This is an adorable tale about how Messi became the star we know today. Jack Scorer’s novel teaches young readers that if you want to be good at something it takes practice, hard work and dedication. The story follows young Leo, the smallest kid in the neighborhood. From the moment his Grandmother Celia gave him the football for his birthday, to him joining youth teams Grandoli and Newell’s Leo astonished people to watch this flea of a boy outshine older and bigger kids. Jack’s word play and storytelling keeps readers turning the page to the moment Leo receives the greatest Football award.
I loved the narrative created to tell about Messi’s history. It was an inspired book and soccer fans are sure to enjoy it from cover to cover. A lovely lesson in the power of love and belief. Messi dared to believe he could be the best and through hard work, dedication, tenacity, great coaching and the love and support of his family he achieved his goals. Great book for inspiring kids to pursue their own dreams.
This is a wonderful book about Messi. It says for kids 8-12 but I think anyone who loves soccer or Messi can truly enjoy it. It starts as Messi as a child who loves soccer. Anyone can appreciate the sacrifices his family made and the challenges he had to overcome to become the greatest. I highly recommend this book!
This book was an excellent read that moved at a very quick pace. At 4 years old Leo was well ahead of others, making a promise to his grandmother and fulfilling it just 18 years later he became the best in the world. People are going to really enjoy reading this book.
The Messi story is one for the movies because it details how love and passion can become a driving force to never giving up and becoming one of the greatest. The book is well written, engaging, and inspiring all the same time. It's definitely worth having your teens read the book to instill hope and belief.
