Havenverse #3

Knot That Delicate

Rate this book
I’m a damaged Omega, but I’m not that delicate.

I fled, leaving behind the life of a captive with only the will to live and a little hope that a rescue was on the horizon.

Little did I know, three Alphas are out there, ready and willing to take me in, saving me from my haunted past and sheltering me without question. Carter, Dylan, and Asher are everything I could have dreamed of… if I had dared to dream, but my life isn’t that simple. Something they understand all too well as they send me away to heal and be free for once in my life.

I have a wide future ahead of me, thanks to them and a heavy dose of therapy, but I want more than a life in the woods, secluded once again in the trees.

There’s a world waiting for me, and I don’t know if I can have both, an adventure to make up for lost time and the love of my Alphas…

Knot That Delicate is book three in the Havenverse series. Although each book is a standalone, they should be read in order.

I wanted to love this, but there were multiple errors, the plot timing was really off, some of the dialogue and actions were super cringe, and overall I had to push myself to finish it :(

Out of the entire Havenverse series, Knot That Delicate is the standout for me. If you’ve been keeping up, Juniper is Kane’s little sister from Knot For Keeps, but don’t expect her to stay in anyone’s shadow. She’s soft, sassy, and a certified alpha magnet.

Her connection with her alphas is genuine, supportive, and passionate. The chemistry was intense without being toxic, tender without being boring, and emotionally satisfying in a way that struck me straight in the heart. The third-act breakup caught me off guard—not because it was dramatic, but because it was mature. For once it wasn't over something dumb like miscommunication. Her alphas step back for her sake, and while Juniper fights it at first (understandably), she eventually sees they were doing what was best for her. It was a consensual, thoughtful pause—basically the monogamous version of “it’s not you, it’s growth.” And honestly, I loved that.

Honestly, my only complaint is that Melissa Huxley keeps ending these books like we won’t immediately spiral into withdrawal. Ma’am, where is my epilogue? I need wedding bells, baby bumps, something to hold me over until the next book.

If you’re into omegaverse with real emotional payoff and strong, balanced relationships, you'll really enjoy Knot That Delicate!

There’s no logic with this book.

I need a map. I need a map to understand where she was, where she ended up, where her brother’s place was, where her families place was, and where the Haven was. I’m not following even in thick woods how some of this happened.

According to book 2 the house they were at was literally next door to her parent’s place. A place they still lived. And her brother’s place was only about an hour away. And based on the fact that Lavender when called at the end only took 5 mins to make it to the Haven that’s got to mean the Haven was also close by. Which means she runs for a full day and ends up on a mountain how tf far away?! All before she sees anyone else. I don’t even know if I buy that in her state she was able to get far enough away from the house not to hear the commotion of her brother and pack showing up and yelling for Lavender. There was not that much time between Lavy being tackled by Alec and Gage throwing him off her. Which means there was lot that long of time for a weakened malnourished woman who hasn’t seen daylight in 5 years to get very far away ffs.

And then magically she shows up there and all of a sudden there’s mudslides that she never incurred while running basically up the mountain?! Eh???!!

AND THEN… when she calls and asked about her brother the keeper says they were just on a trip abroad. Fucking excuse me?! Hold the F up! They spent 5 years and became literal criminals looking for her. A few weeks after she escaped Lavy tells them yeah she was there she ran opposite direction as me. And they what?! Just went home and then later took a damn vacation?! EXCUSE ME?! They had no idea where she could be. Had no idea the health she was in. Tf you mean they went abroad. Are you telling me Kane would not have been spending months in those woods trying to track his sister after 5 damn years?! She just doesn’t show up and they’re all just sitting at home buying a kitten when they got the call??!!!!!!

No logic.

And Alec was alive was he not? But she gets told he was dead.

The errors were a little less but names were switched within a scene ffs. Harry, Harry, Knox, Harry, Knox. How? Ernie also became Alex at one point to. Very ridiculous editing.

As for the rest of it…

Juniper was definitely the worst female. She was a whining brat for no reason. Two days in she’s complaining she’s bored. Girlfriend you spent 5 years in a basement. Tf you mean you’re bored? Grow up.

The guys… meh. None of them had much personality. Dylan was grumpy for all of 1.2seconds. And then they were all basically the same person. You never knew until the end who was technically pack alpha. And for it to be Carter seemed…wrong.

And why was it like some big deal thing that they had a chain in the woods? First off this was a second home. Not a main home. They lived in the city this was established. But she said she didn’t know if she could live at the cabin. And Kane made them seem like freaks living so alone. But those fools live out in the woods all alone as well ffs?! They don’t have a house in the city. So wtf was that whole thing?

I don’t feel the connections. This literally felt like not Stockholm syndrome exactly since obviously she wasn’t a captive with them, but it did seem more like a situational type connection. I understand why they had her go to the Haven. I don’t agree with needing to spend a literal year with no communication. That’s absurd. She didn’t even seem to need therapy. There’s a mention of nightmares but why didn’t we see that? Why didn’t we see any sort of trauma coming off her? She was fine the whole time.

Also, they say she needs to go see the world. Um… the Haven is basically just a cushy prison. She’s not able to see any world there so that’s a moot point.

We never see her connect with her family outside of Kane either. Seems weird. Did they even care she was found?! Even seeing the rest of the pack would have been nice since they grew up together. Why do we not at least see Arch, Gage and Theo helping them move or something?!

The apartment complex seems interesting. That seems like it could be its own series to see some of the packs there and how life in the city is.

DNF - 38% (one of the few books I wish I could give negative stars to because I am convinced it wasn't written by a real person... sad.)

The story starts with an fmc running away after being held captive and beaten into submission for FIVE years. She is exhausted and can't even CRAWL any further. But when a man shows up above her she is super snarky and bratty towards him before blacking out?

First of all.. where did the energy to be snarky come from since she blacks out two seconds later... also... everyone responds to trauma differently and maybe I am missing something because I didn't read the one before this but... where did the confidence come from after being abused for FIVE YEARS.

And then she is making jokes and acting completely fine as if it was all not a big deal? I just could not connect with the fmc because how she was written was laughable. And apparently another Omega was the reason she escaped but she doesn't really give any shits about if that omega made it out.

I also couldn't really relate because she was unbelievably selfish. She took one of the alphas rooms (obviously) but not once asked where he was sleeping (it's mentioned later that he is getting crap sleep because of it) but she "doesn't want to be a burden" girl... you are. Read the room.

There are quite a bit of LITTLE plot holes that get annoying. Supposedly she is sleeping in Carter's room but the smallest alpha's boots happen to be in that room so she puts those on? What? Or when they were all knocking on the door of the room she locked herself in. But then on the next page they are talking about if they should follow her and they agree not to? So.. who was knocking? Oh. No one. Okay.

Oh and her lying about being held captive and claiming she got lost... Girl.. they cleaned your wounds, are you stupid?

Also... who tf has a DEADBOLT on their bathroom door? It felt like it was only added for the plot. There was no reason for these men to have not one but TWO deadbolts on the door (for the BATHROOM!). Because apparently these big scary alphas need one but then didn't consider how short omegas are.. lol what?

Considering only 3 of the five star reviews actually have a review attached I am inclined to believe the rating on this is extremely inaccurate. Very disappointing.

So good as a standalone but series lacks continuity *spoilers*

I have had this problem with other series by Melissa Huxley as well so I shouldn't be surprised but her series tends to lack continuity which makes my brain itch. The rules of her universes tend to change slightly from book to book along a series - specific to this series we go from all omegas being forced into Havens without much individual choice in Sage's government to omegas being able to choose staying with their families in Juniper's world (which doesn't work since Lavender's family would not have given her up easily and would have blocked her from accessing the opportunity to leave if they had the option to keep her home). This book even has the grievous error of changing a character's name twice within just a few pages (Dustin becomes Knox becomes Harry, thankfully the chapter stopped after that point so he couldn't rack up more names).

I do LOVE the main characters. Each is well fleshed out with interesting backgrounds and great complex personalities. I like the story line, which is interesting and reasonably unique despite the market being flooded with omegaverse wannabe authors (Huxley is a solid choice if you want to read omegaverse). I even loved hating the antagonist in this book (although Huxley does suddenly change the outcome of Alec in this book which irked me). The pacing and flow of the story makes each book (individually) fun, easy and reasonable. The story arcs do not feel forced, the characters have reasonable time to build their relationships, and even decisions made in a time crunch feel comfortable because Huxley has already focused on trust building in the story.

Unfortunately Huxley did not resolve several threads in this series, and right now I don't see that more installments are planned. We don't know what happened with the Bove Pack. We don't get to see Fawn, who is essential for two full books, get her happy every after (and holy Toledo do I want to know her story immediately!). We don't get to see Sage use her degrees and prove her family wrong. So many questions and no hope for answers without more books in the wings.

Generative-AI is putting artists like me out of work because it's stolen my portfolio (even with copyright) and uploaded it for scrapping into a database run by millionaires, who profit off all that work that is stolen. These databases don't 'create' images, as much as they copy-paste an artist's work, and then hoover a filter over them to create a cohesive pass.

This book's chapter headers are all AI.
So no.
I won't be reading this book any longer on Kindle--because why would I pay an author who wants to scam visual artists? That would literally be exchanging morals for entertainment and I HATE it.

So no.
Keep hiring artists to do chapter headers.
AI isn't the unsung hero you think it is. Just because the stolen work happens on the front end of this grift, doesn't mean you're not culpable for it.

Until artists are paid their inclusive charge or royalties and have logged permission slips for AI usage, AI cannot be ethically used. Companies could have easily gotten all these t's and i's taken care of--but they didn't, because they didn't want to hear the word 'no.' After all, it's easier to apologize than to ask for permission right? But these are living artists paying the price, NOT dead artists whose works have entered the public domain.

We're stronger together.
So stop using AI for your humanities projects, it's a terrible look for the human experience and highlights an inability to care.

This book had some very real issues. I am rating it 2.5 stars, rounding up to 3. So many things just didn't add up or even mesh with previous books in the series. In addition to that, the plot was just... lackluster.

Grammatically, i came across so many problems. A couple examples, Quotation mark facing the wrong way, and at one point there were 3 stars in a row for no reason at the beginning of a paragraph.. Another is the word Site rather than sight. These should have been caught by a simple proofread, if nothing else.

Story-wise, though, is where I have the most issues. There are serious disconnect and continuity problems from the last book, where Juniper's story begins. First, i swear Alec's last name is different. Second, hthis one says he diedbat the scene, when he clearly didn't in the last book.

Next, how did she have the energy to get snarky when first discovered, yet pass right out? Her whole demeanor in the book was different from the last book, too. It didn't read like she was traumatized at all.

If you have read the first two books, i dont recommend this one at all.

Knot That Delicate

This is book 3 in the series. Even though it is a standalone, it is recommended to read in order so you understand the back story better. This was probably my favorite out of the series. I loved how Lavender (book 2 is her story) was incorporated into the story towards the end. Their friendship is such an amazing thing! I do hope Fawn might get her own story. The guys in this story are amazing characters. I thought there was going to be a one hold out but thankfully that didn't happen. Asher was just a 'golden retriever who made amazing food and knew how to heal people.' Dylan was softy under his tough exterior and I liked that. I didnt really feel like I got a good read on Carter, but he seemed like a pushover for his omega. This is a good story to add to your TBR.

Juniper's story actually begins in book 2 (Lavender's story) as she's Knox's sister who was kidnapped and held in a basement for 5 years. She escapes and is found by Carter, an alpha whose pack is staying in a cabin for the winter and who help her heal and get healthy and *surprise, surprise* they all smell AH-MAY-ZING.

Carter, Dylan and Asher really ARE amazing. They immediately recognize Juniper has been through a LOT and are sensitive to her needs as much as they can be (even though none of them have been with an omega before).

Despite the traumatic background, this really is a sweet story and I'm so glad to see Juniper got her happy ending!!

an okay slow story

It was well written, the story flowed well overall
Despite what the female MC went through it was very lighthearted in my opinion

I can’t put my finger on it, but this book just came across kinda boring and forgettable
And then it all got ruined for me at the very end. I get that omegas are prized and cherished in this authors world, but this FMC went from sincerely traumatized, to self centered princess. Which is ironic since she specifically hated being called a princess. At least that was how it felt to me and even though it was at the very end, it wrecked the entire book for me.

After reading this.book, I am even more convinced That all three.books were.written by different people.
The fact that all books use.different variations of the words CUM vs COME,
And the grammar issues. I am not unfamiliar with the British language, so that wasn't the issue.
Also, in book three, the writing style differed from the first.two books with no distinct paragraphs! Fuck! I hate that!
The overall story was.a.three.star. it was.worth reading however, all the errors and inconsistencies, idk, drove me bonkers!
An interesting start to the new year.

sweet

This one was sweet. Juniper heals and her pack helps her heal. It is a slow build up and very fluffy for a large majority. There is not a lot of conflict and it very much feels like the healing journey book. I don’t know if it was my personal mood or just the pace of this one however it felt slower and more drawn out although it isn’t a bad thing, just made it feel a little long at points.

I was really waiting for this book, and it was alright. This one missed the mark.
Not just because sex was subpar at absolute best, but the writing was rushed.
About halfway through the book, moments were kinda messy, grammer and wording was off, and there was a half finished sentence in there somewhere. I don't know.
Overall, I loved the characters as per usual, and the plot was good. I did enjoy the read, but there was quite a bit that I had to cringe through.

Running

So this is about Kane's sister from the last book. The creep that kidnapped her was so unhinged that I don't know why he was checked when she first went missing. So I was confused how she was so far away when she was found. Everyone reacts differently to trauma, but I felt like she kind of blew it off. I am not sure I would read it again, but I am glad I read it.

Good Read

Melissa Huxley is one of my favourite omegaverse authors and as with her previous book I absolutely loved this one. I really enjoyed the story and it took me on an emotional roller coaster and I loved the characters. I loved how strong Juniper was even though she had been through hell and the guys were just brilliant. I would 100% recommend giving this book a read.

I thought this book was adorable. But I really like the end. I honestly think it’s the first book I read where they thought about recovery and the importance of making sure you’re not just accepting what you’re comfortable with. It was a fantastic pallet cleanser ( which is just my way of saying light romance)

disappontingly not worth the red

I went into this excited as I enjoyed the first two of the series. However this one was a huge let down. Poorly written with typos galore.

The dialogue was clunky and unnatural. The character personalities and tones were all jumbled, and no one had a clear voice.

Don’t waste your time with this one.

Knot that Delicate

Love the whole series. My only complaint is that whoever is proofreading, needs to step up. Because names get confused in all three books. Some sentences don’t make sense, other than that the story plots are great, with lovable characters and believable bad guys. Hot love scenes. I highly recommend.

I loved this book! It should the chemistry between the characters without everything being physical. I loved the choices that they made to help each other. It was such a sweet story of watching people find themselves and learn to love each other.

I really liked this series. I LIKED Juniper's pack. However, there is a whole chapter where she is with Fawn, but Lavender's name is in place of Fawn... for a whole chapter.

While I enjoyed the book, there were some glaring typo/editing errors that really frustrated me. And no, I’m not meaning the British wording, I know how that works. Just like glaring editing errors. Otherwise, a simple good ending to the series.

Had to DNF this one. Juniper's behavior doesn't track with someone who has been held captive for years. Not really feeling the pack either and their response to finding a beaten omega on their land.
