This is pretty tame compared to some of JK’s other cray delights, but it has its moments—Mr. Prez Daddy has a breeding kink, for one thing. I like that Pierce isn’t a manwhore and that he’d hired Eloise without seeing her, based solely on her plan to lead a new Youth Council focused on mental health initiatives. That was cool. She wasn't some barely legal naïve airhead, and Pierce demanded respect for her and her ideas from lecherous senators etc. Still...he was a very bad boy with her because FUN.

(DNF) Not finishing and not liking a Jessa Kane book is extremely rare for me, but I just couldn't stand this one anymore. At first, I didn't like the heroine because of how strong she came on to the Hero. That's a personal thing, I know, but there's also the fact that it was her first day on the job-- a job that she mentioned a few times that she'd worked very hard to get in the first place. So despite the power of instalove and fiction, I just lost my respect for her character. Even after trying to mentally shake it off so I could get into the story, something about her just rubbed me the wrong way.
Then there was the unrelenting use of the Hero's title of "Mr. President" and "sir" in sexual situations that also got frustrating. I get it. This is an erotic romance involving the president of the country. I don't want to be reminded of that every time the heroine opens her mouth. Add in the association of the title with the current president of the US, and it's just unpleasant. By the point I stopped reading, the Hero had already asked her twice to call him by his name (or "Daddy") when they were alone, but she still persisted and it really annoyed me.
And I really hate to say this, because Jessa Kane is usually the best at establishing chemistry between the MCs and writing dirty talk and sex scenes, but...this one just wasn't good. The Daddy kink especially seemed disconnected from the characters, like it was thrown in there for old times sake. This author usually does that kink very well with the way she has the characters kind of fall into it and then settle into it as their relationship develops. This time, it just didn't fit with the characters, and it also rubbed me the wrong way.
I know that not every book can be the best one the author has written, but I'm so used to the higher quality of Jessa Kane, that this one was a real disappointment. I'm really glad that she's writing and publishing again, though, and I will definitely keep reading her work.

I was primed for a bananas story, and this instalove novella ended up feeling kind of sweet, but it was a nice surprise! Not every book can be as glorious as Preacher Man, I guess. 😆
It was still filthy though, because it’s a Jessa Kane story. I don’t think there is a Jessa Kane MMC in existence who could look at the FMC without having explicit fantasies, and Mr. President here did a lot of crooning at the same time. Me: yes.
I also liked that the FMC was not at all ashamed of being hot for the president, and was the main pursuer… at first. 😏
