenix and Lindsey have more than proven what an excellent writing team they make with yet another solid installment to this co-written series. I enjoyed this take on the golden retriever/black cat romance, with the inevitable draw on both sides coming from a place of character development rather than pure physical interest. Even more, Tameron isn't the only one who goes on a journey of healing, as Dayton also confronts lingering fragments of trauma that came from growing up as the only hearing person in a Deaf family. Dayton is far from Tameron's "savior" as Tameron faces his hearing loss journey, since both men must learn truths about themselves to finally become the foundations of an equally solid partnership. And, now that Tameron, Bean, and Creek have each found both healing and their happily ever afters, I can't wait to see what these fabulous storytellers have in store for fearless leader Nash, who clearly doesn't have his life together in quite the way everyone thinks he does.

Tameron broke me in beautiful ways and put me back together again. I don’t cry often when I read, but Lindsey and Phoenix’s book made me sob more than once. It isn’t inherently sad, and I doubt our authors cackled and rubbed their hands together and said, “Let’s make them cry.” No. It just mirrors life in such a way that it reflects a light in all of our darkest parts and exposes them, but gently, creating the promises of love in little rainbows. I cried because I am Tameron and Tameron is me, and I have felt his brand of worry and heartbreak and joy. I cried because these men define family in a way few people get to live, and it soothes my soul to know love exists that way. I cried because I got to see my pain in someone else, and they have a beautiful ending and know that ending could be mine, too. Loved it. Love Tameron and Dayton. Loved their family and their journey. One day, I’m going to claim one of those rainbow promises for me. Love that for me.

E.M. Lindsey's deft hand at writing characters with disabilities shines in this book and Nora's ability to weave a realistic tale - balancing the profound hearing loss Tameron faces, along with the additional vertigo and other symptoms with all of the other amazing things about the man. I also love the sympathetic way Dayton and his family are portrayed.

The emotions are real, the reactions make so much sense as you experience the highs and lows of watching each character. I love Dayton's resilience and patience and Tameron's grit and determination - and these authors find a way to make all that come together in an amazing story without getting bogged down in one part of either character.

I also totally appreciate the foreshadowing for book 4- and am begging for a follow up HEA for Dayton's brother ... pretty please???

Great addition to the series

I enjoyed Tameron's story. He is losing his hearing more and more and he was having a hard time excepting it. He had lots of struggles and hated asking for help. Dayton was wonderful with Tameron. Dayton knew what it was like being in between worlds as he was the only hearing one in his family. He was a great support for Tameron. Watching them get closer and Tameron starting to open up more was so nice. I do wish there was a bit more of a description of what they looked like though. I couldn't really get a good picture in my mind for the MMCs.

I loved Dayton's family. Knives was a cute extra addition too!!

Seeing Creek, Bean, and Nash again were nice too. I am excited to find out even more about Nash in his book which is coming up next.

This was an enjoyable, low-angst, bi-awaking, found family story!

“Because I do actually pay attention to you.” His lips curved into a smile. “I’ve been paying attention since the day we met.”

Tameron <333

I've been patiently waiting for this one!! I loved Tameron and Dayton together. Tameron really felt so "other" with his family, it was nice to see him get to experience life with someone where he could be his full self. Tameron struggled with asking for help or accommodations with Nash, Bean, and Creek and was constantly like "Well they have it worse". It was so nice to see him get that reassurance that hes not a burden and be given the courage to tell his family when he couldn't catch what was said because they turned away or really just any adjustment needed so he could be part of the conversation.

Dayton was so patient and so kind, and really just one hell of a man. It was so interesting to compare how Dayton's experience being hearing in a Deaf family and his place of belonging vs Tameron who recently lost his hearing and how misplaced he feels in the Deaf community. I loved how welcoming Dayton's family was to Tameron and how they were kind but also understanding of how this is an adjustment for him.
