Lan Xichen is one of my favorite characters but it must mostly be in my head- or because of Liu Haikuan. He drove me crazy in the final scene at the temple. I do not ship him with JGY or Jiang Cheng but 100% with Mingjue (or me 🫣). And BTW Mingjue was 🥵 in this volume as a fierce corpse- and he was naked! Censored of course.

Some of my favorite scenes from this final volume:
🐇WWX’s face when he realized LZ knew about his core
🐇 LZ smacking JC and immediately protecting WWX
🐇 The pain in LZ eyes when seeing WWX sad
🐇 Seeing Su She exposed as the 100 holes curse user, so satisfying
🐇 Everyone just airing everyone’s else family business and personal feelings 😂

The ending was beautiful. I cried again when Sizhui told WWX who he was. All of LZ’s secrets were exposed by WWX in such a cute way and we got a sweet kiss. I’m happy to have collected these but after the final volume of the SE hardcover is released I am DONE. There is absolutely no need for another version of MDZS on my shelf in any form. I mean I want the last two volumes French versions but that is it.

Spoiler pic of Nie Mingjue 💔

"Just like before, Wei WuXian called his name with a grin, and he looked over as well.

From then on, he could never move his eyes away again."

And that, my friends, is Wangxian. Especially that passage is heartbreakingly tender because it captures that pivotal moment when you know love becomes irreversible, almost fated. Wei Wuxian’s smile, so full of life, and Lan Wangji’s quiet gaze that lingers, which says everything they’ve never needed to voice. They're so soulmates!

I've been saying this over and over again but there’s something achingly beautiful in how Wangxian’s story intertwines grief and joy, silence and laughter, rebellion and restraint, and in how love, in its purest form, triumphs over all of it. They will always have my heart! They are my number one! Hah, wangxian! Huhuhu.

What do you MEAN this is the final volume 😭
This ending felt like getting punched softly in the heart. After all the suffering, misunderstandings, death, grief, and mutual pining, seeing them finally get peace together made me genuinely emotional. The art was gorgeous, the romance was insane in the quiet devastating way only MDZS can do, and every character goodbye hurt. Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji altered my brain chemistry permanently. Ended the series smiling like an idiot and staring at the wall for ten minutes.

“A Person’s heart shouldn’t be burdened with so many memories. That’s how you live freely.”

Ugh, I can’t believe this is the last volume. Finishing it honestly left me with that weird mix of happiness and sadness where I was glad to spend one more book with these characters, but also not ready to let them go. I’ve gotten so attached to Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji, and this volume really reminded me why. Their connection felt so comforting here. There’s a quiet understanding between them that made a lot of scenes hit me emotionally, and I loved seeing how much trust, care, and devotion has grown between them. Wei Wuxian felt especially moving to me in this one because he seems tired in such a human way, like he has carried so much for so long and is finally at a point where he cannot keep living inside old pain. Lan Wangji’s presence made all of that even stronger for me. He feels steady, loving, and completely sure of the person standing beside him. A lot of my favorite moments came from that emotional closeness, and it gave this volume a warmth that stayed with me even when everything around them felt tense and messy.

What kept this from being a higher rating for me is that this volume felt very crowded. So much is happening, and it comes one emotional blow after another. I still enjoyed it, but I also felt a little worn out by the pacing because there was barely any room to breathe. I wanted more time to sit with certain moments and just feel them before being pushed into the next big reveal or confrontation. Even so, I was really invested in the emotional side of the story. So many of these characters are carrying grief, anger, shame, love, and regret, and I could feel all of that on the page. Jiang Cheng especially hurt my heart. He’s one of those characters who frustrates me and breaks me at the same time, because so much of what he feels is tied to pain he does not know how to let go of. I also liked that the story lets complicated characters stay complicated. No one feels simple, and even the characters who made me angry still felt deeply human. That gave the ending a lot of weight for me, even when I was feeling emotionally overwhelmed by it.

I did enjoy it, and there were parts that genuinely moved me, but it didn’t come together in a way that fully satisfied me. I loved the emotional payoff, I loved the romantic resolution, and I loved getting those final moments with characters I’ve cared about for so long. At the same time, I finished it feeling a little drained, and not fully at peace with everything. Maybe that feeling fits this story, because it has always carried so much heartbreak alongside the love. Still, I’m really glad I read it, and I know this series is going to stay with me. Since I finished this and I’m still waiting for the 5th volume of the novel’s deluxe hardcover, I might just re-watch The Untamed or the donghua. This series is so blessed with adaptations, and honestly, I’m not ready to leave this world yet.

Still heavily edited, but still plenty of cutsey scenes even in the midst of all the chaos - watch for the hearts around Wuxian. It's also rather adorable to see Wuxian's concern for Jin Ling and the struggle Jiang Cheng goes through with his anger and the realizations from Wuxian's history that turned the tides against them previously. Lan Wangji seems pleased with the overall outcome of events though, especially as he's able to protect Wuxian and basically gets him to himself after. The Ghost General has a very small spotlight in this volume solely for the final battle and A-Yuan's memories at the very end. A good deal of the story actually focuses on Wuxian's own inner musings as he pieces together regarding Nie Huaisang's part in everything, though without any definitive proof, it's all just speculation. There is also a lot less regarding any of their adventures together after this battle as Wuxian and Wangji travel together, though it does make it clear that they remain together and most definitely a couple at this point. Just took a very long time for them to get there and stay on the same page. A bit sad to realize that this is the end of the series as it's truly been enjoyable to see these characters come to life again through the artwork.

Wei Wuxian: Lan Zhan, look at me, quick, look at me!

And forever after, his eyes could never move away from him again.

Ah, my heart is fully recharged again! No one’s more satisfied and thirst-quenched than a woman deprived of boys-love materials! And definitely, nothing is better than reconsuming MDZS in another format! Chef’s kiss!! Luo Di Cheng Qiu, you the man, you!

I know I already knew everything that was going to happen in this book, but I loved seeing the art of it!!! It stayed very true to the source material, so it was so nice to see JGY get his just desserts lol. And LWJ and WWX get their HEA!!

This completes the main part of the story. They are not going to be doing any extras. They pretty much kept this story clean and the spice is all off page pretty much. I really wanted them to do the Extras as there are some great stories for us to explore. I love seeing Lan Zhan in his home grading papers with Wei Ying. It's so domestic. Anyway, this is it. They did throw in 'Everyday means everyday', but it was sort of out of context.

We have a drunk Lan Zhan once again. This time, he's making up for his missed childhood. It's the cutest thing in the world seeing him pulling pranks. He gives Wei Ying a chicken. In ancient China, giving your beloved a chicken was your intention to get married. That's a symbol they MXTX uses as code.

The big event is GuanYin Temple when all the secrets come tumbling out. Wei Ying was in the middle of it and took all this crap on him for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was the easy scapegoat.

I love this temple seen to see how playful Lan and Wei are together. Wei Ying is sitting in Lan Zhan's lap in front of everyone. It's so scandalous in a good way. It's what we expect from the Yiling Patriarch. All the secrets have been revealed, all but one.

The two lovers leave and Suzhui comes up for a little reunion. It's Lan Zhan's ultimate wedding gift to Wei Ying. It really does show his constant love for Wei Ying. I just love it. I cry every time. We find out who was operating from the shadows. Everyone's motives are made clear. What a satisfying ending.

This is my favorite story of all time. Greatest story ever told in my opinion. I just love it. I love this Manhwa edition we have. It's a quick and easy way to reread the story. It's not as satisfying as the books, but it's quicker as well for busy life.

They did a good job with it. I'm glad to have them all. I'll miss collecting them.

What started as a show that I picked by accident (instead of a Korean drama) ended up being quite influential in my real life. It wasn't just exposure to new culture but I delved into learning the language, made new friends and ended up having a very interesting social life because of that. Every few months I go back and watch the show - some episodes that hit you hard; not the romance but the moral conflicts.

MXTX sets up conflicts at every turn. Every character exist as a mirror to someone else. Be it exposing hypocrisy of a righteous sect or kindness within an immoral one. Wei WuXian asks once - "what is right, what is wrong. what is black, what is white". Lan WangJi echoes it back years later to his own clan as he is punished for transgressions and accused of associating with "evil".

I have written essays, debated for hours on moral fortitude of WWX and virtue of LWJ. But it is Wen Qing's advice that's stuck with me even years after reading. You should never hesitate to say Sorry and Thank You. All the main characters make their choices and experience consequences of their actions. The choice they make show who they are and their reaction to consequences show the viewers what they truly are. This is where MXTX really shines in setting up little spaces of discord that ends up blowing up in future.

There are too many things here that transcend time and age, defies common expectations and soars as a intriguing story.

Can't believe I finished this series. It has such a special place in my heart. I have watched the Live Action ( The Untamed), read the novels, I am collecting the deluxe editions of the novels, read all of the graphic novels, and I plan on watching the anime.

The whole storyline is so well written. WangXian is just beautiful. The definition of Soulmates. 🩵

I loved seeing these moments from the novels get these amazing visuals. The confession scene at the Temple, the meaning behind their song, etc. I could go on.

I am 💯 going to reread this series. Probably many times. I can't wait to see what I missed the first time.

Can't believe this series has come to an end! This has been such a fun ride and I'm going to miss these releases! As usual, I love the art style and how emotions are conveyed through the artwork, and I love the little moments of humour interspersed throughout! I do still think this series wouldn't be overly accessible/would be hard to follow for people who haven't already read the novels, as things can get quite choppy and slightly all over the place at times, but I had a great time with this series!

Wow, we made it! For the third version of this storyline I've engaged with (first The Untamed, second the original novels, and thirdly this manhua) I can safely say I've consumed my fair share of MXTX and this master class of danmei. Love it the whole way through, regardless of the medium. It has a fun premise, a good little murder mystery plot, and some mutual pining; all perfect for a girl's night in romance read.

My short review: Satisfactory romance and nice ending to the series. My only gripe about this volume was the unsatisfactory resolution of a situation. Though in the context of the historical period, it could happen like how the situation ended. This format gave insight to the light novel series in its own way, and it's an entertaining one. Truly an enjoyable series.

Obviously heavily edited due to censorship but we got quite some cute scenes and some kisses so I call it a win. If someone hasn't read the novel though they miss the importance of "every day is every day" xD

I can't believe the comic is over. Maybe I should go back and re-read the novels xD

There were so many reveals in the final volume.

Wei Wuxian jumping into Lan Zhan's arms─repeatedly─ will always be a highlight of this series for me.

Time to go back and read the novels again. And then the manhua. And then the novels. And then the manhua. (This is a train I never get off.)
